19 April 2019 Full Moon in Libra

The Full Moon falls at 29 Libra 06 at 4:11 AM Pacific time. A Full Moon in Libra promises an ending, culmination, conclusion, or end of a phase, probably keyed to a relationship or to many relationships, as the individual assesses their part in a larger, group picture. We see some dénouement occur with a partner or spouse, or even in a situation with an enemy, and this opens a way forward. Cooperation and diplomacy may start or stop, and events at this time may show us, most importantly, who’s on our side, who’s not.

Falling in an anaretic degree, this Full Moon is under stress; the FM fills in an Air Grand Trine with Juno and Black Moon Lilith, pointing toward Full Moon events as a safety valve or means of balancing emotional and mental issues around empowerment and what we have chosen to ignore or deny. The FM is also apex to a Finger of God, with base of Venus sextile Sedna, which suggests that what culminates now is a combination of instincts and values, that kind of automatic response that springs from a prompt generated by what we care about. It seems we’ll be driven largely by what we’re only partially conscious of, with the FM showing us, in big, bold terms, the results of such a stance.

There’s also a loose Mystic Rectangle–or rather, a tight MR except for one loner, expansive Jupiter–everything else sits at 29 degrees of their respective signs, implying that a Jupiterian event or figure comes along and lights the match to the Full Moon, Juno, and the Sun. In his own sign and newly retrograde, Jupiter may be the key, the attitude of overdoing, the hubris, the god-like individual, the casual imposition of the Will onto others, the exaggeration, the facts or beliefs used as a bludgeon.

The FM also opposes Hygeia-Uranus, both of which are within orb of the Sun as it approaches. This implies there’s an element of surprise, alarm, shock, or a group or avant garde influence–and is this a healthy thing, something we need to see, know, or understand, or is it detrimental, shaking up the world we think we know and so undermining our place in it?

The Sabian symbol for the Full Moon is, ‘Three Mounds Of Knowledge On A Philosopher’s Head’. I take this as a reference to the massively unscientific practice of phrenology, the study of the bumps and lumps of the head, and the mistaken idea that we can measure the level of someone’s wisdom and sophistication via this discredited methodology. It suggests to me some dodgy practice we engage in that serves to support our own assumptions and beliefs, rather than to reveal or clarify reality, even if that’s only the kind of Self-talk that has us looking for answers and yet insisting we can measure the validity of those answers with the very brain that came up short in the first place! Maybe it’s the superstitious reassurance offered by a lucky token, the Self-seriousness with which we approach our spiritual study or practice, the insistence on not stepping on a crack in the sidewalk (‘you’ll break your mother’s back!’) or the kind of thinking that labels some life elements as ‘spiritual’ and others not–these and many other versions of our ideas of ‘right living’, both minor and major, may need to fall by the wayside in order to allow a more objective perception of reality and the way the Universe actually works. For those longing for a more traditional interpretation of this symbol, I found a good one here, but would caution: always looking for the high falutin’ explanation of something is an example of exactly what I’m talking about.

We also inspect the Sabian for the Sun in a Full Moon scenario: ‘A Duck Pond And Its Brood’. This suggests that the origin of all this FM tension may be a group or familial situation, a Tribal attitude or expectation, perhaps, one that comes from being part of any group and while being in their ‘habitat’. That kind of situation can make it difficult to see circumstances any other way, between the force of habit, the influence of all those around us, and the ‘world’ (the pond) that seems to support only this one way of interacting. This symbol simply points to the way what falls away at the Full Moon may have been with us since early days, and may be, rather than something we’ve chosen, some old hangover from a scenario of which we’re no longer a part, or at least where we don’t play the same role we did when very young.

The product of this Full Moon, when all’s said and done, seems to be the ending of old, outmoded, misleading, and unproductive ways of interacting with ourselves, others, and the Universe. If we’re seeking clarity, and even if we’re not, the events of this Full Moon will help us find a little more of it.

