‘Summer on the Dunes’ NF Schiottz-Jensen 1913 {{PD-Art}}

Noon Pacific the Capricorn Moon trines Sedna and conjuncts Venus. We can connect deeply with the Love concept, and so with those around us, through spirit and the intense connections we all share through life-death-life. This can make for a beautiful and co-operative environment and an exercise of genuine sympathies, though don’t expect much to be overt–this is the kind of connecting that’s wordless, in the ether, and may result more in an atmosphere than in action. 9 PM PST the Moon trines Mars; taking action, especially constructive action or moving to restrict or deny (Cappy Moon) is easy, but so is getting angry or impatient when impediments surface. Channel the energy consciously into things that take a lot of brio and push, for best results. Void begins at 9:33 PM PST; the Moon enters Aquarius at 10:54 PM PST.

Today’s image is an inflatable beach ball. It’s typical that we try to make every moment ‘count’–even our meditation has a purpose. How long has it been since you engaged in something with no point whatsoever? Consider purposely setting aside a time each day to just be, perhaps with an activity that serves nothing and no one, including yourself. You may be surprised at what finds its way into that gap, introduces itself, and changes your life.

Just a Little AstroEssence 3-4 December 2013: A New Place in Nature

Void begins at 7:46 PM PST of the 3rd; the Moon enters Capricorn at 10:50 PM PST December 3.

4 December brings our first true reactions to the surface linked to the New Moon; we see our ‘new’ place in Nature, we begin to assess the costs of change (some of which we judge to be decidedly unwise at this point), and we look to express our uniqueness without doing anything stupid. We are really just beginning to consider serious change (even if we feel like that’s all we’ve been doing!); we will begin assessing relationships in terms of the contact (or lack of it) they make with us at a Soul level. Our thoughts range far and wide, examining the possibilities for expansion into the future, and we get direct, material ‘hints’ as to what’s coming (watch for signs, symbolisms, and synchronicities!) It really is a day to think about ‘What Will Be’. (Uranus quincunx Pallas, Venus trine Sedna, sesquiquadrate Pallas, Sun sextile Ceres, Mercury enters Sagittarius)

Dark of the Moon begins evening of the 29th; with a lessened energy impetus behind our doings, we should typically pull back and allow time for meditation, contemplation, healing, and reassessing our goals—this time is no exception. Consider that the Moon will be moving mostly through Scorpio during the Dark period, enhancing those activities that take place in the dark (sex, movies, burglary! and so on) and make introversion and rest that much more natural a response to the coming days—it also adds an element of secrets accidentally revealed through the unconscious, vindictiveness, and power-seeking to activities undertaken—so ‘do’ and participate with special attention and attentiveness.

30 November we must strike a delicate balance: we can express ourselves to a ‘T’ at this time in ways that are smart, unique, and that enhance our journey forward; but communication is a quagmire of missed connections and garbled messages—thoughts are deep (and deeply confused) but can’t be adequately conveyed, and if we try to let others know what we think we are likely to inadvertently hurt when we’re just trying to communicate. Our expressions will have to be non-verbal, a real challenge to Air types, and will be better shown through actions, physical creations, and episodes of pure feeling—that we’ll have to wait and share our thoughts on later.

27 November we get a great deal of support for going after our goals today, especially if those are attempts to realize ideas; we’re clear-headed, focused, and can get the help we need—just one problem: we may have to skirt the various authorities and power players who pop up along the way. The one big misstep we can make is to be unaware of who holds the real power in any situation, and we also must be aware of the relationship among powerful entities. If we do know our power matrix, we can make tremendous progress toward our aims, and could achieve something long-desired and significant in our quest, and our communications and ideas could result in rewards/ earnings. ‘A Love Story’ E Phillips Fox 1903 {{PD-Art}}

A bit on the Uranus-Pluto square:

During the period Uranus and Pluto have been squaring up and moving apart, we’ve been given what amounts to ‘free samples’, tastes of our own uniqueness, from deep within, with the point of allowing us to experiment, try on, and choose what new characteristics we’ll be adding to our repertoire to carry us into the future. (This wasn’t the initial major effect of Uranus-Pluto, but instead an emerging influence that will be shaping our future—and so takes on much more significance as we near the end of the Cardinal contact period). Add to this slow-motion transformation the significant thinning of the veil we experienced early in the month, and what we have is a psychic culture where what we imagine, what we idealize, what we fear, and what we are and hope to be, are accessible and realizable in ways we haven’t previously enjoyed, or even imagined.

