Duval 'La Naissance de Venus' {{PD-Art}}

First I want to say that we might be seeing that “reckoning with Mother Nature” anticipated in the newsletter for today (the 4th) as it’s been announced that at this point radioactivity is pouring into the Pacific through a crack in one of the Japanese reactors. They are speaking of containing it with a system similar to that employed with an oil spill–astrology suggests this will not work, as the solidity of the Earth moves away from Saturn (containment) contact, just as the Sun moves toward Jupiter (expansion) contact. Not a happy day for mankind, I’m thinking.

By 6:30 PM the Taurus Moon is semi-sextile Uranus and square Vesta. This combination may bring emotional shocks at challenges to those things we revere, or to the home or sex life; it seems the feeling perceptions of life are bound to be stressed, one way or another, with some temptation to act (8:30 PM PDT semi-sextile to Mars). We should try and sort this out without taking a too-precipitous route, and of course, don’t make any major decisions at this point (Merc retro).

Just prior to 3 PM PDT of the 5th, the Lunar orb sextiles Venus in Pisces; we may be flooded with love, or love’s representative in a material form that is particularly Taurean: tactile, sensual, comforting, delicious! Perhaps this signals a solution to the radiation leak, likely of a different sort, after all.

4 AM PST the Taurus Moon conjuncts Sedna and trines Juno, and while we put the intuitions and possibly the emotions to work for our empowerment, we are guaranteed a blind spot about just what we feel–and that means we may be functioning in the emotional dark! An 11 AM square to Ceres helps us re-connect to that sense of Self that felt lost at the contact to Sedna–and by the time of the Moon’s square to Neptune (7:30 PM PST) we are ready for a little relaxation, escape, or mystery. Void begins 9:27 PM Pacific as the Moon pulls away from a sextile to Uranus; Moon enters Gemini at 9:31 PM.

A Word on Uranus Into Aries

I have not forgotten that Uranus has already been into Aries last summer (27 May-13 August); to me, dipping a toe in the water is nothing like plunging in to swim the English Channel (Is that just called ‘The Channel’ in the UK, like Chinese food is just ‘food’ in China?) So if you’re wondering why I’m making a big deal, my feeling is that this is the ‘real’ entry into Aries, as it’s not coming back out–and in my opinion, that makes a great deal of difference in what kind of effect we observe. (Not to mention that any major body to the Aries Point, from which it will continue on in Aries, rather than retreat, is more than worthy of note.) Sometimes when a planet moves into a sign only to move right back out, it’s a taste or preview of the major transit to come, and sometimes not; more often we find few connecting threads that can be traced to later events and recognized as having been previewed in the initial foray. (The idea of a preview is the standard belief, but hasn’t really been supported in my own observation–so go with what you like!)

We have some major energies coming forward with the upcoming Full Moon; see the entire analysis, and much more, with a subscription ‘Add to Cart’ at right–Thanks!

The Essence for 9 February 2011: Healing or Hurting with the Taurus Moon

Chiron, Moon in Taurus, My Daily Astrology Diary, The Astro Essence

Bull Franz Marc 1911 {{PD-Art}}

The Moon enters Taurus at 3:22 AM PST of the 9th; right away there’s a sextile to Chiron, setting either a hurtful or healing tone for the Taurus Moon–you must decide consciously–if you leave it to the unconscious, you could end up deeply wounded, mostly at your own hand, before this Moon leaves the sign. Chiron’s change to Pisces, plus the preference to either Cap or Aquarius energies for each individual, will inform the course of this Moon. (See ‘Been There, Done That’ for more on Chiron into Pisces).

By 11 PM PST the Moon squares Mercury and kicks off major emotional contact across that Aquarian gathering. It brings sensitivity, pulls the energy into the emotional picture, and stirs the intuition, which, if we are intellectually adept (and I don’t think you’d be one of my readers if you weren’t!) can be cross-processed through the mind for maximum illumination.

13 January 2011: Smooth Expression

Moon in Taurus, My Daily Astrology Diary

Castle Rock, Marblehead AT Bricher 1878 {{PD-Art}}

By 5:30 AM PST the Moon will be trine Pluto in Earth, grounding us firmly, even a little TOO firmly. It may lead to smooth expression of emotions, excellent intuition, or a ‘muddy’ feeling, as if you’re emotionally ‘bogged down.’ There’s no way to tell ahead of time, unless you have a very clear-cut relationship with the Earth element–then you can anticipate the result!

