Crisis can bring unexpected things 'The Mermaid' by Pyle {{PD-Art}}

February Full Moon occurs at 12:35 AM PST on the 18th at 29 Leo 20. The Moon/ Earth conjunction is trine the North Node, opposed Chiron and Neptune, and sesquiquadrate Pallas. The dynamic is one of facing the primal wound, seeing how it has driven life choices and direction, how it may have shaped ideals, dreams, and fantasies, and adjusting according to what we know to be wise (or adjusting according to guidance obtained). It’s a very personal, synchronized set of contacts that can bring to a head questions about wounds, life direction, and the ‘smart’ choice that have been going on for some time; in fact, this may be couched in the form of a crisis, emergency, or pressure-filled ultimatum (29 degrees) in the areas signified by the natal House axis across which this Full Moon falls–luckily, we are automatically equipped to deal with what we’re handed–and in one way or another, this is the answer to something we’ve wanted settled for some time.

The Essence for 17 February 2011: The World Pushes, and We Push Back

'L'ete ou les cinq sens' Stoskopff {{PD-Art}}

5 AM Pacific kicks off a challenging set of oppositions from the Moon in Leo to other bodies that will chase away a lot of the carefree sense we may have embraced yesterday–but if we did enjoy that influence we will be much better off today, as we face some surprising conflict and some outright opposition–the respite will have fed our energy and ego, our sense of Self in a good way–and makes it much easier to meet today’s push-back. We start with Ceres, which may provide resistance to our Will from Mother Nature and/ or authorities; next it’s Mercury, where we likely just won’t like what we hear; the opp to Mars (around 7 PM PST) may pit the Self against the group or action v. thought–consider the other side’s POV, but don’t feel you must capitulate–it’s not necessary at this point to declare a ‘winner.’

The Essence for 16 February 2011: The Lion in You

Chromolithograph from the Library of Congress 1873 {{PD}}

Moon enters Leo at 1:14 AM Pacific, and we can feel the change. There’s a yawning and stretching and waking up with the leonine influence, this time around–and purring with pure animal pleasure is a distinct possibility for us during the Moon’s transit of this sign, if we can take a brief respite from our nose-to-the-grindstone attitude and embrace sensual and animal enjoyments–maybe easier said than done!

Right away we have a Finger of God with Moon apex and base of North Node and Chiron–during the same period (through 5 AM Pacific) the Moon is sesquiquadrate Saturn, as well. This offers a power point for a positive and tangible healing experience, and/ or employment of your most unique skills, the use of which can catapult you forward. Remember the Moon’s in Leo–bask in the energy!

The Essence for 15 February 2011: Losing Our Emotional Footing

Tags

c.1882 Artist Unknown

5:30 AM-ish quincunx of the Moon to Mercury suggests we should take care with communications at that point; sending and receiving may both need adjustment in order to accurately reflect the message intended. A 10:30 AM PST sextile to Sedna is followed very quickly by the Moon’s opposition to Pallas. This implies that we may lose our emotional footing, and our response may be exactly not the smart choice! Obviously, avoid acting at this point (and one of the dangers is that we may brush aside our emotional needs, believe we are acting objectively, and go forward with something disastrous, if only because it denies the emotional picture in favor of ‘getting things done.’)

Special alert for those with very late in Libra natal Neptune, or Neptune very early in Scorpio: Chiron and the South Node fill in a temporary Grand Trine, and this may exacerbate every issue connected to Neptune in your chart, to include your creativity, your spiritual perceptions, and your place in the Cosmos–all these are likely to be scrutinized with a special eye to the hurts and missteps of the past. We may be very hard on ourselves, feeling that we must sort out and declare exactly who we are in Neptunian areas. See it as a necessary review, but make an extra effort to be kind, gentle, and accepting of yourself–the tendency may to be very harsh and condemning, when what’s needed most is forgiveness and the strength to move on.

The Essence for 14 February 2011: A Personal Emotional Odyssey

Tags

'The Wounded Angel' 1903 Hugo Simberg {{PD-Art}}

We start the 14th with the Cancer Moon conjunct the South Node and trine Chiron; this might make for a very nostalgic period. If you’re awake, you’re yearning, if you’re asleep, you’re re-hashing the past–and it can be very moving, bringing the tenderest emotions to the surface, and possibly healing an old hurt.

Relief (or, significant distraction!) comes with the Moon’s opposition to Pluto, Vesta, and then Venus (stretching a full 12 hours, 8:30 AM PST to 8:30 PM) bringing that emotional tumult of earlier to the edge, straight to the deep, to connection with what we honor, the home, or the sex life, and then pitting the emotional picture against relationships and/ or finances as they exist–which can make for a jolt, after our journey to the depths and through some of the most vital areas of our lives. This can bring a new perspective to our closest interactions, and can result in changes based purely on our personal emotional odyssey–and that means that others may not understand (but then you have to ask, do they need to?)

