The Essence for 13 February 2011: Fantastical Confrontations

'The Great Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed in the Sun' William Blake 1805-1810 I think we can all relate to this, don't you?

About 4 PM Pacific the Moon begins a cascade of aspects in the 27-28 degree range: a square to Juno, a trine to Neptune, followed by a square to Uranus–and of course, the Juno/ Uranus opposition forms a T with the Moon. All together, this spells power confrontations that can be grounded in the fantastical, in sentiment, or in the illusion of what one imagines it takes to be powerful. It’s easy to believe that power lies in extreme independence, in rejection of what is or of the extisting power structure, or in grabbing all the prerogatives for oneself–but we’d be better off using our imaginations and our creative energy to acquire empowerment while still respecting and honoring all involved.

The Essence for 12 February 2011: Not Fritter Away

Landscape of Norway by Konrad Magi c.1909

The Moon in Gemini can make us mentally energized–sassy, you might say–and by 4 PM PST a Grand Trine is in place, with Moon trine Mercury/ Ceres trine h.Zeus/ Saturn. This effect lasts through about 10 PM Pacific, and should bring forward a strong desire to make plans, especially ones that reflect the ambitions. Use the energy by channeling it into concrete efforts and commitments; it’s easy for this impetus to be frittered away with lots of talk, so try for best use of it. It’s also a good time for plant starts and planting seeds, in spite of the fact that we’re heading toward a Full Moon–the Grand Trine involves positive Moon energy, Ceres (Mother Nature), and Saturn (bringing into reality), which should make for a boost to what’s just initiated, whether it’s ideas or seedlings.

The Essence for 11 February 2011: Subtle Influences, Empowerment Options

Tags

,

'Vesuvius from Posillipo' Wright of Derby c.1788 {{PD=Art}}

The week’s energy is subdued; and yet, between Venus/ Pluto and Chiron into Pisces, we might expect a little more action than this! It’s there, it’s just either subtle (Pisces), hidden (Pluto), or seems seated in the past, either through deeply-rooted hurt or a resurgence of skills (Chiron)–in any case, nothing that seems terribly immediate, or originating in the here-and-now. This is confusing, to say the least, but shouldn’t result in anything more severe than putting our energy into something that only appears to need our input; in reality, it’s already settled into its own groove.

Moment to keep our eye on: around 8:30 AM the Moon trines Juno, which opposes Uranus and quincunxes Neptune. This can lay at our feet empowerment options we never imagined; and yet, they are springing from our unique creative viewpoint, and really are (even if they appear outlandish or undesirable) a product of our intents. Keep that in mind as you pick and choose and form your reactions.

The Essence for 10 February 2011: The Golden Age is Gone

Illustration of King Midas by Walter Crane 1893 {{PD}}

There’s a wicked sesquiquadrate between the South Node and Ceres–wicked because it is the kind of thing that sneaks in under the radar and creates its own special kind of havoc. This may push forward an idealized version of the past as ‘natural’ and many will fall for the influence (and this is only reinforced by Venus/ Pluto). With my age group I imagine it as putting the 70s on a pedestal, but it can take many forms; just think about whatever ‘golden age’ lingers in your memory that some are all too quick to characterize as ‘the good old days.’ Don’t fall for it–it’s a huge distraction from where we really want our energy to go–and those who push for resurrection the hardest may be least in touch with what the past really means (there’s a reason things, places, people fall away from our lives–it’s not sinister, it’s evolution).

The Essence for 9 February 2011: Healing or Hurting with the Taurus Moon

Tags

Bull Franz Marc 1911 {{PD-Art}}

The Moon enters Taurus at 3:22 AM PST of the 9th; right away there’s a sextile to Chiron, setting either a hurtful or healing tone for the Taurus Moon–you must decide consciously–if you leave it to the unconscious, you could end up deeply wounded, mostly at your own hand, before this Moon leaves the sign. Chiron’s change to Pisces, plus the preference to either Cap or Aquarius energies for each individual, will inform the course of this Moon. (See ‘Been There, Done That’ for more on Chiron into Pisces).