Juno is square Mercury, both at 29 degrees, suggesting tension in communications that are intended to convey our own power position. We speak, but our statement about where we stand is, inevitably, misunderstood. Early AM of the 13th Mercury moves into Cap, and despite its 00 position, it asserts itself as it blends with all those other Cap energies (NN, Pluto, Pallas, Sun, Mars)–speaking out is easy, and may communicate large amounts of subtext related to the other energies sharing Capricorn (and lingering echoes of the Juno empowerment identity).

Moon in Aries, Moon in Taurus, My Daily Astrology Diary

Chaos in the heart of Orion, courtesy NASA

1:30 AM PST sees Venus semi-sextile Pluto, with the Moon sesquiquadrate. What exactly are we experiencing here? There is a subterranean urge toward upheaval and change in relationship, finances, or values, and the emotions chime in with a great deal of discomfort. Are we uncomfortable because we want to make changes, because change is occurring with or without our participation, or because we know it needs to happen, but are resisting? Pluto in the mix can give us a ‘head in the sand’ attitude out of sheer fear or fatigue–it’s exhausting to transform, transform, transform! And yet, that’s the essence of life, and change we must.

The Moon squares the Sun/ Earth axis (also 1:30 AM-ish), giving us one of those stress moments that also offers insight–this reinforces the starkness of all that we may be dealing with. The effect can be harsh, exaggerating the importance or ‘down’ feeling of events and revelations, but don’t take the negative pitch of things too seriously–as we know, this too shall pass.

Both the above conditions last through early afternoon PST. Void begins at 6:43 PM PST, with the Moon entering Taurus at 7:37 PM Pacific.

The Taurus Moon may urge us to relax and zone out a bit, almost like a Pisces Moon but without the possible paranoia or losing touch with reality! No, I kid–and yet, we may indulge in whatever soothes us–and I think we might deserve it :) By 11:30 PM PST the Moon will be trine the North Node in Earth–and if we’re at peace with our emotional state it will be a very smooth feeling that includes a glimpse of the direction we’re headed–and some insight into where others are headed, particularly in a material sense, too.

17 December 2010: The Weekend Outlook

ECLIPSE magazine, Moon in Gemini, Moon in Taurus, My Weekend Astro Diary

GH Durrie 'A Christmas Party' {{PD-Art}}

The Grand Cross of Sun/ Pallas, Earth, Juno, Jupiter/ Uranus is the star of the show this weekend, bringing strong emphasis on a conflict dynamic that may seem at this point to have no way of resolution. What’s wise/ smart is clear; there’s conflict, though, between the needs of the individual within her or his role in the group and the personal role that will bring empowerment. It’s a stand-off, so don’t expect any real answer–the best we can hope for is to work a compromise that’s relatively comfortable and workable. Further, Venus is sesquiquadrate Earth at this point, dragging values and relationships into the mix through the material demands these engender. This is a tough jumble of influences, the tension from which many will blame on holiday pressures, when the real focus is on our own internal struggle for personal empowerment within our own scene.

Pallas takes over as body of latest degree and Merc retro is conjunct, and hooked to the Sun as they are by conjunction means that we have a prevailing influence of wisdom and guidance, if we will only see it (it will be prominent, right in front of us, but some will manage to overlook it completely, likely complaining loudly about a lack of same!) Communications will, for a time (through to the inferior conjunction of the 20th) hold all that we need to know–and yet accessing/ recognizing that is the trick!

16 December 2010: Material Consequences

Johannes Vermeer 'Lady and Maidservant holding a letter' c.1667 {{PD-Art}}

By 2:30 PM PST we see the first aspect of the Taurus Moon, a trine to the North Node/ Mercury conjunction, highlighting the heavy-duty contemplation we’ve been involved in (whether we’ve been aware of it or not). The material situation, and the consequences to the material if we continue to follow the present Path, have been the focus (again, whether you realize it or not). With Merc retro right now, we may feel very shaky about both our observations and our conclusions–and this alone should let us know that making decisions based purely on fears of material consequences would be a mistake–we just can’t know the consequences at this time. Use what you see and feel to let yourself know what is truly of concern for you, as this will reveal what’s often brushed aside or overshadowed by more conscious concerns.

