Well I almost missed this Full Moon at 8 Capricorn 14 that perfects at 4:56 PM this afternoon (at first I wrote aftermoon!) Pacific time; my life is overflowing with obligations, commitments, celebrations, and a few problems, and I’m thinking yours is, as well. A Capricorn Full Moon shows us the extent of what must be dealt with, shows us the structures and inhibiting factors and parameters of our lives and describes how we might complete or even surpass those efforts and accomplishments required of us. Yes, required. Capricorn isn’t about options, it’s about those things holding us down, holding us back, and outlines the steps we must take to attain security, create containment, or achieve in real-world terms. With Sagittarius we see the lay of the land, so that Cappy then provides specifics, concrete ways to change that landscape, but inspiration and aspirations come later, with Aquarius and Pisces–until then it’s material matters, and the rules that govern them, that must be faced.
The opposition of Sun and Moon falls across the Cardinal axis of summer and winter; that alone implies extremes, matters ‘in bloom’ or gone, once and for all. It’s tempting to say, ‘All my energy should go to those summer things, to what’s in season right now’, but that would be a mistake: it’s as important to recognize what’s ‘dead’ and to remove it from our lives as it is to pour our energy into summer matters. To bask in the sun, in the energy of what we can create and accomplish, is tempting, but making space for those new scenarios and expressions of talent is vital–hence the need to use Cappy’s discerning eye and standards to root out what no longer stands, serves, or supports.
This Full Moon doesn’t make any reasonably within orb contacts with the major lights and bodies–what are we to make of that? The minor bodies offer some clues. We see the Sun-Moon axis form a T-square widely with the TNO (Trans Neptunian Object) Logos at 12 Libra and more closely asteroid Requiem at 7 Libra 29=we must honor ‘the Word’ and ‘the End’, particularly in the communications and endings we are creating in relationships. Don’t let others go from your life in anger–instead, remember the words and ideas surrounding the interaction, and bid them farewell with ritual, acknowledgement of their previous role in your life, and the firm closing of the door that only death (of a relationship) can bring. Too, Orpheus widely conjoins the Moon=we’ve made the journey into the depths, now we mustn’t ruin the outcome with impatience or too much scrutiny–we already know what we want. And Damocles sextiles the Moon at 10 Pisces=our imaginations are our own dangling sword; to indulge what we conjure late at night as we try to fall asleep or sit alone in the dark is to do nothing but torture ourselves.
The Sabian for the Full Moon is, ‘An Angel Carrying A Harp’. Such a cartoonish stereotype! If I were an angel I might resent the idea that we all carry harps–as if we don’t have other talents, others things to do! And maybe that’s the point with this Capricorn Moon energy: if we fail to look at things as they are in the real world, if we substitute an inaccurate expectation of what is, we’ll lose any chance at being effective in sorting through material matters. We look at the Sun as well: ‘A Small Naked Girl Bends Over A Pond Trying To Catch A Fish’. Nakedness is a rather heavy-handed shorthand for innocence, nothing hidden, as is youth, water is typically emotion, and a fish? Maybe some feeling we need to get hold of–and the way to do it is to approach understanding our own emotions without guile, without trying to persuade ourselves that we should feel this way or that–just admitting our genuine feelings, no matter what.
A Few Words About Jupiter
The behemoth is at 29 Cancer, putting our feelings and sensitivities in stress mode overall–have you noticed it doesn’t even take a specific problem to make us tense and unhappy lately? The move into Leo can’t come soon enough–Sunday July 5th–though the planet of exaggeration and more in the sign of ego and hubris has its own issues! But Leo is also about making the most of the individuality–letting the Self shine in the best sense–and that comes with a focus on responsibility, on what we can give. A few notable contacts Jupiter will make early on include: the SDO (Scattered Disc Object) Sedna at 2 Gemini which will sextile Jupiter=what we ‘know but don’t know’, and our instincts, will inform communications, fill our thoughts, be emphasized in what we find out about, in ‘the facts’. That means our inner knowing will have a greater presence than usual–and we’ll likely become aware of unanticipated discoveries about ourselves (Leo), and our ability to sense the unseen.
The asteroid Isis will be conjoined Jupiter at 0 Leo and sextile Mars newly in Gemini, and this suggests something along the lines of us using our ‘magical’ powers to aggressively put something back together–and this is something we know, perhaps a plan abandoned that is reconstituted, once again viable. (I include the link to Isis mythology to give background for my interpretation.) Jupiter will also square Chiron, which will be at 0 Taurus, implying what we learn may, one way or another, hurt–but with the potential to heal via understanding and the unexpected, as the planet moves forward, sextiling Uranus, then trining Neptune and opposing Pluto (forced change, destruction, or elimination creates the ideal, the imagined, the inspired, or the spiritually fulfilling–perfecting the 19th of July). Jupiter into Leo holds a lot of potential, in its initial days, to broaden horizons at the individual level, to resurrect what we thought lost or hopeless (in terms of initiatives, plans), and to offer a kind of confidence in the Self we haven’t enjoyed for some time–and that’s something to look forward to–
