Believe me, the last thing I want to do is add to the current stressful atmosphere, but I have to acknowledge the axiom ‘As Above, So Below’; the Zeitgeist is reflected in the Full Moon situation, and the Lunar picture conveys some specifics about what’s coming at us–and we may find out the disturbing factors aren’t necessarily what we think they are. Just being alive means we can’t avoid the mess of modern life; might as well check the skies for guidance (and if we’re really connecting with the Universe, inspiration).

The Full Moon perfects on 6 October 2025 at 8:47 PM PDT at 14 Aries 08 and makes no major contacts–so let’s start with the atmosphere into which the Aries Full Moon makes its statement. Notable will be Mercury’s quincunx to Neptune and Uranus, forming a Finger of God; Mercury’s also square Pluto. This can take many forms, but the essence will be sudden revelation about hard Truths or reality vs deception that reveals what’s beneath the surface (Merc in Scorpio)–and we likely won’t like what we hear, especially as it might create power struggles. Uranus is trine Pluto=change, transformation, or destruction may be (relatively) easy, because of its sudden or surprising nature, or because it’s relentlessly modern, crowding out the old. And Venus, current ruler of the Sun, sits at the midpoint of Jupiter and the Black Moon Lilith point=what stands in the way of getting to the good stuff? Requirements levied by the current social order, as well as those matters we’ve buried, ignored, denied. As long as we worry what others will think, and as long as we lie to ourselves, we won’t reach the payoff–it’s both that difficult, and that straightforward. Remember that Jupiter is on its way to trine with Saturn, in about one month; that means we’re heading toward reaping the results (‘the facts’) around reality and manifestation of what’s at present ethereal rather than material. We’re (probably overly) optimistic at this point–it would be better to see reality unvarnished and truly be willing to examine where the current path actually leads.

Now to the Lunar event itself. The Moon is semi-square Uranus, and is apex to a loose Finger of God with base of South Node and Mars (though the latter is very wide–4 degrees–we’re dealing with the fast-moving Moon, so I’m willing to count this). So we get an emotional shock or surprise, too, a personal one, that stems from a mixture of the past and our own actions and choices. The Sun, giver of light and author of this entire show, is sesquiquadrate Uranus and quincunx the Moon’s North Node, reinforcing the difficulty of the shock/ surprise/ modern times energy and also pointing to the adjustments that will need to be made in future, if we stay the present course.

Now let’s look to contact with smaller bodies; these help define the Moon’s contacts to major players, as well as help describe the character of the energies involved. In this case I think they fall into two broad categories: Power expression, and Trouble. On the positive side, we have the Moon’s trine to Vesta=no matter what the Full Moon brings, we know our priorities and values, what we honor, and we stick to it. That’s reassuring, descriptive of a strong core that won’t be overly swayed by externals. The Moon is also trine a pairing of Amor and Icarus in Sagittarius=uh-oh, our first trouble spot: Love, in its purest and least ‘judgmental’ state (not romantic, but encompassing of many kinds of regard and affection), will tempt us not to respect realities, such as boundaries, limits, our own vulnerabilities, and what’s wise in the moment.

Then there are two squares the Moon makes to bodies in Cancer, one consisting of Hades and Kronos, one of Circe and Isis (though these pairings are about 5 degrees from each other). The first two are ‘hellish’ in nature, representing torments of the individual, and with Kronos’ attempts to control the future arising out of fear; the latter two are energies of controlling others, to the point of reassembling them! That, as we know, can make for a Frankenstein. These suggest tough interactions, with everybody believing they know what everyone else deserves, and an extreme lack of boundaries within those interactions, such that we may feel subject to others’ choices no matter what. And finally, there’s the Moon’s quincunx to Nemesis, which only reinforces the confrontational energies in play–and that others don’t necessarily have our best interests at heart.

The Sabian symbol for the Full Moon is, ‘An Indian Weaving A Ceremonial Blanket’. The Sun’s Sabian, which should help illuminate the Moon meaning, is ‘Circular Paths’. This suggests to me that too much distance from what’s happening (that is, trying to treat it objectively, rather than personally) might make our actions nothing but ceremonial–that is, not having an impact on the real world picture, but instead sending us in circles–in effect, distracting us. And that’s the last thing we need to be to navigate what’s ahead.

