9 November 2010: Authentic Feeling

Moon enters Capricorn on the 9th at 5:36 AM PST, contacting Pluto and the North Node, and illuminating that config (explained in detail in the Private Pages). What we may feel at this point may not be authentic to ourselves; when the Moon’s involved, we could be reflecting a darkness that is familiar but not a true read of our own depths. Keep this in mind as it may be easy to take on a tragic tone as the day begins for Pacific coast denizens (and this may settle on others at corresponding points in their day).

By 11 PM PST of the 9th the Moon will meet Ceres and both will be semi-sextile Mars. The struggle here may be subtle, with maternal or feminine instincts pitted quietly against ego, Will, aggression, or masculine drives. Once you can accept that there’s room for both inclinations, both internally and externally, then the way is opened to co-operation.

For more (particularly on that unusual config in evidence at this time) see the Private Pages on for ECLIPSE readers–purchase gives you access to the full picture http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/the-latest-new-fall-2010-eclipse  Thanks to all who are supporting, reading, participating. As you may have noticed, the public postings have been very truncated as of late–this is thanks to the handful of persistent thieves who continue to take my and my colleagues’ work. I’ve just received personal communications from someone who had massive amounts of her work stolen and posted without her consent. To the thieves: I don’t understand how you can be so totally disrespectful of others’ efforts (because so often, you hide behind the idea that you are benefiting others, both seekers and authors, by stealing–a real bunch of new age Robin Hoods!) The belief that you are ‘helping’ us by taking our writing and ‘sharing’ it is ludicrous–does the thief help the baker by taking his bread? No. Copyright means we decide when and how our work is used–it is not solely about attribution or payment–it is about what we want to do with what we’ve created. I’m very close to ending public posting for myself altogether, and my friend has already withdrawn a great deal of her work. It would be a shame if what is given freely at present disappears because certain people insist they have the ‘right’ to take whatever they want. I’m very near naming names of those who persistently steal from this blog–though it’s obvious that some knowthat what they’re doing is wrong because they hide behind screen names. I’ve discovered the identity of some of you, and others I’ve got a short list of possiblities; the ill-will you’re breeding in the astrological community is monumental–this has been a major topic of late, as it happens to more and more of us–and I believe it will come back to haunt you–not here, as you slink about in the shadows (or even act friendly toward we astrologers, under another guise), but in life, where karma will make sure the scales are balanced, and you have something personally important and meaningful taken from you. That’s my authentic feeling on this chill autumn night.

8 November 2010: Embracing Discretion

Tags

, ,

Here’s the tip for the day:  In the early morning hours of the 8th Mercury moves into the 29th degree of Scorpio, semi-sextile Venus, taking the lady of love’s tension and giving it a ready outlet in communications. Yikes! Control is even more important than ususal with this influence; discretion, especially choosing to hold back rather than speak out, is in this instance very much the better part of valor. Venus is not herself nowadays–she’ll appreciate that you held back (and so will you) once she goes direct.

7 November 2010: Thoughts on a Sunday

Tags

,

Hello my Pretties! Just a few things knockin’ around on a prickly-smooth Sunday. Why prickly-smooth? We’ve got the transiting Moon in Sagittarius conjuncting Mars, backing the aggressive thrust with an emotional impetus that makes us reach out–but are we being at all thoughtful of our purposes, others’ feelings, and/ or what we might set in motion? This is the question–will we be attuned enough to realize our aims and focus our energy in a positive direction, or is ‘over the top’ too strong a call to be resisted? Oh, I’m full of questions today!

The smooth part is that if we’re in sync enough with prevailing energy, we can make great strides in our intended directions. So, a boost is available, if we can embrace an adventurous attitude that doesn’t run over others in the process.

If you can play it modestly cool until late evening PST, the Moon hits Pallas and we see the light–wise directions are pointed out through the emotional perceptions–and we can make really good choices.

5 November 2010: The New Moon in Scorpio ‘Empowering Message’

Get a mug for your favorite Scorpio http://www.cafepress.com/dogandsunflower

The New Moon occurs at 9:52 PM Pacific at 13 Scorpio 40–the only aspect made is a sextile to Juno.  The Sabian is ‘Telephone Lineman at Work Installing New Connections’  Combined these say that the connections and ‘lines’ necessary for empowerment are being created or strengthened, whether we are aware of that or not. It’s a straightforward picture that also implies technology or Uranian subjects (as dictated either by Uranus itself or by Uranian connections in the natal chart) are involved. Again, this may be happening hidden from view (Scorpio)–and this says it’s a process that we will be able to have little conscious effect on. Consider it the ‘birthing point’ for something(s) that have been sotto voce in consciousness so far–and welcome the chance to see what needs to come out of the dark and into the light, rather than fear it.

The New Moon’s ‘Empowering Message’ is very particular to the individual; more details on the current aspect picture are available here at the Private Pages with purchase of ECLIPSE magazine http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/the-latest-new-fall-2010-eclipse/ or try JUNO IN THE NATAL CHART, here http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com Thanks!

3-4 November 2010: The Struggle

Tags

,

Today’s Libra Moon meets Saturn and h. Zeus–and likely leaves us exhausted, as we struggle. Against what, you may ask? You name it, we’re likely to fix on and attack whatever catches our fancy (Moon sextile Mars), and the worst part is, most of what we find attack-worthy will feature the shape of our own internal dragons, whether they wear the guise of our partners (Libra), and external opponent (someone who insists on being unique, to what seems like our detriment, the social circle, or a group that asks we conform–quincunxes to Jupiter and Uranus). We think we know how to handle it (Mars c. Pallas) but it’s far too easy to slip into illusion, fantasy, or to apply creative energy in an area better suited to a clear response to reality–gettin’ fancy with it only adds to our problem (and may be an expression of our own need to give creatively). Mischanneling energy is a big possibility over the coming two days, and much of the blame lies with a true need to be aware of our own power (the gathering of Pluto/NN/Ceres)–our awareness is focused on sorting things out (Sun c. Vesta) and our attention has a hard time going anywhere else for long.

