10 January 2011: Arian Challenges

Penthesilea as One of the Nine Worthies France c.1460

By 11:30 AM the Moon sextiles Ceres and squares the Nodal axis, bringing us our first Arian challenge: will we do what comes naturally (which is likely what authorities are telling us to do) or will we buck like an unbroke horse with a load of Self-Will cinched on our backs? One choice makes things go really smoothly–you guess which one!

The 2 PM hour PST sees the Moon trine Venus in Fire–yeow! This just feels like the attitude will be on fire! If you don’t have a lot of drive, spirit, and energy at this point, then something is seriously wrong, and it’s almost certainly found in the place t Saturn is suppressing in your chart right now. This suggests a strong need to express that you are holding back on–in essence, it’s a denial of something you truly should bring out and deal with, but your own internal mechanism (likely an ego one, not wanting to rock its secure boat) is in play and working to preserve its place in things. For a few, the suppression will genuinely come from the external–and remedies will be clear.

9 January 2011: Finger of God

1:30 PM PST there’s a sextile to Sedna, bringing a time when we just can’t pinpoint our emotions–don’t try, and don’t make decisions or give answers at this point that rely on emotional judgment or perceptions.

It’s also apparent that 2 degrees is a very popular placement: Venus, the Nodes, and Ceres, and they form a Finger of God, apex South Node. This suggests that either memories of the past or past experience will be instrumental in working out something presented at this time. The circumstances will involve a need to harmonize a Venusian element of the life (relationship, finances, values) with both the life direction (NN at opposing point to apex and midpoint of Venus/ Ceres) and Mother Nature and/ or authority in some form. The challenge is very likely a balancing act, a weighing of something personally desired with an external authority’s ability to affect our having it–and once we’ve aligned it with current life direction, we will receive a benefit from past circumstances, experience, or dealings. It’s as if, in this instance, we must handle the dilemma first, before we’re allowed to see the parallels from the past, the opposite of what we typically must do.

As to the shooting of the Congresswoman and many others in Arizona yesterday, I find myself so depressed by the event that I don’t want to look at the astrology–the whole thing sickens me, especially the issuance of “We are praying for you” statements from those responsible for stirring up the hate. They’ve made fame and money off their finger pointing; maybe today’s finger of God for them personally shows just exactly how their past actions have helped to f*ck up today–but I don’t hold a lot of hope that any who are truly responsible will recognize that fact.

There is also a midpoint pic that I think probably figures in to all this, Mars at the midpoint of Mercury/ Neptune–fantasy prompting deluded action, firearms, need I go on? I don’t want to feed the energy of this event by obsessing over it–instead I’m going to send my thoughts toward healing, and I hope you will, too.

8 January 2011: A Pisces Moon, and a Little Time Travel

The 5 AM hour of the 8th sees the Pisces Moon sextile Pluto, offering a window for deep contemplation, meditation, or emotional purging, but all with a positive result. The only negative is if this hooks into your chart in a way that encourages drama instead of depth. By 9:30 AM PST the Moon is sextiling Pallas and we know whether we handled the Pluto aspect successfully, and also how to go forward with the rest of the day/ evening.

So do you remember how I wrote the wrong date yesterday, putting December instead of January, but getting the year right? I did go through the day as proposed, trying to reflect on my glimpse into the future, December 2011. From what I saw, things are good for me. There was a synchronicity with horseshoes (as a child they meant good luck to me) and some other positive feedback that was nicely reassuring. How was it for you? What messages did you receive, and how does the future look? Do you have to wear shades? 🙂

7 December, I mean, 7 January 2011: Sudden Turns

11 AM PST the Moon’s conjunct Neptune, and soon thereafter conjunct Chiron. Can we separate these two conjunctions? or must Neptune/ Chiron blend into a stringy, sticky fondue that coats the emotions (mmm, cheese metaphors!) We can separate them, oh so carefully, as they are almost an entire degree apart; that means that it’s a little like a one-two punch (or maybe nudge, or gentle smothering with a soft pillow!) The emotions undergo an exercise with these two contacts, the first likely testing the emo connection to reality via ideals and a review of what’s fantasy, what’s fact, followed immediately by an emo response of wounding or a bringing forth of skills to deal with disparities. There can be another response, one where the intuition is fully activated and connected to the Cosmos, and this offers a hotline to answers sought and insights desired, with a really strong link to activating the Chirotic skills, perhaps at an elevated, transpersonal level. A great aspect, if you can rock it!