For those who have the natal Sun at 29 Aries. Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–that offers a more complete picture of your year ahead). Something comes to fruition this Solar year, dear Aries, something that you’ve been working toward completing and have devoted a great deal of your energy to–even if you haven’t done so consciously.In fact, your job this year might be to become as conscious as possible of not only what you’ve set in motion, but how you can best respond and so direct the developments in your own life. It could be a time of revelation, particularly in terms of you seeing just how much sway you truly have. No longer can you say, ‘If I had my way, I’d . . .’ because you’ll see that you already do, and it’s all within your power. Good luck!

Today brings a kind of flair to our actions we’d be smart to take advantage of: destroy outmoded ties to the past by acting in inspired, original, innovative ways, especially ones that deal with or call to the attention of authorities what’s been enraging, or has been ignored or denied. Keep communications aligned with highest values, and you just may do something of genius.

For those who have the natal Sun at 28 Aries. Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–that offers a more complete picture of your year ahead). Could you be any more ready to take the lead, to exercise authority in your domain, to show your skills and natural giftedness, to ‘take command’ in some way? No, you really couldn’t, which means there’s nothing else to wait for–it’s time. This Solar year, through to your next birthday, will test every inch of your authority–and you can expect people, yourself included, to talk, think, and change their minds over what you do. It helps if you know what you want in life; it also helps if you are patient enough to wait for opportunities to present themselves, and/ or to do the background research needed to make things a genuine success. This is your year–expect what you do now to kick off big, permanent change down the road. Good luck!

17 April 2019 Alight With Imagination

‘Les Demoiselles Schwartz’ By Anders Zorn {{PD}}

We’ll be alight with imagination and creative energy today, but what shape this takes will be highly individual, and largely dependent on how you see the world: if you’re a fearful person, the night will be dark and full of terrors, figuratively speaking, and if you’re a person who trusts the Universe, your world will be full of wonders. Who, you might ask, would choose to be fearful, especially knowing the repercussions? Well, it’s not about choice, but about the underlying outlook we’re carrying right now. Sometimes we think we’re just fine, when in fact we’re white-knuckling it all the way–and other times we might think we’re too timid, when in fact we’re being quite brave. Tune in to the creative and imaginative in a positive way, addressing things as consciously as possible, listen to your inner voice, and you’re bound to end up doing, being, or making something genuinely worthy.

For those who have the natal Sun at 27 Aries. Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–that offers a more complete picture of your year ahead). The need to adjust emotionally, so that you feel as empowered and effective as you actually are, may dominate the year ahead for you, dear Aries. You made a space for doubting yourself the minute you denied or ignored something you really should’ve acknowledged–and now it’s time to admit to the tough stuff, clear it all out, and claim the ‘right thinking’ that will allow you to soar. Hints to success: don’t get distracted by the past, and don’t treat facts or realities as insults–they are information, and if used as such (rather than being resentful of them) you’ll expand your world significantly, and gain in any number of ways. Good luck, Aries!

16 April 2019 Power in the Darkness

There’s personal power to be found in the darkness, in delving into what we’ve been ignoring or denying, in recognizing where our true domain lies and in exercising our prerogatives there. I know, it’s not as glamorous as conquering new worlds, but it has a major benefit in getting all kinds of gunk out of our systems, of clearing out those things from the psychic closet that can reach out from the unconscious and make us stumble–and that’s really important to do, as Merc enters Aries and puts thinking and reasoning on the straight and narrow, focused on the personal Will, the ‘I Am’ statement, and the aggressive assertion of going after what we want.

For those who have the natal Sun at 26 Aries. Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–that offers a more complete picture of your year ahead). You and your instincts may be duking it out this Solar year, dear Aries; they are in perfect harmony with the conscious mind, and yet . . . there’s something that chafes, that makes you inspect your impulses repeatedly. The problem may be that there’s a lot you know but don’t know, have absorbed through the unconscious, and you’re now trying to guide yourself using this knowledge without bringing it to consciousness–because if it became conscious, it might upset the whole apple cart. Better that you respond to your own promptings and don’t scratch the surface too hard for deeper answers–looking for those would take you too far off the path, and this year you can make a lot of progress if you trust yourself and push forward–for best results, put the Higher Self in the driver’s seat.

