Finger of God, Moon in Aries, My Daily Astrology Diary

'The Birth of Venus' Cabanel 1863 {{PD-Art}}

While we’re waiting around for those all-powerful Directions of Venus and Jupiter, let’s take a look at what lovely Venus is trying to tell us. She acts right now as the apex of a Finger of God, with base of Uranus sextile Earth (and, by the 6 PM PST hour of the 18th, a stationary Venus receives the opposing light of the Aries Moon, adding emotional revelation and resistance to the picture). The config suggests that, no matter what preceded it, the end of the Venus retro brings shocking, surprising, or just plain unusual material/ physical results. This outcome may be centered in the matters Venus has resurrected from 8 years ago, or may combine the matters of the Houses where Earth and Uranus are situated currently in the natal chart–in any case, the typical channeling of the sextile out through the apex occurs, but is then reversed with Venus’ station–and we can expect that the biggest jolt, shock, or moment of understanding is presented in terms of our values, relationships, or earning capacity/ assets and the way these alter the material reality, physical circumstances, and/ or have an intellectual or group-focused impact. We likely get our first taste of the true meaning of this with the Moon’s opposition to Venus, which introduces us to the way we feel about what’s going on, offers intuitive understanding of developments, and may bring temper or Willfulness to the fore (Aries). The brief Void that follows opposition unleashes a bit of chaos, which is fully implemented with Venus’ Direct motion. Of course, all this may be internal (or, if the 12th is involved, or either apex or all or part of the sextile sits below the horizon for you), some or all of the effect may be unconscious, and so perhaps not recognized as the change or conclusion that it is until well after the fact.

ECLIPSE magazine, Finger of God, Grand Cross, Grand Square, Juno, Moon in Taurus, My Daily Astrology Diary, My Weekend Astro Diary, the Magazine

There’s a wonderful Grand Square formed (and while we consider this as a square, Pluto is also in the mix), soon to also be a Cross, involving the Nodes, Saturn/Sun, and Earth. Why wonderful? I’m not quite sure; it’s got a charged-up electric energy, seated in the Sun in a Venus-ruled sign, Saturn in its exaltation, the Earth in dynamic, kick-ass Aries, and the Nodes in Cardinal (action) energies of caring and structure–it just sounds like a recipe for transformation of circumstances (Pluto) and materialization of what’s both expressive of our Soul intents (Sun), needed for the Soul’s expression materially (Earth), and designed to move us along in our destined direction (the Nodes). A major config that presents major opportunity–and today holds a specific positive time period for another significant configuration–see ECLIPSE for details–I abhor saying it over and over, but if you do come here often to follow the Lunar forecast picture, you really could use the forecast section of the magazine–’nuff said 🙂

The lovely Taurus Moon goes on to quincunx Zeus around 1 PM PDT, challenging the emotions to accomodate the ambitions–somehow they rub each other the wrong way. The Lunar picture moves toward the physical, toward the material, the artisanal, through the rest of the day and into evening Pacific time–then around 2 AM PDT of the 27th, the Moon trines Mercury in Earth. The messages are centered on material circumstances, even when they appear to be otherwise; it’s a situation of reverse-symbolism, where talk about priciples and values is really representative of the asset situation–very ‘Taurus as concerned with who has what.’

8 AM PDT on the 27th brings the Moon conjunct Sedna–uh-oh, all those material things we were just talking about are just not discernible–it’s almost like we’ve spent time sorting through who has what only to find that everybody’s stuff seems to have disappeared! It’s only a temporary vanishing act, which is meant to turn our attention elsewhere for awhile.

A quincunx to Vesta noonish PDT means we get our sense of values back not just intact but heightened–after this little interlude we know what really counts. By 2 PM the Moon is in place as the apex of a Finger of God with base of Vesta/ Ceres; this implies that the emotions and/ or intuition (or possibly the matters of the House where the transiting Moon falls in the natal chart) will serve as outlet for a negotiation over the most important values and life elements (home in all senses, and the most intimately connected relationships)–the goal is to find what’s ‘natural’–and once the balance is reached a rush of emotional perception, intuitive knowing, and/ or other revelation about how to proceed will occur.