The trine to Pluto hits at 6:30 PM Pacific, and I do mean hits! We have the opportunity to use this energy to literally transform a situation with which we’re faced–but keep in mind, it’s also easy to ‘go destructive,’ and throw the baby out with the bathwater. The energy has a material component–job seekers, this is a good point to take a step to change the current situation.

November Full Moon Forecast: Empowerment Through Partnership

20 Saturday Nov 2010

≈ 3 Comments

Tags

Full Moon, Moon in Taurus, My Daily Astrology Diary

November’s Full Moon occurs at 9:27 AM PST on the 21st at 29 Taurus 17. This is an anaretic degree, one that inherently carries a vibe of extreme stress. The Moon is, as always with a Full Moon, conjunct the Earth and opposed the Sun, and this month we see the suggestion that it is, in a psychic and spiritual sense, impossible for the emotions to contradict (oppose) the Soul identity–and yet, symbolically, they do.

This tension implies that any aspect in effect will be extraordinarily important, and when we use our strict 2 degree orb to determine what will be the message of the Full Moon, we find a quincunx of the Moon/ Earth to the just-direct Venus in Libra, who is so new in her movement that she is not yet even transiting at characteristic speed. Venus is at home, and ruler of the Moon at this point, setting up a dynamic that is highly intimate; the suggestion is that love and partnership, or our relationship to the Arts, is challenged to adjust to the emotional and material realities that surround us–and yet, with all ruled by the involved energy, it becomes extremely difficult to sort out clearly what that reality is–it is in danger of being vetted through a ‘love’ or ‘values’ lens that does not allow for objectivity.

We also find a Fist of God with the Moon/ Earth as apex, and a base of Cardinal square between Ceres and Saturn/ h. Zeus. This says that the Full Moon’s meaning manifests via a mechanism that is born of the conflict between elements of nature and/ or authority (Ceres) and the establishment/ tradition (Saturn) and/ or the desires and ambitions (h. Zeus) associated with ‘what is.’

See the rest of the Full Moon forecast (it’s so big it needed its own page!! and this title, I just realized, only makes sense when you read the whole forecast) including interps of the Sabians for Sun and Moon, at right under ‘Pages’; still need a password? 28 September 2010: Being Self-Interested

Juno, Moon in Gemini, Moon in Taurus, My Daily Astrology Diary

By 4 PM PDT on the 27th our Lunar hero forms a T-square with Juno opposed Neptune/ Chiron; the emotions or intuition try desperately to resolve this stand-off between illusion specifically fostered by hurt, or dreaming about using skills, and the need to control energy and expression in order to serve true empowerment needs. It’s a most insidious Self-sabotage, as we fixate on what we wish, what would be ideal, what could heal us, and miss what’s in front of us that will, by a slightly different route, give us exactly what we want–what may help is to know that what you’re envisioning as the fantasy way to fulfillment (courtesy of Neptune) is illusory. The real avenue to empowerment right now is through true, careful Self-regard, the kind that will build toward both goals and a more solid sense of identity (Leo placement), rather than trying to institute dream-schemes that spring from woundedness. Treating ourselves with respect, rather than indulging whims, is key. At the same time the Moon is opposing Vesta, perhaps making us temporarily reject our core values, making it that much tougher to treat well what really matters. It’s a mini-rebellion, eased along by the sextile to Jupiter/ Uranus about 6 PM PDT, making it a snap to exaggerate expression and individuality needs–anyone who kicks and screams at this point will be responding immaturely, and losing the chance to make the most of those positive energies that will support Soul expression so well. A quincunx to Ceres rounds out the influence–authority requires us to modify the emotional response for success. It all makes one big picture.

The Void begins at 8:04 PM PDT, suggesting that we relax for a while–too much work (or simply too much stress) makes Jack a dull boy, as they say. The Moon enters Gemini at 11:10 PM Pacific. The first aspect Gemmy Moon makes is a quincunx to Pluto, again asking us to make emotional adjustments in the face of Change, with a big ‘C.’  By now this has probably become mighty wearing; the antidote is, once more, Soul-rooted, mature, Self-interest, the kind that allows the world to change and us to be able to handle it because we know who we are.

