Just a Little Lunar Essence 7 November 2012: ‘Pick Your Poison’

We may not be able to choose our own poison, today. ‘Circe and Sylla’ shows how the enchantress Circe poisoned the waters in which the handmaiden Sylla was to bathe; geesh, it was all over a guy. by Strudwick 1886 {{PD-Art}}

Void begins at 2:28 PM PST; the Moon enters Virgo at 9:35 PM PST of the 7th.

The Virgo Moon immediately opposes Neptune, separating the men from the boys, as they used to say–and by that I mean, we’ll find ourselves on one side or the other of a wide divide: we’ll either be firmly ensconced in fantasy, delusion, deception, or a vibrant and vivid creativity, or we’ll be highly sensitive, highly emotional, and highly focused on details, and possibly very critical as a result. I’m not sure we’ll be able to choose our poison, in this instance; we may just realize where we stand in the midst of it, as both alternatives are highly reactive ones.

From the latest ECLIPSE; get it now to get your upcoming Solar eclipse influences in order!

November 6th: Besides the retrograde of Mercury (at 3:03 PM PST at 4 Sagittarius 18) we have Juno sextile Zeus, Venus sesquiquadrate the South Node, the Sun quincunx Jupiter, and the Earth as apex to a Finger of God with base of Juno-Zeus. What a tidy little package (most of ) this makes! Though Mercury may be taking a great deal of our attention, we really should keep an eye on that Finger, as it describes a power struggle by a pair of Olympians (the US election?) one of whom feels terminally disrespected and who’s out for revenge, while the other holds all the real power–you figure out who’s who! When we look at the Sabian for the Earth at this point, we get this: ‘Head Covered With a Rakish Silk Hat, Muffled Against the Cold, A Man Braves A Storm’ That says to me that Frankenstorm Sandy will not succeed in keeping voters home–and possibly suggests a minimum of Merc-style problems, at least for the election.

The Venus-SN aspect, as well as the Sun-Jupiter one, describe an active social arena where both the past and the reality situation will have to be respected if anyone is to gain. Obviously, adjustments will need to be made by all parties–but in the end this will be worth it–and I have a sense that, at least on a smaller scale, this may usher in a new era, one that is both more practical, more kind, and more rewarding for all concerned.

Find someone reliable to help you gain perspective. ‘Het Duet’ by Van Beveren 1850 {{PD}}

November 5th Jupiter perfects opposition to Juno and Pallas sextiles Sedna. It may seem that our own empowerment options are in direct contradiction to what the social arena expects or will accept–and we won’t feel we have the internal measure of wisdom necessary to sort it out. This would be correct; we must look outside ourselves for some yardstick against which to judge the situation before us. Go for tried-and-true sources of counsel rather than spinning off on a new tangent; what seems original or unique might really just be freakish–remember, our ‘pickers’ are off right now.

‘Oarsmen Rowing on the Yerres’ G. Caillebotte c1878 {{PD-Art}}

Currently we’re looking at a Void now through 12:44 AM PDT tomorrow, November 3rd; Voids typically play out in weird combinations of short-circuited efforts, ennui, low energy, false starts, and sometimes the unanticipated outcome or opportunity. Today seems right on target as I wander listlessly from room to room. Thank goodness it all perks up tomorrow with the Moon’s entry into Cancer, if only by giving us a definite lens through which to inspect our surroundings. As I said in ECLIPSE:

Upon entry of the Moon into Cancer at 12:44 AM PDT of the 3rd, a trine is formed with Neptune that may set the tone for the entire transit of this, the Moon’s own sign. Events may be interpreted through an emotional lens that features fantasy, imagined circumstances, ideals, and/ or deceptions accepted as fact, and confusion is as likely an emotional ‘outlook’ as is taking a creative and imaginative tack with the day. It’s your choice, but then again, it may be rowing against the tide to try and stay super-grounded at this point. Try to channel Neptune’s seminal influence (seminal as it informs the Moon’s transit of the entire sign of Cancer) into some area where you can put creativity fueled by emotions to good use.

And for Sunday the 4th:

November 4th sees Saturn perfect his trine to Ceres and Venus reach sesquiquadrate to Sedna. We may feel a challenging atmosphere surrounding the gentle, receptive, relationship-keyed energies, as well as around those natural powers that are distinctly female; the difficulty may be that either some harder-edged inclination wants to tame, restrict, or contain these influences, or that, especially in the case of a female herself, these influences may simply be ‘forgotten’, for a time. How you react may all depend on your own balance of Saturn (reality-keyed, fixed, rigid, serious and stolid, constructive and constrictive energy) and Venus (relationship and asset-keyed, playful, desiring and affectionate, luxury-loving, jealous and teasing, receptive and symbolically soft and fluid).

I am doing a limited number of Eclipse Reports keyed to the upcoming November eclipses as they affect the individual natal chart. This is a report that zeroes in on what the eclipses might bring forward in your life over the next six months (through to the next eclipse set). Eclipses seem to elaborate themes that manifest through each individual differently, and the chart can be a helpful guide to where in life these will show and how we might best handle them. These reports are delivered by email in PDF form and will look at the ways the eclipse energies ‘light up’ the natal scenario; ideally, the report highlights the issues that will be most prominent for you, and will offer some commentary on other major transits in force at the time that may influence eclipse effects. These are not complete natal assessments, nor are they meant to answer current life questions (though they might, considering the impact eclipses can have)–instead they look at a temporary effect, like an electrical current sent surging through a circuit–until the current is re-directed six months later. That means the reports talk about targeted areas of your chart, with everything written by me personally–no computer generated material is used–but that also means that I get to the point, so if you’re looking for length or excessive verbiage (though I’m certainly capable of it!) these are not typically part of the package. Write me at my name at hotmail.com to inquire about availability–please understand that spaces may go quickly so that I cannot guarantee how long they will be available–cost is $55 for non-subscribers, for paid subscribers it’s $35 (Please, send no money until you’ve contacted me–I will bill you). Please be patient as I answer mail and set up appointments–you will be notified quickly if no space is available, and I will post here as soon as spaces are filled. And if you’d rather get the general eclipse outlook for the first event (the New Moon eclipse of 13 November), plus the detailed daily forecast and more, it’s already available, subscribe now!

