The upcoming eclipse is a Full Moon at 8 Gemini 38 at 1:26 AM PST of the 30th, and as with every Full Moon, we’re likely already feeling a building tension, attached to some matter either in the natal House where the eclipse occurs, or in some Lunar-related area of our lives (and that can be something involving your Lunar placement, something ruled by the Moon in the natal chart, or a Lunar topic in general, such as mothering, intuition, or nurture). This one, though, being an eclipse, brings a wipe-out to some kind of thinking that has become outmoded, shakes up ideas or perceptions, likely through difficult, unusual, shocking events, because of assertions by ‘the group’, or through accidents, serendipities, or sudden insights provided by Higher Mind (the Sun, which is of course opposed the eclipse and the illuminator of the Moon, quincunx to Uranus). With Full Moon events we alter our thinking or perceptions because of emotional or intuitive ‘enlightenment’ of one kind or another.

The eclipse is apex to a loose Fist of God with base of Pluto-Zeus, suggesting that eclipse revelations (another Uranian concept!) may bring resolution to conflicts between ambitions and desires (Zeus) and matters of Power (Pluto), now held, recently lost, or currently sought. It’s an equation arising from clashes, upset as catalyst to an answer that doesn’t just allow emotional satisfaction or relief, but that changes how we think, how we process ideas of Power and our own wants, as well.

If we really want to be loose with our numbers (and who doesn’t, once in a while, in the name of recognizing the flow of energy?) we can find the eclipse as part of the base of a Finger of God with a wide sextile to Chiron, apex a Venus that’s not really quincunx Chiron, but is linked via the Lunar event. The Finger implies if we can heal something about our own ego, our expression of Will, our actions and choices (which might mean forgiving ourselves for something we’ve done), or heal some concept we have around our own aloneness, whether literal or existential (all Aries, linked to Chiron’s current location), and do this in tandem with or prompted by eclipse events, then we can harmonize some schism, unite in relationship or via aesthetics, or discover some vital Truth (Venus in Scorpio).

Our Sabian for the Full Moon is, ‘A Quiver Filled With Arrows‘. The events of this eclipse arm us, give us plenty of chances to ‘hit the target’; whatever occurs, then, offers a kind of resource, something that facilitates our own activity. The Sun, light-giver and reason for the apparent eclipse phenomenon in the first place, has the Sabian, ‘A Mother Leads Her Small Child Step By Step Up A Steep Stairway’. Are we the mother, or the small child? I see this as the Universe being the mother, showing us the way, assisting us as we try to do better, as we try to climb. That means, then, that if you are knocked back a bit by eclipse events, that the larger flow is telling you that whatever you were trying or after isn’t for you–at least not right now. Taking a warning is always better than ignoring one, wouldn’t you agree?

For a little something on possible effects of eclipse contact to your natal chart, you can take a look here–

Before the Eclipse

The 25th-29th brings hurtful thinking (or possibly thinking that works at solving the kinks inherent to utilizing our skills), but also circumstances that firmly support our personal authority and expression, and this sets a success dynamic in place through the eclipse. If we dwell on slights we short-circuit the positive impetus, but if we examine hurt in light of how to heal, how to prevent further damage, and/ or for the part we played in its creation, we empower ourselves significantly, and open the door to both skill utilization and surrounding conditions that facilitate our intents.

Look at it like this: there’s a lot of good mojo available to those who 1) aren’t afraid of their own power, and at the same time willingly embrace genuine responsibility (and that latter is as opposed to saying one is responsible but not actually dealing with a matter); 2) those who actively value the most original and unique parts of themselves (and by extension, who accept those things in others); 3) who wield power in areas that are specifically appropriate to who and what they are (in the largest, Universal sense, not in the worldly ‘labels and qualifications’ kind); and 4) those who are both honest with themselves AND able to listen to instincts (being honest means the instincts are indeed instincts–not wishful thinking or personal propaganda–and so can be trusted). Center efforts on something meaningful to you at a Soul level, and you just might make significant progress at this time.

