The AstroEssence for the 4th: the social sphere may be the scene of psychic, spiritual, or emotional injury, or it may offer healing through presenting you with salient facts–in either case, tender areas may appear to the individual larger or more more public than they actually are, and it may feel as if our attention goes too much toward what won’t work. Apply your most unique skills to problems, difficulties, and all creative efforts today, and keep your eye on the future–both can effectively guide in-the-moment choices and help you avoid wasting your energy by looking in the wrong direction (Jupiter parallel Chiron, Sun conjoined and parallel NN–the marker of a recent eclipse, btw–and Sun contra-parallel Zeus)

Today’s word image is sunshine after a cloudburst. Timing is so important; sometimes waiting is the best thing we can do.

For those born with the Sun at 12 Virgo: you’ve attended to neglected issues, addressed your anger, righted as many wrongs as you personally could; now what, with this new Solar year? You have your eye firmly on the future–so what may suffer is the present. In spite of having everything squared away, you may come to realize that the present, unlike the past or future, needs constant attention. To make the most of this year, through to your next birthday, you should listen to others, and be open to collaborative projects; let go of any lingering residual anger; and measure where you put your energy by asking yourself, ‘Is this sacred, and so something I want to have in my life?’ and ‘Is this something I want to honor, by giving it my energy?’ Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

I once again have some limited availability for consulting services–please see here for the particulars. Thanks!

The AstroEssence for the 3rd: We may find ourselves in the midst of multiple tug-of-wars (or is it tugs-of-war?), with our own sensibilities seemingly coming down on BOTH sides of the conflict. Ambitions echo the past, dreams lead our efforts toward empowering ourselves, and relationships seem to present the most vexing challenges, as we reject the social sphere, those in authority, and our peers! What’s left? Our inspirations are real; hold tight to these and let them guide you. Know that what draws our attention contains the needed wisdom or shows us the ‘smart move’; and accept that choices and actions are going to feel as if they violate our standards, though inspection later should reassure us that they did no such thing (SN parallel Zeus, Neptune trine Juno, Mars qnx Vesta, Venus contra-parallel Jupiter, Chiron, and Ceres, and qnx Ceres, Sun parallel Pallas and sxt Black Moon Lilith)

Today’s word image is a crow. Crows, we’ve recently discovered, are very very smart birds. They recognize individual humans, and will even share knowledge of what kind of human that is (source of food, mean to birds, etc). In what non-verbal way have you received knowledge lately from the group, and what knowledge was it? Were you conscious of it, or did you just soak it in? How did you use that knowledge, and if you’re just becoming conscious of it now, how will you use it in future?

For those born with the Sun at 11 Virgo: pure and inspired creativity, especially that which is drawn from past experiences, is yours this year, as long as you do one thing: confront every issue you have avoided, denied, or that has enraged you. You can’t keep your upsets to yourself any longer, nor can you expect to create success if you continue to refuse to deal with issues. It’s that simple, and that complicated, all at once. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

For those born with the Sun at 12 Virgo: I can offer you only three things, but if you use/ understand them, you will have all you need to make your year a success. 1) who you are shapes your fate, nothing, and no one, else; 2) relating to others emotionally will build the bridges you need; and, 3) don’t hesitate to look into the abyss, to deal with what you’d rather not, and to express your rage/ outrage when it is warranted. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

For the expected eclipse effects, please go here–and see the assessment of Mercury retrograde here–

The AstroEssence: on the 1st, aside from the eclipse effects (which will likely be the focus of everyone’s attention, and of course sets a tone that reverberates long past the day it originates, generally through to the next eclipse set), aspects perfecting today suggest a couple of things: that even though we will be empowered via the reality situation itself, we may perceive ourselves to be blocked or somehow denied–believe the real-world situation, not your own flawed idea of yourself in it; and know that staying open to our own instinctual responses is the best, wisest guidance we can receive (Pallas parallel Sedna, Sun sxt Juno and sq Saturn)

