‘Portrait of a Nurse from the Red Cross’ Gabriel Émile Édouard Nicolet 1914 {{PD}}

We may be plagued by rage or those matters we have ignored or denied even exist, and so believe hurt is inevitable–but if we’ll just be honest about things, face what needs facing, and accept that, though we should’ve handled this in the past there’s no need for recriminations–we can direct our time and energy, with just a little effort and a willingness to be flexible, toward cleaning up or resolving those too-long-ignored matters. Use creativity, imagination, and compassion to heal and deal–these efforts will be especially effective within partnerships (Perfecting today: Chiron in Pisces quincunx Black Moon Lilith in Libra)

Today’s word image is one of those skimmer-bugs that shimmy across a pond. Are you skimming over something you should be more attentive to? Or are you failing to realize just how much emotional support you are receiving, and the buoyance, both spiritual and mental, this affords? Do you expect yourself or another to ‘walk on water’? Appreciation of and attention to what surrounds you is the Taurean-themed idea today, suggesting the prominence astrologically of Sedna (instinct, what we know but are unaware of, or what we should know but which sits in our ‘blind spot’, out of reach)

Doing or accepting something that hurts may be the smart thing–or is it that we must allow healing, either because it’s practical or because it’s wise? Which of the potential alternatives is for you depends, apart from your actual situation, on two things: how clearly and accurately your thought processes are assessing the road ahead, and what you’re dreaming about. With the former you must weigh how well you’ve done this in the past as well as how independent the intellect is at present from the emotions and external influences, in order to have some idea how accurate your projections ahead are, and with the latter I don’t mean literally (though for a certain number of you, dreams will of late have been an excellent window into the psyche), I mean what are you fantasizing for your future? Answering (and at the very least gleaning a keener understanding of yourself) will tell you whether you must be open to some hurt, or must make efforts to heal–one or the other is a necessary step today, no matter what else is going on (Chiron nov Pallas, Merc sesq NN, Sun enters Pisces/ Earth enters Virgo)

'Bathers' 1908 Kazimir Malevich {{PD}}

‘Bathers’ 1908 Kazimir Malevich {{PD}}

Our highest values and those things we honor (like the home front and our mate)  offer smart and practical guidelines to choice and action today, and we have a certain knack for originality in venues where we express our power or authority–so what’s not working? Our relationships and financial priorities might be almost too grounded in the reality picture–that is, we might be too quick to accept limits or that ‘that’s just the way it is’, and messages, especially feedback from the social sphere, or the facts of any matter, may be oddly hurtful, wounding without any discernible reason. We may be too open without knowing it to the nebulous hurt of the Collective, and find ourselves attaching that undefined pain to what we hear or think–the solution may be to stop paying so much attention to concrete boundaries and see to the psychic ones each of us must have in place for our own health and happiness (Vesta parallel Pallas, Uranus nov Ceres, Venus semi-square Saturn, Mercury semi-square Chiron and sesq Jupiter)

For the outlook for the 16th, please see the previous post. Thank you, and have a great day!

Today’s word image is protective netting blown off new garden seedlings by the wind. Is the wind a destructive element in your world, or a productive one? Do you shelter from it, curse it for desiccating your crops, hang your laundry to dry in it, or place your wind turbine in it to produce energy? Winds are, above all else, manifestations of change, whether that be barometric, historical, or personal shifts in fortune. What in your life is inevitably changing, and what ‘seedlings’ must you protect during that change?

Your Week Ahead 22-25 September 2015: Be Prepared

'La Montagne Sainte-Victoire' by Pierre-Auguste Renoir c1889 {{PD}}

‘La Montagne Sainte-Victoire’ by Pierre-Auguste Renoir c1889 {{PD}}

The 22nd sees material situations (possibly literally) hurt, wound, or demand our Chirotic skills be used, brings confusing, inspiring, or out-of-touch communications, and yet we can’t avoid some spontaneous, surprising, or forward-thinking rewards, and could enjoy an abundance of Love or Money. The particular variety and tone of current aspects implies a jumble of influences and some crazy-positive results, even if they come from what initially appears to be negative, and vice versa, good things may lead to something less-than-positive. The biggest factor may be that the influences, seen or unseen, will have a Rube Goldberg-esque quality that keeps the various traps, trips, and connections from drawing a straight line between first step and last; many will remain hidden, so that luck appears to play an almost magical part in what occurs. Our motto for today should echo the Scouts: be prepared.