During this period we also see Neptune turn around in his home sign of Pisces (late afternoon PST of the 28th)–and he does so poised to make his first contact (excluding Lunar ones) by square to the Nodal axis. That suggests we all might get a dose of reality through our efforts to either move forward (NN), resolve the past (SN), or in trying to maintain continuity of past circumstances into the future (SN/NN axis). Generally, this direction should ‘lift the fog’, or otherwise allow more access to the creative (but also, make the pitfalls of the deceptive or deceitful more prominent, and so more difficult to recognize, as well).

Have yourself a merry little Thanksgiving!

‘Le jardin des Tuileries en automne (The Tuileries in Autumn)’ By Paul de Castro 1921 {{PD}}

The New Moon perfects at 2 Gemini 04 at 10:37 AM PDT on the 22nd and makes just a few close aspects; if we stretch a little, what we get is an Air Grand Trine with arms of Juno in Libra and Saturn-Pallas Aquarius with the conjunction of Sun and Moon making this GT temporary but potent. What’s clear is that we have an opportunity to achieve mental balance, to find a harmonious relationship between how we intellectualize the real world, how we see our own power or lack within it, and the role our relationships play in the actual empowerment equation. What forms here tests our capacity for practicality and calls forth our skills, specifically requiring us to collaborate or otherwise draw on our network of contacts in order to achieve effective mental balance–that is, an effective way of processing and expressing ourselves in the world.

If this New Moon could talk, it might make these statements: cooperation facilitates getting what you want and opens avenues to Self-expression; what we think of the physical and material is as important as what those material circumstances actually are; what’s solid, real, and possibly seen as a barrier is in actuality offering you a receptacle that will give shape to your mental energy as it takes physical form. The sooner you see that Saturnian walls, restrictions, and rules don’t deny nearly as much as they show you practical parameters to enhance and define creative energy expressed through skills, the more quickly you’ll be able to make a reality of the new ways of thinking and networking the New Moon brings.

‘Music in the Tuileries’ By Édouard Manet 1862 {{PD}}

The Sabian for the New Moon is, ‘The Garden Of The Tuileries In Paris’. The Tuileries are an expression of the human Saturnian urge to order, contain, and capture as it applies to Nature herself. This image tells us that if we cooperate and collaborate, by recognizing the true inclinations of the energies we seek to mold, we can create something that has the best elements of humanity’s interventions and Nature’s spontaneous (but in its own way planned) growth, outreach, and expression. And how is this achieved? By finding the balance between control and growth. The Tuileries are an example of the longevity creations with this kind of balance can attain, and encourages the idea of peaceful co-habitation in any number of ways.

Combine this New Moon energy with the other energies of the 22nd to successfully shape and guide yourself over the coming two weeks.

Full Moon in Gemini, 11 December 2019: Adjusting to Love, Adjusting to Reality

A little ahead of things, but still beautiful: ‘January Full Moon’ By George Ault 1941 {{PD}}

The Full Moon occurs at 9:11 PM PST of the 11th at 19 Gemini 51, widely opposed Pallas in Sagittarius, which is of course widely conjoined the Sun. Right away we see that what is illuminated by Full Moon events is something meant to bring wisdom, to highlight the practical, or to bring forward from us a skilled answer. This may be both trigger and reaction, a ripeness of knowledge that reaches peak and calls forth an emotional judgment and an active response. Perfecting in Gemini, this might challenge what we think, as we’re confronted by wisdom, knowledge, facts, or beliefs that question or negate our current reasoning (the opposition).

At the time of the Lunar event, we may be ‘coming down’ from some fantasy or misperception (separating square to Neptune), finding that the illusion is no longer viable. This stripping away of deception will lead to difficult confrontation with those things we’ve ignored or denied (approaching square to Black Moon Lilith), and with this we’re likely to see how we must change, how we must adjust to real-world circumstances around the present reality or restrictions the material world presents (quincunx Saturn), how we must adjust to relationships, asset needs, and/ or an expansion of our world through the Arts or through others (quincunx Venus), and the changes, all of them transformative and some of them permanent, that these adjustments will bring (quincunx Pluto).