By the 2nd we may find that ‘big ideas’ end up challenging our priorities and values; we’re trying to connect with reality by rejecting fantasy, illusion, and the untrue, but we may end up throwing out the creative and imaginative ‘baby’ with anything we see as ‘tainted’ bathwater. Again, instincts serve us best, as does a willingness to respect the primal and the animal senses, unfiltered by the mind. Be aware that communications (or our own interpretative inclinations) may exaggerate matters and take a far too critical stance, and that taking a ‘power position’ will not serve at all those things we honor and find sacred (Pluto opp Vesta, Merc conj Jup, Sun parallel Sedna and opp Neptune)

The word image for these two days is a wolverine–the animal, in case there was any confusion. According to its Wiki, “The wolverine, a solitary animal, has a reputation for ferocity and strength out of proportion to its size, with the documented ability to kill prey many times larger than itself.” It’s also noted that in at least one cosmology, the wolverine is seen as creator of the world. So we have a symbol that is relatively small and yet formidable, freakishly powerful for its size–in fact, so powerful it can be a god. What in you or in your life has these characteristics? Is there any area where you see yourself as a powerful god, though others might only see a relatively small, tenaciously combative entity? If you are ferocious about something, is that ferocity warranted, or could it be an overreaction, an attempt to persuade others of a power you are yourself unsure of? And in what way does your passion separate you (the reference to the wolverine as naturally solitary) from others?

For those born with the Sun at 10 Virgo: you have to look at those matters that enrage you, or that you’ve been ignoring or in denial of–they are the keys to moving forward this year and bringing your dreams to reality. A new emotional viewpoint unfolds for you no matter what, though how you deal with all these factors, the feelings and the problems, will determine your future, and possibly your fate–so don’t hesitate to tackle difficulties; it’s vital you make your voice heard. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

Bits ‘n Pieces: A Little Something About Sedna

‘The Mermaid’ Howard Pyle 1909 {{PD}}

I thought I had talked about Sedna when I first introduced it as a regular player in the charts I use, so I went looking to point readers in that direction, but apparently the piece I’d been thinking of only appeared in ‘ECLIPSE’, or is buried in some larger, differently-focused piece. Here’s the small bit I found, with a little more added:

Sedna pinpoints our blind spots, those areas we are unable to view directly; we can only discern what’s in our blind spot by watching and listening to the feedback others offer, specifically the kind that addresses things about ourselves we’re unaware of. Typically, a Sedna-themed remark from someone else will surprise us, telling us we are seen differently than we think we are. We are either hyper-aware of our lack in Sedna’s area, or we believe we’ve got it covered, so don’t examine it.

To better understand our vulnerabilities, we can start with Sedna and the characteristics of the sign in which it’s placed, as well as the situation of the ruler of the sign, describing something about our awareness vulnerabilities. For instance, many of us have Sedna in either Taurus or Aries, as it’s very slow moving. In Taurus we may lack understanding around material matters: finances, comfort, food (just think of how far removed the majority of us have become in terms of raising our food, of basic nutrition, and through the rise of eating disorders and many culinary innovations, where we quite literally distort—and so forget–the purpose of food), and with Aries we may not know how to lead, how to take responsibility, may not recognize when our ego or aggressive urges are pushing forward, or we may not know how to take the initiative to get something going.”

House placement, too, can tell us where in life that ‘blind spot’ is most likely to show itself; this can serve as a warning for us, letting us know where we might be smart to get guidance or accept offered assistance. Sedna is associated with the ocean, and specifically is depicted as ‘diving deep’ and surviving there, suggesting she provides essential inner resources in times of stress. She represents the life-death-life cycle of energy of which we’re all aware, but of which we don’t necessarily want to think! This means she has a kind of ‘deep knowing’ that goes into the realm of the pre-verbal and the primal; this energy can give us a ‘backbone’, the origins of which we don’t see, and often influences us through the highly subtle mechanism we call instinct.

