‘Four Loves I found, a Woman, a Child, a Horse and a Hound’
George Spencer Watson 1922 {{PD}}

The AstroEssence for the 20th: we may suffer an odd combination of influences that could easily steer us wrong: one concerns how thoughts are focused on what isn’t happening/ working in fulfillment of ambitions and wants; the other is a rejection of what we know to be wise, smart, practical, or that involves a refusal to use our already-learned skills, and this rejection/ refusal is seated in some aspect of our current identity or Self-image. Together the two tracks converge so that we may make some poor or mistaken choices out of frustration or a wish not to acknowledge who, exactly, we are. If hiding in a closet or some sunless hole isn’t possible (and who wants to do that, anyway?) our best bet may be conscious Self-acceptance (no matter how that may make us cringe over denied character traits or experience), along with a vow to let go of judgement, a tendency that comes far too easily with Mercury’s transit of Virgo (Merc semi-sq Black Moon Lilith, Sun opp Pallas)

All in white, she looks like she knows a thing or two. Alfredo Andersen - 'Retrato de Guigui' {{PD}}

All in white, she looks like she knows a thing or two. Alfredo Andersen – ‘Retrato de Guigui’ {{PD}}

Today’s word image is the color white (technically all color!) I realized this as, in asking myself what the word image is, I saw a series of white animals, birds, and objects, and then realized that at least the past two images had been white things, too (a stork and an egg), at least as they were envisioned. We may have personal associations with the color, or cultural ones; some see white as indicating purity, fidelity, or innocence, while some link it to death, or to sacrifice, or to sterility, coldness, or authority (as in the wearing of a white coat to signify status in a health setting, for instance)–and of course your own preferences and experiences will figure in to the meaning of white for you, whether it’s the ideas attached to the color, or whether it points out something that is that color and offers further meaning. At the very least, use it as a marker of synchronicity or of being ‘in the flow’ when you observe it.

For those born with the Sun at 28 Leo: you may spend a good part of your year, Leo, through to your next birthday adjusting to new emotional circumstances or truths–and these changes can’t help but affect who you are, causing a drawn out period of modification and accommodation that is especially personal. You have a good sense of what’s smart, what’s practical, right now, and should use it as you go forward, as little else will offer guidance, and you could feel lost if you don’t embrace and accept your current reality. Good luck, Leo, and Happy Birthday!

Pieter Bruegel the Elder - 'The Tower of Babel' 1563 {{PD}}

Pieter Bruegel the Elder – ‘The Tower of Babel’ 1563 {{PD}}

The AstroEssence for the 21st: It’s a terrible thing when our reasoning and our social role both fall into our blind spot, leaving neither our own minds nor our usual patterns and responsibilities as reliable guides. Relationships don’t help, either, as we’re in the midst of greater or lesser power struggles that permeate even the most benign exchanges. What we can do is use sensitivities not related to the mind (intuition, feeling, those 6th, 7th, and 8th senses! etc); these will bring invaluable info as long as we acknowledge our own power wants and those territories we wish to claim as our own–if we don’t admit what we want, the feeling nature will lead us astray. Compounding perceptual difficulties is the way facts just won’t speak of realities, at this time–be prepared for that (Mercury and Jupiter trine Sedna, though Merc and Jup don’t perfect their conjunction until theĀ 22nd, Venus sesq Ceres)

Still Life with Fish by William Merritt Chase, c. 1910 {{PD}}

Still Life with Fish by William Merritt Chase, c. 1910 {{PD}}

Today’s word image is a fish ready to be filleted. What does that bring to mind? Anticipation of a good dining experience? Revulsion at eating something with a face? The fish is a symbol of Christianity; to fillet it may be to ‘take the backbone’ out of a religious viewpoint. If you’re an astrologer you may think of Pisces, and wonder what it means if only one of the symbol pair is gutted. A fish was one of Vishnu’s incarnations, again suggesting a connection to divinity. We could go on and on, since the fish carries so much symbolism. This one, though, has been ‘fished for’, ‘caught’, and is now being ‘prepared’–is there anything like that in your life, that may need to be seen for what it really is?

