Today’s image is a pine tree. Trees, of course, don’t move around; they bend with the elements, shed their leaves or needles and grow new, offer shade and fruit and shelter to those who need it, are witness to what transpires but participate only as much as someone else’s actions determine. Though this is essentially the opposite of what my counsel might normally be, I recommend that we behave in the same steadfast, non-reactive, tranquil and solid manner as a tree when circumstances confront or challenge us; being even-tempered and inner-directed (not basing our own choices on what comes at us) will prove remarkably effective in dealing with matters today.

Very nice and particularly adequate: in the area where Cézanne painted this landscape, it’s sunny and windy today!…