But of course with a Full Moon we must remember this is an emotional denouement, a monthly mini-‘coming-of-age’ that shows us something that has matured and may be let go within our personal emotional landscape, the subject likely indicated by the House in the natal chart where the Lunar event occurs, or showing a range indicated by the sign/ House axis across which this event falls. This FM also trines Zeus and semi-squares Uranus, suggesting that whether we’re aware of it or not, our ambitions and desires are being served, and that revelation of this may come suddenly or in surprising ways.

The Sabian for the Full Moon is, ‘A Modern Cafeteria Displays An Abundance Of Food, Products Of Various Regions’. What comes to mind is this: we may be confused by the abundance of seemingly-appealing things on offer; we may not see that this Full Moon requires discernment applied to several areas of life. We may think we can sample, take our time, enjoy the exotic and unfamiliar–but the Full Moon contacts tell us that kind of leisurely experience is better left for another time. Right now we’re trimming and choosing according to what needs our attention, not adding to our repertoire or trying out the unusual. We’re on a mission of sorts, one that asks us to confront the ignored, to deal with change/ modification in several areas, to better fit the mental approach to the real-world scenario, with the goal of both making our path better reflect our aims, and of bending things more to what’s wise, practical, and useful. Don’t be distracted by all the world has to offer–it will all still be there when we’re done with this Full Moon energy.

The Sun, which offers its light and so creates the Full Moon from our vantage on Earth, also has a Sabian: ‘In An Old-Fashioned Northern Village Men Cut The Ice Of A Frozen Pond For Use During The Summer’. Again, the theme of what’s useful, practical, with a sense of planning ahead. It may be that Full Moon events arise out of a need that we may or may not be conscious of, a need to think about tomorrow, perhaps without falling into the trap of only thinking; instead circumstances around the FM help us translate our thought into action, perhaps in anticipation of the Mars-Neptune conjunction in Pisces occurring June 12th, which gives us all a big push to make dreams happen.

3 June 2019 New Moon in Gemini: Evolved Beyond

‘Butterflies’ By Odilon Redon c1910 {{PD}}

The New Moon occurs at 3:01 AM PDT of the 3rd at 12 Gemini 33. This event makes only two reasonably close aspects to other bodies: a semi-square to Vesta and a trine to Pallas. A New Moon in Gemini ushers in a new way of thinking, probably centered in the matters of the House of the natal chart within which this falls. The aspects tell us that what arises from (or sometimes ushers in) this change is a challenge to the highest values, something that comes forward and dares us to defend our commitment, our cause, what we honor or find sacred–and the great thing about this is that it shows us the wisdom (or lack of it) within our choice. Is our energy well dedicated? Are we on a sinking ship? Have our values and priorities changed over time such that this cause isn’t really ours, anymore? The New Moon shows us, in largest terms, how and where we have evolved beyond the current ideas we carry–and that will carry clues as to where we put that energy now.

The Sabian symbol for this New Moon is, ‘A Famous Pianist Giving A Concert Performance’. Considering that the NM event contacts Vesta, the body that describes what we revere, what we ‘worship’, in many senses, and that it also contacts Pallas, which can describe skills, we might see this symbol as expression of a well-developed skill or ability. The New Moon, then, might show us either that we have reached a peak in development in some area where we’ve dedicated ourselves and now must find a new form or direction, or it shows us the potential for mastery that dedication will bring.

The House in the natal chart that holds Gemini should offer some personal guidance and some hint as to what the New Moon might bring, and for all of us, it offers a ‘new way’ to think of something important to us, something that may be vital to the overall health and development of the Collective, and to our contribution to it.

For those born with the Sun at 13 Gemini. Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–together these offer a more complete picture of your year ahead). Dear Gemini, what is it that you’ve just begun? The solar year, through to your next birthday, may be keyed to this, or to some Lunar (read, ‘intuitive or emotional’) matter that is developing, growing, and that may figure large in your life very soon. Down sides to your year may feature a too-fixed mindset that doesn’t accept a new idea easily, and a tendency to exaggerate both your own willingness to do something and your ability to do it, and Up sides include rewards commensurate with the extent of honest, serious change you undertake. At some point there may be a showdown over personal power issues, but if you remind yourself of what really matters to you, you’ll know exactly how to handle it. Good luck!