Venus moves into 00 Sagittarius, with an interesting result–we take a sudden turn from the sex drive (in whatever form that might take, meaning it’s the passionate focus we’ve recently maintained) to a gaze that focuses on the horizon, to a want for more freedom in relationship, to an idea that value is found ‘out there’–and this is always an abrupt shift when Venus moves from Scorpio to Sag–just orient yourself to the inevitable change to what attracts your attention, and you won’t be thrown.

After Michelle at AstroFix pointed out the wrong date in the title (Thanks Michelle!) I realized that I’d actually projected a year ahead, not back to December 2010–so as an exercise, I’m going to look at everything today as carrying a special message about where I’ll be next December–you might want to try it, too!

6 January 2010: Desire Dynamic

Venus is sextile Juno, both at 29 degrees today–love and/ or finances are sought through personal empowerment and all of it feels like very strong need–there’s the sense that our particular position and requirements are like no one else’s, that the things on which our attention focuses must absolutely be fulfilled, and, probably the most interesting part, is that we are sure no one is aware of this exceptionally strong need dynamic at work–we think it’s a secret! News flash: it’s written all over us–and that means we are vulnerable to those who might use our need, as well as, if our need includes a naked wish for love, giving us the kind of desperate demeanor that works to drive others away–achieving exactly the opposite of what we desire. This only lasts a day or so, but is potent while it’s around–be aware.

5 January 2011: Then v. Now

Noonish Pacific the Moon quincunxes the South Node, adding what I’d describe as an ‘intentional tone’ to the intellectual preoccupation with all things Aquarian. This is an emotional checkpoint–after all, the Nodes are ‘points of extremity’ for the Moon itself–the result may be a startling and sudden awareness of emotional changes, a ‘then v. now’ moment that shows you just how far you’ve come, and what in your emotional picture has changed. The atmosphere is free-wheelin’ on this energy through the rest of the day; to see more of what’s happening, scroll down to the view of the week, below, or get your password with purchase of the Fall issue of ECLIPSE, links at right, second category from the top.

4 January 2011: Receiving the Message

Tags

'The Swan Messenger' Raja Ravi Varma pre-1906 {{PD-Art}} Wikimedia Commons

Today Mercury is quincunx Sedna, making communication complicated: we speak but don’t have any idea what we’re really saying! It’s an aspect that results in Soul-baring exchanges or exclamations with the speaker having no idea of what’s been revealed–and for the most part, the listener may fail to hear what’s really conveyed, as well. We can glean a great deal of information, and learn how others truly feel, if we can take a mental step back, gain a little distance, and actually hear the messages given. These may be connected to the meaning of the eclipse, if one received contact from the eclipse to the natal personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, or Mars). In any case, be aware that revelation works in both directions; we speak, and those open to hearing what we truly mean and want will gain understanding. Hyper-consciousness might be the goal here, and yet it’s almost impossible to obtain when the mental faculties are obscured; settle instead for honesty, embrace it as far superior to anything we can consciously ‘construct,’ and accept that the control we typically think we exercise (but we’re fooling ourselves in that regard, too) just won’t be available.

Here’s the ultimate unknowing communication of who one really is: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-12111496

4 January 2011 Partial Solar Eclipse

Tags

,

from Verne's 'Around the Moon' illus. by Bayard and de Neuville

The Partial Solar Eclipse occurs at 1:02 AM Pacific Standard Time on the 4th at 13 Capricorn 38. The Sabian Symbol is ‘An Ancient Bas-Relief Carved in Granite Remains a Witness to a Long-Forgotten Culture’ http://www.cafeastrology.com/sabiansymbols_degreemeanings.html  A New Moon is an inception point, a beginning, a seed, a birth–but this symbol is of something quite old, stately, a symbol of memory–very appropriate for Capricorn.

So what do we get when we bring the ancient and a seed point together in an eclipse? We get a power-seed, a point of origin that can knock our socks off since it has the authority of ancient knowledge, of things perhaps forgotten by the Collective consciously but still accessible through these moments that connect past and present via a corridor of memory energy that brings ‘then’ into contact with ‘now.’

