19-20 July 2019 A Quiet Interlude

‘Quiet’ By Lizza Littlewort, CC BY-SA 4.0 https://lizzalittlewort.co.za Thank you, Lizza!

Friday and Saturday look like relatively quiet days, barring any individual internal strife generated by contacts to the natal chart. Mercury trips back into Cancer and sextiles the asteroid Hygeia, perhaps indicating that recent experiences have caused review of what we care about, how we feel, and so prompted taking a healthier attitude toward the subject (or at least, we’re thinking about it in a slightly different way, more objective and so in a sense healthier). The mind might also be becalmed right now as we head toward the Inferior Conjunction, due on the 21st. So close to the Sun, the symbol of the mind is overwhelmed; attention floods toward experience, toward what’s right before us, with little left for analytical thinking. It’s a day To Be, To Feel, with no need at present to dissect events.

Saturday sees Jupiter quincunx Vesta, suggesting that either beliefs (your own or those presented), the social sphere, or something published or broadcast, modifies your highest values or commitments. This is good, as what comes at us may provide ‘the facts’–and once again, as with the above aspects, we find that input offers better mental balance, and so better understanding. The glare of the Sun right now may blot out other influences, at least to the conscious awareness, but it helps connect us to instinct and hidden knowledge, what we ‘know but don’t know’. The feeling senses prove, once more, to be a conduit of information and guidance (Sun sxt Sedna).

For those born with the Sun at 27 Cancer. Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–together these offer a more complete picture of your year ahead). A mental crisis can come in many forms, dear Cancer, and you’re going to face one–but it’s nothing to worry about. This is specifically for determining once and for all how you really feel–and you have as much as 12 months, through to your next birthday, to make those emotional decisions. You have time: to review the past, to sift through conflicting inclinations and impulses, to assess what really matters. Making values live through the reality picture is both possible and desirable, and should come fairly easily, supported by inspired relationships and spending, and a creative approach that really pays off. Good luck!

18 July 2019 Litany

Today’s aspects (Pallas square the Nodal axis, Venus trine Neptune and square Zeus, and Mercury trine Ceres and sesquiquadrate Jupiter) for me bring to mind the song ‘Waters of March’ by Antônio Carlos Jobim. Named for the point in the year that Brazil sees the end of summer, Jobim wrote both the Portuguese and English lyrics. This may represent the energies available after the recent eclipse set; what’s ended, and what’s begun, intertwined and in some way, in need of personal expression. Essentially the song presents a litany of day to day life, and its inexorable progression toward death, and through this list asks, how will you spend your time? If your life were a series of images, what would that list look like? Now that you’re all cheered up, ready for the way your ideas of what’s wise challenge your current life direction, ready to let flow your tremendous creative urge, ready to solve problems presented by your ambitions, and now that you’re ‘thinking like a winner’ (in part by being clear on what you don’t accept on the social scene), you may want to take a little listen. I couldn’t find a read-out of this exact version, but like it better than any of the other English versions I found.

For those born with the Sun at 26 Cancer. Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–together these offer a more complete picture of your year ahead). Dear Cancer, this coming solar year, through to your next birthday, may at least in part be spent reforming your thinking about yourself. You’re tuned in to your instincts right now, accepting that intangible way of knowing and intuiting that you’ve previously (in real terms of trusting that info) resisted or even rejected–and this acceptance paves the way for a whole new You, for bringing forward the best possible version of who you are. Will you be brave enough to make the changes, to move closer to your ideal? Yes, I think you will, because you’re also now in possession of a massive creative energy that is attuned to bring reward–and who doesn’t like that? Good luck!

17 July 2019 Riddle Me This

Here are our guidelines, and they will bedevil us: what’s beautiful, attractive, of worth, supports our health and the overall balance of our lives, but in some way to indulge in it right now is unwise, impractical, or may require skills we don’t have. It’s like a riddle with no right answer, as for each individual it will fit in some very particular way their life scenario at present. We may be able to get more specific by looking at what Venus rules in the natal chart, and/ or what subjects are covered by the House it’s currently transiting. These energies or subjects should have at least some involvement in the puzzle we face today. Another hint: having just undergone a Lunar eclipse, the feeling experience of that event may have a great deal to do with, may even have directly precipitated, the dynamic of beautiful/ healthy vs. unwise.