Many thanks to all who’ve bought JUNO IN THE NATAL CHART–I’d love to hear your thoughts, positive or negative or anywhere in between, and so would those who are considering the book–please share! And for everyone else, see what’s in the book here http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com  For those still in need of detailed forecast information, get ECLIPSE http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/

ECLIPSE magazine, Finger of God, Moon in Gemini, My Daily Astrology Diary

It’s 10 AM-ish Pacific time before anything shakes loose on the Lunar front–and then, look out. The Moon is almost through Taurus; she sidles up to Neptune by square and disorients us, at the very least–some will be completely deceived in attempts to understand (Neptune in Aquarius) and intuit the best position on material matters (Moon in Taurus). In any case there’s likely to be a degree of confusion, and if you’re at the mercy of others in some way (depending on them for information, or a scheduled meeting, or delivery on a promise, for instance) if what’s expected doesn’t materialize immediately, or seems hinky in some way, you need to realize right away that you’re not going to get what you thought you would. It’s a matter of other interests taking priority for those with whom you deal–and if you know this at the outset you’ll be able to prepare and not be left in a bind when they don’t come through.

Noon Pacific and the Moon squares Chiron–and of course we’re susceptible to seeing ourselves as the victim, likely springing from the previous Neptunian disappointment–but this is really a test of our maturity, and our emotional flexibility (otherwise known as ‘good mental health’). Choosing not to view oneself as a victim opens the way for application of our most unique skills (Chiron) to the deficit or problem not being able to rely on others has created. We are able, very shortly (by 4 PM or so Pacific) to find a unique and innovative approach to solving our dilemma–this can be an opportunity that can be very fulfilling as we apply ourselves and rise to the challenge (Moon sextile Uranus).

Void begins at 4:13 PM PDT and puts a big ‘Caution’ sign on our efforts; be aware that anything instituted after the Moon enters the Void will not go as planned–or will run out of gas before it even launches. The Moon enters Gemini at 5:19 PM PDT, ushering in a desire to socialize and communicate, and possibly bringing some serious frustration, as Merc retro misspeaks, shoves feet in mouths, and just generally miscommunicates; feeling misunderstood (or perhaps unheard) becomes the order of the transit, and no one escapes without at least a few crossed wires.

The first thing our wench-of-a-Moon does (right after her immediate sextile to Arian Jupiter, 5:30 PM, where she puffs herself up with a ‘can do, I want’ spirit) is run out and quincunx Pluto (9 PM-ish)–and at this time the Vertex is precisely quincunx the lord of the Underworld (I almost typed ‘Underwear’!) as well, forming a Finger of God that suggests the emotions and certain matters of Fate (of being in such a state in a specific time and place) converge and create a blast of energy that can be channeled into transformation or destruction, in the matters of the House in the natal chart Pluto is currently transiting–your choice.

Just before 1 AM Pacific on September 1st, the Gemini Moon trines Saturn in Libra, creating an excellent, temporary flow of communication in partnership/ relationship–and leading us almost like lambs to the slaughter;  we don’t suspect the punch of what’s coming as we gab away and congratulate ourselves on what great human connections we enjoy. September 2nd is one of the ‘big’ days for this period, in my opinion–see more on this here http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/ Thank You, and have a great day!

PS ECLIPSE readers, watch for a brief post tomorrow to let you know when I add more material to the private page!

30 August 2010: Acting on Instinct

ECLIPSE magazine, Finger of God, Moon in Taurus, My Daily Astrology Diary, the Magazine

The 3 AM hour PDT brings the Taurus Moon into quincunx with Vesta and trine with the North Node; we may feel we are sailing along in our planned direction quite successfully, but our most sacred values are in some degree of conflict with our current choices, especially our material (Taurus) or emotional or intuitive ones (the Moon)–this, of course, causes us some need to adjust or re-evaluate where we’re headed. By 7 AM the Moon quincunxes Zeus–what a way to start the day for West Coasters, with first a challenge from our own values and then what amounts to a dare featuring our own ambitions or desires! The pattern here is one that asks us to question whether what we’re currently rushing toward is really in keeping with our deepest and most important values–are our choices honoring these, or has the ease with which we’re moving forward convinced us that it wouldn’t be so easy if it wasn’t right?