On the 23rd we are empowered and/ or productive in direct proportion to how willingly we deal with reality and face those issues we’d rather ignore. Consequences of not taking care of ‘What Is’ include being the target of aggression (especially if our own aggressive stance is something we’re in denial about), injury to the identity or reputation, and being presented with what seem to be insurmountable barriers in our path. Progress accrues to those who don’t look to the social sphere for answers, who don’t accept injury as ‘just part of life’, and to those who are willing to make commitments (yes, even during Merc retro!) and accept the parameters of the game–then play the hell out of it with eyes wide open.1280px-Ecclesia_romana_(particolare),_XII_sec._d.C.,_mosaico_policromo,_dalla_Basilica_di_San_Pietro

By the 24th our thoughts may not know where to go; both our own reflections or advice from others seems unnecessarily gloomy or destructive, and we may not realize that it’s in allowing the dark thoughts to play out mentally that we find the new direction we must take. You know about the Jack Pine, right? Its cones are shut tight with resinous sap–the seeds can only escape when the cone burns. This is something like the process we’ll go through today. Don’t allow yourself to get so distracted by your own negative outlook that you miss the new thing, concept, or idea pushing up to the light–and what you choose to do about this idea in the material realm will help shape your future.

The 25th our power will be derived from following our instincts–but that requires we don’t confuse those with our Will, our emotions, or our mind. If we keep our thinking aligned with our highest values, we’ll find ourselves empowered, so don’t sweat it if you can’t immediately turn off the usual decision-making processes. In spite of this, it’s not a good time to take material action–and too, those who let the ego run the show will run up against a brick wall or three, when it comes to getting their way.

Seagulls (painting by Arkady Rylov, 1910) {{PD}}

Seagulls (painting by Arkady Rylov, 1910) {{PD}}

We have an image for the week, as well: At the edge of the water, on a sandy beach, a gull eats a young crab. The crab did nothing wrong, to make him something else’s dinner–but the gull didn’t do anything wrong, either, in catching and eating him. This week we may be more than a little aware of the natural order of things, and of the fact that Nature isn’t always gentle. We don’t have to like it, but we do have to accept it, and we’d be wise to respect it, as a part of that Vestal ‘Greater Than’ of which we’re a part.

See all my books, including my latest on Vesta, here–and thanks to all for the fabulous response!

Detail from The Children of the Duc de Bouillon by Pierre Mignard, 1647

Detail from The Children of the Duc de Bouillon by Pierre Mignard, 1647

As you may have guessed, I’m halting ‘Born Today’ for the foreseeable (ha! a forecasting joke) future. Sorry to those who might be disappointed. Instead I offer today’s look ahead and today’s image (for synchronicity and guidance), in the hope that you’ll forgive me.

22 June we may attract some unprecedented opportunities that come from our attitude of independence and/ or our sense of originality, but acquiring true power isn’t to be, at least not if we haven’t taken care of every, and I mean every, denied or ignored thing, and every spot of rage we carry. That doesn’t stop us from making the most of what does come our way—we have the energy and verve to make huge progress—but if we want to hold authority, we’d better first purge ourselves of anger and resentment—especially the upset we’d consciously swear up and down we don’t have. (Ceres sesquiquadrate Black Moon Lilith, Jupiter trine Uranus)

Today’s image is a plant that’s been getting too little light. What vital element have you not been getting enough of to function at peak levels? That’s the question we answer today.

Go for the trapeze artists, but stay for Miss Louise Hilton! Library of Congress via Wikimedia c1920 {{PD}}

25 January our own Willfulness can cause problems, and erratic behavior by ourselves or others in relationships or with money creates negative changes to our life direction. It’s good to know that difficulties are seated in imprudent action, rather than in anything we can’t prevent—the odd thing is, we have a clear picture of the current reality, and our thoughts and plans are centered on what we value and care about—so why does doing something, anything, seem to go so wrong? Temper and irresponsibility play their parts; so does Merc retro, which means that, though we think clearly, succinctly, and plan successfully, we can’t adequately convey that, nor are we suited to going forward in any way with implementing these thoughts. Take note of thoughts and plans, for they can be very informative and useful later, but save taking action for another day. (Perfecting today: Mars quincunx Juno, Venus semi-square Uranus and sesquiquadrate the North Node, Mercury parallel Venus, Sun parallel Saturn)

Today’s image is a trapeze artist, blindfolded. Of course, that makes sailing from one bar to the other that much tougher–but presumably, those who engage in trapeze work are so familiar with what they must do, that their bodies can carry out the right moves at the right time, without too much conscious interference. What are you being called to do that seems a little scary, a little tricky, but that if you allow sense and muscle memory to do their thing, it will go very well?

