24 April Humility might be the watchword today; taking a modest tack that leaves ego, ambition, and desires on the cutting room floor is definitely the way to go. We may be very shy of getting hurt, protecting our wounds and looking for injury in every communication—and that’s just not very helpful. If we want to make any progress at all, we may need to put aside both a need for power and a demand to fulfill ambition, and instead nurture only efforts that support the highest values, and foster personal relationships that aren’t dependent on the group for legitimacy or support. Those personal connections, made for no other reason than that we care, will be the foundation for anything positive that comes forward at this time, along with choices that keep those things we honor in focus. (Juno contra-parallel Zeus, Mars contra-parallel Vesta, Venus contra-parallel Uranus and quincunx Vesta, Mercury semi-square Chiron)

3 AM PDT of the 24th the Pisces Moon sextiles Mercury; what we daydream about, actually dream about, imagine, fantasize, or yearn for carries a powerful message about something we desperately need, and how we’ve hidden that need from ourselves. Please listen to this.

The Grand Cross is in evidence—we’ll treat it as a part of the other energies in play, and in doing so perhaps draw it into a broader context. Actions or choices that trigger it all may originate in being contrary to our highest aims, to the demands of the home, or in reaction to the mate. We may seek ready empowerment in scenarios of the past (or that mirror it) and we may feel that blending into the crowd is actually the way to garner reward, preserve relationship, and stay safe—and we might be right, at least in the moment. Communications and our own thoughts both could feel like we’ve heard them before, and our reactions to them/ choices spurred by them may come at least in part from fear of being hurt in some past way we still feel vulnerable to. Erratic behavior, aggression, and destructive inclinations are all signs that we are allowing an out-of-control temperament to run the show—whether it’s you or someone else, take a step back and re-consider the direction you want to take. Rightly harnessed, this is a good time to change, guess who? Ourselves! We have the ability and energy to re-make our inner workings—we just need to take an intellectual stance that accesses compassion and common sense while staying true to values in order to do it successfully. (At the closest point to perfection, on the 23rd, Mars perfects the T with Uranus and Pluto—this is essentially the tightest the Grand Cross gets–with Jupiter the other arm, and Mars is also contra-parallel Vesta, Juno conjuncts the South Node, Venus is contra-parallel Uranus, Mercury moves into Taurus, is parallel the South Node and semi-square Chiron)

19 April There may be a kind of cognitive dissonance between our perceptions (especially the mentality with which we face things) and what we typically honor or consider sacred. Expediency may trump upholding values, at least at first glance, and we may find ourselves or others obscuring the facts out of a desire not to find out about or deal with anything unpleasant—and worse, even if we’re trying to make contact with the Truth, it may reside in our ‘blind spot’, and so be unfindable. The best course is a prudent one: respect your usual priorities, even if they don’t seem important right now, stick to the facts, speak with clarity and respect for all (especially if you don’t feel it!) and don’t allow yourself to get contentious with your ‘traditional’ adversaries, even if the complaint seems justified or harmless—you won’t gain any ground in the scuffle. (Neptune sesquiquadrate Vesta, Venus quincunx Mars, Mercury opposed Vesta, semi-square Neptune, and parallel Sedna, Sun moves into Taurus and Earth into Scorpio)

Today’s image is a man dressed as a magnificent wizard, his companion walking along in a t-shirt and jeans–but it’s the companion who holds all the magic. This one’s self-explanatory: don’t be fooled by outward appearances–don’t think you know just by looking, or by what someone tells you they are–they have to show it, too.

The conjunction of Venus to Neptune perfects on the 11th in Pisces; this can be an almost magical-feeling combination, with the desire nature and relationship/ financial/ asset emphases of Venus melting temporarily into the inspired Neptune in Pisces, fueling imagination, fantasy, dreams, creativity, delusion, and attention to the spiritual. What we get is an opportunity to imagine our ideal, and to apply that ideal in relationships, in earning situations, to living our values, and to creating. We have enormous potential for getting what we want, or for creating favorable circumstances or positioning in terms of what we want–but we can’t do that by simply imagining it. No matter how powerful our want or dedicated our visualization, we need to take action; this is a physical world where we are hoping to manifest our dream, and the unseen responds much more quickly to our desires when we take a material step to make things happen. It’s like making a statement to the Universe, “I’m willing to use my energy to get what I want”; we move, and so heaven and earth move, too.

