astrology, Good Day To . . ., The Astro Essence

‘The Sleeping Beauty’ By John Collier 1921 {{PD}}

The 24th is a Good Day To . . . look closely at two major aspects that perfect today: Venus conjoins Jupiter late in Sagittarius, and Mars in Scorpio opposes Uranus in Taurus. With the former, we see abundant reward or massive disappointment due to exaggeration of expectations, centered on potentials for social advancement, travel (with emphasis on ‘new horizons’), and knowledge acquisition. Relationship dynamics may be out-sized and imply things are better, or worse, than they actually are, and we may be inclined to over-pay, in one form or another, for what we receive. The belief in Love may ground us, or move us to action, and may ‘come to the rescue’, especially in circumstances where we feel alienated or suffer too much emphasis on philosophy or fulfillment of an agenda in relationships or in creating Art in any form. We get ‘a lot’, somehow, and must deal with it, with the meeting relating directly to the matters of the House in the natal chart where it occurs.

The opposition offers an element of surprise, either at your own choices or actions or those of others. The spontaneity is driven by material/ sensory matters or issues of comfort, security, or need, but the moves spring from a dark place, or one where motives are hidden even from ourselves, and what’s behind those choices and actions may remain a mystery, no matter how hard we look. Circumstances to these events may have roots in or bring about the situation of abundance (and remember, this is just ‘a lot’, so may not be especially desirable!) or may muster conflict from the situation of ‘too much’. Beauty meets ‘the facts’ or a sense of optimism, perhaps with actions exposing the dark and surprising underbelly of things–or maybe it’s a search for Truth that generates chaos, a Higher Understanding, or a revelation that brings an opportunity for prosperity, Love, or profit. There are a million possible permutations–what’s important is our awareness that these factors are related in a way where each will affect, and possibly bounce off of or alter, the others.

A Good Day To . . . is based on the aspects perfecting on each day, Pacific time.

astrology, Good Day To . . ., Moon in Sagittarius, New Moon, Sabian Symbols, The Lunar Essence

‘Noc gwiaździsta’ (Starry Night) By Józef Marian Chełmoński 1888 {{PD}}

The New Moon falls at 4 Sagittarius 02 at 7:04 AM PST of the 26th, with both bodies approaching conjunction to asteroid Pallas and trining Chiron. The Lunar event makes a pair of semi-sextiles which place the Moon at the rough midpoint of Mars in Scorpio and Ceres in Capricorn (and so makes Earth the apex of a Finger of God), and quincunxes Uranus. The New Moon also semi-squares the midpoint of transiting Saturn-Pluto, possibly noteworthy as a harbinger of the conjunction of these two in January that we’re all anticipating–and it semi-squares asteroid Zeus, placing the New Moon at the rough midpoint of Saturn-Pluto square Zeus. All these contacts, even the minor and modest ones, are worth exploring, as sometimes meaning is found in the subtlety of things, the interrelationships drawing associations we might otherwise have missed.

What are we looking at here? A smart, wise, or practical new beginning that requires we adjust to learning or experiencing the unexpected or unanticipated, the modern or the revelatory, and that we do so in order to preserve our autonomy, our place with or independent from the group, and/ or the personal power we’ve already established. It heals, or calls on our most unique skills, or both, and may hint at the emotional impact of upcoming changes to the reality picture, especially in terms of potential ambition or desire fulfillment, or its denial.

The New Moon brings an instance of learning something, or experiencing something, likely something we’ve been struggling to ignore or deny or not be consumed with rage by, with actions or choices stirred by events or by the emotional revelation that comes, and these address the scope of our current ability to wield power and affect our environment. We will develop a new attitude, a new philosophy, based on what occurs. Realization will be the big internal change, while we’ll also see material changes that signal the structure of (or structure behind) the ‘new’ power dynamic.

The Sabian for the New Moon is, ‘An Old Owl Sits Alone On The Branch Of A Large Tree’. We have Athena’s symbol, the owl, in the image and the namesake asteroid conjoined the New Moon event–who says there isn’t a pattern to all this? The mention of the fact that the owl is alone seems superfluous, as owls are generally solitary creatures, and big sturdy trees their domain. I’m thinking that in this instance the symbol simply alerts us to the wisdom that the Lunar event will contain; it may be so obvious, so much a normal-seeming part of the landscape, that we could miss the smart message it offers, should we be expecting something splashier or more jarring. Characterization of the owl as “old” only reinforces the sense that this is something already around, that we are used to, and so may overlook, and as well, also reinforces the notion that there will be something wise, that is, that comes of experience, for us to take away from the event.