15 April 2019 Focus on: Venus square Jupiter

We tend to get very excited by contacts between Venus and Jupiter, anticipating the bounty, the overflow, hoping for a never-ending supply of the ever-lasting gobstopper of happiness, without considering that all it may actually bring is diabetes and rotten teeth. That’s the thing with too much of a good thing: it’s debilitating, devastating our spiritual immune system with an overdose of optimism that guarantees we don’t recognize problems as they come along, and adding insult to injury, may also guarantee that we don’t utilize or even appreciate the positives it brings. But today we’re in luck: the square between Venus and Jupiter delivers the good stuff, but only after we’ve sorted the problem, worked for the reward, or had to use skill and discretion to create gain.

With Jupiter in Sagittarius and Venus in Pisces, we may be looking at the cost of attaining a dream; what must we know or learn, what journey undertake, what belief demonstrate our faith in, that we make ourselves eligible for the ideal reward, the pay off becoming a reality that up till then was only imagined? Or, we could see the need to reconcile the conflict between the facts and the vision, between our beliefs and the potentials a more Universal approach might open up for us. We could see how exaggeration has, one way or another, cost us our dream, or we could see that our current social arena doesn’t support our Love or Money needs–and so must be traded out for one that does. More comes in some fashion, but we learn just what it will cost, or what belief it may require we discard–and that’s okay, as we should label it progress.

For those who have the natal Sun at 25 Aries. Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–that offers a more complete picture of your year ahead). You hear the Truth like never before this Solar year, dear Aries, and once you accept the emotional implications, your world changes and, it almost goes without saying, will never, ever be the same again. But we do have to say it, because the danger is you may think these revelations aren’t serious, that they don’t bring a sea change and the inevitable change in course that requires. You may take it all too lightly, skimming pleasures off the top and not seeing how your world is being restructured, just outside your vision. Take the time to sort out what really matters to you, and who really matters to you–that will offer a surprising emotional harmony that supports whatever you choose to do.

14 April 2019 The Unresolved Human

‘Evening Glow’ By John Atkinson Grimshaw c1885 {{PD}}

We really have the impulse to ‘shine big’, to show who we are without reservation or, frankly, without modesty, either! That’s okay; that’s how we should feel right now, quick to let the world know who we are, willing to share ourselves and our talents and abilities, generous with our attitude. We’re showing our power (can’t help but show it, as it’s integral to our Beingness) and the mind is aligned with instincts and those things we know but don’t know–so we’re informed, and happy to know the lay of the land, and ready to meet any and all challenges.

But oh, there are always troubles, right? Always some little thing, some fact or impulse or urge or idea that has at its core our own destruction, our own sabotage of our goals. It’s just part of the contrary nature of the unresolved human; only those who are totally honest, without any judgment filters or perceptual lenses at all, are without contradiction. Be wary of the trap within the reward, the beautiful thing or bountiful gift that carries poisonous seed, of the action that arises out of a need to contradict or ‘show them’, and especially be wary of thinking that goes against your own empowerment, or of messaging that carries the kind of negativity that pits you against those in power out of a mistaken assumption that this means your motives are ‘pure’ (and implies that the other side’s are not)–that will not only guarantee no cooperation from those in charge, it also effectively locks us out of ever wielding that kind of power ourselves. So, shine, survey the landscape and the mindset before taking a stance.

For those who have the natal Sun at 24 Aries. Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–that offers a more complete picture of your year ahead). You’ve been handed the opportunities, openings, facts, or been reached out to, and now it’s time to use these situations to their maximum benefit for you. The social position is optimum (even if you don’t recognize it as such) and momentum is on your side. The costs of hanging on to the past become obvious this year, and you see just how to let go. Endings may be more difficult, and much more permanent, than you expect, but that cliche is true about one door closing and another opening. Watch health; it may be brittle all year, undermined by your own actions.