Sedna comes to consciousness in instances where Self-preservation (literal or psychic) comes into play, but don’t expect easy access to this energy, and don’t expect to be conscious of it, even when you are reacting from it, or drawing on it as a resource. As happens with each individual, we are only able to see ourselves in our reflection, and it’s the same with Sedna, a ‘blind spot’ we can only hope to glimpse (and call on) now and then, through the responses of others and the world.

See also the ‘Sealskin, Soulskin’ section of Clarissa Pinkola Estes’ book, ‘Women Who Run With the Wolves’, which draws parallels among several mythic stories that connect with and inform Sedna energy.

And, a movie I found that expressed Sedna exceptionally well (this review also appeared in ECLIPSE):

‘I Am Dina’ (Norway, 2002) Set in rural, mid-19th century Norway, this at first appears to be a Plutonian story, where a little girl inadvertently creates her own special hell–but then it becomes clear that this is a tale of Sedna and her Life-Death-Life experience, her water motifs punctuating one emotional point after the next. By adulthood, Dina is attractive in that way of people who let their wildness reign; the spirit in her is raw and elemental, and so seductive to those too much in denial of their own wildness. The men in her world, then, see only what they want to see and believe about her, starting with her father; only a gentle tutor, her sole companion for years, and a Russian anarchist traveling through, are in touch enough with their own wildness to see who she really is. With Maria Bonnevie as Dina, and an international cast including Gérard  Depardieu, Christopher Eccleston, Hans Matheson, and Mads Mikkelsen, in a scene where he declares his love for the woman he’s been raping, that will enrage you and break your heart, all at once. Lushly shot on location in Norway, in English, highly recommended

I’m going to wrap everything up together in this forecast for a few days ahead, as I finish the eclipse report (which should be available here on Monday the 29th) and give myself a little breather. This coincides with Dark of the Moon, a good time to plunge into a Merc retro period, as we’re already more open to the feeling and sensing nature, the mind stilled (somewhat) by the lack of Lunar light; we don’t find what we think, or what we think we feel, so prone to block incoming information as it usually is. Between Merc’s retreat and the looming eclipse, it seems that making the forecast as tight and easy to remember as possible might be best for everyone–so here goes:

The 29th: We may be inclined to be too headstrong, and so sabotage ourselves–cooperation is the key that both empowers us and brings about serendipitous reward and/ or ambition fulfillment (Mars sq Nodal axis, Venus enters Libra and nov Juno, Sun nov Zeus)

Today’s word image is a wounded bird. Accommodating an injury, whether it’s physical, psychic, emotional, or spiritual, is vital to both recognizing its impact and then helping it heal. Ignoring it only offers the potential for the wound to get worse–and if you don’t heal, how will you ever fly?

By Giovanni Dall’Orto – Own work, Attribution, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=5208666

The 30th: change of mind might echo a change of heart; we benefit by facing what we’ve recently ignored or denied. All positives today come from embracing our own personal uniqueness (Venus nov Black Moon Lilith, Sun parallel Uranus and nov Hygeia, see also Mercury Retrograde, below)

Today’s word image is a pumpkin, ripened to orange in the garden. That’s a sign of fall–and yet it’s still August! What thing in your world seems to have arrived much more quickly than you anticipated? Is it truly ‘out of season’, or is it indicating more time has passed than you thought? What’s unexpectedly ‘ready to go’?

The 31st: reality-based evolution (whether that is transformational or destructive) is smart, with opportunity fostered by confidence in one’s abilities, a determination to deal with facts and ‘what is’, and a refusal to be rebellious just for the hell of it (Pluto nov Pallas, Jup p Ceres, Sun contra-p Nep and sesq Uranus)

Today’s word image is Pinocchio. The little wooden marionette wanted to be a real boy so much he actually became one. Is there some ‘impossible’ thing you’ve been wanting? Because you may just get it (and all that attends it, all the positives and negatives), after all. And don’t forget to tell the truth.