‘Horses in a Meadow’ By Edgar Degas 1871 {{PD}}

The 23rd is a Good Day To . . . own your power, and use it to go after what you want. That may sound aggressive, especially to the more timid among us, but in reality we’re talking about being ourselves to the fullest, which includes that kind of energy that reaches out and impresses our essence, our wants, and our creations,  on the environment. Of course, careful consideration before you act pays off, no question. Overall, though, it’s a day when ambitions can be fulfilled and wounds healed, so go forward with confidence–be yourself.

astrology, Good Day To . . ., The Astro Essence

By Béla Spányi 1914 {{PD}}

The 22nd is a Good Day To . . . scan the horizon for your next destination. Whether that’s a literal trip or an inner journey, sketch out the possibilities and consider new, perhaps exotic, goals, foci, or places to visit. The Sun moving into Sagittarius will shine the light on ways to learn, explore, grow–today we relax and consider a revised ambition picture, while taking care not to erode or neglect the already-established practical, and the stable and wise.

The 21st is a Good Day To . . . do your best to align your Self-image with the actual things you revere and dedicate your life energy to. It’s time to rid ourselves of disparities between the reality we inhabit and how we see ourselves, from the inside out. Today this requires we set ambitions aside, and need to see as clearly as possible not just the reality picture, but the ways in which hurt and the past influence choices as well as our own idea of who we are. Skewed visions of our identity and potentials separate us from our own power, and from claiming those roles where we can be both most ourselves, and most effective. A vague prescription, I know, but the particulars will never fall into square without an unambiguous set of qualities and priorities in place–that’s what we define, today.

The 20th is a Good Day To . . . align our efforts with reality, and heal injuries to our sense of personal authority, via the dawning clarity offered as Mercury stations direct. We’ll see where we’ve been ‘off’, how we may have misjudged the facts or the social fabric, and we’ll see much more effective ways to express our creativity. It’s a load off the mind, today, that opens the way toward better understanding and a closer connection with the Truth of things.

Little known fact: Dragons are actually herbivores. Detail of a painting By Giovanni Battista Tiepolo c1768 {{PD}}

The 19th is a Good Day To . . . embrace bringing to consciousness what we ‘know but don’t know’. It does no good to play coy with ourselves; what’s more, it’s in those places we’ve ignored or denied that we find the worthwhile, the precious, the assets, the Love–but that’s only after we slay a figurative dragon or three. Hint for success, just for today: those boogey men are only in your head.

Really, there’s nothing scary in that dark corner. ‘Ukojenie’ By Piotr Stachiewicz c1884 {{PD}}

The 18th is a Good Day To . . . do everything you can to support all facets of your health, including to not be afraid to look in the dark corners (grim death will not be waiting there!) or to consider the less appealing aspects of living in a human body. It’s all for the good, and will mean no unpleasantness will sneak up on you at a later date.

Along with this, look for payoffs or ways to gain or make new relationships that serve the ambitions. Everyone loves a winner, or so they say, and you’ll have that shiny aura today, so why not take advantage of it? Work it, and reap the rewards.

And a guideline for everything: stick to the facts. Everything else will play on fears, or sucker punch you with unwarranted optimism.

astrology, Good Day To . . ., The Astro Essence

By Antoine-Louis Barye c1863 {{PD}}

The 17th is a Good Day To . . . relax and regroup, after a morning (Pacific time) that is at least tense, and that may involve confrontation that feels life-or-death, or as if we must take action. The brief Void afternoon Pacific time (12:15 PM through 1:57 PM PST) comes after the Cancer Moon’s square to Mars which sits at 29 degrees of Libra, suggesting the potential for drama in relationships, over aesthetics or Art, struggles in diplomacy, and general friction over who cares, why, and what they might do about that emotional investment, followed by the Void when everyone limps to their corner and tries to recover. What follows as the Moon enters Leo is Luna’s quincunx to Ceres in Capricorn, implying that right away we must deal with ‘the rules’ or our power role concerning our own agency, our territorial mandate, about those we are responsible for, or about our interaction with Nature, to include our relationship with the organism we occupy (our body). We should expect an emotional ‘sorting out’, and a certain ‘stepping forward’ in terms of taking a specific attitude toward our own actions and aggression, which we will likely cast in the light of what we need as individuals to feel whole, or to ‘shine’.

The 16th is a Good Day To . . . rebel–or is it? Really, why do we think that acting erratically, spontaneously, unreliably, zigging when others expect a zag, or pummeling others with ahead-of-their-time ideas will get us what we want? That’s not to say that our choice is bad, or that our acts or ideas aren’t worthy, but that it won’t lead us toward our goal–so then we must ask, Why do it? We may have been recently persuaded that our most unique characteristics, those things we’re committed to or honor, or that our own innate wisdom needs doctoring, modification, that there’s something wrong with these most unique parts of ourselves and our lives. We’re given this idea either by someone, or by the way the flow of assets or remuneration is going, right now. It may seem like we must alter our efforts, direction, or commitments, because they are wrong or inadequate, because the future we’re seeing in front of us appears to be a difficult one–but that would be an inaccurate picture. In fact, we must do the opposite: honor our most unique facets and talents, trust our inner wisdom, and honor what we find sacred, without criticism or fear that our standards, or we ourselves, are inadequate.