9 AM on the 28th and the Moon trines the Sun, allowing an emo centered reality check on current life direction. We may feel like that’s the last thing we need right now, but it’s good prep for the upcoming Venus retro, and the soon-to-arrive New Moon (see ECLIPSE forecast section for details http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/) This is followed by a 1 PM-ish Moon trine to Saturn and a trine to the North Node, making our realizations all-too real–we get a hint at what the material situation might be in future-a useful perception to recall later.

A quincunx to Mars in the 4 PM hour PDT means we could be irritated at this point and quick to fight–once more, true Self-interest says we should channel this into what we need to get done, rather than standing on a (figurative) street corner, spoiling to punch someone. If we go for lovin’ not fightin’ we get the payoff around 8 PM with the Moon’s quincunx to Venus–as long as we remain flexible in terms of what form our payoff can take (we don’t turn away that million dollars because it arrives at our door in pennies, for instance!) we can receive some interesting interaction, messages (Gemini) or enjoy something radically sexy (Venus in Scorpio).

A trine to Zeus 10 PM-ish of the 28th says it may be easy to allow the desire Will or the ambitions to carry us away, especially in too much talk or gossip (Gemini Moon). Keeping a check on expression is the idea–we feel good, and it would be a shame to throw it away by going overboard.

This period requires the kind of enlightened Self-interest on the individual level that will keep our personal situation well attended to and that enables us to refuse the many fleeting distractions that surround us. And through it all, have a great one!

26 September 2010: Ain’t It Grand?

ECLIPSE magazine, Finger of God, Grand Cross, Grand Square, Juno, Moon in Taurus, My Daily Astrology Diary, My Weekend Astro Diary, the Magazine

There’s a wonderful Grand Square formed (and while we consider this as a square, Pluto is also in the mix), soon to also be a Cross, involving the Nodes, Saturn/Sun, and Earth.Why wonderful? I’m not quite sure; it’s got a charged-up electric energy, seated in the Sun in a Venus-ruled sign, Saturn in its exaltation, the Earth in dynamic, kick-ass Aries, and the Nodes in Cardinal (action) energies of caring and structure–it just sounds like a recipe for transformation of circumstances (Pluto) and materialization of what’s both expressive of our Soul intents (Sun), needed for the Soul’s expression materially (Earth), and designed to move us along in our destined direction (the Nodes). A major config that presents major opportunity–and today holds a specific positive time period for another significant configuration–see ECLIPSE for details–I abhor saying it over and over, but if you do come here often to follow the Lunar forecast picture, you really could use the forecast section of the magazine–’nuff said 🙂

The lovely Taurus Moon goes on to quincunx Zeus around 1 PM PDT, challenging the emotions to accomodate the ambitions–somehow they rub each other the wrong way. The Lunar picture moves toward the physical, toward the material, the artisanal, through the rest of the day and into evening Pacific time–then around 2 AM PDT of the 27th, the Moon trines Mercury in Earth. The messages are centered on material circumstances, even when they appear to be otherwise; it’s a situation of reverse-symbolism, where talk about priciples and values is really representative of the asset situation–very ‘Taurus as concerned with who has what.’

8 AM PDT on the 27th brings the Moon conjunct Sedna–uh-oh, all those material things we were just talking about are just not discernible–it’s almost like we’ve spent time sorting through who has what only to find that everybody’s stuff seems to have disappeared! It’s only a temporary vanishing act, which is meant to turn our attention elsewhere for awhile.

A quincunx to Vesta noonish PDT means we get our sense of values back not just intact but heightened–after this little interlude we know what really counts. By 2 PM the Moon is in place as the apex of a Finger of God with base of Vesta/ Ceres; this implies that the emotions and/ or intuition (or possibly the matters of the House where the transiting Moon falls in the natal chart) will serve as outlet for a negotiation over the most important values and life elements (home in all senses, and the most intimately connected relationships)–the goal is to find what’s ‘natural’–and once the balance is reached a rush of emotional perception, intuitive knowing, and/ or other revelation about how to proceed will occur.

Many thanks to all who’ve bought JUNO IN THE NATAL CHART–I’d love to hear your thoughts, positive or negative or anywhere in between, and so would those who are considering the book–please share! And for everyone else, see what’s in the book here http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com  For those still in need of detailed forecast information, get ECLIPSE http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/