For those born with the Sun at 7 Virgo: sorting deceptions and illusions from realities, along with a sense of the emotions as being ‘closed off’ and inaccessible, may be the two toughest things for you to face this year, Virgo. This may be the year when you see and deal with every possible impediment or obstacle in your path to what you want–and then you may find, quite suddenly, that you’ve gotten exactly where you wanted to go! So go to work on those problems–it will all pay off handsomely, in the end. Good luck, and Happy Birthday!

For those born with the Sun at 8 Virgo: empowerment, the status you crave, and being part of a ‘power couple’ (even if you’re a silent or unwitting partner) may be in your year ahead, Virgo; success depends on how well you incorporate your ideals into your every day, how ‘married’ you are to having no illusions (hint: the more you like The Truth, the better), and being willing to exercise your creativity (no matter how minor the effort, or how creaky your attempts–use makes them better and better). Be brave, be willing, and get over your fear of heights–you can’t reach the top without letting that go. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

For those born with the Sun at 9 Virgo: the anticipation feels killer, doesn’t it? Almost there, you may be telling yourself–but somewhere along the way, did you forget where you were going? That may be the sense you have of things this year, through to your next birthday, Virgo. It may be difficult to believe that your dreams have changed, as has your idea of what it would be to ‘make it’–but they have, and it’s up to you now to respond to those changes and alter course. Until you do, you may remain stuck–or worse, succeed in meeting the old goal, and being immensely disappointed in how it doesn’t fit your life now. Look at what’s deep inside–that’s the only way to know what’s real, and needs to be followed. Good luck, and Happy Birthday!

Mercury Retrograde 30 August-22 September 2016: Taking Aim at the Material

Mercury begins apparent retrograde motion at 6:04 AM Pacific time of the 30th at 29 Virgo 04–and immediately it feels like we’re thrown into a state of mental crisis! Criticisms, doubts, and potentially a headlong rush back toward either ‘the facts’ or the standards of the social sphere ensues–and this is just our immediate reaction. The retro period is one that prompts us to re-think, examine, and question the material situation (Earth sign) and how we got to where we are. We ask ourselves if we’re satisfied with what we’ve got, with what we see around us, with what we’re earning, bringing in, getting, enjoying, and whether our resources are adequate to our intentions; our thoughts about the material situation, likely keyed to matters of the House where the retro occurs (and secondarily to the Houses ruled by Merc), are vetted, and by the end of the retro we may have a completely different idea of what we need and want materially at this time. This interval will change our material aims, both how we think of our goals, and how we intend to get there.

If we look at the retro picture poetically, we see that Mercury was in pursuit of Venus, newly fled into Libra (to the shelter of a partner? or a tax or investment shelter? or a partnership of earning and caring, or one of being valued or valuing the partner as an asset?) but the chase slows and then abruptly ends, with Merc retreating to a social milieu (a retro meeting with Jupiter) that welcomes him and envelops him with ‘I told you so’ and ‘What were you thinking?’ and ‘What more do you want?’ This meeting can also signal a retreat to ‘Big Picture’ thinking that believes the individual is too important to mess with details–a misunderstanding of the energy, in this instance.

Heed instincts and the wisdom of impulses on the 6th, as Merc trines Sedna, and be prepared–this re-thinking and re-ordering may hurt, or potentially could heal our ideas about the material world and our place in it (the 10th). At the same time as the hurt/ healing, we also receive a personal shock, lightning strike, or group contribution that offers wise revelation, that brings forward just what we need to hear, realize, or learn (Merc as apex to a Finger of God with base of Uranus-Pallas). A Fist of God forms the 12th with Mercury-Sun square Mars, apex Ceres in Taurus, that suggests action combines with thought, ideas, plans and though it’s not easy, the result will be the best ‘power position’ we can hope for materially in the moment. This also happens to be the point of the Inferior Conjunction of the Sun and Mercury, so keep awareness of whatever ‘seeds’ may be planted, deliberately or inadvertently, at this time. Mercury goes direct around 10:30 PM Pacific time on the 21st, in the midst of a trine to Pluto. This suggests change, transformation, destruction, reformation, right out of the gate, based on the changes to our mentality and to our view of the material world, and our place in it.