The post for 2 June follows at 7 AM Pacific time on the 1st, as usual.

22 November 2018 Full Moon in Gemini: This Beginning

‘The Nickel Belt’ By Franklin Carmichael 1928 {{PD}}

The Full Moon falls at 00 Gemini 52 at 9:39 PM PST on the 22nd. Though under other circumstances we might consider it conjoined Sedna, it’s past contact, and may better represent where we’re coming from: the subliminally loaded atmosphere that preceded the Full Moon ‘wake up’ in a retro Mercury ruled Gemini. The FM is opposed Jupiter and in wide square to Mars (in effect forming a T-square), in wide sextile to Chiron and wide trine to the South Node. (When I specify ‘wide’ for an aspect, I’m speaking relatively, considering the event requires fairly close contact, and the strength of the aspect itself affects just how much of a range to consider.)

A Full Moon delivers something to us, completed, perfected, an ending, conclusion, or denouement that, in this case, sparks the germ of some brand new idea. So very early in Gemini, the FM says, ‘From that ending comes this beginning.’ What flickers may be dim, held somewhere in the back of consciousness, or may seem to face insurmountable facts or beliefs (Jupiter opp) or may contradict (the square) our own Will, choices, or actions (Mars), but will be both healing (Chiron) and bring forward useful facets of the past (SN)–and that should reassure us that what begins here, much as the ego may fight it, is really a good thing. Whatever it calls us to do, change, or be, whatever the suggestion put forward by the Lunar light, it will be a big deal, if not now, then when it finally grows from germ to bud, which may be the point when you see why this idea, thought, or communication (Gemini) matters so much.

The Sabian for the Full Moon in Gemini is, ‘A Glass-Bottomed Boat Reveals Undersea Wonders’. What’s conveyed (the symbol of the boat as conveyance) is clear to us, if we’ll only look down (the SN past). Viewed through the lens of emotions (the water) we begin to understand something that was hidden to us (undersea), before now. It’s this understand that sparks the new idea in the mind, the one that finds its origins at this point in the Lunar cycle.

We also look at the source of the light for a Full Moon; the Sabian for the Sun is, ‘Retired Army Veterans Gather To Reawaken Old Memories’. This image emphasizes the importance of the past, reawakened to inform the Now, and possibly points to the way we may need, in this particular instance, to ‘retire’ the Warrior spirit of Mars, if only so that we can have an inner quiet that allows the new idea to grow. We must look at what from the past has survived the conflict (the war that made them veterans), and what it can tell us about healing in the present, or even about how best to interact with social influences (Jupiter), especially those we have resisted (FM opposition/ conj Sun).

Look carefully at these children. Jacek Malczewski 1896 {{PD}}

If you celebrate Thanksgiving at this time, I wish you a wonderful holiday–and for everyone else, a wonderful week! I’ll be taking a bit of time off from the Daily posts, but will return before you know it 🙂

21 November 2018 Harmonious Chord

‘La Répétition de Chant’ By Edgar Degas c1873 {{PD}}

We must face what we’ve been hiding from ourselves, what we’ve been in denial about, what enrages us, the injustices right in front of us that we’ve let go by, until now. In the run up to the Full Moon in Gemini we feel it pressing, still subliminal but urgent. It’s a matter of finding a harmonious chord with the group, of finding our ‘tribe’ and letting them know we as individuals belong. There’s something supremely healthy in making this declaration; it offers the freedom we’ve been looking for, and we may make adjustments to our Self-expression or our group involvement because of it.

Today’s word image is a fish. I’m thinking this may take any number of forms, different for each of us. Just take note of when or where fish come up in your day (saying this in my head as I type makes me want to laugh–“where fish come up in your day”–right?–as if we routinely bump into them on the street!) Logos, visual representations, aquariums, and fish sandwiches all count, and may clue you in to an important moment or something you should notice at that time. Good hunting (or should I say trolling? No, not on the interwebs!)