For those born with the Sun at 25 Cancer. Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–together these offer a more complete picture of your year ahead). Dear Cancer, this solar year, through to your next birthday, your instincts involving material matters will be spot on–it’s the emotional ones that may be unclear to you. And that’s okay–you don’t need to make any pronouncements about your feelings right now, no matter how it seems–it’s much more important for you to get the material landscape of your life into good working order, so that it supports your needs and your wants. It’s vitally important that you trust those instincts in all areas–your health may depend on it–and acknowledging that your mind temporarily isn’t as sharp or receptive as it needs to be will only work in your favor, steering your efforts in their most effective direction. Good luck!

16 July 2019 Lunar Eclipse in a Venus Sky

The Milky Way arches across this 360-degree panorama of the night sky above the Paranal Observatory, home of ESO’s Very Large Telescope. The Moon is just rising and the zodiacal light shines above it, while the Milky Way stretches across the sky opposite the observatory. To the right in the image and below the arc of the Milky Way, two of our galactic neighbours, the Small and Large Magellanic Clouds, can be seen. The open telescope domes of the world’s most advanced ground-based astronomical observatory are all visible in the image: the four smaller 1.8-metre Aŭiliary Telescopes that can be used together in the interferometric mode, and the four giant 8.2-metre Unit Telescopes. The image was made from 37 individual frames with a total exposure time of about 30 minutes, taken in the early morning hours. ESO/H.H. Heyer CC BY 4.0

The Partial Lunar Eclipse is at 2:38 PM PDT of the 16th at 24 Capricorn 04, and perfects against a Venus-heavy sky, with Venus sesquiquadrate Ceres, quincunx Jupiter, and opposed Saturn. Since Venus is just inside combustion range of the Sun, we would expect its contacts to be less prominent–but in this case, we may see them as backdrop to emotion, passage-of-time, or feeling-based (Lunar) eclipse events, subtle ones that may either operate below consciousness or that we may be aware of but unable to give time or attention to.

Relationships and/ or assets, then, may be the underpinnings for eclipse impact, and may involve a situation where we are wrestling with who holds power in a relationship, or who holds spending power within a relationship, or in a situation where we can’t reconcile Love’s presence with the need to take responsibility and to set boundaries. The social sphere or some fact we’ve learned is calling for us to adjust our interactions or our finances, and we may have a hard time wrapping our heads around that (eclipse novile Jupiter). And then there’s the way we may be tempted to ignore the rules, boundaries, obstacles, or reality itself, when it comes to relationships or finances. All this makes for a disconcerting undercurrent–and then we have the Lunar event itself.

Falling in Capricorn, a Lunar eclipse suggests an ending to some sort of restriction, sense of discipline, support structure, or material reality, and it’s likely an ending where we are aware of its finality, even in some cases of the way we can do nothing about it. Restraints may reach a peak or disappear entirely, depending on your personal situation, but in either case the ending is clearly defined and makes an emotional impact.

The most startling thing may be the Lunar eclipse conjunction to Pluto, which implies the eclipse is a powerful moment, shot through with meaning in the form of Truth, and may incite transformation or obliteration at a core level. That’s a scary thought, but consider: there have been any number of life-changing moments you’ve already gone through, and nine times out of ten you probably didn’t know that was a transformational moment, or a course-changing event, until later, maybe much later.

Pause on this: that a Lunar event, one focused on feeling, and on bringing that feeling into a tangible or material sphere (Moon conjoined Earth in Capricorn) will occur, and it’s meant to bring completion to some matter related to the House where it falls or the matters this House represents in the natal chart, or possibly those represented by a natal body or point that is affected. Impact is inevitable, but the sense of catastrophe or loss is not. ‘Getting right’ with our own destructive impulses or urges toward power is the way to sail through this and even make the most of it.

The widest allowable aspect the event makes is a trine to Sedna (just under 4 degrees), which implies we know the meaning and impact of the eclipse at an instinctual level. It also implies information about the event is most accessible through the natural instincts, through being open to ‘what we know but don’t know’, which requires we trust ourselves–often easier said than done.

But there’s also a semi-square to the Black Moon Lilith point, suggesting that what stirs our instincts may be the rough edges around things we’re ignoring or denying, or that enrage. And then there is the novile to Jupiter, promising that whatever occurs at the eclipse, it will open up our world, will offer new or clearly perceived facts, will show those beliefs that are ‘right’, offer a religious experience, and/ or allow us to face emotionally-charged real-world events philosophically, easily seeing a way to process and accept what occurs.

The Sabian for the Lunar eclipse is, ‘A Store Filled With Precious Oriental Rugs’. These, even when the patterns are the same, are unique, one-of-a-kind creations–just like individuals. The eclipse, in pointing up our beauty as creations, also shows us the loneliness inherent to our form. Being one-of-a-kind carries with it the knowledge that we are separate, and the symbol also suggests that we are filled with things of worth (the store) and all we have to do to live that purpose is to be.