A Full Moon in Aries is about bringing to full power who we are, what we choose, and how we act, and this one may prove exceptionally challenging, as what we accept and support now gives shape and contours to our future. As long as we remember that, we’ll choose and act in ways that are best for us–and that’s what counts. Yes, the Lunar event may bring us a fresh hell, but it’ll be our fresh hell, unique to our situation, but ultimately solvable by us, too, as we remember our values, our priorities, and what we truly care about.

‘The Love Potion’ By Evelyn de Morgan 1903 {{PD}}

The Full Moon perfects at 4:27 AM PDT of the 17th at 24 Aries 35, with the Moon conjoined Chiron and a loose Cardinal Grand Cross formed with the Sun/ Earth-Moon axis by Mars in Cancer and tense 29 degree Pluto in Capricorn. This suggests action, perhaps extreme action, motivated by emotional hurt, or at least a tenderness around the feeling or intuitive nature that pushes one to choose, to take the ‘next step’, possibly out of fear or a deep desire for change. The energy around the event is precipitous, even dangerous, due to the amount of unconscious material that may push us to act. We can only hope that what we want to change or eliminate (Pluto) is something established, that we’ve already considered changing for a long time (Capricorn), and it will definitely be something we personally care about and see as our responsibility (Mars in Cancer, Aries Moon). Best case scenario is that this Lunar culmination offers potent healing, a chance at permanent change that rebalances personal power across the ‘I Am’/ ‘We Are’ axis (Aries/ Libra).

Remember, all arms of a Grand Cross are activated at once; that means we must recognize that, no matter what form these Cardinal energies take, they are connected, with action in one area affecting all the others. So, that scary Plutonian ultimatum may seem isolated from our beef with our partner (Libra Sun), and both those may seem unconnected to hurt arising from something we ourselves have done (Chiron conj Moon in Aries), but the reality is that each situation feeds off the others–and that means that sources of hurt, change, and actions may all become confused. We may think it’s our partner’s fault something is ending, when our own wounded nature has actually set up the hurtful circumstances so they’re aimed straight at us; or we may in some way feel ‘we have no choice’, and so fail to see that, even in the most dire circumstances, we actually do–it’s just that in our minds, we lack acceptable options, not genuine alternatives.

Consider that what we demand from the landscape, our surroundings, from others, from our lives, only spans a very particular range; perhaps we need to acknowledge that the unacceptable or undesired must become so, in order to open those possible options, and so radically change our viewpoint. Remember, too, that healing doesn’t necessarily mean we will go back to an old state of what we see as ‘whole’; it may instead mean a new state, with the interim period time spent in our very own chrysalis, the Full Moon a new step forward in regeneration, in being remade.

The Jupiter sextile to the Moon-Earth-Chiron is exact by degree to Chiron, suggesting what hurts is exaggerated, overdone, or presents big new opportunity, or may even represent optimistic thinking (Gemini) around the potential for healing or expression of one’s unique, natal Chiron gift. Also of note is Venus sextile Pluto, both at 29 degrees, of Scorpio and Capricorn, respectively. This is not just a potential, it’s a demand from the Universe: Love your Transformation, because this change is here to stay. If you carry a natal planet or point at 21-24 Scorpio that puts that natal entity at the apex of a Finger of God, with your natal point describing some facet of the outcome of learning to love what’s changing in or around us.

The Full Moon Sabian symbol is, ‘The Possibility For Man To Gain Experience At Two Levels Of Being’. That doesn’t call for much explanation, does it? At this Full Moon point we’ll have one foot in our current state, one in the ‘new’ state just reaching readiness–and that’s a unique spot, one that allows us to see our present with a previously unavailable clarity and understanding that we can now carry forward, into our developing circumstances and state of Being.