For those born with the Sun at 29 Leo: though it may not seem like it, eventually emotions catch up with the rest of you, and internal harmony is restored; you’ll likely take action repeatedly until you feel balanced. You think big and use discernment; make sure it doesn’t devolve into petty criticism and over-concern with detail. The creative may become an outlet for feelings and perceptions ignored or denied–that can be very good, if you know how to shape and direct those energies, or very bad, if they end up deceiving you or others. Good luck, Leo, and Happy Birthday!

Your Weekend 13-14 August 2016 Sunrise With Sea Monsters

The monster in this case may be our avoidance of responsibility for our own situation. Odilon Redon {{PD}}

The monster in this case may be our avoidance of responsibility for our own situation. Odilon Redon {{PD}}

The AstroEssence for the 13th: Though there is a broad theme of the individual v. the social order, when we squint (a modest ‘correction’ to our perceptions) we find that the struggle is actually a mental one within our own minds. The heart of it is our attitude toward authority in general, and the quirks and resistance we impose on current power relationships that echoes unresolved issues with those at one time in charge of us, particularly Mom. There are a few things we can be sure of, and which can act as rough guides to our choices: being hurt over what we’ve chosen to ignore or deny is, besides being nonsensical, just Self-defeating; being erratic or unreliable creates losses; ‘thinking big’ may help us overcome limitations; and if we experience a dust-up with authorities (or those who see themselves this way), we should examine the situation for the possibility we’ve projected our inner struggle, superimposing it on an interaction or relationship–the ‘blame game’ won’t do any good, and may keep us from resolving our inner quandary, which will only invite more discord and foster further power struggles until claimed and resolved (Chiron sesq Black Moon Lilith, Jup qnx Uranus, Mars qnx Ceres, Venus sesq Uranus and sq Saturn, Merc parallel Jupiter)

Saturn goes direct and just as it does, Venus completes a square to it; the sense may be that we are just now seeing what stands in the way of Love, happiness, Money, or values realization. The direction and Venus contact brings a dawning, and the temptation may be to become hyper-critical (Venus in Virgo) of what we desire, or bitter toward those who stand in our way; we’d be better served questioning how much of what we think has really just been accepted wholesale from the social circle. Important to note: the upcoming square of Saturn to Neptune promises that these difficulties with Venusian subjects pave the way for effective (though not necessarily easy) realization or materialization of a dream, ideal, or spiritual goal (Neptune).

Today’s word image is a penguin. What does this bring to mind? A ‘scheme’ in black and white (suggesting an odd combination of extremes)? Some kind of cartoon stereotype anthropomorphizing them? ‘March of the Penguins’ (sad alert!)? The ‘Batman’ villain (and then, is he the natty Burgess Meredith version, or the slimy Danny DeVito version)? It’s likely most of us have only seen these animals in zoos–which effectively makes them a kind of unicorn, something we experience only in an artificial (zoo) and rarefied (in their home in the Antarctic region) environment, so something that may feel in some essential way unreal. Unless you are a zoologist specializing in order Sphenisciformes, family Spheniscidae, you probably hold some unrealistic, quaint, or fanciful ideas about penguins; look around for that thing in your life it feels you are familiar with, that it seems you know so much about, and question your assumptions and the image you impose, under the principle it’s better to know what something really is, than to carry and respond to the illusions in your head.

For those born with the Sun at 21 Leo: Emotional harmony and continuity will be strong this year, with actions easily in concert with aims, and ‘knowing’ through the feeling nature almost a given. By late in the year, nearer to your next birthday, though, you may be seriously hurt, forced to access inner wisdom or to take a practical approach in order to deal with the wound–but it all leads to a wiser, more mature You. Good luck, Leo, and Happy Birthday!

The AstroEssence for the 14th: Here we see that ideas concerning Venusian matters are dealt with and the new understanding applied to the dream, in preparation for the material manifestation or spiritual realization promised at the perfection of the Saturn-Neptune square (see The Saturn Direction under the 13th). We find the most profitable and beneficial concepts connected to our own uniqueness and originality, and likely will experience these ideas as personally empowering, though they may stir up trouble with authorities or even Mother Nature–just know it probably can’t be helped, as our ‘mental contrariness’ somehow shines through (Venus parallel Uranus and opp Neptune, Merc contra-parallel Juno and sesq Ceres)

327px-Alice_drink_meToday’s word image is a bottle marked ‘Drink Me’ (shades of Alice in Wonderland!) What’s in the bottle? Your poison, whatever that may be in life. Your job is to either say ‘No’ to it (a true rejection that captures no part of the spirit, as occurs when one resists, rather than feels indifferent or willingly lets go), or to consume it and through your own power and purity transform it, making it harmless. You know the best choice for you–do one or the other, and don’t knock the bottle off the table, thinking that breaking it removes the temptation–you wouldn’t be the first to take desperate measures to try to rescue what’s all wrong for you.