The brilliant idea that shapes your future happens today; so does the creation of original Love, whether that takes the form of a relationship or the birth of Higher Mind in material form–Art, in other words. This wonderful thing challenges your identity; it requires you to transform, and so to transform how you think of yourself–it’s that different, that amazing. Accept the challenge, and gain a little bit deeper knowledge of who you are.

For those who have the natal Sun at 23 Aries. Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–that offers a more complete picture of your year ahead). You, dear Aries, are in the midst of claiming your ultimate power–do you see that? It may be hidden within life circumstances, or in those matters that seem distinctly dis-empowering, or it may be couched in terms that seem much too mundane to carry much weight–but it’s there, and how you handle things will give quick results, shaping both the opportunities to come and the reality picture that surrounds you. Emotions may be stretched thin, at least for the first portion of your Solar year. Look for the pay offs available by adopting, nay, embracing, change–that’s where both Love and Money can be found by you this year–good luck, Aries!

12 April 2019 End of My Rope

‘ Luna’ By Evelyn de Morgan 1885 {{PD}}

It’s a sort of face-off between two sets of aspects today: Mars sesquiquadrate Pluto and contra-parallel Jupiter, and Venus quincunx Zeus and sextile Saturn. Mars’ open and very active conflict with Pluto puts the upstart individual or Willful Warrior into a death roll with the powerful and ruthless, the destructive and, taking a positive form or not, the transformative. This is a ‘go it alone’ position even in the midst of a crowd, the staking of an angry or defiant or ‘end of my rope’ claim to something that confers power–and meeting the resistance of those who already feel it’s their prerogative. Do we get what we aim for? Probably not, for the simple reason that we don’t believe we should. That recommends our attention go in the other direction: toward adjusting our ambitions to suit our relationships and/ or our finances, or vice versa, adjusting what we invest our time, energy, and resources in so that it serves our ambitions. This can have a real-world impact, and makes best use of that restless or defiant energy, giving it a constructive, and probably highly successful, outlet.

For those who have the natal Sun at 22 Aries. Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–that offers a more complete picture of your year ahead). This year, dear Aries, you may face a number of challenges involving power scenarios from the past. You may be called upon to re-litigate them, to find your own best expression of them, or you may be asked to claim or eliminate those power structures, whatever may be best for you. It’s generally a matter of clearing yourself of old strictures against using the power you know you have, and of letting go of old bugaboos that no longer apply. You may also face a health issue, but if you take it head-on you’ll not only beat it, you may rid yourself for good of some condition that has plagued you, maybe life-long. Beware, too, of big talk; don’t be misled by a too-rosy picture, but do keep your own thoughts optimistic. This year is meant to prepare you for the massive amount of bounty, and the many opportunities, that will begin to arrive not long before your next birthday.

What you hear today, what’s communicated, might be discouraging, but if you listen more closely, what you’ll realize is that it’s about pulling back a bit in order to preserve relationships, assets, or options in the smartest way possible. Adjust toward the practical, use skills to their utmost, and be unafraid to take a good hard look at where you’re going and where you’ve been–with time, you’ll see that it was worth it.

For those who have the natal Sun at 21 Aries. Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–that offers a more complete picture of your year ahead). This Solar year, through to your next birthday, might be a time of testing, eliminating, learning to deal with restrictions and follow the rules, and all of it aimed at making serious choices about the life path, where you want to go and what you want to accomplish. I know that doesn’t sound like much fun, but it is important–and there are other rewards along the way, including a sudden and largely unexpected emotional blossoming, a genuine opening of the heart, and the fact that pursuing ambitions and desires will actually be the smart thing to do at this time. You’ll reach your next birthday, Aries, operating at a new level of ‘Ready’–and that’s a really good thing.