We also look at the Sun’s Sabian for a Full Moon: ‘The Sight Of An Autumn Leaf Brings To A Pilgrim The Sudden Revelation Of The Mystery Of Life And Death’. We are the Pilgrim, obvs, a person in search of something that has a distinctly spiritual flavor–and the time is right now (Autumn), when we are slated to receive some of the most important information we’ll ever get (the ‘Life And Death’ nature of that info). The word ‘revelation’ points us, in my mind, directly toward the energies of Uranus, and when we look we see that body is a busy bee: it works into the Full Moon Lunar picture obliquely, by quincunx to the Sun, semi-sextile to the Moon-Earth (but not Chiron), sextile Neptune and wide sextile to Mars, trine Pluto, and opposing that stressed Venus (I’d mention Pluto’s ongoing stress, but we’ve lived with it so long, it’s starting to fade into background noise–but just imagine the relief when it finally leaves Capricorn for good!) This revelation, then, is not about that potent healing available to us if we are open to current energies (Chiron is ‘missing’), but something ‘other’, namely, Love, the state of Being we discover when we see the whole picture and vibrationally (that is, in attitude) rise above it. It’s a creative energy, one that calls for adjustment of our idea of who we are, even what we are, as well as requiring our acceptance that there are things beyond our control that in the same breath, the same moment, will deliver us to a perfect state of Love. Not bad, getting a glimpse of the eternal, and of the most potent healing force in the Universe–now just open your arms, and take it in.

Bonus: if you have a natal placement between 25 Cancer and 2 Leo, that body fills in a Water Grand Trine with Neptune and Venus, implying you have the chance to experience an ideal Love, in some form, whether that’s finding the love of your life, falling into it with a puppy, utilizing a talent, or discovering a new depth of feeling and understanding with someone who up to now may have been a problematic relationship or matter you’re dedicated to. The nature of and state of the natal body will describe what you can expect, what style this ideal Love may arrive in. Lucky you–savor it.

To all my Readers: have a wonderful weekend!

Full Moon in Aries 29 September 2023 The Courage to Chart Our Own Course

Are you going to trust yourself, or listen to some guy who’s pointing? Pilot Officer J H Smythe of Sierra Leone, a newly-qualified navigator, being instructed in the use of the sextant by an instructor at No. 11 Operational Training Unit, Westcott in Buckinghamshire, 1 August 1943. CH10740.jpg {{PD}}

The Full Moon perfects at 2:57 AM PDT of the 29th at 6 Aries 00, forming a loose T-square with an arm of Vesta in Cancer and opposed by the Sun and Pallas, together in Libra; the FM also sesquiquadrates a close conjunction of Venus and Juno in Leo, and quincunxes Ceres in Scorpio. Is there such a thing as a subtle hit with a hammer, a gentle punch in the face? That’s what we’re likely to get in some form, with the aggressive Self assertion of Cardinal Aries taking a Lunar (and so emotion-fueled, nebulous, fleeting, changeable) state. The tension comes from what we care about, are dedicated to, are committed to (square to Vesta), with the challenge presented by Self interests (Aries), probably of a material or security-oriented nature (Moon conjoined Earth), as they face off against the interests of others (Libra). The thing is, others may have the current zeitgeist on their side (Sun), and may have the advantage of seeming wise or practical (Pallas), in contrast to the I Want of the individual–but what we need to know is, that doesn’t make others’ interests more ‘right’, more important, or a better choice for us personally than our own.

We’ll need courage and confidence to face an atmosphere that is filled with the message, “We know what’s best for you.” That comes if we can live with and function beyond the discomfort (the sesquiquadrate) of Venus-Juno (empowerment via the anima energy, that of aligning ourselves with our receptive essence, a Beingness rather than a Doingness, in sync with Love rather than Duty) and the irritation (the quincunx) generated within us by authorities (or those who think they’re authorities!) with nominal dominion over our world.

The Venus-Juno combo is of particular importance, as being located in Leo reinforces autonomy; that is, if we can locate our own sense of being responsible for and capable of running our own lives, we can tap that courage and surety needed to follow what Luna calls us toward, rather than what everyone else thinks we should do. And what does this Full Moon promise? A path forward, a way to achieve what we want, that is truly resonant with our core spirit. It offers us an individual emotional yardstick by which to measure our need to do or be certain things, and in the process, shows us the only permission we need is our own approval of what we’ve chosen; all we have to do is be willing to be responsible for those choices.