For a Lunar eclipse we also look at the Sabian for the Sun, since she is the light-giver that makes the whole show possible. The Sun’s is in Cancer: ‘A Willful Man Is Overshadowed By A Descent Of Superior Power’. This suggests that what casts the eclipse shadow in the first place is an instance of noticing our actual power in the larger scheme of things, and this is driven home by awareness of those who hold power superior to our own, and is so despite our very Arian inclination to Willfulness–which seems to point to the only item in Aries right now, Chiron. Is this a hint that it’s our own hurt at not having our way that re-aligns us with our effective place in the Universe, with a proportional understanding of each of us as an individual? Perhaps, though when we hark back to the Lunar eclipse Sabian, we might conclude that we are works of Art, and that we are unable to adequately express as long as we are wrapped up in our own heads, our own want, our own Willfulness.

Scroll down for the forecast and birthday look ahead for the 15th. Thank you, and Happy Eclipse!

For those born with the Sun at 24 Cancer. Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–together these offer a more complete picture of your year ahead). Dear Cancer, the emotional impact of this year, especially what happened just a smidge before your birthday/ Solar Return, can’t be understated–and yet, know that you must deal with ‘the facts’ honestly in order to move forward and embrace the Truth, and through it the Power, that is slated to be yours. If you don’t already have a form that this power can take and express through, you may want to spend your birthday considering what you ‘know but don’t know’, as well as facing what you’d rather ignore, and so finding out exactly what you should be doing, as you take your place in the vanguard of your social sphere, peer group, or profession. Good luck!

15 July 2019 The Brakes–Or The Breaks?

The world may seem to be divided between the smart and the powerful (and you know what kind of scenarios that implies, usually stupid moves on one side and impotent carping on the other), but the reality is more like this: the truly smart will realize it’s not the time to exercise power, but it is the time to solidify it, to stealthily position things so that they become, in some essential way, immovable. Note: the loudest are also the weakest, putting up a wall under your own control against what you don’t want is as effective at this time as actually reaching for what you do want, and that the fewer things about ourselves we’re trying to hide, the less friction we’ll find between ourselves and the material world. So, putting on the brakes creates the breaks, in ways we hadn’t thought of before, as the method is so oblique–and yet so effective.

For those born with the Sun at 23 Cancer. Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–together these offer a more complete picture of your year ahead). You may feel, dear Cancer, as if you’re an open book–but reactions to you and your efforts this solar year, through to your next birthday, may reflect the way others feel either that you have something to hide, or that you are ignoring or denying something vital to the health of the relationship they have with you. It’s important to get this sorted out, but it’s likely to be difficult, so strongly will you give the impression of both being in charge and of seeming independent, in the sense of not needing others. Letting those to whom you’re devoted know how you feel may be a good first step; reassessing how, when, and with whom you communicate is another. Positives this year for you include smart moves socially and the ability to bring values to life within relationships–both will serve you well. Good luck!

14 July 2019 Darker Things

‘The Dark Mountains’ By Photographer James Craig Annan 1904 {{PD}}

Our attention today may go directly to those things we see as ‘most dark’: destructive things, ones we’ve tried to ignore or deny the existence of, things forgotten but lingering at the edge of consciousness, things we fear, extremes, and those things that haunt us vividly in the middle of the night. Consciousness drags them into the light and dares us to stand up to them, and it feels like we’re alone, the only adult, or authority, or force, in the room. How to handle it? Only accept visions and expressions of power that vibe with your idea of who you are at a Soul level; remember values and measure all against them; and rely on trusted relationships, ones to which you are firmly dedicated. That should turn darker things into chances for Self-knowledge, and occasions to learn a little something about life, as well.

For those born with the Sun at 22 Cancer. Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–together these offer a more complete picture of your year ahead). Dear Cancer, I want to be the first to assure you that scary sh*t from last year is all behind you–but can anyone ever be sure? No, but it does look like at the very least it’s in abeyance, allowing you time to dedicate yourself to shaping exactly the future you hope for. Will this period of undistracted momentum last forever? Of course not, but it will last long enough that, if well played, you will be in a very different, and much more emotionally secure, place than you were last time things went south–and that will make all the difference. Too, you may notice a kind of contest between your emotional perceptions and your instinctual ones. You would do well to parse these influences carefully; I lean toward saying that your instincts are the ones to be followed and trusted. Good luck!