New Moon 13 June 2018 Reaching for More

No matter how humble our aspirations, this New Moon will have us reaching for more (or better). By Jules Bastien-Lepage 1876 {{PD}}

The New Moon occurs in Gemini on the 13th at 22 Gemini 44, at 12:43 PM Pacific time. The event, with Ceres, forms the base of a loose Finger of God, apex Black Moon Lilith, which of course is an empty point in space–so, symbolically, the New Moon helps point to what isn’t there, at least not yet, but can be felt, like a shift in the tone of a room, in an attitude. We might be tempted to see Pluto as co-apex, but don’t–it’s too wide for the quincunx to Ceres to count, though the NM perfects close enough to its quincunx to be counted, drawing in the power and danger Pluto’s presence can signal through the NM itself–so indicating timing, most likely, a Plutonian element at or near the NM moment. This configuration suggests that Nature, a maternal or authority figure, or ourselves, in the position of exerting our Will/ authority within a situation/ or exerting our position and its prerogatives, may act at the time of the New Moon and set in motion something powerful but invisible–something that stirs Black Moon Lilith’s depths of hidden, ignored, or denied matters, or of rage or injustice.

The only other aspects within reasonable orb are a sextile to Juno and a sesquiquadrate to Mars. These suggest that whatever our current position of empowerment or status (Juno) we easily (and probably immediately) reach for what power that gives us; perhaps this is the fuel to the Finger’s fire, where we step into ‘greater than’ territory (Ceres), potentially stepping on a few toes, promoting ourselves, and/ or taking as our own a more potent role. This action, and/ or our choices (Mars) may be awkward, in terms of fitting with our current position, but that’s the point: this New Moon fosters a Will or an opportunity to take a larger role, to be more than we have been, and though this stirs buried upsets, it also gives us a chance to grow, and to grow our influence.

The Sabian symbol for the New Moon is, ‘Three Fledglings In A Nest High In A Tree’. The fledglings are the ideas we’ll test, the power assertions we’ll try, and possibly the upsets or buried material we’ll bring out into the open–at this point we’ll see if our new role, efforts, or assertions ‘fly’, or plummet to a quick end–and that will tell us where to put our energies in the immediate future.

I’m offering a seasonal special, here—

Your Weekend 2-3 December 2017 Lunar Domination

Albert Aublet – ‘Selene’ 1879 {{PD}}

The Full Moon in Gemini falls on the 3rd at 7:47 AM Pacific time at 11 Gemini 40, and in spite of a host of other aspects forming this weekend, dominates the atmosphere, at least in part because of its to-the-degree connections to Neptune (to which the axis forms a T-square) and Jupiter (quincunx the FM event). Too, Mars and Juno-Hygeia form the base for a Fist of God with the Full Moon as apex, and Uranus-Pallas, close together in Aries, form a semi-square to the FM, and it all happens roughly 9 hours after Mercury’s apparent motion shifts to retrograde–and that’s all, but damn, isn’t that enough?

These contacts promise that what culminates, ends, presents itself completely formed, or resolves will challenge us on a creative, spiritual, or idealistic level, presenting us with a scenario that forces us to act in a way that defines one or more Neptunian areas (including those areas ruled by Neptune in the personal natal chart)–and that shows us the way our beliefs need to be modified, and/ or the facts accommodated (Jupiter quincunx).

The Fist smacks us with an issue centered in conflict between a healthy sense of personal authority and aggression or egocentricity, our own or others’. Our natural reaction is to fight an incursion on our autonomy (or what we believe is our autonomy, if we are in full-ego mode), in this instance with the resolution offered by the circumstances of the Full Moon, and as with the rest of the activity, the focus is likely to be mental (Gemini), as we process the meaning and implications of what’s occurring. However, the status of Mercury, newly retro, suggests that even if we seem to see the whole picture, understand the facts or issues, or know the lay of the land, we can’t possibly–it’s almost guaranteed we’ll be making choices blind (relatively speaking), and under stress (Merc retro at 29 degrees).