11 AM PDT and the Taurus Moon trines retro Mercury, bringing an odd kind of eloquence and an almost dangerous surety in our own reasoning–not the thing to have confidence in at this time! Access feeling and the physical senses to help ground yourself, and leave the thinking for another time, as we’re sure to miss something, and make a poor decision, pronouncement, or choice. At the same time, the Moon squares Juno–if we wondered where our false bravado was coming from, now we know! Even though our emotional perceptions tell us not to, with this aspect we push for signs that we are personally powerful–a poor move at this point.

3 PM-ish the Moon opposes Pallas, and we are confronted with, either from without or within, the wise path–and how we may have been failing to follow it. Our response, our willingness to be honest with ourselves about ourselves, will be what makes the difference between those who take the information with a measure of thankfulness and those who end up believing there’ve been no flaws in their choices, after all.

By 10:30 PM PDT the Moon moves to quincunx Mars, and by 11:30 is in place as the apex of a Finger of God with base of Mars sextile Ceres. This effectively offers us guidance for how to deal with the day’s contradictory input through feelings/ intuition, and that these solutions will present themselves when we access our instincts (Ceres) and act on these (Mars). It’s almost a ‘Chicken Before the Egg’ situation, where we must act using our instinctual connection to nature before we can understand why (symbolized by the Moon’s contact to Mars before it forms the Finger).

2 AM of the 31st, the Moon contacts Sedna while perfecting the quincunx to Ceres. This suggests that, after we have acted in an attempt to resolve our feelings by acting instinctively, we may try to sense further ‘natural’ information, which we’ll be unable to grasp (Sedna)– this ends a day that can be very stressful, but which is best approached with a flexible attitude, and a reliance on the feeling nature–it’s important we remember how unreliable communications, and our own mental processes, may be at this time (Merc retro). By 4 AM PDT the Moon quincunxes Venus, and some may feel they’ve been treading water and getting nowhere, as relationships don’t seem to have benefited at all by the events of the past 24 hours; it feels like it’s just one damn thing after another. For others it will be finances that present problems, or maybe it’s just a sense of being unsure of love, assets, or your own Self-worth. Don’t let the energy work you–it’s not only fleeting but asks only that you consider adjustments, not necessarily make them.

Finger of God, Moon in Pisces, My Daily Astrology Diary

The Moon begins the 25th Pacific time still within the first decan (10 degrees) of Pisces; she’s fresh from her tryst with the Earth, emotion and spirit drawing her attention. By 3 AM-ish PDT the Moon trines the South Node, and the past, along with possible regrets, seem vital–it’s as if no time has passed between the experience and the present moment–but that’s a trick of the feeling nature, with everything rushing back in great detail, especially visually (Pisces). We can make this work for us (or at least climb out of what seems an enchantment) by focusing on the future (sextile to the North Node). While still contacting the Nodes the Moon comes into range of a quincunx to Juno, and this offers a second, more reliable way out, as we can use our recollections as impetus to Self-empowerment, likely in the name of ‘I’ll never let that happen again!’ An interesting, though possibly exhausting, way to start the day.

By 5 AM PDT the Moon has become the apex of a Finger of God, with a base of Juno and Zeus. We felt that jolt of empowerment, vowed to make the emotional energy an asset, and now we receive another challenge, that may go one of two ways: we may find desires or ambitions fueling what amounts to an emotional rocket, where empowerment urges become almost megalomaniacal–we want it now! whatever it is, and become hell-bent, totally irrational, in going after it–or we find desires and ambition helping to hone the senses, the emotional palette, and the creative energies to a fine point, and this acts to mobilize the emotions and the intuitive nature to guide us toward our goals like a stealth aircraft, quiet, controllled, and flying without being picked up on others’ radar. This can set off a longer period of major leaps forward, if we play it right.

By 2:30 the Moon trines Pallas and we’re feeling pretty smart, and by 3:30 PM the Pisces Moon quincunxes Mars and opposes retro Mercury, forcing us to adjust to either our own egos or the egos of others, as demands appear they must be addressed (they don’t–that’s the ‘I am’ insisting on its own way)–they worst part is we may end up eating our own words, or we may find that we just can’t rely on what others tell us, or there’s a crucial mix-up in communication; we don’t end up feeling nearly as smart as we thought we were. If we know of it ahead of time we can recognize it when it happens–and dodge a bullet or two.

