In the sign of Aries, the sign of ‘I am’, of the Warrior, of the Self-conscious and the Leader, Venus feels out of place; it’s her detriment, and where Venus is enveloping and receptive, sojourners through Aries are asked to aggress, assert, and generally go after what they want, the very opposite of Venus’ natural mode of getting, attraction. This is the main problem that Venus faces as she travels through Aries: her innate way of doing and being is at odds with what the environment requires–and that means she is always at a disadvantage.
Our Lady of Love enters Aries in semi-sextile to Neptune, and this may set the tone, and give us a clue as to the way Venus will handle her experience here. She may resort to illusion, delusion, subterfuge, fantasy, deception, or be very creative in her coping attempts, and she could pretend to be other than she is, or could align herself with a Collective goal or aesthetic, in order to deal with the assertive demands of the sign.
We shouldn’t make the mistake of thinking Venus doesn’t have the ability or inclination to fight, because she really does, it’s just that her methods are not those of the Warrior, but of the Seductress, and her anger shows as jealousy or envy, with Venus appealing to others (such as her son, Eros, in her campaign to subdue her rival-in-beauty, Psyche) to do her dirty work. Remember, she rules Libra, of partnership, passive-aggression, and the iron fist in the velvet glove, and Taurus, an Earth sign–and Venus loves her comforts and material possessions–and so in Aries she is more likely to muster her energies in these directions, as well as in diplomacy and artisanal pursuits, in order to fulfill the Arian mandate to do do do.