The semi-square may be the most prominent bit initially, as it suggests sudden actions taken at an individual level that are either very wise, or very stupid, precipitating all the other Full Moon effects (though Mars opposed Uranus on the 1st, then opposed Pallas, contra-parallel Uranus, and and quincunx Sedna on the 2nd, followed by a sesquiquadrate to Neptune on the 3rd, scream of a possible series of bad choices, or possibly out-of-control or hyper-spontaneous or deluded ones, that lead to that precipitating move).

Anita Rée ‘Head of a Girl’ {{PD}}

The Sabian for the Full Moon is, ‘A Negro Girl Fights For Her Independence In The City’. Set aside the antiquated language, and we have the image of someone who, in Western society (‘The City’), might have to fight much harder than others do to gain her autonomy, or even to get adequate consideration. Again, we have the ‘language’ of the Fist, and the need to guard our own healthy sense of personal authority. This suggests that the Full Moon result will create the need for struggle, and possibly also the personal need to declare one’s independence from something or someone that has exerted undue influence, held an advantage, that has ‘kept one down’ for far too long, or that is now trying to impose their Will (echoing the Fist and the Mars activity leading up to the Full Moon).

Nandina and Rooster from the Colorful Realm of Living Beings by Itō Jakuchū, c. 1761-65 (Edo Period) {{PD}}

The Sabian for the Sun, which originates the light that makes the appearance of the Full Moon from our stance on Earth possible, is, ‘A Flag Turns Into An Eagle; The Eagle Into A Chanticleer Saluting The Dawn’. To my mind this suggests that at least some of the Full Moon circumstance/ what draws our attention at this time is related to the political situation in the US. We see a sense of country morphing into a rather aggressive symbol, that then morphs into a crowing rooster–a step down for the eagle! The eagle maintains a certain dignity–seeking prey is part of what it does, so no one should be surprised that it indulges in predatory behavior perfectly reflective of its nature. A rooster, however, makes a lot of noise, crowing about something (‘The Dawn’) that will occur whether he announces it or not–so in a way, almost as if he’s taking credit for it. Sound familiar? If you live somewhere else, your conclusions may vary 🙂

Mercury retrogrades very late in the evening Pacific time of the 2nd, at 29 tense degrees of Sagittarius, possibly causing us to question what we know, or to explode over what we find out! What we need to be aware of is that, whatever happens, it’s something we need to know. Once Mercury picks up retro speed it will run right into Saturn–and that hints that what we learn with the retrograde will help us deal with some obstacle, or some facet of the reality picture–so we’ll end up being glad, even though initially the revelation may be stressful.

The only other thing I’d like to mention is the Jupiter trine to Neptune on the 2nd. This could be an island of ideal opportunity, creative expansion or outreach, or expanded expression or sense of spirituality, that comes forward in the midst of mild mental chaos, or it could act to exaggerate delusions or misperceptions that will fuel those Martian choices, actions, and so results, that come with the Full Moon.

And here’s a post on Merc retrograde you might find worthy of review—

Have a wonderful weekend!

25 May 2017 The New Moon in Gemini: The Germinal Spark

They’ve got New Moon ideas. Carl Bloch – ‘In a Roman Osteria’ {{PD}}

This New Moon may be like a little *ping*, almost unnoticeable, so distracted will we be from the new start, inception, or burgeoning issue it represents. The New Moon makes only one aspect, forming apex to a very loose Fist of God with base of Zeus square Juno (There is an argument to be made for a sextile to Vesta, as well, but no, it’s 3 full degrees–a little more than I like for a crisp Moon picture). This suggests something interesting: that we’ll have an idea, a thought, become aware of some germinal seed, just beginning, that comes to us at the same time we experience a conflict or upset, a clash between what empowers us and what we want–and those topics are so compelling that we may have a difficult time holding on to that new concept, that just-starting idea, that could grow into something great. Whether the idea comes to us as a result of the conflict, or is subsumed in the course of the conflict, we will be presented with a mental ‘spark’ of one kind or another; it’s up to us to refuse to wrangle with others (especially partners–Zeus in Libra) over our desires, and whether we have the clout, the support structure, or can show Self-restraint or follow the rules sufficiently (Juno in Capricorn) to fulfill our ambitions. It’s in this sort of dust-up that our New Moon idea can be lost, as we are tempted to focus on justifying, explaining, or proving that we both deserve what we aim for and are capable of getting it. We don’t need to explain ourselves to anyone–and we deplete ourselves if we use our energy to explain and plead, rather than to be and do.