And for Sunday:

24 November we may find ourselves wrestling with some dark and perverse demons today, the kind that delude us about who we are and make us walk away from our own natural place and power. We do best if we keep our eye on core values or on developed skills; both can ground us in at least a partial sense of identity and competence, and avoiding confrontation with the group is a good idea, too. Though the landscape may be hard to make out, or a complete mirage, we just need to concentrate on our piece of things as represented by those values and skills. Be especially careful as what we see ‘out there’ may not at all be what we get, and decisions are best left until (at least a few days) later. (Ceres sesquiquadrate Sedna, Uranus opposed Ceres, Sun-Earth axis square Neptune)

And something to contemplate:

“The worst of doing one’s duty was that it apparently unfitted one for doing anything else.”

Was Arafat Poisoned?

'Femmes de Siloe, Palestine by Felix Bonfils Silver albumen print c1867-1870 {{PD}}

‘Femmes de Siloe, Palestine by Felix Bonfils Silver albumen print c1867-1870 {{PD}}

Here’s what I wrote back in July 2012 on the situation:

Was Yassar Arafat poisoned?

My regular readers are probably aware of how much I like to investigate a possible poisoning–these tend to involve classic compounds that have direct astrological correspondences, and so can make for a rewarding quest. In this case, various possessions of Arafat’s have been found to be radioactively contaminated, with our old friend polonium, and so some are lobbying to exhume Arafat and test for contamination. Should we know the truth? Yes, of course; will the indignation that arises, the pointed fingers, do anyone any good, by now? No, probably not, as it’s unlikely a culprit smaller than a government will be found, whether the contamination came from within his inner circle–a traitor, working for another faction–or from a faceless intruder in the name of massive political interests–and making such accusations about entire nations are fraught with peril, in so many ways. And yet, his people and his loved ones have the right to know from what he died–and so we do our part, looking at transits to the natal chart at death, to see if we can find any clues.

Arafat (27 August 1929  2 AM  Cairo Egypt–data is not certain) died on December 11, 2004 in the early morning hours in France. Pluto was moving through the natal 6th of health (destroyed, disruption to the cells, very much like the cancer that long-term low level polonium exposure would generate) and was conjunct his Saturn (destruction of bones/ bone marrow) and his natal Sun/ Neptune conjunction was being opposed by t Uranus which was just one minute off exact conjunct his Earth–Uranus too can arguably represent radiation (the modern, the planet for which uranium, similar to polonium, is named, carrying the ‘charge’ of radioactivity). t Sedna is conjunct the natal Moon, NN, and Chiron (we can’t see at the time what the ‘injury’ is, what it could mean, or what the effects to females in his life–who may also be ill–or the emotional toll–and this suggests he may not have been able to eat for some time). t Saturn was retrograde and within conjunction of his Venus (suppression of the capacity of the blood sugar to nourish, shut down to kidneys), and t Saturn had recently passed over natal Pluto, suggesting manifestation of something destructive, and it’s only this last that points to a possible plot. But, if there was one to deliberately contaminate the Palestinian leader, then we should see it elsewhere, and we do: t Moon as trine Arafat’s Part of Fortune at the approximate time of death, and the transiting Sun and Mercury were both close to conjunction with t Pluto (and thus Arafat’s Saturn, suggesting the transformation of the body), and t Pluto quincunx n Moon (with the Moon possibly being natal chart ruler for Arafat) with the ‘message’ of the Merc/ Sun/ Pluto meeting in this instance perhaps, to borrow a phrase from George Bush, ‘Mission Accomplished’  t Jupiter, playing so prominent a role in the natural death scenario, here is exact quincunx the North Node/ Chiron natal combo, this in my mind implying that the natural death process had been ‘adjusted’ (the quincunx), changing what would’ve been the natural time of departure–good an argument as any for a possible poisoning by radiation–so my vote is yes, he was murdered.

Findings on the exhumed materials (bones, cloth) in the Arafat case have been announced; here’s a good, ‘all sides of the story’ link

The Solar Eclipse 3 November 2013: A Mutual Dance

The Solar eclipse occurs 3 November at 4:49 AM Pacific Standard Time (the shift back to standard time occurs just hours before the eclipse) at 11 Scorpio 15. This eclipse occurs in tandem with Saturn, and there’s a whole parade of aspects: sextile to Pluto, square to Juno, trine to Chiron, wide quincunx to Uranus and closest of all, a sextile with only 4 minutes variation from Mars in Virgo.