William Orpen 'The Eastern Gown' 1906 {{PD}}

William Orpen ‘The Eastern Gown’ 1906 {{PD}}

23 December we may face some serious concerns over how much relationships or the financial situation do or do not support our empowerment, and smart money says we take the long view, considering how this may end up affecting our future course. At least, that will be the approach of those who are listening for the Cosmic undercurrent; everyone else may treat those things we find upsetting us or drawing our attention as much less meaningful than we know them to be. The good thing is you’ll easily see who’s taking a deeper approach, and so be able to identify the kind of communication that may be most effective, either speaking ‘on the surface’ or looking beyond the obvious, depending on who’s in front of you. In any case, respect for others’ communications, reasoning processes, and mental perceptions is necessary, because there just won’t be any room to question or ridicule what others propose—everyone will need to be able to retain a sense of dignity in interaction—it’s best kept in mind that identities are fragile at this time. One thing you can count on: people will be telling you what they care about, even if the message is sent indirectly. (Venus quincunx Juno and square the Nodal axis, Mercury conjunct Vesta, Sun sesquiquadrate Juno, Saturn enters Sagittarius)

Today’s image is a baby. Close your eyes for a moment and imagine holding one, imagine the clean, ‘new baby’ smell of one, recall how incredibly soft they are. Have a completely human moment, communing with that very distinctive way we all begin our journey. There, doesn’t that feel better?

30 November our own minds, what we imagine, might turn out to be our own worst enemy—we may frighten ourselves with extrapolations and ‘What If?’ and may be far too quick to credit the past as better, smarter, and as holding the keys to success in the future. No, that’s not right. Bring everything valuable from the past but realize that it must take a new shape to go into the future; then, if you can clear the mind of fear, harness creative visualization to draw a picture of precisely what you want—attractive quality is strong right now, and so must be turned toward what will be, not used to generate boogey men. (Venus trine the South Node and sextile NN-Zeus, Mercury square Neptune)

Today’s image is a golem, made of clay, animated by what frightens us. The word means “unshaped form” and hints that what pursues, torments, troubles, and seems to bedevil us from without are really just those things we strongly fear; fear carries a charge that can invest inanimate material with life, and so deliver what we are most scared of right to us. Consider how differently those things that frighten us appear when we realize we are generating them ourselves, animating them with negative energy, and sending them out to chase us with a loud ‘Boo!’ Not so scary, anymore, are they? The image echoes Merc square Neptune, described in its current scenario above.

The Sabian Symbol + the Daily Word Image for the New Moon 22 November 2014

22 November—New Moon occurs at 4:32 AM Pacific Standard Time at 00 Sagittarius 07: ‘Everything Old is New Again’

The Sabian is, ‘Retired Army Veterans Gather To Reawaken Old Memories’. That, my friends, is a Re–Union. The implication is that we will see something resurrected, back together again, in imitation of a previous state or condition with the purpose of Re-Membering. This echoes the Saturn in Scorpio ‘setting’ for the New Moon, wherein reality contains layers of memory, mystery, nuance, truth, and many versions of ‘what is’ as seen through varied viewpoints and times—and the NM resurrects something specific to the re-uniting of those who experienced a past condition together. It’s perhaps past contacts brought together to celebrate that past, to re-live it, in a way—or to resurrect from memory something buried, forgotten, or ignored—which brings us back to Black Moon Lilith. ‘Everything old is New Again’ is an old saying (and song!) that may be what we’re humming come New Moon time.

Today’s image is the Egyptian god Osiris, a Scorpionic figure (a god of resurrection and the Underworld) reassembled by his sister/ wife Isis after his jealous brother (Set, for those keeping score) tore him to pieces. Isis put the pieces back together and wrapped them for burial; the one missing piece (the phallus) she fashioned herself so that he would be whole. She was then impregnated by the already-dead Osiris, with the result being she gave birth to their child, Horus. This image fits quite nicely with both the Sabian of the NM (a Reunion) and with NM’s contact to Saturn, still in Scorpio. The implication for we mortals may be that there’s still some seminal, creative ‘juice’ to be extracted from a real-life situation that by all rights should be (or at least appears to be) dead and lifeless. The New Moon may make it clear what this component, if handled correctly, can be used to create; all we have to do is ‘put the pieces together’.

The above is from the current ECLIPSE subscription package. ECLIPSE will be ending in its present form on 1 July 2015. Subscribers, I’ll send you all the details shortly for those who’d like to extend their subscriptions through to the end. Anyone interested in a new subscription: sign up now and receive the entire time through the end date for the new subscription price–that’s 7 months +–I won’t be accepting any new subscribers or re-ups from lapsed subscriptions after 1 January 2015. Thomas Fearnley – ‘Grindel Forest Glacier’ 1837 {{PD}}

13 November Today is the day when all is revealed—all in terms of our own power, influence, reach, and impact on others both personally and in the social sphere, at least. If we aren’t happy with our power situation we can make some smart moves to improve it; too, we’ll see the benefits of clearing out what’s outmoded or no longer precious to us, to make room for the new. (Pallas parallel Juno, Venus semi-square Pluto, Sun-Earth axis in T-square with Jupiter)

Today’s image is a glacier, melting just a little in the bright sunshine. What in your life seems to be moving at, as they say, a glacial pace? Know that no matter how nonexistent change in this area seems to be, the situation is on its way to ‘becoming fluid’. Change may still be a long way off, but it is coming.