Just after 7 PM Pacific we see the Moon quincunx Venus–and if our relationships have remained unscathed up to now they won’t stay that way for long. It’s likely that interaction demands a little too much of us–and all we want is to relax, escape, or commune in a way that’s commercial-ideal, with music and pretty ladies twirling in meadows and puppies chasing rolls of toilet paper and clinking glasses in a happy toast and so on. At this point we might want to ask ourselves just how silly and unrealistic are our expectations–but at the same time we may have good reason to resist the iron fist in the velvet glove as Venus in Libra wants to do everything in tandem, ad nauseum. Nobody’s likely to be in a reasonable frame of mind, whether you’re the one with relationship demands or the escapee–just remember all that as you break into the liquor cabinet or insist your SO sit right here beside you and talk about ‘us’!

About 1 AM PDT on the 26th the Moon squares Ceres–and we thought the evening was already ruined–silly us! This may bring an emotional showdown over power, territory, control, and dominion. The best solution is either to be sound asleep, or remember the Collective good, rather than focusing on personal power issues–it’s not easy but the Pisces Moon does allow us to tune in to the cosmos, to re-balance and re-align, if we’ll only set aside our individual perspective for a little while.

See more on what’s to come here http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/ and Thanks!

ECLIPSE magazine, Finger of God, Moon in Pisces, My Daily Astrology Diary, the Magazine

Though with a Pisces Moon encouraging a mellow (what a ’70s word!) creative atmosphere (and with this peaking at 3-5 PM PDT as the Moon trines Pallas in Water), we might wonder at those energies making a low-level but persistent irritation for us; they may harsh our buzz, if you’ll pardon the hippie-talk, without us understanding exactly why–the discord is seemingly contained in a handful of aspects that we’ll review here.

First, the Mars/ Chiron quincunx at 29 degrees of their respective signs=it’s a feeling of Earth emergency v. Air emergency as the two energies vie for attention. The doing energy of Mars calls us to remedy the material/ physical situation, but we are thinking we’re wounded, or that this is a situation we must heal, rather than change with action. It’s a matter of perspective; the Saturn/ Uranus opposition plays on this, with this long-term energy of stasis v. radical change being hit by transiting Mercury–with Merc’s quincunx to Uranus causing spontaneous, quirky, and unnecessarily radical and rebellious thoughts–great for invention, innovation, and the creative ‘lift,’ and bad for everything else, as it inserts a level of excitement that may be interpreted by our brains as fear.

There’s also the quincunx between Juno and Neptune, offering creative empowerment if we’ll take the energy in hand and acknowledge Self-responsibility (both for what we created and what we make of what’s handed to us). This all, Juno, Neptune, Chiron, Mars, makes a loose Finger of God that suggests if we take advantage of (and responsibility for) the energies we can make something that is greater than the sum of its parts. Not a bad promise at all.

Mars/ Saturn (solid action, or suppression) opposes Uranus/ Jupiter (bursts of innovative energy, or exaggerated instability) and all squared by Pluto, suggesting we can destroy or transform using this impetus–it’s not over yet.

On the radar: by tomorrow Venus squares Ceres; expect something along these lines: values, finances, or relationships are challenged by authorities or the maternal force; or one’s aesthetics are dissed by Mom; or two ladies clash, and it’s obvious they have different asset-sets (and so different priorities/ weaknesses/ strengths) which likely stir jealousy and a competitive desire to ‘win’ on both sides. This is an energy that can seem to jump out of nowhere (especially when we feel very ‘together’ and so think we’re invulnerable to this kind of emotion and tender-ego response!)

Finger of God, Moon in Sagittarius, My Daily Astrology Diary

The Sun sextile Saturn forms the base to a Finger of God with apex Neptune, and here’s the thing: this could be pointing the way for today, if we can organize ourselves and envision solid goals. Neptune in Aquarius will receive the energy, taking it to a level that is imbued with ideals and creativity, and a high degree of ability to conceptualize–but only if we can turn our attention completely in the direction of the productive (Saturn). But we can’t ignore Chiron; it’s there, conjunct Neptune, acting as its own potential, separate outlet for the Sun/ Saturn co-operation, and this could come forward as a call to bring the Chirotic skills out to play. If we can combine both Neptune and Chiron, we can enjoy a tremendously effective and energetically ‘charged’ opportunity to further our material and real-life agendas. A scant few will be distracted by the Chiron wound–and if that’s you, it’s an indication that you need to address the place that the primal hurt holds in your consciousness. It suggests you are so focused on ‘living the hurt’ that you may miss opportunities to seriously improve things for yourself.

