Health Care Reform, the Magazine, trends

Just popping in to catch up, since lately I’ve been ultra-busy (but who hasn’t?) between visitors and clients, so that I wasn’t able to be part of the big Blog-A-Thon. Great articles will be showing up all over the internet on how to handle the Cardinal T–my blog list should lead you to most if not all of the participants, or check over at ‘Thon central, Donna Cunningham’s Sky Writer http://skywriter.wordpress.com/ Here’s my Saturn/ Pluto view from a while ago https://juliedemboski.wordpress.com/2009/11/02/the-saturn-pluto-square/

The weather’s been perfect (though a little chill) and it lures me out–the night sky has been clear and the stars easily visible, even this close to city lights. I have big garden plans this year, and right now am starting seed indoors, and tending the winter vegetables already planted–and we had a salad from the garden last night! thanks to the mild weather all season. So, that concludes the farm report 🙂

The rest of my time goes toward preparing the Juno book and the Spring issue of ‘Eclipse’  Right now pieces planned for the next issue include an article on Ceres, and a pair of articles on the Sun as identity/ Earth as Material Purpose, more small and amusing bits, and . . . what would you like to read? Let me know what might be of interest–and if you bought the last issue, or are planning on purchasing one in the future, would you like the three-month forecasts to be a regular feature of the magazine?

Will the US pass health care reform, the vote now planned for Sunday the 21st? When I look at the transits for this day, what I see is somewhat contradictory, with the Sun at 1 Aries opposed Saturn at 1 Libra. We might jump to the conclusion that this could mean the whole thing will stall where it stands, with Self-interest and ‘me first’ illuminated, and a lack of willingness to partner solidly opposed with the old man in Libra (and Saturn may represent all those who are just plain scared of change–these typically are the same group that doesn’t know what’s in the bill!) The Moon in Gemini promises talk, but networking talk, not anything that might sway others philosophically–this is the kind of influence that won’t make anyone change camps but may pull fence-sitters into the ‘Aye’ camp, as they’re reminded of who their connections and supporters really are. The Sun will be trine Mars, bolstering the ease with which action can be taken–but in Leo, and we’re back to that concern with Self-interest–but mutual reception breaks the tie, so to speak, making the urge to action that much more appealing. Ceres squares the Sun from Capricorn–our connection to Mother Nature might be mega-practical, a ‘Who needs health care, we’re healthy!’ kind of vibe, a take your vitamins vibe, a close your eyes and hope nothing goes wrong vibe–not encouraging for the bill. Jupiter (society) is in the sign of the Collective (Pisces) and sextile Juno, suggesting that empowerment may be on the menu via society’s consciousness of what’s for the Collective good. Neptune and Chiron are just over one degree apart, perhaps allowing enough distance that those deluded about what really helps or hurts may get a clearer vision of the need for change: Mother Nature can’t do it all (Ceres conjunct Pluto). Vesta square Sedna casts a vote for the ‘Nays’ with an inability to see what’s sacred, and with generous orbs we can draw a Grand Trine from Jupiter to South Node to Pallas–and that bodes well for society learning from the past and accessing accumulated wisdom–but the kicker may be that Neptune is planet of latest degree, signalling that the good of the Collective will ultimately assert itself–and in my view, that says the bill will pass.

It’s not too late! Check out ‘Eclipse’ and get your forecast for the rest of March and for April, along with articles on Zeus, interceptions in the natal chart, and a look at two of history’s most famous and infamous sisters http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/eclipse-in-depth-astrology-for-the-21st-century/

Here’s wishing you all some of the great weather we’ve had here in Seattle, and a wonderful weekend! Today’s Link: And a reprise of Art in the name of the Blog-A-Thon! http://secretmoonart.blogspot.com/2010/03/astrology-day-blogathon-2010-cosmic-art.html

What’s Holding You Back? Trends in the New Year

What an odd time the New Year has been! It seems like ever since 2010 came to town, currents through the Collective have been running with a vicious undertow (Uranus in Pisces), structures are crumbling (Pluto in Capricorn), it’s difficult to sort true from illusion (Neptune in Aquarius), and injury to the intellect or the automatic use of the most facile elements of the mind, without reference to whether this is positive or not (Chiron in Aquarius), have plagued us all in one form or another. But you may rightly protest, haven’t these placements been in effect for what seems like forever? Yes, yes they have, and yet it seems we’re only now getting a glimpse at their most recent influence. A few developments in December and January have cleared the way for us to get a gander at what’s up right now, a peek below the covers that could inform us as to what responses may benefit us most (these are just a few main points that led into the current period; for full forecast and current conditions, please see the Winter issue of ECLIPSE http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/eclipse-in-depth-astrology-for-the-21st-century/).

Mars’ retrograde brought us up short, if not outright stopping action at least forcing our choices to take an indirect route, making them less effective than they typically would be; then the Sun entered Capricorn and the circumstances illuminated were those of hard reality, while upon the Sun’s entry into Aquarius our attention was drawn to thinking about what we’d just observed–a contemplation that felt ineffective, simply because the action energy is still withdrawn. Saturn retrograded and suddenly barriers were down; the rules can be bent, regular ways of accumulating, building, impacting are not working and, combined with Mars’ situation, means we are in an especially tough position, one that says we are strongly desiring productive action, but are not terribly likely to be able to make it a reality.