‘Self Portrait as Jean Valjean, with Emile Bernard at right’ Gauguin 1888 {{PD-Art}}

From the current ECLIPSE:

November 1st brings Venus quincunx Chiron and opposed Uranus, while the Sun sesquiquadrates Vesta. We would like to be spontaneous, but it just doesn’t go well, and someone or something discourages us in the Love or money department–and I’m not sure they have a right or a reason to. We may be seeing all the inconveniences of having a strong values system at this time (we would really just like to not re-cycle, or stop for pedestrians, or wipe down the exercise bike, just this once) but our sense of pride won’t allow it. The urge to act out is just a re-channeled reaction to that discouragement we were given–and when we realize that, we can take the reins and not be a victim of unconscious impulses. Assess the discouragement and you’ll likely see someone unhappy offering you the downer–so just ignore them.

‘The Gossip’ Gestel c1905 {{PD-Art}}

The Moon enters Gemini at 11:41 AM PDT.

Right away the Moon forms a T-square with a square to Neptune and an opposition to Mercury. It may be tempting for those so inclined to drive communications off into a ditch full of tall tales and outright lies; everyone else will be frustrated in getting their message across and everyone will be prone to misunderstandings. Though with Merc going retro soon the sense that we must  be heard (or make the agreement, or draw the contract) immediately strong, insisting at this time will only cause difficulties. Relax, retreat, and re-group before going forward.

8 PM PDT the Moon trines Venus; we can enjoy ourselves at this point, though the question is, will money be flowing to us or through our fingers? You know who you are, so you know which one it will be–proceed accordingly.

‘Well, Millstone, and Cistern Under Trees’ Cezanne c1870 {{PD-Art}}

The Full Moon arrives at 12:48PM PDT of the 29th at 6 Taurus 47. Commentary on the meaning of the Full Moon is from the latest issue of ECLIPSE; this particular excerpt discusses the Sabian symbol for the meeting of Moon and Earth:

The Sabian for the Full Moon is, ‘The Woman of Samaria at the Ancestral Well’. In the New Testament of the Bible, this is the woman who goes to the well as Jesus sits near it, and since he has no equipment with which to reach into the well and pull up water, he asks her for a drink. Apparently this surprises her, as the Jews and the Samaritans did not at that time interact; they begin a conversation, where Jesus talks of the power of knowing God as water, and famously tells her that if she drinks from the well, she’ll be thirsty again, while if she drinks in the spiritual sense, she’ll never thirst again. It’s notable, though, that she’s only convinced that Jesus knows what he’s talking about when he speaks of her 5 previous husbands, and that she lives now with a man she’s not married to–then she declares Jesus a prophet. She knows of the prophecy of the Messiah who will be called the Christ, and Jesus declares himself to be this figure. The suggestion may be that in some way we are, at this Full Moon, the woman of Samaria in spirit, lead to spiritual enlightenment (and this is not specifically a Christian enlightenment–I’m simply playing off the symbol and the story) by someone we would not usually encounter or have an exchange with, who ‘sees’ into us in a way we don’t think is possible, and who in some way acts as a spiritual example for us.

‘The Lesson’ Renoir 1906 {{PD-Art}}

In the 26th of October at 7 AM Pacific time brings the Moon opposed Venus and trine Mercury. If you’re thinking of making a purchase, make it now, and if you’re contracting for something, paying as little as possible is on the current agenda. If, however, you are negotiating to be paid in some form, or are hoping your words will fall sweetly on a loved one’s ear, think again–you will likely not be paid what you’re worth (or what you could get elsewhere) and your loved one may not be feeling the love behind the message.

October 27th features the Sun trine Chiron and Mars sextile Zeus. It’s a day for healing, and this might either apply to the restoration of some dream or desire that had in the past been damaged and upon which we can now act (the dream itself healed) or that by pursuing our ambitions and desires we may find this a healing action. The suggestion is that there is something within our ambitions that can correct our own misperception about ourselves, whether that misperception comes from external or internal feedback.

On the 28th at 11:30 AM PDT the Moon hits the midpoint of Pallas-Sedna, suggesting that our emotions and ‘intuitions’ may right now just be expressions of Will (Moon in Aries) and so not at all trustworthy. We won’t recognize wisdom at this point if we fall in a bucket of it–so chill and wait a few hours, then take the emotional temperature again.

To see it all in detail, please subscribe to ECLIPSE!

Just a Little AstroEssence 24 October 2012: ‘Doing What’s Wise’

Created and generously released into the public domain by Evan-Amos http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Evan-Amos

October 24th sees Venus oppose Pallas and square Vesta, while Mercury trines Pallas and quincunxes Vesta. We may be juggling relationships, finances, or values as we try to do what’s wise, and though we can think it through, our perception may be that, when it comes to actually applying what we’ve decided, it could appear to threaten the very relationship, financial situation, or life-value it’s meant to correct or benefit. It’s a time when it may be very difficult to put our money (or relationship, or choices) where our mouth is, as the saying goes–but we would be wise to grit our teeth and do it anyway, as anything that doesn’t survive this episode needed to go, anyway–even if we didn’t think so.