Saturn’s presence indicates one of two alternatives for each individual experience: either we manifest materially a facet of the eclipse, or we suppress its manifestation or our awareness of its manifestation.

Whatever begins at this time may facilitate change and healing, and will certainly spur action, but it may bring up empowerment issues (others’ say over us, status, our own need for empowerment and whether this is fulfilled, respect between partners, and so on) and we may feel a little bit punished or otherwise required to adjust for expressing our most unique qualities and for touting our individual viewpoint.

One way or another, we will need to adjust our own position vis à vis others, particularly those close to us, who are supportive, or who actually partner with us. This, then, is the birth of a new phase in both interactions and our own view of ourselves, and this is especially and specifically so in terms of the action we feel is appropriate, that we feel capable of, and that we feel we may take on our own. This may be the biggest effect of all: a new idea of how we can act within the world–and of course, that can’t help but change just about everything.

The Solar eclipse may be both a start of new (possibly experimental) ways of acting and interacting, as well as a lesson in the way we are interdependent. No matter how original, unique, or independent we are as individuals, this eclipse may make clear that those choices, insights, and actions we make hold no meaning without being placed within a larger social context, without a connection to others, without engagement in a mutual ‘dance’ in which we all participate.

This is a partial analysis of the Solar eclipse of 3 November, taken from ECLIPSE; subscribe to get it all!

The mini-lessons are a chance for us to look closely at different facets of our own chart. ‘Spring’ Teodor Axentowicz 1900 {{PD-Art}}

This is from, ‘The Nodes: Where Are You Going, What Do You Know?’, the interactive lesson being sent to ECLIPSE subscribers later tonight:

“In my view the South Node should really be seen as a personal repository, a place where the horoscope reveals that we carry a very special mix of talents, knowledge, and experience that is available to us now; in fact, with it naturally opposed the North Node/ direction we’re headed, the implication is that this cache supports and feeds into our future development–and we would be wise, rather than shunning South Node matters, to mine them for what they can offer. The South Node is almost like a sign posted within the horoscope: this is where I’m adept, this is what I know, this is what I understand, exceptionally well.”

Just a Little Lunar Essence: the Lunar Eclipse 18 October 2013: I Am

‘The Head of a Woman or Goddess, Perhaps Demeter’ My question was, isn’t that the same thing? Sculptor unknown, Marble, from the Trajanic period 97-117 Courtesy of Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles California US

The first eclipse of the set is Lunar (a Full Moon) and falls at 25 Aries 45, arriving at 4:38 PM PDT (and for those of you who are tickled by synchronicities, I called the chart program up at precisely 4:38 PM, so that when I went to the correct day, there was the eclipse, already perfected!) We use, of course, our very strict orbs (that always somehow seem to get stretched!) so that the only aspect made is a quincunx to Ceres.

The singular event for this Lunar eclipse centers on a Full Aries Moon that is in uncomfortable aspect to the asteroid named for the goddess in control of the seasons, of nature itself, and with a powerful sense of territoriality and the strength to negotiate with even the most formidable opponents (in Ceres’ case, that was Pluto).

An Aries Full Moon marks the culmination of personal, individual effort, making a statement of the ‘I Am’ in no uncertain terms; we expect this statement in the natal House where the FM falls, and it’s purpose is Self-assessment, through a lens of completion: ‘I know I am ‘x’, because I have done ‘y”.

The Ceres quincunx suggests that the eclipse event of ‘I Am’ must take into account some power player, perhaps a woman of influence or authority, perhaps simply a human-shaped force of nature, or possibly an entity that feels they have say over our world, to the point of dictating our circumstances or negotiating our permissions, or another with whom we must ourselves negotiate in determining territory and reach. It may be someone from whom we have sought ‘permission’ of one kind or another at some point, who still believes your Self-statement is subject to their approval. It’s one of Ceres’ less endearing traits that someone strongly identified with this role may not clearly see her own legitimate boundaries–and this is something those involved with the lady (no matter what form she comes in) nearly always must negotiate for themselves–in this way contact with Ceres may challenge us to establish our boundaries to others, to announce our territory, or to say what or who we have dominion over–certainly an ‘I Am’ statement of the first order.

To see the complete eclipse report for both upcoming Lunar and Solar events, please subscribe!

Just a thought, morning of the 17th: Should we expect Mother Nature to act up? Maybe–with Ceres in Virgo, earthquakes may be the thing, but does fiery Aries promise lava? We’ll see! Sounds like a ‘scorched earth’ policy, in some important sense.

See other takes on the eclipse here, here, and here