2 November 2010: Emotional Issues

Tags

, ,

Retro Venus, Mars, and Pluto/NN are the core of the action today and early tomorrow–the Will, personal action urge, and aggressive energies will be fired up (likely unconsciously) and the challenge is to understand that what seems like a perfectly reasonable demand that you’re issuing is really a reflection of other upsets, deficiencies, or imbalances to the love nature. Target areas may be our closest relationships and/ or artistic ventures.

I tried to post three hours ago and I got, get this, ghost writing! Yes! I would write and nothing showed in the text space here at WordPress–it was very distressing, after a hellacious day doing the last little doodads to ECLIPSE–made me wonder if I should just sit very still, but no! That’s not me! So please watch for the button on the page at Dog & Sunflower, it should be active within about an hour.  Meanwhile, I was hoping to talk a little about tonight and the Leo Void-of-Course Moon, ending at 8:51 PM PDT when the Moon enters Virgo–until then, we should expect the unexpected–now that’s helpful, isn’t it?  🙂

Around here, that seems to mean almost no trick-or-treaters and quiet, lots of quiet. Once the Moon enters Virgo it becomes a different ball game, as they say–and I’m not sure how ready we are for the change-up. There’s more on tomorrow at the NEW page for Fall ECLIPSE readers–I’ll post again tomorrow

Arghh! Now we’re having trouble getting the mag into a Pdf–guess I should’ve been a pirate for Halloween! Enjoy your evening!

The End of October 2010: Evaluating How Much is Too Much

Tags

, , ,

The Sun’s weekend sesquiquadrate to Jupiter has got me thinking: how much is too much? I think wherever and whatever the transiting Sun is touching in your natal chart is the arena where you’ll be examining this question. With a Leo Moon we will be in the mood to look at how things stand and how much of a drain on our essence they are. Juno sextiles Vesta, making it easy to measure empowerment v. what’s truly important, what we dedicate our lives to, and with Mars moving toward conjunction with Pallas, we’re open to the wise move (or at least, this weekend, to planning for it). Saturn is close enough to h. Zeus that we can subdue our basest desires and tone down our ambitions and this means we don’t have any problem keeping what’s truly in our best interests in the forefront as we make choices and, I hope, have a little fun.

Have you seen the commercial with the baby in the walker speeding along to the Melanie song, ‘Brand New Key’? I totally enjoy both the baby and the song, a particular favorite from my youth. It tells a story, but it’s arguable what that story is; the ‘I’ of the song is certainly independent, but is she a little loopy? “I ride my bike, I roller skate, don’t drive no car/ don’t go too fast but I go pretty far”According to Wikipedia and other sources, Melanie was born February 3, 1947 in Astoria, New York. Unfortunately we don’t have a time, but we can look at the planets, and extrapolate, since Melanie herself wrote the song–and the independent, free-wheeling (ha!) vibe of the song is a perfect expression of her four Aquarius (Mars/ Pallas/ Sun/ Mercury) and her three Sag placements (South Node, Juno, Venus) showing independence and the ‘go’ urge. But then I wonder: is she a bit stalker-ish, or is she just expressing herself? “I asked your mother if you were at home/ she said yes, but you weren’t alone/ oh, sometimes I think that you’re avoiding me/ I’m okay alone but you’ve got something I need” If one person’s actually avoiding another, they usually either feel threatened or don’t want to deal with the other person’s crazy. Melanie’s Saturn is over in Leo, opposed the Sun and Mars– pride might keep this person from going all fan-boy on someone–but there’s also opposition to that Sun from three more Leo placements: h. Zeus, Earth, and Pluto. Hmm. Depth, intensity, passion, and the material–so Melanie can certainly put herself into the place held by the persona of the song, and imagine a girl obsessed with someone. With her Cancer Moon, Melanie is an empathizer–and her ability to see such a specific viewpoint, along with her musical talent (Sun trine Neptune) gave us this charming song.

The new ECLIPSE should be available at some point this weekend, and offers articles on Venus and likeability, Jupiter and the social urge, the Earth Houses in the natal chart and the way we ‘ground’ ourselves, and features a great article on the US natal chart and the ‘then is now’ echo of history by the great political astrologer Jude Cowell; plus a fantastic, exclusive three-month forecast by Karen of Ravenesque! Includes access to a private page here at the blog that will contain an ongoing forecast from me, and charts, articles, and discussion. I’m centralizing forecast materials that used to be scattered between the magazine and this blog–you all know about the recent theft dramas–and I am by no means the only astrologer to suffer these–I know I’m disappointing some, but I had to decide how much is too much, for my own peace of mind. From now on most posts will be something like the paragraphs above–short and, I hope, sweet.

Have a great one!

26 October 2010: Pairing Off

Right now it’s all about pairs (or groups) of energies that are working together, putting a special blend of their unique qualities out there–and that’s confusing, as we think we know what we’re dealing with, only to find some freakish and unexpected qualities popping out of any situation. The Sun in Scorpio and the Moon in Gemini means we are trying to think in what’s essentially an emotional environment–a keeping head above water position–much of what we’re facing has been covered in ECLIPSE, but I want to point out the pairings and what we might feel from them.

Those Pluto/ Ceres changes (already discussed in ECLIPSE) we’re in the midst of are accompanied by these odd mixes–so it’s a change vibe that is going to vibe to either the emotions or the mind, and possibly both. See the rest on the private page here, especially for ECLIPSE readers. Thanks!