The page on the September eclipses is up!

Thank you, and enjoy the run up to the eclipse!

Le goûter sur l’herbe (1892) by Maurice Réalier-Dumas {{PD}}

The AstroEssence: This weekend the emphasis is on our own strength, and finding a balance of expression between the highly personal (instinct, idiosyncrasy, hurt, relationships) and the wider world (the social sphere, what’s wise, our ability to have an impact). Both sides of the equation must reach a state that allows optimum expansion of reach that still protects (that is, allows unique ‘statements’ by) the individual, and also guards the integrity of the core purpose, identity, and intents. The idea is to maximize our expression, while still remaining, in whatever way this applies, ‘safe’. Not a time to take risks, as our sense of what’s smart will conflict with our instincts, causing (quite naturally) confusion; but we can connect cleanly with opportunities for gain (especially in the House of the natal chart that holds the Venus-Jupiter conjunction in Virgo, and those Houses ruled by Venus), and we can gain a solid sense of who we are at our best (in our ‘ideal’ form), of our most valuable skills, as well as where our true power, territory, and influence lie. The ideas and way of thinking about ourselves that we set now will last (and so affect everything going forward) for some time to come–and so set us up for success (if we focus on our value and abilities) or disappointment (if we think too much about what we don’t have, or see ourselves as victims) (Saturday: Pallas sq Sedna, Chiron sesq Juno, Venus conj and parallel Jupiter, Sun trine Ceres/ Sunday: Hygeia conj Zeus, Neptune contra-p Pallas, Venus p Ceres and Chiron, conj Merc and nov Juno, Merc stations pre-retro on the 30th)

The word image for the weekend is an expensive Tartan picnic blanket, spread out on the summer grass. This is in essence a pleasant ‘stage’ upon which to have a picnic–but, in the image, there is no luncheon displayed, nor do we see picnic participants, at least not yet. Where in your life is the stage set for a celebration of the current ‘weather’, of what you have (a celebration of abundance), or of whom you’re with? Do you put off enjoying what is, waiting for things to be ‘perfect’? Or is it that you fail to see (and so enjoy) the small celebrations available every day, over the many little things we’re lucky enough to have and enjoy? Do you need to take time off, to relax, with no particular agenda or goals, for a while? Consider the phrase, ‘It’s no picnic’–and then resolve, in one form or another, to have one.

For those born with the Sun at 5 Virgo: this year, through to your next birthday, is likely to be filled with contests of power and authority; not only will you spar and negotiate with those who hold power in your world, you’ll also begin accruing significant power through these interactions, in effect joining the ranks of the establishment and declaring dominion over your own special territory and ‘subjects’. You are, at this time, destined to establish yourself, especially in areas of Love and Money, and the approach you embrace at this time will set the tone for the entire year, and may reverberate for some time after that–so choose your ideas, words, and communications with special care. Expect to gain, to reap the reward (or at least, the result) of opportunities taken in the past, and know that what comes to you now is completely deserved. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

For those born with the Sun at 6 Virgo: focus is on empowerment (making your presence and Will felt), on status, and on partnership, and the kind and amount of cooperation you’re getting, and this extends through to your next birthday, Virgo. You may be measuring power situations and your own effectiveness with a very personal set of standards, and everything that happens, much more than usually, will feel like it’s happening in big bold life-size experiences that are only happening to you. Because of this, you may temporarily lose both perspective and a sense of compassion toward others–but this Self-focus is necessary in order to prepare you to enter a creative heyday, and realization of one or more ideals or dreams, in the near future. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