By Larry Abramson – http://www.imj.org.il/imagine/collections/item.asp?itemNum=312005, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=17453944

So what’s the nature of the spark we’ll get? Look to the matters of the House where the New Moon falls for you. It may be an idea on one or more of the House topics, could present a sudden and fresh way of dealing with a long-standing related problem, or could be something we hear or read, a message or statement not necessarily meant for us, but just what we needed to be privy to, to realign our thinking or open our mind to a new way of reasoning or seeing. If the New Moon forms aspects to your natal placements, these are also clues as to what may contribute to the spark for you–and in particular, pay attention to Houses ruled, if any, by natal placements contacted by the NM. These can show a synergy that connects and combines matters into a single issue. For instance, if the New Moon falls in your 3rd, square your Virgo Sun in 6th, with Sun ruling the 5th, you could see a change in the daily routine (6th) as you get a new contract (3rd) related to your creative output (5th). This same combo could refer to a new creative idea (3rd, 5th) that causes you to take a particular job, or to change the one you have (6th). Or, you take a short trip (3rd) to gamble (5th) and lose your job! (6th) You get my drift.

The Sabian for the New Moon is, “A Revolutionary Magazine Asking For Action”. Words can educate us, move us to a cause, inform and inflame–but at this time we must take care to keep our attention on our goals. We can try to explain our ideas, try to enlist others to our side, but in the end, this is energy, as the Fist tells us, that’s better spent actually pursuing what we want. To change the world feels good, but it happens in the doing, not in the talking about doing–something to keep in mind as we deal with today’s influences and events.

We also see a passel of other distractions, presented through relationships, finances, and a reality picture that forces us to adjust our thinking by making it impossible not to deal with what we’ve up to now ignored, denied, or been enraged by. We may be told by others that only the future matters; what really counts now is to accept, even love, change–it’s not just the only way to stay sane, it leaves that much more of our energy and attention for our own use.

The AstroEssence: Prior to the culmination of the Moon-Earth/ Sun-Saturn opposition, we’ll likely be caught up with the power situation as it exists in our world, and particularly with two facets of it: what kind of hurt other power players or those in authority may have inflicted in the past, and how we might exploit and deploy our own urges toward gaining power via opportunities, especially in the form of satisfying appetites. Though this can prompt a little more navel-gazing and a few more vengeance fantasies than are productive, we are keyed toward obtaining power or influence within a situation only in the smartest way–and so we likely avoid indulging in anything either counter-productive or that triggers negative consequences down the road (Chiron contra-parallel Ceres, Pluto nov Pallas, Jupiter conj Zeus)

Full Moon in Gemini occurs at 4:05 PM Pacific time at 22 Gemini 25. The Mystic Rectangle of which the Full Moon is a part actually formed a couple of days ago, but the FM will probably bring the potentials initiated by formation to completion, realization, or expression–that is, something that only began to show itself or take shape just before or early in the weekend (maybe even gathering momentum out of our sight) now reaches fulfillment, becomes obvious, or concludes. The arms of the Mystic Rectangle are made up of: Moon-Earth in Gemini, Ceres-Uranus in Aries, Sun-Saturn in Sagittarius, Jupiter-Zeus in Libra. Active modalities are Cardinal and Mutable, Elements involved are Air and Fire, and we may have a more-than-usually high chance of the Full Moon events having a material or environmental, real-world impact, not just via the Cardinal energy, but due to the involvement of Earth, Saturn, and Ceres. Mental perceptions play a part as well, through Uranus (the intellect), Gemini, and Libra–and we may put beliefs in both the mental and emotional categories (Jupiter), with emotions a natural component of a Full Moon, which typically reveals, concludes, or completes a feeling response or emotional perception in relation to ourselves and our identity (the Sun)–but in what arena?