Juno sextiles Mars, each 5 degrees from one of the base bodies (Mars to Saturn, Juno to Sun), offering a kind of shadow effect, with empowerment efforts and action combining to support the Neptune/ Chiron positive expression (or to act out the Chirotic wound, this latter likely in a Neptunian way that involves avoiding reality, somehow).

Meanwhile the Sagittarius Moon takes all day to work its way to a square to Venus, sextile to Zeus, and quincunx to the South Node, 3 PM-ish PDT. We may be cruising along until this forms, then POW! our freewheelin’ ways run up against unexpected and relatively unpleasant relationship or financial issues, and they’re likely repeats from the past–so that our protestations about what a surprise they are don’t really hold up–we could’ve seen it coming, if we’d only been able to acknowledge that the issues weren’t resolved.

By 8 AM PDT of the 22nd the Moon conjuncts Ceres, squares Vesta, and soon thereafter trines Mercury and quincunxes Sedna. This unites the emotional Self with a sense of authority and a strong conscious connection to nature, but this may challenge what we honor, or may disrupt the home or sex life, and this all gets communicated, perhaps without our realizing it. It’s a slippery, weird emotional slope where we only want to follow natural inclinations that make us feel strong, and the next thing we know we’ve stepped on a variety of toes. No way around it, just stay as conscious as possible, and perhaps refrain from volunteering info we don’t really need to share.

And have a great day! Very shortly we’ll have a new issue of ECLIPSE and the new book on Juno–watch for details!

Finger of God, Moon in Scorpio, My Daily Astrology Diary

Everything today seems to be a call to know our own power; since the early morning inventory-taking, we find we are faced repeatedly with assessing our strength and effectiveness in the world. The Moon enters Scorpio at 10:41 AM PDT, and issues surrounding our own ability to make an impact on our surroundings, particularly in the area with Scorpio on the cusp natally, come front and center.

Of course we are still grappling with the Cardinal T of Jupiter/ Uranus, opposed Saturn, all square Pluto, with our ability to do and change on a personal level foremost, and this energy pulls our attention (almost obsessively) toward the ways in which we have (or haven’t) been showing our unique abilities. Some disappointment is almost guaranteed, as these are demanding energies that will see anything less than big success as not good enough. The taskmaster nun that is the Universe seems to be whacking our knuckles with a ruler, and we rather stupidly feel we deserve it–the Scorpio Moon and her trine to Chiron raises possibilities of nebulous guilt that are just looking for something in our real life to latch on to–and the harsh judgment we are sensing in the T energies too are bent on finding a home in our tender psyches.

Trying to refute this kind of assault head-on is not a good idea–instead we have to find other formidable energies that bolster other parts of the psyche and senses, and then we must adopt that viewpoint as our own. I nominate a Finger of God with Juno/ Sedna base, apex Ceres. We won’t see it, but it’s there; personal empowerment is ours, we just have to assume we’ve got it, and proceed from that point. Channeling this power (a power that comes from caring, from a willingness to offer nurture and affection-Cancer placement Juno) into its most natural form of authority and expression (for instance, in any relationship or role where we are the person in charge, the caretaker, where it is our job to teach, inform, inspire faith, or get the word out-Sagittarius placement Ceres). What we can’t see (Sedna) will be what serves to make our lives stable and comfortable, what grounds us (Taurus placement Sedna), and normally that might mean our own choices and actions could threaten us–but here we have the guidance of caring (Cancer) and our own active knowledge and belief (Sag) to guide us. Peak time when we might actually, inadvertently destroy something: 3-6 PM PDT as the Moon sextiles Pluto.