By 11 PM PST the Moon squares Mercury and kicks off major emotional contact across that Aquarian gathering. It brings sensitivity, pulls the energy into the emotional picture, and stirs the intuition, which, if we are intellectually adept (and I don’t think you’d be one of my readers if you weren’t!) can be cross-processed through the mind for maximum illumination.

The Essence for 8 February 2011: Measuring the Personal Mission

Do you think drinking the potion is part of their mission? Tristan and Isolde by Waterhouse c.1916 {{PD-Art}}

The Moon’s sextile to Mars (3 AM PST) and sextile to the Sun (by 4:30 AM Pacific) and trine to Earth (same time) really pushes us to act, do, make happen, especially with things that hook into either our Higher Mind ideas, or our image of ourselves, and in some cases, both. Unless our sense of ‘personal mission’ is strongly formed at the moment (either through Aquarian awareness or Leo identity) we would be better off delaying definitive action for now–there’s too much emotional impetus and too little connection to who we really are, except in those cases where one is truly aligned with and in the pipeline to specific, well-vetted and appropriate-for-us goals.

The Essence for 7 February 2011: Take Notes

Callisto, Jupiter's Moon NASA

At 1 AM PST of the 7th a sextile to Aquarian Mercury puts the Moon over itself! We have an emotional revelation: we know what we want to say, and how to say it. Write it down–though this inspiration seems unforgettable, you just might :)

Just before 7 PM PST the Moon opposes h.Zeus, and we either have our ambitions or desires stirred, or we are slapped in the face with them, the latter likely perpetrated by a third party who either doesn’t approve of our wants or who finds them inconvenient. Don’t slap back, much as you might like to; the fact that this party reacted as they did says that you are in the power position–it’s up to you whether you modify your inclinations in order to please this individual or not.

The Essence for 6 February 2011: Irritable, but Conscientious, All At Once

Cassini caught the jets of Enceladus, a Moon of Saturn, January 2011--Thanks, NASA!

Void begins 11:48 AM PST, as the Moon pulls away from her opposition to Juno; Moon enters Aries at 2:46 PM Pacific. The Aries Moon likely makes us feisty, charges us up–but if we’re already enervated and tuckered out, it can just make us irritable. Expect added strain as the Moon squares the Nodal axis (“Am I doing what I should to move my life forward?”) and it’s all exaggerated with the Moon’s conjunction to Jupiter, 7 PM. The Moon squares Venus about 9 Pacific, and we may either feel a dissonance in relationships or vulnerability in finances, with the Cardinal placements urging us to do something about our upset. It’s really better not to act right now, as the emotional picture doesn’t support successful choices and inhibits our ability to foresee the consequences.

The Essence for 5 February: Wistful but Assertive, with a Chance of Rain

Paul Serusier c.1893 {{PD-Art}}

Note Mars conj. Sun trine Saturn, making the aggressive, assertive, and ego-led impulses especially felt (and especially effective). Think carefully about the impact you want to have, as you will almost certainly attain it.

The Lunar landscape once again seems a bit disconnected and does not thrill; the highlight may be the Moon’s conjunction to Uranus at 10 AM-ish PST on the 6th. Otherwise, the mood is somber and a little wistful, with scattered playfulness at times :)

The Essence for 4 February 2011 ‘Do It For Yourself’

‘The Gift’ by Marguerite Gerard c.1785 {{PD-Art}}

We need to remember that Venus at 00 CAP is sesquiquadrate Earth, making for some excellent opportunities to asset the Self (Leo) in ways that will affect the material situation surrounding relationships and/ or finances. Bold and Self-interested actually makes friends and financial security. Mars and Sun are still conjunct in Aquarius, and though this can make for co-ordination between action and intellect that can aid the Venus goals, we need to avoid ‘living in our heads’ or believing that we can work it all out just by thinking–we must ‘do,’ and we must feature those Venusian subjects when acting and/ or making plans.