For those born with the Sun at 22 Leo: Fate has something difficult in store for you, but it will only seem like a problem while you’re waiting for your thinking to catch up with developments; after that, you experience a year of practical advances and the building of profitable circumstances. Good luck, Leo, and Happy Birthday!

I’m sorry to say I won’t be doing individual eclipse reports for the September events. Thank you to everyone who inquired–I very much appreciate your interest, and do plan on offering eclipse reports in future. I will be publishing general readings for both the Solar and Lunar eclipses of September here on the blog soon, so keep an eye out for that! In the meantime, read! And if you’re a frequent flyer here, please consider donating to support my work here on the blog, or writing a wee review of my books once you’ve read them at Good Reads. Thanks!

“Kids order sno-balls, the New Orleans, Louisiana, version of what others call sno-cone flavored ices” Photo by Carol M. Highsmith via the Library of Congress–no known restrictions

The AstroEssence for Saturday may involve a peculiar sort of instinctive, reflexive action and thought that may bring erraticism to new heights and conflict to relationships–and though we know what we do flies in the face of our internal wisdom, we find ambitions and desires intrude and inspire acting out against the current situation. We act, do, and think in spite of ourselves–and it’s this internal distance, this awareness, that allows us to prevent disaster by focusing on our highest values and those things we know we want to protect and preserve. Measure everything you want to do against your standards and priorities–if it passes muster, go ahead (Perfecting today: T-sq Venus opp Pallas both sq Mars, Venus semi-sq Zeus, Mercury parallel Sedna, sq Saturn, and sesq Uranus, Sun nov Vesta)

Today’s word image is a sno-cone. For me this brings to mind a childhood treat, something eaten in only the hottest weather. Is there something you enjoy that you deny yourself, demanding conditions be ‘just so’ before you can have or do it?

For those born with the Sun at 15 Leo: (Please note: the Sun enters this degree evening of the 6th Pacific time; that means if your birthday is today on the calendar, you may actually want to check your chart so you know whether to read the year ahead for today, tomorrow, or yesterday.) Your world (or should I say your ‘reality picture’?) is changing in major ways, like it or not, and it’s up to you to take advantage of those ways in which you can have your say and affect the outcome. This may require that you are willing to go over old territory, things you already thought were settled, and re-hash matters, especially those concerning power and things that have been kept secret. It won’t be easy, but courage will help you shape things largely as you really want them to be. Good luck, Leo, and Happy Birthday!

For Sunday we may discover that the key to getting what we want, fulfilling ambitions and reaching goals, may be to find a way to work with complementary energies or entities. These are things, people, organizations that inherently conflict, and yet may provide two necessary parts in our quest for fulfillment. Some tips: reject what’s deceptive, and you may end up rejecting what’s creative or spiritually perceptive–it’s baby with the bathwater if you do, so just don’t take any Neptunian element as being entirely obvious or reliable; keep thinking and communications on ‘the high road’; and look for the wisdom and practicality that may be offered through relationships or by watching ‘the bottom line’ (Zeus at the midpoint of Venus sq Mars, Venus parallel Pallas, Merc contra-parallel Zeus, Hygeia, and the SN, and opp Neptune, Sun qnx Pluto)

Looks like the tree is heaving them at those people, rather than them just falling. Photo by Wmpearl Sign found in Honolulu {{PD}}

Looks like the tree is heaving coconuts at those people, rather than them just falling. Photo by Wmpearl Sign found in Honolulu {{PD}}

Today’s word image is a coconut. To me growing up these were exotic, something that spoke of an entire other way of life, of unimagined experience, and handling them was a whole other thing again: they almost felt like some strange cross between animal and plant (I think it’s the hair šŸ™‚ ). Look for something you have in your life now that you approach with that much wonder, so different than the every day, and explore it further–and if you don’t have something like that, go look for it!