Note too that Venus-Juno is square Uranus in Taurus and sextile Mars-Zeus in Libra. That tells us that a sudden twist or difficulty isn’t an impediment, it’s a necessary part of getting us to go in the right direction (and again, that direction is unique to us, probably at odds with the group), while with the appropriate spirit of cooperation or partnership, the correct support, our energy combined with others will set us on the path of fulfilling ambitions. It’s about finding those who truly support us and our efforts, as opposed to those who merely see us as players in their dramas. Remember, too, that there are others who’ll look to you for this support in their lives–don’t be too busy chasing your own dreams to help them, as well.

The Sabian for the Full Moon is, ‘A Square, With One Of Its Sides Brightly Illumined’. The thing about a square is that all sides are equal–and this may be the message of the Full Moon: it’s time for you to shine, while still remembering others have just as much worth as you. It’s a ‘First Among Equals’ situation, with each person’s uniqueness honored, and given a time to shine, even as we recognize all are entitled to a moment in the Sun. The Sun’s Sabian for this Full Moon is, ‘A Man Watches His Ideals Taking A Concrete Form Before His Inner Vision’. This might be the atmosphere: one of anxiousness, as each of us sees certain ideals (or fears) materializing–that may be the tension that makes some reach out, try to control others, entreat them to take the ‘safe’ option–but only the individual can decide what should be risked, what they must do.

Full Moon 9 October 2022: Who Are You, What Do You Feel?

‘One Who Understands’ By Paul Klee 1934 {{PD}}

The Full Moon in Aries forms just after first Earth and then the Moon pass over Chiron–and that Chiron is involved in a T-square opposed Venus and square Pallas, begging the question: if that relationship or money thing was so smart, so practical, or such a good use of your skills, assets, or talents, why did it hurt? Or even more confounding, if it didn’t hurt. A Full Moon offers us answers, or at least endings, and in Aries those endings address the ‘I Am’, identity, and our choices and actions. We are likely to have laid at our feet revelation about how we’re processing emotionally some significant recent event–we’d be wise to examine it for the larger message, the one that makes a statement about who we are at our core, right now. Be prepared, as this will likely challenge who we think we are, or will bring into question our actual motivations for doing as we have.

Much of the action in the chart has already occurred by the time the Full Moon arrives, though we do have a few near-future contacts to look at that will reveal what comes next: a semi-sextile to Uranus, a sextile to Saturn, and a square to the Black Moon Lilith point. A sesquiquadrate to Hygeia at 00 Sagittarius and a loose novile to Juno round out the picture. What we have before us are minor shocks, surprises, or revelations that either present barriers or bring something previously only contemplated into our reality–and this brings conflict or discomfort, as we either must deal with what we’ve ignored or denied, or must face something that enrages us. The good news is if we accept our own role in things, and are willing to do something about what we see, we will be allowed grace and true good fortune in tackling it. One important point: if what you’ve been brushing aside is a health matter, it enters a new phase at this point–for good or ill, so this may be the signal to take a new approach in this area.

Here’s the temptation: to keep our eyes trained on that Venus, which opposition is already more than three degrees past once the Full Moon occurs. Looking behind us at that person, romance, partner, asset, reward, or financial circumstance will only distract us in the now; we’re meant to get the message about this, right now, but not to try and re-live, re-litigate, or re-vive.

Then we look to Pluto, stationed direct just a day before, and we may want to blame that dark energy bringing complete and utter change for what happens–but that would be inaccurate, as Pluto is simply standing still (stationary) and offering to point out just exactly where it really does hurt, or where you must make a clean sweep in order to move on. Check the natal chart for any points or bodies Pluto at 26 Capricorn may currently be aspecting: that’s where the real action is–the Full Moon is only about showing you who you’ve become, when you weren’t looking.

