astrology, Good Day To . . ., The Astro Essence

The 17th is a Good Day To . . . marry your effective power and real-world efforts to achieving ambition fulfillment and to addressing with the intuitive senses any ‘blind spot’ material that comes forward. The values and standards we believe we hold may be challenged by what’s actually wise or practical in the moment–and we need not to be so proud that we can’t bend to a smarter course. To prevent chafing, be flexible when the evidence suggests modification is needed, and really put your shoulder to the figurative grindstone–with the right attitude, mountains can be moved.

A Good Day To . . . is based on the aspects perfecting on each day, Pacific time.

‘Dreamers ‘ By Albert Joseph Moore c1865 {{PD}}

The 16th is a Good Day To . . . listen. There’s an undertone to events that sneaks up on us, a dull roar that’s easy to dismiss as just background noise. It starts with a handful of contra-parallels, opposition-toned energy duos that enter the arena but don’t necessarily engage directly with each other: Our love for something or someone, our finances, or our relationships themselves are at odds with our own successful empowerment; the messages we receive or our own thinking fails to correctly understand the value (or lack of it) in what’s happening; and we’re likely to be surprised either by ourselves and our reactions or by what receives scrutiny or ‘the spotlight’–and there’s a chance that light will shine directly on something unusual, unique, radical, or original that we’ve done or are pursuing. Can make for a confusing atmosphere, the kind that shakes our confidence in our own identity or beliefs just enough to make us hesitate–and when we do, we should try the recommended listening, as an internal stillness and receptivity will offer (or make the way clear for) what we need to know.

This isn’t helped by the late afternoon Pacific time retrograde of Mercury in Pisces. It kicks in at 12 Pisces 53, with the first aspect it makes a semi-square to Saturn, and the first aspect made to it a square from the Moon in Sagittarius and then a sextile from Pallas and semi-sextile from Venus (over the first two days of the retro, with the order not being especially important). I see the way the retro period starts as a kind of harbinger of what to expect through the cycle; the ‘birth’ of the retrograde, and so its meaning. This time we have the retro occurring in Water, asking us to re-consider how we feel, with that examination of feelings showing us what values and relationships are making the ‘hard edges’ and difficult circumstances in our world. We have the wisdom and practical orientation to address what we see; at the same time, a flood of emotion bolstered by the square from the Moon in Sag, which we might describe as ‘difficult knowledge’, compels us to ‘dream backward’, that is, to assess the current reality, especially the emotional reality, by reviewing what previous dreams and ideals were chosen, which discarded, and how this built things as they are now. Exercise the imagination in the first half of the cycle, and in the latter half, exorcise it, flushing out delusions, misinterpretations, and untenable fantasies that are standing in the way of what you really want.

We’re finally moving, so I won’t be able to make daily posts as I won’t have access to my computer, but I’ll do my best to pop in when I can. Once we’re settled I’ll resume some sort of regular schedule–’til then, I’ll miss you all!

astrology, Good Day To . . ., The Astro Essence

‘Studio Lunch’ By Henry Siddons Mowbray c1900 {{PD}}

The 15th is a Good Day To . . . heal the Self through straight-out indulgence of the senses, and then take that sense of renewal and put it to work to expand what you know, to make beliefs into facts, to get the social sphere on your side, to learn–to enhance whatever means of successfully contacting and intermingling your Will with the world fits the bill. We may feel a bit rudderless, but it’s nothing to panic about–instead recognize that it’s a fairly effective way to keep your mind off matters you’d rather not deal with anyway–appropriate to drift and dream a bit, even as you enjoy the pleasures of living in a body, and experiment with reaching out and impressing yourself on your surroundings.

astrology, Good Day To . . ., The Astro Essence

By Stefan Krause, Germany – Own work, FAL, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=22857511

The 14th is a Good Day To . . . refuse to allow an unhealthy level of misdirected anger to torpedo relationships and/ or the ‘wise’ choice. The viewpoint is skewed in favor of knocking everyone and everything off balance, either out of a need to feel powerful (for that’s the cause of any disruptor who has no other goal than to disrupt!) or out of fear of what’s coming (because we think we may feel better if everything is out of whack and everybody unsure!) We do best to take a sober measure of the value of our relationships: do they support us? make our world better? offer love and positive interaction? And does the inflow and outflow of money make sense, considering where we want to go in life? Today take note, as what’s illuminated signals exactly what does and doesn’t work.

‘Portrait of a Young Married Couple’ By Jacob Jordaens c1617 {{PD}}

The 13th is a Good Day To . . . realize that what happens in relationships and/ or financial arenas will test the validity of the current life direction. Rather than focusing on the actual issue, focus on the bigger picture: what does the situation say about your larger goals or about the current behaviors and the direction they’re taking you? Usually we’d just weigh matters using our values and priorities as guidelines, but today we’re disconnected from standards in such a way that it could be easy to violate them–so move or make change with care, with the better choice being tentative planning, rather than execution, all with an eye to decoding what the Universe is telling us.

