Thank you to Miss O’Crazy from San Francisco {{PD}}

The Moon and Sun perfect opposition at 1:44 AM PDT at 9 Sagittarius 55 (Luna) and 9 Gemini 55 (Sol). A Full Moon in Sag brings revelation via facts, a long journey, exposure to new cultures, customs, or information, or through the ritual of religion or education that acts as its own means of widening the individual viewpoint, as it relates to what others have experienced, gathered, or accumulated to the benefit of those who follow. Sagittarius expands the world, and does so firmly fixed in reality; the imagination gives way to the particulars of things as they are, enlightening through experience of what is. At this time we’re likely to be at least a little uncomfortable with the undeniable, the hard edges of things, but we need to remember: knowing where we stand supplies the materials for accomplishment, and for genuine change.

The Moon is past a recent trine to Neptune (mere hours before), suggesting we’re done, one way or another, with any emotional illusions we’ve been entertaining; with Neptune in Aries those illusions were likely about ourselves, about our inherent feeling nature and how it may affect our actions and choices. At the Full Moon, illusions, delusions, and the nebulous give way to the facts, to knowledge, in a process of reaching out or exposure to others and their ways (Sag). At the Lunar event the Moon is in approaching trine to Saturn in Aries (12 Aries), which is itself still conjoined Pallas=what we learn at the Full Moon offers emotional wisdom grounded in who we are in the real world, not just who we think we are, or think we could be. We see the hard reality behind what we were just hours before confused or misinformed about. Check the House of the natal chart where this Full Moon falls–the subjects of that House, along with any contacts to natal bodies, will tell the story of where and how that wisdom presents itself to you.

The Moon’s closest aspect other than the Solar opposition is a quincunx to Mars at 9 Taurus 17=The Will must adjust choices and action to both feeling and material circumstances–charging forward without taking all facets into account will only make circumstances where we must re-adjust again and again. Jupiter (23 Cancer) is sesquiquadrate Luna=we may find those who surround us (even the social order or larger public) pushing us to ‘do it their way’–specifically, to reflect their attitude through our own feeling nature–and that pressure may cause real discomfort, as the assumption will be that we should feel the same as the social arena in which we move. We’ll likely find ourselves hiding our feelings, to some extent, and that’s magnified by both the presence of Jupiter and Chiron’s current position at 29 Aries–we’re stressed, and it’s about ourselves! is the general atmosphere we swim in already–the Full Moon makes it just a little harder to navigate, though openness to both ‘the facts’ and reality really, really helps.

Finally, the Full Moon sextiles Juno (10 Aquarius)=here we have a hint about how to handle all those feels: making choices and reaching out based on what feels empowering to us is essential to processing this Lunar event successfully. Rely on your strengths, particularly intellectual or creative/ inventive/ innovative ones, to use that Sagittarian energy in its most helpful and potent form. Holding emotions at arm’s length, giving some intellectual distance to our own situation (for instance, by thinking of how we might advise a friend who faces our own challenges) can give a reality-based perspective from which we can definitely benefit.

The Moon’s Sabian is, ‘A Theatrical Representation Of A Golden-Haired Goddess Of Opportunity’. This image suggests the emotions and feelings engendered by the Full Moon present ‘Golden Opportunities’–and that they may come in somewhat dramatic forms (though the circumstances are playacting, and so not to be taken too seriously–that is, they may appear extreme or intense, but they aren’t the point–the feelings they cause are). The Sun, light-giver that causes Moonshine in the first place, carries the symbol, ‘An Airplane Performing A Nose Dive.’ Is it acrobatics, practicing technique, or a failing system plunging those in the plane to their deaths? The Full Moon is either illuminated by skillful use of talents, or by something quite frightening, an emergency springing from failure of some kind. Either way, we need to pay attention not just to what’s happening, but how we feel about it. I’m guessing too many of us have been pushing our feelings down lately, being overly concerned with remaining calm and ‘reasonable’, with trying to get along with those who have no intention of getting along with us. The Sagittarius Full Moon says, ‘Now you know what to do–and you’re empowered to do it.’ Have a great Lunar event, my friends–