The Full Moon Sabian is, ‘Two Dignified Spinsters Sitting In Silence’. What’s your immediate reaction to that image? Do you think it’s sad and depressing, as if these women have missed out on life? Or do you see it as a bit of a triumph, one that has allowed these women to operate outside patriarchal society? Do you see them as independent or oppressed, quiet in peace or quiet in despair? It’s your Rorschach for current Lunar energies, and speaks of some emotional pattern you may need to question, or at least consider from another angle (and that’s so no matter your interpretation).

We also look at the bright engine of the Full Moon, the Sun: ‘A Retired Sea Captain Watches Ships Entering And Leaving The Harbor’. Here we each enjoy a certain distance (retired) from an area of expertise–and what are each of us experts in? In knowing ourselves, of course! We understand the progress we’ve made, and can see the consequences of our choices, with both Pluto and the Full Moon giving us a kind of progress report, a check-up on what we may need to handle next.

The Lunar event itself may be fiery or dull, but in some way shines a spotlight on something about ourselves we need to acknowledge and be aware of, in order to make the best choices we can.

Have a great Full Moon experience! ‘Tis the season for meteor showers–6-10th October the Draconids are visible in the Northern Hemisphere, the 20-21st the Orionids are visible in both hemispheres, and the Leonids fly by 17-18 November, visible in both hemispheres. Dates are for best sightings in the Seattle area, but apply generally by hemisphere as well.

Full Moon in Aries 20 October 2021 Leave Anger in the Past

‘Méditation’ By Henri Rachou

Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 fr

Though the Full Moon (7:56 AM PDT of the 20th, at 27 Aries 26) seems like prime time to lash out, as Mars moves to perfect a T-square by opposing Eris and squaring Pluto (with the Eris-Pluto square only off by 9 minutes), with Mars just separating from a trine to stationing Jupiter, suggesting the time for optimism is past, we’d be wise to realize that 29-degree Sedna in its last Taurean gasp may be stirring things up we’re not consciously aware of. The Aries Full Moon may shout, ‘It’s time to look out for #1!’, with surrounding aspects (like the Mercury-Black Moon Lilith trine=thinking about what we’ve been avoiding/ ignoring, or what enrages us) prompting us to feel we’re finally ready to face things, leading us down a path of misunderstanding and anger.

The important thing to note is that the Full Moon perfects well past the Sun-Moon-Earth contact to Mars, Eris, and Pluto (their positions at 23 and 24 degrees of their respective signs), meaning that all that assertive, upset, hyper-reactive, destructive, Me First energy isn’t something to carry into the present. We may try to justify it with the FM Aries energy, believing we haven’t been standing up for ourselves–but as Maury Povich likes to declare, results in hand: “THAT would be a lie!”

In the period between Mercury’s direction and the Full Moon (just about 48 hours) we’ll be presented with a pretty clear picture of things; the question is, will we admit to ourselves that what’s revealed is the Truth? How honest you’ve been will determine how much you want to use the Arian Moon energy as an excuse to go after what you want, or to attack others. You can be sure that the stronger your urge tp aggress, the more you need to step back and take a personal accounting of reality.

That means that if you succumb to a righteous anger at the time of the Full Moon, you could make some serious mistakes. The Sun, Earth, and Moon are making contact in what is, once the Moon begins to separate, a Lunar Void condition. There are no Ptolemaic (major) aspects to come before these bodies leave the signs they’re in (there aren’t even any minor ones, except for a semi-sextile of Moon and then Earth to Sedna–with Sun quincunxing–but we’ve already accounted for this general influence).

The Sabian for the Full Moon is, ‘A Large Audiences Confronts The Performer Who Disappointed Its Expectations’. In this case, we may be both audience and performer; our job is to confront ourselves over our own behavior, assumptions–over our ‘performance’. A big dose of reality needs to be accepted; so does a reasonable (not exaggerated or martyr-ish) sense of personal responsibility. Those are the ways that Full Moon in Aries events won’t just be brought to a head, but will bring a more complete (and so secure) sense of Self.

The Sabian for the Sun, giver-of-light in the first place, is, ‘A Man Becoming Aware Of Spiritual Forces Surrounding And Assisting Him’. This suggests that we’ll be offered plenty of unseen support. The Universe will whisper at us, giving us a clear (though possibly quite subtle) direction. Will we listen? That’s a question for the ages, as they say.