The Essence for 13 February 2011: Fantastical Confrontations

Tags

'The Great Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed in the Sun' William Blake 1805-1810 I think we can all relate to this, don't you?

About 4 PM Pacific the Moon begins a cascade of aspects in the 27-28 degree range: a square to Juno, a trine to Neptune, followed by a square to Uranus–and of course, the Juno/ Uranus opposition forms a T with the Moon. All together, this spells power confrontations that can be grounded in the fantastical, in sentiment, or in the illusion of what one imagines it takes to be powerful. It’s easy to believe that power lies in extreme independence, in rejection of what is or of the extisting power structure, or in grabbing all the prerogatives for oneself–but we’d be better off using our imaginations and our creative energy to acquire empowerment while still respecting and honoring all involved.

The Essence for 12 February 2011: Not Fritter Away

Tags

Landscape of Norway by Konrad Magi c.1909

The Moon in Gemini can make us mentally energized–sassy, you might say–and by 4 PM PST a Grand Trine is in place, with Moon trine Mercury/ Ceres trine h.Zeus/ Saturn. This effect lasts through about 10 PM Pacific, and should bring forward a strong desire to make plans, especially ones that reflect the ambitions. Use the energy by channeling it into concrete efforts and commitments; it’s easy for this impetus to be frittered away with lots of talk, so try for best use of it. It’s also a good time for plant starts and planting seeds, in spite of the fact that we’re heading toward a Full Moon–the Grand Trine involves positive Moon energy, Ceres (Mother Nature), and Saturn (bringing into reality), which should make for a boost to what’s just initiated, whether it’s ideas or seedlings.

The Essence for 11 February 2011: Subtle Influences, Empowerment Options

Tags

,

'Vesuvius from Posillipo' Wright of Derby c.1788 {{PD=Art}}

The week’s energy is subdued; and yet, between Venus/ Pluto and Chiron into Pisces, we might expect a little more action than this! It’s there, it’s just either subtle (Pisces), hidden (Pluto), or seems seated in the past, either through deeply-rooted hurt or a resurgence of skills (Chiron)–in any case, nothing that seems terribly immediate, or originating in the here-and-now. This is confusing, to say the least, but shouldn’t result in anything more severe than putting our energy into something that only appears to need our input; in reality, it’s already settled into its own groove.

Moment to keep our eye on: around 8:30 AM the Moon trines Juno, which opposes Uranus and quincunxes Neptune. This can lay at our feet empowerment options we never imagined; and yet, they are springing from our unique creative viewpoint, and really are (even if they appear outlandish or undesirable) a product of our intents. Keep that in mind as you pick and choose and form your reactions.

The Essence for 10 February 2011: The Golden Age is Gone

Tags

,

Illustration of King Midas by Walter Crane 1893 {{PD}}

There’s a wicked sesquiquadrate between the South Node and Ceres–wicked because it is the kind of thing that sneaks in under the radar and creates its own special kind of havoc. This may push forward an idealized version of the past as ‘natural’ and many will fall for the influence (and this is only reinforced by Venus/ Pluto). With my age group I imagine it as putting the 70s on a pedestal, but it can take many forms; just think about whatever ‘golden age’ lingers in your memory that some are all too quick to characterize as ‘the good old days.’ Don’t fall for it–it’s a huge distraction from where we really want our energy to go–and those who push for resurrection the hardest may be least in touch with what the past really means (there’s a reason things, places, people fall away from our lives–it’s not sinister, it’s evolution).

The Essence for 9 February 2011: Healing or Hurting with the Taurus Moon

Tags

, , ,

Bull Franz Marc 1911 {{PD-Art}}

The Moon enters Taurus at 3:22 AM PST of the 9th; right away there’s a sextile to Chiron, setting either a hurtful or healing tone for the Taurus Moon–you must decide consciously–if you leave it to the unconscious, you could end up deeply wounded, mostly at your own hand, before this Moon leaves the sign. Chiron’s change to Pisces, plus the preference to either Cap or Aquarius energies for each individual, will inform the course of this Moon. (See ‘Been There, Done That’ for more on Chiron into Pisces).

By 11 PM PST the Moon squares Mercury and kicks off major emotional contact across that Aquarian gathering. It brings sensitivity, pulls the energy into the emotional picture, and stirs the intuition, which, if we are intellectually adept (and I don’t think you’d be one of my readers if you weren’t!) can be cross-processed through the mind for maximum illumination.