The AstroEssence: The mental faculties have a genius for finding and exploiting empowerment situations; it’s almost as if we think about having an impact and we do! This facility is tempered by a lot of conditions and caveats, though: we may be confused or following a deception or illusion if the areas involved are ones we’ve been angry over or have assiduously ignored or been in denial of; we may find ourselves thinking from a stance of past values, rather than current ones; we may imagine we’re fueled by a righteous cause or spiritual necessity when we’re really trying to show our independence in relationship or finances, hoping to gently ‘stick it’ to someone we suspect (yes, it’s easy to be paranoid, right now) doesn’t love or respect us; and we may eschew what and who we care about out of a misguided idea that others are not being honest with us. As much as possible, stay grounded in your current ideas, viewpoints, ways of perceiving, and your most evolved way of seeing the past–we must work to keep our own hidden beliefs and prejudices from coloring our current perceptions, and especially from allowing vague suspicions to taint perfectly good relationships (Vesta trine SN, Neptune trine and Venus semi-sq Black Moon Lilith, Uranus parallel and Venus qnx Pallas, Venus trine Sedna, Merc nov Juno and contra-parallel Venus)

Today’s word image is individuals, seen at a distance, helping each other scale a mountain. Right now many of us may be dealing with issues surrounding how much we need or want others in our lives; we try to measure our own need for aid, possibly with the built-in judgment that to accept or require assistance from others is bad. Nothing could be less true: a version of cooperation is the heart of civilization, and needed for everything from survival to creating Art (for if we make it, what does it matter, unless there’s someone to receive it?) See if you carry some judgment against working with others, seated in misplaced pride, unreal pressures and expectations, or in the myth of ‘rugged individualism’–and then let it go.

Virgo can make significant progress right now, especially in terms of the ‘power harvest’ that lies just upon the horizon. Vincent van Gogh – ‘Enclosed Field with Ploughman’ 1888 {{PD}}

For those born with the Sun at 4 Virgo: this year, through to your next birthday, you may be dealing with important crises in Love or Money–and yet, if you’ll take a step back, you’ll see that they aren’t problems, but turning points, ones that will allow you to align the real-world issues surrounding assets and interactions in a way much more in line with what you need and want, and how you truly feel. You may think yourself a little cold, taking a largely mental approach to these matters, but the reality is that applying your own critical assessments to these areas will vastly improve them–and open the way for the ‘power position’ that you are very close to achieving. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

The AstroEssence: A great deal of the free-floating angst we’ve been experiencing may come down to a pair of Mars contacts this week: yesterday’s perfection of Mars conjoined Saturn, and today’s perfection of Mars square Neptune. This combination urges us to apply our Will to the physical environment–and promises at least some ability to shape our reality, as long as we don’t succumb to confusion, illusion, deception, or that particular form of imagination that we turn against ourselves, causing panic, fear, even despair, conjuring upset (and so paralysis) out of thin air. This is in part why I urged action and confidence yesterday, as soon enough we would face a Neptunian doubt or three, imagined dragons menacing our way forward. Today’s mission is clear: continue forward with what you set in motion, and instead of entertaining hesitations, actively access creativity, especially when confronted with something that brings forward fear. Tackle problems and invent, envision, and then act on those inspirations; doing so combines the required active stance with a useful channeling of energies that might otherwise feed insecurities. And don’t be surprised if creative efforts either run into problems on first look, or arise from problems (the square); in either case, it’s our response that both matters, and determines our success, with results coming clear most likely when Saturn squares Neptune, perfecting September 3rd.

We also see these familiar themes still front-and-center: we have the wisdom to pursue the ‘healthy’ Path–but as always, it’s a matter of choice; wants, finances, or relationship dynamics could spur rebellion or spark unreliability as we seek (a probably unreasonable) independence from issues; and we are not thinking like the social sphere, which could emphasize our differences (with the biggest problem the potential for distraction from what really matters) (Pallas contra-parallel Hygeia, Mars sq Neptune, Venus qnx Uranus, Merc contra-parallel Jupiter)

Henri Rousseau 1897 {{PD}}

Today’s word image is a surge in the electrical lines leading into a house. We rely on a constant, steady stream of power, whether from the power company, our metabolism, or our psyche; when there’s a surge, the system overloads, and the contact becomes destructive. In the individual this results in manic behavior, compulsive agitation, and we lose the ability to rest, accept gaps and spaces in efforts, we lose the grace to value the element of Time (often needed for something to develop, to ripen), and we fail to value the receptive and responsive stances that are the necessary complement to action. How or where are you overloaded, and what steps may be needed to restore balance or refurbish contact, so that it’s useful, rather than destructive, once again?