In this case, the conjunction of Venus and Neptune occurs semi-square Juno in Aries, which also happens on the same day to conjunct the Sun. We’re being handed the recipe right here: taking initiative, a leadership role, or taking action (Aries, Fire) as we aim directly at what we want–use the status or position you already have (Juno) to make it happen (and we all have influence somewhere–don’t pretend you don’t!) The Sun shines a bright spotlight on what we need to do at a personal level; at this time there’s no excuse for not knowing how to proceed to fulfill that dream.

7 April contests of Will are on the agenda; we communicate aggressively, believing we’re just defending what’s ours, though we’re perceived as threatening the power and rights of others. Here’s the thing: being too focused on what’s sacred to us may make us too quick to see others who share our values or work toward a mutual cause as threatening, likely because they, too, are communicating aggressively and not knowing it. Today the air’s rife with a sense of what we might describe as worship, even holiness, but instead of prompting peace it’s making everyone assume that others are trying to take that feeling and what generates it away. A vow of silence and attempting to live our ideals in a real-world sense might help; so might listening without pre-formulating an answer as the other person speaks. Too, realizing that what we honor may not need defending can be a powerful mantra against overreaction. 6 April we can see our ambitions and wants right-over-there, but we may have a hard time making any progress toward them as we’ll keep having to adjust our thinking or our communications so that they consistently serve the direction we want to be headed—and even a willingness to do this won’t save us from authorities who just don’t want to see us move forward. It’s an awkward set of aspects, because it can make everyone feel just a touch paranoid, as it seems others are out to get us, whether they really are or not. Coping mechanisms include long walks on the beach, watching sunset with a drink in hand, or reading a good book, in short anything that both relaxes us and removes us from participation in what once, many moons ago, was referred to as the ‘Rat Race’. (Perfecting today: Sun sesquiquadrate Zeus, Mercury quincunx the North Node and contra-parallel Ceres)

5 April everything may be surface-sunny but have a contrary undercurrent that could make even the slightest hiccup contentious. Things will be fine as long as most of us can walk around getting our way, without someone snatching the rose-colored glasses from the bridge of our held-in-the-air nose. Yes, it might be that bad—and yes, the contentiousness will be shown by both sides of that equation. Communication suffers as everyone listens with the idea that they are in charge, and that it’s within their power to call the shots and ‘yay or nay’ what someone else is saying, deciding, or even thinking. Desires take on a materialistic or sensual note, which we have a good chance of fulfilling if we don’t get co-opted by those who are looking for a sparring partner. Everyone who manages not to be mixed up in this mess may get swept up in the atmosphere of creativity and dreams—and can get really useful information on how to make money, show love, or carve a future using only the imagination. 4 April we may make some fate-altering changes in the areas of relationships, Love, or Money; thoughts are sudden, erratic, unpredictable, and may tend to intellectualize matters when we might be better off concentrating on how we feel, or on judging things by our values, rather than trying to reason them out. If we can center ourselves in a combination of our own hard-won wisdom and awareness of those matters we feel are sacred and must be protected and revered, we’ll then be able to calm the mind and choose from a point of serenity (Merc in Pisces). Surroundings may wound, literally or figuratively (by what we learn or observe)—take extra care. (Venus semi-square Pluto and trine North Node, Finger of God apex Mercury with base of Pallas-Vesta, Mercury contra-parallel Uranus, Earth quincunx Chiron)

Today’s image is a group of people gathered around a karaoke machine, singing ‘Tiptoe Through the Tulips’ in perfect harmony.

Who doesn’t love the sweetness of that song, once you listen to it? Carry your ‘garden’ with you all day, in the form of this song and the sentiment it conveys.

There’s a current Cardinal Grand Square with Earth-Zeus, Pluto, Sun-Uranus, and Jupiter. This brings four contrasting inclinations into contact, and probably conflict: material ambitions, change or the existing power structure, a need to be seen for the uniqueness and originality of our Purpose, and the social sphere. Each of us may experience a different equation involving these elements, but the overall meaning is one of better defining ourselves, especially knowing who we are and what we want. That’s a very good thing to know, in anticipation of the Grand Cross and the eclipses. Make sure you’re honest with yourself and others about what you need and want; if you’re not, it will not only make it impossible for the Universe to deliver what you need, it will also mean what you’re hiding won’t remain a secret for long–and even if it’s modest or mild, information hidden comes off like we’re trying for deception–not the best for either finding your tribe or fulfilling your Soul’s intent.

1 April brings power struggles between partners, relationship and financial choices that are divorced from what’s smart, and yet, in all the hubbub, everyone keeps an eye on what truly matters to them—so if you see someone trash something at this point, you know they don’t care. Communication has desire and goals behind it, and is followed by action—so if they say they’re going to do it, they will. The social scene suffers when scrutinized—so either don’t look, or change with whom you hang out.
