We’re trying to go forward and we keep stumbling; we’re in a dark room and are refusing to turn on the light. Why are we being so contrary? At present we’re confusing what we dedicate our energy to and our wounds; we think what we honor is the source of our hurt–and that may or may not be accurate. We are, reasonably or not, expecting to wrest reward from the current scenario–and that could come to us, or not, if our expectations are misplaced. And worst of all, we are just being pig-headed, wanting to ignore what we know to be wise in favor of exercising our Will.

If we’re willing to at least make our way to a window and pull back a curtain, we’ll be able to see the outlines of things, the shape of what surrounds us–and that’s not just smart, but empowering, enhancing our position, as others may continue to feel around in the dark and get nowhere. We should also consider that certain things that are currently being treated as, ‘Out of sight, out of mind’ should be brought out into the open, exposed, dealt with, judged, because it’s only when we ignore them that they can affect us without our knowing.

Today we absolutely, without a doubt, feel we know where we’re going–but we may be completely deluded about how empowered we truly are. Or maybe it’s that we are both on track and mustering massive amounts of creative and generative energy in order to move forward. Or is it that we think we’re rejecting exercising our own authority overtly, possibly because we’re under some illusion about what is really ours to do, to change, to affect? It appears there’ll be a lot of push back and challenges, the gauntlet thrown by anyone concerned about the power situation and the distribution of privilege and reward. Those merely trying to stake out their territory could be confronted by those who think it’s their prerogative to dictate circumstances, and many will choose fight over flight, as it may seem a showdown is unavoidable. Add to that it may be impossible to communicate without infusing our words with assertive energy, and it could be a rough day. Part of the purpose behind all the turmoil might be this: destructive or angry acts, or those meant to seriously transform a situation, may uncover what really needs to be addressed, and a do over for past actions or circumstances that we’re not happy with are a distinct possibility. Take advantage of the way we’re able to ‘see behind the curtain’, as with only a little effort we see the reality behind the material world. Too, there’s a lot of potent creative energy around; make sure you channel it into something positive, as ignoring the creative surge may draw to you deceptions or illusions you may mistake for that peek behind the curtain, when you’re really just staring at the draperies.

That title doesn’t quite capture it: what was still is, but only if we are holding onto the past, specifically out of the mistaken notion that it holds some vital information yet to be discovered. It’s true that we may have things to learn from the already-happened, but the way to uncover them isn’t to gaze backward unendingly, but to receive enlightenment as we attend to our day, as we move forward, and as we live and breathe. It’s that simple, really; we don’t even need to try–what we need to learn or see will present itself to us–the real challenge is to recognize that information when it arrives.

Today we may be quite caught up (especially mentally) in power situations of the past, focused on the ways in which our commitments and values have been destructive, and we may be just plain angry about our wounds–and those are all things we should express or consider, just as long as we realize those are thoughts about situations and events that have already transpired–and then turn our efforts toward making a real-world impact by fulfilling our ambitions and desires.

You might wonder: Isn’t ambition or desire fulfillment selfish? No, not when it’s about bringing our abilities, gifts, and healing presence to the world–then it’s the most generous thing we can do.

Though our actions and choices are spontaneous, even impulsive, it’s what we think that makes or breaks the day. We may have an anti-reality streak going, refusing to acknowledge anything we’ve been ignoring or denying, refusing to see ‘Stop’ signs, obstacles, and the hard edges on things, and the past only irritates–and yet, we are so captured by idealism, by the power in the receptive or seductive, and by the power of commitment and the sacred, that we forge ahead–and the good thing is that it’s this idealism, this sort of faith, that shapes the forms our impulses and actions take, and so diverts us from harm or serious misstep.