A little weird fun from Imagine Dragons that isn’t so far off our feelings this week

For those born with the Sun at 3 Virgo: this coming year, Virgo, through to your next birthday, you may find yourself ever-more concerned with the power situation in your world: who holds it, how much you have, your say or lack of it over others (and theirs over you), and the influence you have in a particular area or ‘territory’ you can call your own. This may be the year when you establish yourself as an authority in some area vital to your identity; it may also, depending on your age, be the year when you find a mentor or become one yourself, and issues with your parents or over being a parent yourself may be prominent. Independence and the ability to exert your Will will be the focus; the two main caveats are: don’t focus on material results at the expense of relationships, and keep actions and choices grounded in reality–deceptions and creativity are both abundant. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

The AstroEssence: We may be tempted to let our values and priorities slide, to set ourselves at odds with the social sphere, or to ignore the potential for wounding others within relationships, just to make things happen; the smart thing would be to reassess our values, if they’re getting in the way of growth, expansion, or ‘the facts’, to remember/ reconnect with Nature and our place in it, and to stop ignoring those realities that don’t serve our current idea of who we are–with this latter, deal with what’s been denied so that it no longer contradicts the Self-image. If we’re not honest with ourselves, it’s impossible to have ‘clean’ relationships or to teach, advise, or to interact with enough Self-awareness that everything we say doesn’t contain a touch of irony to those who are more awake. We have the chance to manifest our Will at this time, to apply the control, the restraint, and the ‘rules’ of reality to manipulate the physical world so that it is an exact realization of our wants and intents–don’t blow it by denying ambitions or desires (out of false modesty or a reluctance to claim those wants as your own–see the ‘Self-image’ section, above), and don’t think that things can be ‘thought’ into being–today is about action, choice, Self-responsibility, and knowing (and proudly claiming) your essence (Pallas sesq Vesta and qnx Jupiter, Mars conj Saturn, Venus contra-parallel Juno and opp Chiron, Merc contra-parallel Ceres, Sun contra-parallel Black Moon Lilith and semi-sq Zeus)

Today’s word image is a sponge. As if that isn’t obvious! There are areas of life for all of us where our boundaries are down, and we are wont to absorb the environment and the associated influences indiscriminately. My thought is that this area of both trust and vulnerability may be located in matters of the House that holds Pisces (I confine it to the sign, as where Neptune sits we are often more conscious of issues of faith, acceptance, and a tendency to accept influences). Consider in what life areas you may be too prone to accept what you’re told, offered, or that you experience without the needed critical assessment and the deployment of a discerning perception (both related to opposing sign Virgo). You may need to ‘wring out’ the sponge, relieving yourself of burdens and ideas accepted without much inspection–or you may simply need to note where you have uncritically taken for granted the truth of things, and perhaps look at how much of this agrees/ clashes with what you believe, and what you think, need, and feel.

For those born with the Sun at 2 Virgo: you may have the odd sensation this year, Virgo, that your fate and future are rushing toward you–which may make the inability to see clearly what’s coming all the more frustrating. It may be a year when sights are set on ambitions, goals, and the desire nature, but when not much happens in fulfilling those areas, as energy will shortly go toward emotional conflict, and the need to work out with others how much of that feeling nature you are willing to share, and how much you must keep for yourself, in order to fuel the push toward creating what you want–because if the emotions are sent too completely in one direction or another, developments in what you aim to create will go slowly, sporadically, or grind to a halt. You duty is to allocate emotional energy in the correct proportion between relationships and your own needs–everything else this year is small stuff. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!
