Mercury enters 29 degrees today-ALERT! ‘The medium is the message’ has never been a more apt phrase than it is right now! People will say anything–to get what they want, to get attention, to make an impact, to impress, to assert themselves–it’s a day to take every communication as an ‘I WANT’ statement, and not much more. Realize that what we hear over this 24 hour period (at least) will be indicative of what others truly want–take it to heart, and remember it when the tide of illusion washes back in again.

What exactly is the significance of Mercury being at 29 degrees? And which planet is it in?
When any planet is at 29 degrees it is presumed to be under stress–this is known as an anaretic degree. And Mercury is itself a planet; it’s not in a planet, it’s in a sign: Virgo.
You may notice that this blog is keyed to two groups of readers: those who are avidly learning or are already well-schooled in astrology, or those who just read between the astro references for the advice–everyone else gets lost in the weeds! Thanks for your question, L-stell!

Hi again,
That was a typo by the way, slightly embarrassed. Of course Mercury is a planet! I had a feeling it was in Virgo at 29 degrees and there is more reasoning behind my initial question. I have Mercury at 29 degrees, is that a good or bad placement for me today? And being ill educated in astrology, I have a further question after reading your reply. Is having Mercury in Virgo at 29 degrees a bad thing for my everyday communications?
Cheers,
L-stell
Hi L-stell!
Of course! Happens to me all the time–I’m thinking one thing, writing another–terribly awkward 😦
Having a natal placement at 29 degrees isn’t bad–it’s more about the concepts related to the planet being terribly stressed, and this typically shows up as an undertone in the individual’s affairs. For instance, Mercury at 29 degrees Virgo as a birth position suggests that communication matters in general, and critical faculties, thought processes, criticism, assessment, discernment, matters of accounting and collecting results of your efforts (the harvest) will all be central, and likely stressful, elements of your experience. This will also affect the Houses Mercury rules in the chart, with all things directly related to Mercury probably in a continual crisis mode (and this is something, since it’s been constant, that you may not recognize as truly stressful, just believing ‘that’s the way it is,’ or that you experience as having random facets that change on a dime and often present challenging situations). Naturally, any aspects Mercury makes, and his House placement, will all factor in.
In your case, this is your Mercury Return–so could present an intense communication situation, or that could feel very natural, with your mentality having a sense of being ‘right at home,’ as the world, for a day, seems to match your communication style exactly.
Thank you for your question, L-stell!

I have Saturn at 29 degrees Virgo in the 6th house. Is there some significance to 29 degrees? It sounds like that’s what you are saying. If so, how does it apply to being conjunct my natal Saturn?
Hello Jeanne, Yes, as I stated, an entity at 29 degrees is under stress in how it will express; for a natal placement it would be a life-long push to deal with the expression–one would find this tension as an undertone to everything, as there is a need to ‘finish up,’ in some form, the expression of the planetary energy in the sign. A transiting planet conjuncting a natal placement at 29 degrees would likely bring this need for expression to a head–in your case, possibly communicating (under duress!) about daily duties, obligations, or a job that is perhaps highly demanding, restrictive, or even oppressive in its manifestation in your life.