For those born with the Sun at 16 Leo: (Please note: the Sun enters this degree evening of the 7th Pacific time; that means if your birthday is today on the calendar, you may actually want to check your chart so you know whether to read the year ahead for today, tomorrow, or yesterday.) For now, change and tough times are behind you; this year ahead, through to your next birthday, is filled with efforts toward ambition realization, especially through the experience of emotional partnership, and with consideration for others and some aesthetic ‘good sense’, you can go far. Good luck, Leo, and Happy Birthday!

Thank you, and enjoy your weekend!

Edgar Degas – ‘Jeune femme avec Ibis’ c1861 {{PD}}

The AstroEssence for Saturday: doing what’s smart empowers (and though you may think, Duh, of course it does! you might be surprised how often we turn away from what we know to be wise, in favor of what’s popular, fashionable, expedient, cheaper, quicker, etc). We call on our inner knowing, in order to be as effective as possible–but this only works if in thinking critically we don’t become destructive or overly focused on the pessimistic or consumed by our own rage or sense of injustice. Keep it balanced, keep it real, and put emotion on the back burner–it will only lead you wrong (Pallas trine Juno, Mercury enters Virgo and sesquiquadrates Pluto, Sun squares Black Moon Lilith)

Dick Ket, 'Still Life with Eggs' 1934 {{PD}}

Dick Ket, ‘Still Life with Eggs’ 1934 {{PD}}

Today’s word image is a basket of eggs–in contradiction to that saying, ‘Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.’ Though caution and alertness are still advisable, this may be a time to put all our eggs–that is, all our effort and energy investment–in a single direction. It could be we need to concentrate and push forward without distraction in order to actually achieve what we’ve been aiming at. No more meandering or slow build-up–all-out effort, carefully applied, is now called for.

For those born with the Sun at 8 Leo: as much as half your upcoming year, through to your next birthday, may be spent in the ’emotional dark’, where you may either decline to engage the emotional perceptions or where you may be flying blind, groping for some kind of realization and order connected to the feelings. Eventually, though, illumination comes, and it has tangible, material or physical results that shape your reality, likely in a very positive way. Good luck, Leo, and Happy Birthday!

By Pierre-Auguste Renoir - {{PD}}

By Pierre-Auguste Renoir – {{PD}}

The AstroEssence for Sunday: be aware that the past shapes current ambitions–and may influence negative thinking about aims and goals, as well–and that means what we assume about our wants may be mistaken, rooted in a past that no longer is. Again, smart moves that lead to empowered circumstances are possible; keep in mind that the unexpected, the revolutionary, and the modern may bring benefits but also costs, and these can easily get out-of-hand. Look for easy flow, in both positive and less useful ways, between matters of the Houses ruled by Venus and Uranus in the natal chart (SN parallel Zeus, Pallas sxt Ceres, Venus trine Uranus, Merc semi-sq Zeus)

Michaelangelo Meucci. 1892 {{PD}}

Michaelangelo Meucci. 1892 {{PD}}

Today’s word image is a songbird. Are you aware of the ‘song you sing’? That is, do you really know what you’re telling others, celebrating, announcing to the Universe? We’re often unaware of what we’re conveying, thinking we’re presenting one focus when many facets of which we’re unaware are seen (and responded to) by others. We may think we can consciously control what ‘comes out’, but the reality is that what we genuinely are shapes everything. The more honest we are with ourselves, the more authentic our ‘song’ becomes.

For those born with the Sun at 9 Leo: it’s easy to build what you care about this year, through to your next birthday; you have the energy and drive, and previously noted constraints and barriers seem to have fallen away. Don’t waste the opportunity to order your reality in a way that’s much closer to the ideal. Good luck, Leo, and Happy Birthday!

Please consider supporting this or your favorite blog (and a big Thank You to All who do!) and have a wonderful weekend!