This little cocktail is a 'Bittersweet Symphony

First though, what does a Mystic Rectangle promise? Think of it as a kind of cocktail made of energy. Each component gives us a single, unique ‘taste’, but it’s only when everything is combined in just the right amounts that it takes on a nuanced flavor that goes beyond any one ingredient. A Mystic Rectangle is the proportional ‘mix’ that creates a sum much bigger than its parts by bringing together at least four disparate but harmoniously relating energies–in this case, we have eight. These energy ‘flavors’ play off each other, acting as both receivers and catalysts, and so acting and being acted upon. Add to this the emotional and conclusive states inherent in the Full Moon, and we have something both dynamic, indicating the relationships of these bodies and the way they create something larger than they could individually, and something complete, meaning that the energy of the mix finds a final, definitive form at this point, and it’s likely something that brings an emotional perception or reality to a peak, or to an end.

Where the Full Moon falls, as well as where each of the Rectangle’s points falls, within the natal chart will tell the individual where in the life this dynamic will be in play; the general pattern, though, tells us that the synergy of the emotional impact of our surroundings and how we think of these (the Moon-Earth in Gemini) bring original or unusual individual responses that urge action and use of power, the kind that makes a statement about who we are that we want others to see or hear (Ceres-Uranus in Aries), and this statement affects our real-world situation (Sun-Saturn in Sagittarius), revealing beliefs and facts about the kind of cooperation or support we can expect in fulfilling our wants and ambitions (Jupiter-Zeus in Libra). The Full Moon shows the result of a complex interaction of the actual reality situation and our perceptions of it, especially our emotional perceptions.

There is also a quincunx of the Full Moon to Black Moon Lilith, a trine to Mars, and a square of Chiron with the Sun-Earth axis. This suggests that, though a Mystic Rectangle is a generally fortuitous configuration, implying the potential for serendipitous circumstances and ‘coincidences’ and really excellent timing of events and choices, these may come about through or are accompanied by difficulties. There is the possibility that the Full Moon brings or is followed by the uncomfortable need to examine what has been ignored, denied, or that has enraged, and this comes with both conflict over wounds inflicted and received and how they’ve shaped Self-expression and accomplishment, and creates a strong, no-holds-barred sense of needing to act, to do something about what’s perceived. That tells us that, though we may be highly conscious of and possibly actively involved with stresses at the time of the Full Moon, there will be available a set of positive synchronicities that we will most likely first become aware of through the feeling nature, and/ or through some kind of completion or ending–and if we can hook that urge to act to the symmetry of the Rectangle, we can take leaps forward in both consciousness and accomplishment.

The Sabian for the Full Moon is, ‘Three Fledglings In A Nest High In A Tree’ In this symbol we have a ‘Trinity’ of something new, untested, ‘fresh’, ready (or very close to ready) to ‘leave the nest’ for the first time. This implies that whatever is completed at the Full Moon will then be ready for a ‘test flight’, to be taken out and tried in the real world. This sends us back to the point of the Rectangle that holds Jupiter-Zeus in Libra; Jupiter can represent the social order, the wider world, ‘the facts’ this world presents to us, and echoes the relation of Beliefs (Jupiter) to the spiritual number of the Trinity within the symbol. The matters of whatever House holds 18 Libra in your chart will describe where or in what capacity (what role) you will be bringing the Full Moon experience, after processing, out into the world, both to test its viability and to test its spiritual resiliency. In some way, what we are testing in the world will reflect our ambitions or wants, and we bring this forward with the goal of finding out how much support we might expect, and how these fledglings (ideas, choices, actions, creations) will affect our relationships and even our finances (Libra).

We also look to the Sabian for the Sun, as this gives us the ‘origin story’, the energy that drives the Full Moon picture. ‘A Group Of Immigrants As They Fulfill The Requirements Of Entrance Into The New Country’. This suggests that what occurs or is accomplished at this time is something we’ve been moving toward for a long time, something we have (literally or figuratively) studied for, filed the paperwork for, uprooted ourselves for, gone on an adventure for, left behind a previous life for, and/or crossed borders or boundaries to attain. We are on the threshold of something akin to a brand new life–let’s savor it.