13 July 2019 One Modest Perfection

We have one modest perfection today, as Venus semi-squares Sedna. I’m imagining it as a gentle nudge, a sweet something that causes just the slightest internal discord as instincts and what we ‘know but don’t know’ stirs. The question is, is that a course correction, a warning, or an invitation into a new experiential world (Sedna in Taurus)? Your response will likely fall along the lines of what you care about, or what you are responsible to care for (Venus in Cancer); with any luck you glean new insights, or new emotional depth, in relationships or investments (especially of time, energy, caring).

For those born with the Sun at 21 Cancer. Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–together these offer a more complete picture of your year ahead). What an exciting time you may have this solar year, through to your next birthday, Cancer! You know, of course, that excitement comes in many forms, from positively transformative and transporting to the whole thing burning down to ashes. It’s up to you to create the changes you want to see in your support systems, to the rules you follow, to what may be holding you back or holding you up, and you’re required to make these choices, because if you don’t, the world is going to make them for you–and that may not always be desirable. Taking the initiative, and so shaping the direction energies take, is key. Use that flow to go after what you want–or to at least set up circumstances so that they enhance your chances at ambition fulfillment in future. Good luck!

Today’s word image is: a dream, where a man sees himself choking another person with a car’s fan belt. Are your enthusiasms (what you’re a ‘fan’ of) curtailing the freedom or energy or enjoyment of someone else? Or is someone else keeping you from ‘breathing free’ with their incursions on your time, energy, or attention?

All you need to know today is this: instincts are healthy and right-on; thinking is confused, obscured by illusion or misunderstanding, or too influenced by our wishes to be accurate. Go with the inner voice, the quiet one that saves you from yourself and prompts you to do the ‘right’ thing.

For those born with the Sun at 20 Cancer. Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–together these offer a more complete picture of your year ahead). Dear Cancer, your Solar Return brings a period, lasting through to your next birthday, that can best be described as an Earthquake. Now consider: earthquakes can be long and frightening as the ground rolls and heaves beneath you, or they can be abrupt as the two plates whack together, or they can be imperceptibly slow, with change coming inch by inch. This change may be obvious, or may be unnoticeable until much later, but in any case offers you a re-making, as well as a new emotional take on your personal authority and how to exercise it, with a consequent opening up of your belief system, your reach, and your world. Good luck!

11 July 2019 A Surfeit of Wisdom

‘The Parable of Wise and Foolish Virgins (unfinished)’ By Peter von Cornelius c1815 {{PD}}

Could we really have too much wisdom–is that even possible?–or is it that an abundance of practicality surfaces, making for effective decisions even as it may cut us off from creative influences? Balance may be the key today, as it seems duality of choice is ours. Actions and choices may hurt or heal in a big way, simultaneous with either a denial of or pressure from group demands or a denial of our own originality and uniqueness. The central issue, it seems, the one that’s distorting our understanding and so our ability to interpret the energies around us, is a personal conflict we may be experiencing around our ambitions and heart’s desires. What do we want, especially in matters of aesthetics, cooperation, love? (Zeus in Libra) Answer that, and everything else, what we want to change, what we want to secure, falls into place.

Change is a comin’, dear Cancer–you can sense it ’round the next bend, can’t you? Really, you should know that the anticipation you feel will cause more upheaval than the actual endings and beginnings, when they come. Take advantage of your current internal emotional harmony and get yourself ready, chiefly by re-thinking the role you want to play and the image you want to have, and be very conscious of what you envision this solar year, through to your next birthday, as you have an unusually compelling ability to create it or draw it to you–so make your ideals your dreams. Good luck!

By Anders Zorn 1889 {{PD}}

For real: today the more we honor our unique individuality, act on our Soul’s mission, respect ourselves and our inner wisdom, concentrate on using our creative energies in positive and productive ways that truly represent who we are, and avoid power struggles or arguments with those in charge (or those who just think they’re in charge!) the more this day can show us what inventive, clever, imaginative people we are. It’s a day for aiming for the ideal in all we do, a day to accept the gifts of spontaneity and to appreciate the ingenuity of the human Soul, and if you approach all you do in this manner, you’re sure to reach day’s end much more fulfilled than you started it (and more pleased with yourself–go ahead, you deserve to be) .

Check your natal chart for the correct Sun degree (you may want to read both the degree number and the one that follows, if you have minutes on your Sun position–together these offer a more complete picture of your year ahead). Dear Cancer, where you’re headed, in the largest sense, occupies your thoughts this year, and for good reason: you are shaping the future with big, bold strokes, and will be bringing about the kind of change you’ll look back on later as turning points, as life-defining. Positives involve your ability to take what you’ve learned in the past and use it well; negatives include a disconnect between thought and action. Reconcile these last two, and you could have your best year yet. Good luck!