The form it takes is through Art or expressive endeavors (the Bas-Relief) and tells a story or gives a message (the point of a Bas-Relief). This is, quite literally, carved in granite–meaning it is not subject to change–so we are looking at a message of timelessness and immutability. The most important part of the symbol, though, may be the way the Bas-Relief refers to a culture long passed into dust; this tells us that the message is something quite vital that may have been ‘lost’ before now, before the energy of this seed moment burst forth, giving us this cultural pearl.

3 January 2011: Notes on the Coming Week

Tags

The week may feel a lot like this illustration from Aesop's Fable, 'The North Wind and The Sun' from the Guttenberg Project via Wikimedia Commons

Sun/ Earth axis forms a T-square with h.Zeus and Saturn over the coming five days or so (through the 8th) and this brings a continual state of tension that takes the very general form of a ‘Big Life Question’: Am I serving my Purpose adequately? We will be, consciously or not so, vetting and weighing our effectiveness in this regard at a Soul level–part of this will involve a restlessness with our surroundings, if they’re not conducive to the Purpose we have chosen. This may act as a backdrop stress behind more pressing and immediate matters, but the thread of pondering life direction and the appropriateness of what we’ve surrounded ourselves with will be there.
We see a loose Fist of God created right now (a loose Fist–is that one that’s not too serious, even lacksadaisical, about the beating administered?) The apex is Neptune/ Chiron, with a conflict base (the square) made of Earth on the one hand, and h.Zeus/ Saturn on the other. This suggests material and reality-based situations and circumstances tuned to the ambitions and desire nature, specifically where the material world conflicts with the requirements of fulfilling those ambitions and desires. Resolution is offered through imagination, ideals, altruistic or communal or spiritual energies employed through the use of the most unique individual skills. This Fist lasts for a few days, and offers a relatively prolonged period where we can focus on making what we truly want happen in our world by using our most elevated energies–a nice combination of the seen and unseen that can have major effects in our material surroundings, and that calls on us to use skills we can really be proud of.
Of course, there’s a Solar Eclipse in the early hours of the 4th PST–will post a small bit on that later–ECLIPSE Readers, see the full report on your Protected Pages, along with the daily detailed forecast–forgotten your password? It’s listed in the Table of Contents of the magazine–Thanks!
In case you don’t recall that particular fable, it was a contest between the Sun and the Wind to see who could make the traveler remove/ keep on his cloak–may be a lot like the aforementioned Fist. And remember, it’s Dark of the Moon–relax!

2 January 2011: The Danger of False Premises, and A Little ‘Quiet Time’

Sometimes group or tribal priorities make it very hard to empower ourselves Koch 1806 {{PD-Art}}

Around 4 PM PST of the 2nd the Moon squares Jupiter and sextiles Neptune, while effectively kicking off a T-square involving Jupiter/ Uranus opposite Juno. This suggests a prolonged period (through to the Moon’s Void) of tension that we try to resolve using the emotions and/ or intuition. The opposing forces will likely be the group v. our own personal empowerment needs (and this is probably a struggle that has been going on in some form for some time), and we will meet a situation that seems to require we find a solution to the stand-off. Maybe we can; Sag Moon puts the emotional emphasis on knowing–and what we know, intuitively or through the feeling senses, could be the key to resolving the issue. The chance that we may be mislead (or mislead ourselves) is there (Neptune)–but this comes at the beginning of the issue–if we can recognize false premises upon which we may be attempting to build our answers, then we can eliminate them and move forward confidently with the intuition in play.

Void begins at 9:21 PM, with the Moon entering Capricorn (oh here we go again!) at 11:38 PM PST. Dark of the Moon began about 1 AM of the 1st, ushering in a little ‘quiet time’–take these days as a chance to re-group and rest.

Through the first week of the month, the Sun moves toward square with Saturn–and we feel it, especially during the Dark of the Moon as the Moon approaches conjunction (and eclipse) with the Sun. This initial week may feel very heavy, with a lot of assessment of progress and accomplishment, and a lot of down feelings if we aren’t reaching amazing pinnacles. Don’t be so hard on yourself that you discount what’s of most importance: love, laughter, and the kind sustenance offered by the Universe.