‘Rainbow’ By Ivan Aivazovsky 1873 {{PD}}

The 12th is a Good Day To . . . be aware that thinking is imaginative, inspired, but not necessarily wise or practical. Use this unusual set of conditions to assess those parts of your reality that need modification by planning what to do or how to approach it–problems can be solved, circumstances improved, by considering what your next move or change should be (as thinking will be creative and spiritually-cognizant) but by waiting until later to actually implement (as today we’re no judge of what’s smart or workable).

‘Mauritshuis’ By Johannes Vermeer c1660 {{PD}}

The 11th is a Good Day To . . . listen to that part of us that ‘knows’ even as there’s nothing we can point to proving that we know! We gain by confidence in who we are, and that includes trusting our inner compass. The future looks difficult, hard to navigate, but there’s something in our nature related to a past hurt that can help put the anticipation of what’s coming in perspective, and so help eliminate any obstacles, real or imagined, to moving forward.

‘Eagle Head, Manchester, Massachusetts (High Tide)’ By Winslow Homer 1870 {{PD}}

The 9th is a Good Day To . . . relax! We’ve just been side-swiped by the Leo Full Moon, and we need to gather ourselves, take stock, and leave a space to recuperate. Today we may feel ‘out of it’ and we are, with creative, spiritual, and perceptive energies all drifting and anchorless; ride the tide of whatever’s happening without too much engagement, or too much concern–most issues can wait, just a bit. Don’t worry; we do have the immediate capacity to judge what’s wise or practical, what’s necessary to defend or improve, and if your energy must go somewhere, it’s best to send it after those factors, even as you sit back with a cup of coffee or a nice drink.

The 10th is a Good Day To . . . embrace the gift, the reward, the emotional gem you’ve been given via your experience of a deep wound. Today this can be very successfully applied to getting closer to your dream or goal, and it offers the bonus of showing you effective use of the power you currently hold. In what we may be reluctant to explore, we find one of our best assets.

Leo Full Moon 8 February 2020 Call and Response

‘A Bather (Echo)’ By Jean-Jacques Henner 1881 {{PD}}

The Full Moon in Leo occurs at 11:33 PM PST at 20 Leo 00, sextile Zeus-Juno, square Vesta, and sesquiquadrate the South Node. These are contacts that wouldn’t even show up in most charts set to calculate only the ‘classic’ major bodies and points–so what does that say? Maybe it implies that what culminates here is subtle, and let’s face it, subtle isn’t a vibe that Leo does easily. Conclusions or endings arriving today may be, quite suddenly, dumped in our laps, presented as fait accompli, something we must just accept, no matter how we feel about it. That can make for major surprises delivered quietly, with a wink and a nod and a sudden twist of the entire landscape. We could feel ambushed, with delight or with upset, stunned in a way that on the outside is liable to be mild, even barely perceptible to others, but that inside re-shapes our outlook, or our entire world.

The sextile to Zeus-Juno in Libra points toward a resolution around ambitions and desires, and so a change (or cementing in place) to status and empowerment modes. If you have something at 19-22 Pisces in the natal chart, you may get a message delivered as clearly as a weather vane indicates the direction of the approaching storm, a sudden drop in pressure pulling in an answer to your goal or power situation represented by the Pisces natal energy or point. It acts as apex to a Finger of God; people who experience this may feel the whole thing is out of their hands, happening to them, rather than being at least nominally driven by their choices.

The square to Vesta may show us how and where our commitments and priorities clash with the demands of our own emotions or with our intuition. We have to ask: are we in conflict because we need to modify our stated values, because they don’t actually represent who we are, or is it that we fear what those values will be bringing us? Our reaction may spring, at least in part, from unpleasant experiences of the past, ones we link, consciously or not, with current events. Don’t be afraid to examine these issues at this time; the Leo energy of a Full Moon promises that we have a strong grip on identity, and though we may be surprised by our feelings, they aren’t alien to us, but instead easily traced to their origins. They hold recognizable shapes, and the FM may require we measure them for accuracy, ‘fit’, and appropriateness to our values, and vice versa, measure our values to see how we truly feel about them.

The Sabian for the Full Moon falls precisely on the degree without any minutes, meaning we read 20 Leo: ‘Zuni Indians Perform A Ritual To The Sun’. The symbol for the Sun, which we always inspect for clues as to the origins of the Full Moon light, is, ‘A Large White Dove Bearing A Message’. Taken together they make a kind of Cosmic call and response, a ritual ‘cris de coeur‘ to the source of all life, and the answer that is given. Whatever happens for the Full Moon, make sure you pay attention–this is energy put out into the Universe by the Soul, and that means what comes back to us has a great deal to say about who we are, and where we’re headed.

‘Waiting’ By Edgar Degas c1812 {{PD}}

The 8th is a Good Day To . . . prepare for the late night Pacific time Full Moon in Leo. But leading up to that, we have a harmonious and productive day via spiritual and creative inspiration and the ability to find what’s of worth in areas we don’t usually want to give our energy to, and the result is thinking that both furthers ambition fulfillment and lays the foundations for the ‘next step’. Next up: the Leo Full Moon!