Finger of God, My Daily Astrology Diary

As I looked at the dynamic chart for the 15th, what struck me was a kind of pattern that moved forward, and I realized that it centered on four placements at 22 degrees: the Sun/ Earth axis, Sedna, and Ceres. I thought maybe I should treat it as a special, unique configuration, as I would an eclipse–so I’m taking a strict two degree orb as measured from 22, and we’ll see what comes up.

First, the involved elements: the Sun is in Water, while Earth and Sedna are in Earth, and Ceres is in Fire. With our two degree rule we have only two other facets, Mars in Earth and Juno, conjunct the Sun. That gives us a preponderance of Earth, and suggests material effects, a physical arena and focus to tomorrow’s events, with the influence very emotional/ intuitive, and possibly prompting action. The Sun sits at the midpoint of the trine between Sedna and Mars, implying illumination of action and ego, and naturally that means that Earth is trine Mars and Sedna in a Grand Trine– again, the idea of material activity, but we mustn’t ignore Sedna; its influence is one of masking, and that suggests that the entire dynamic, the emotional side of the materially focused action, is really unknowable.

How can something unknowable be illuminated? Chiefly through watching the effect it has on everything else. Like a camera obscura, what we will see is quite real–we just won’t be observing it directly. We must watch for shadows thrown, breezes caused, a feeling of warmth or cold–and extrapolate from there as to what may be causing it.

It’s an awkward scenario, but we can’t forget about Ceres–she sits at 22 Sag, quincunx the Sun and Juno, and quincunx Sedna–and that makes her the apex for a Finger of God. Resolution of the Sun/ Juno in Cancer (the identity seeks empowerment) is found through the symbolic manifestation of Sedna energy, in letting go of both the identity and the need to specifically empower the Self. When the ‘letting go’ is successful, the energy funnels out through a sense of natural authority, in a connection that is at-One with nature itself, that allows us to negotiate anything.  Mars squares Ceres, implying that the conflict between our action urge and our Ceres sensibilities can be worked out, once the action and ego urges are sublimated to the Finger of God, with its ultimate outcome a re-connection with our innate sense of authority, and place within the natural order. It’s a matter of letting go, and gaining all the world and our place in it.

Finger of God, Moon in Cancer, Moon in Leo, My Daily Astrology Diary

The Moon forms a Finger of God, 2:30 AM PDT on the 12th, with a sextile to Saturn at 29 degrees and apex Neptune. This suggest something of a crisis with reality, ‘what is,’ and perhaps with rules and boundaries, but this is the moment when it is all easily resolved, by really feeling the Moon in Cancer, by placing no restirictions on what is allowed to be experienced, by not censoring the emotional palette–and then by letting it all go for a while, as the Moon enters the Void briefly, at 4:49 AM PDT.

The Moon enters Leo at 5:53 AM PDT, and immediately trines Uranus and quincunxes Chiron, bringing unique, individual skills to the fore–you may find you have the energy and courage to pursue ambitions, to go after what you really want–you may feel more clear on your goals than you have for some time. By 8 AM, though, the Moon has formed another Fingor of God, this time acting as the apex to the Chiron/ Pluto sextile. I see the Moon in this instance almost drawing from the earlier contact to Chiron and bringing that energy to contact with Pluto–and that this presents an awareness of a hurt that we are able to transform by allowing ourselves to feel and see the matter from the viewpoint of our own needs and wants (Moon in Leo). Putting ourselves central to the issue puts things in the correct perspective.

By 10:30 AM PDT the Moon moves on to trine Jupiter and perfect the quincunx with Pluto. We are in tune with the social flow, but may find that we understand social issues too well–they irritate, they spur us to change or transform–the productive among us will change something about ourselves or our attitudes, while those less conscious will think in terms of ‘society should ‘x!” An illuminating interlude, that can clue us into the possibility that we’re carrying a too-insular or too-righteous viewpoint.

Mid-afternoon PDT the Moon squares Pallas and then conjuncts Mercury, and we may find we’re speaking our minds against our better judgment! It’s a time where the wise thing just doesn’t seem as important as being heard–just take care that in speaking up you don’t speak for others–make all your statements start with “I”

By 11:30 PM PDT the Leo Moon quincunxes the Capricorn North Node and sextiles Zeus, and we may be really connecting with the way we feel about our ambitions and wants, and how well we’re moving in that direction–a good time to resolve skills and feelings, and how well we’re handling each.