To add to this, mid-December saw Pallas enter Scorpio; this wise lady moved from a stance of concern with relationship to others, of partnership and co-operation, to a viewpoint that urges her to dig for the truth, to perhaps express destructive anger when she finds it, to destroy or transform what she touches, and to keep secrets, out of fear, security, or power needs. Pallas is, then, in a mode that can be as injurious to the exercise of wisdom as it can be supportive of it, and may not come to our aid in quite the way we expect, we’d like, or that seems the most beneficial to our interests from our point of view.

Late December moved Ceres from Scorpio, where she was a wee bit overbearing (angrily, at times), to Sagittarius, crowning our feeling of authority (for what is the maternal force but ‘the one who knows best’?) with the need/ desire to let our authority be known, and with this, Ceres will often be the one who dictates what should be–and then along comes Jupiter; he enters Pisces and our impulse to reach out to the Collective becomes a major force. And with that we are back at our effectiveness, or lack thereof, with the retrograde energies of Mars and Saturn.

What do we get from all this? Don’t worry if you feel things don’t seem to be moving as they should, and don’t be hard on yourself in terms of accomplishment–though things aren’t proceeding with the kind of feedback we expect or are used to from our efforts, they are making a mark–it will just be some time before we see it.

And in gratitude to all who’ve been so supportive in purchasing the inaugural issue of ECLIPSE, I’d like to offer the opportunity to ask a single, brief question. Email me at juliedemboski@hotmail.com with your query; include your birth info (write out the month, place name not co-ordinates) and I will determine if your question requires a look at the natal chart, at transits, or a horary chart. Vague, open-ended questions bring vague answers; specifics bring focused info. All answers will, of necessity, be very brief; be patient, I’ll get back to you as quickly as possible, and I’m sure you can understand that I won’t have the time for any follow-up exchanges, though of course I look forward to any comments you may have. This offer is valid only for purchasers of the magazine, and cannot be reassigned to anyone else, and the email used must be the email from which you purchased the magazine–no exceptions. No questions will be answered before magazine purchase. And, in case you’re wondering, it’s not too late–purchase your own copy of ECLIPSE–only $2.95!–and get in on the deal! http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/eclipse-in-depth-astrology-for-the-21st-century/

Did It Happen To You?

Just something I noticed yesterday, and I must preface this with the caveat that not every communication I received falls in this category; but I did hear from a scattering of individuals who all had something I’ll define as a theme in common: they were busy ‘showing me.’ These were people I don’t hear from often, the rarity of their communications part of what tipped me off to the trend. Did this happen to you? Did you hear from someone whose message was passive-aggressive,  filled with angry engagement that you don’t (or perhaps no longer) feel? The tone of these notes/ messages was ultimately sad, as these individuals somehow feel that something is owed them psychically, emotionally, and yet that’s not appropriate to the existing relationship (and in my case, it never was appropriate, a condition that these people do not seem to fathom). It was the psychic equivalent to Bill Gates’ mosquito releasing stunt: irritating as he tried to make a point, but not really of significance.

Now, don’t get me wrong, my mailbox wasn’t stuffed with hate mail–far from it, but there were enough out-of-the-way communications (some of them wearing very pretty words and images) that it made me take a look at conditions. My first thought was the Moon; it was moving through Gemini, so no surprise that people felt motivated to speak out, and in easy aspect to many energies (specifically the gathering in Aquarius–and that’s a lot of air, spurring us to think, whether we want to or not). Jupiter squared Vesta, and this may be key to the tone: these individuals may have been challenged to measure their own beliefs against what they truly find sacred–and when we come up short, the tendency is to rationalize and justify, for the ego (Mars–more about him in a moment) to jump forward. Mercury moved into semi-sextile with Neptune yesterday, and this says that communications can be guided by ideals or by delusion and fantasy–you decide. But I think the real trigger may have been Mars–as it moved from Capricorn (restraint, reality) to Aquarius, we may have seen the brakes come off the aggressive and assertive energies, with a tendency now to intellectualize and rationalize (Aquarius) one’s desire to lash out (or just to speak out–as I said, not all communications will fall into the ‘show you’ category). So, if this happened to you, I would say take it less as a true communication and more as a statement, an instance where someone is showing how they believe (Jupiter) you should be engaged with them, in defiance of the real life situation.

Today much the same is in effect, with one important difference: the Moon goes Void today at 9:45 AM PST today (the 5th) and remains so until 8:05 PM PST. This suggests that, with the same conditions in effect, we could have two radically different outcomes: messages received today may be of the same character, but they may either pack no punch (where even the individual speaking doesn’t believe what they’re saying), or they could spark a completely unanticipated response within you, leading you somewhere you never expected to go.

CHIRON IN THE NATAL CHART is available directly from me, or from Dog and Sunflower Press (which is me, too!) and so is THE ASTROLOGY OF INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP–email juliedemboski@hotmail.com or dogandsunflower@hotmail.com to order–Thanks!

Here’s some great truth-telling going on about male/ female relationships, excerpted from an upcoming work by Jessica Shepherd http://moonkissd.com/2007/12/12/use-your-venus-ladies-not-your-mars/ and here http://blogs.astrology.com/venus_beyond/2009/02/chiron-neptune-node-shake-the-disease.html

Take note of more Mercurial happenings here with Jude Cowell http://judecowell.wordpress.com/2009/02/05/inauguration-2009s-mercury-return-feb-15/

And have a great Thursday!