Carl Bantzer SchwƤlmer ‘Tanz (Dance)’ 1897-1898 {{PD}}

The AstroEssence: Relationships challenge us, specifically over values or the way we feel, and both interactions and money matters excavate areas of feeling and intent we’ve long thought set in stone. Thoughts strive for the ‘healthy’ approach, whatever that means to the individual, but communications and our own reasoning processes repeatedly point out our less-than-positive habits and tendencies; there’s no glossing things over and ignoring the ugly parts, the potential for damage, or the dangers, which shimmer vividly before us as we light the cigarette or run toward the cliff wearing our homemade parachute. Tips for handling what comes at us: value change–that is, find the rewards in it; accept that all relationships have a dark side, and that even a dream job or earning opportunity asks us to exchange a little of our power in order to skirt ‘death’ (think symbolically); and know that all of us are trying to purge our minds and concentrate on what’s positive, what thoughts and ideas will build us up–but in purging, all that dross has to go somewhere, so step carefully (Venus qnx Pluto, Mercury semi-sq Hygeia)

Derpy_bunny_graffitiToday‘s word image is a hungry rabbit with very big teeth! Despite the cartoon-y nature of the image, what we’re seeing isĀ something normally harmless that could take quite a bite out of us if motivated. Temperaments fluctuate, dispositions morph and change; watch for the unexpected, aggressive ‘hunger’ from a quarter that’s normally passive, or more often seen as victim than aggressor. (I promise you, I actually write the word image before I go look for an accompanying pic–sometimes it just works out too well!)

For those born with the Sun at 02 Leo:
Your year may get off to a fiery start, but soon you enjoy internal emotional harmony, which may be your biggest asset, now through to your next birthday. This kind of agreement within yourself can propel you with unusual speed and precision toward your goals, so aim carefully, as you’re likely to find yourself speeding in that direction. What’s ahead? Taking the power, status, and reach you’ve achieved (no matter how major or minor you may see this as) and doing the smart thing with it, the healing thing, the healthy thing. Good luck, Leo, and Happy Birthday!

Charles Frederick Ulrich – ‘Typesetter at Enschede Haarlem’ 1883 {{PD}}

The AstroEssence: We don’t want to see displays of power or force–they’re hurtful, wounding, damaging, and contrary to our ideals–but we can’t quite accept all we need to in order to create our ‘smartest’ (that is, best for our growth and happiness) environment; the result is that we are going after our ambitions and desires, whether they are really good for us (and whether they involve their own displays of power, force, or even bullying) or not (and part of why we persist in our pursuit is that we have a ‘knack’, or perhaps we just see an opening, right now). The dissonance could be very subtle, but it’s there, hidden behind statements of need or ‘we must!’ Proceed with consciousness (Pallas qnx Hygeia, Chiron parallel Ceres, Mars nov Zeus, Venus semi-sq Vesta, Sun the arm of a T-sq with Ceres and Juno)

Today’s word image is a book cipher. How clear is your communication? Do you ‘encrypt’ things out of an unwillingness to embrace your own desires, hoping to get others to take the initiative, or is it a matter of fear at being ‘seen’? Do you obscure your meaning hoping others will misread it (and then, when you point back and say, “But you misunderstood,” do you feel powerful?) Do you try to sound more sophisticated than you are, or perhaps smarter (though the only one judging you as less sophisticated or smart is yourself!)? Are you using words to hide your message, or to reveal it? Even if you want to obscure your message, for any reason (and there are many legitimate reasons you might want to), are you clear about what and why you’re communicating that way? That’s important to know.

For those born with the Sun at 01 Leo: the emotional ‘power situation’ is front and center this coming Solar year, through to your next birthday, and the challenges it brings won’t be easy. You are trying to determine or attain your ‘correct’ or desired status, and exercising your prerogatives is paramount; there is a certain deep need to make your mark, to face and find your own place among authorities, and you’d like to work out something with Mother Nature–whether that’s your actual role vis a vis Gaia herself, or a sorting out of a health crisis or ‘mothering’ issue, it’s all meant to clear up identity and authority issues, and give you your proper place. Good luck, Leo, and Happy Birthday!

Enjoy your Saturday!

‘Glittering Sea’ Hiroshi Yoshida 1925 {{PD}}

The AstroEssence: We’ve been immersed in a great deal of healing energy for a few days now, and if you haven’t availed yourself of it then you’ve almost certainly found yourself, intentionally or not, lashing out, hyper-sensitive to some perceived hurt. The keyword here is ‘perceived’; all that sensitivity, that understanding of where to apply something soothing, unless directed at flesh or spirit in need of healing, sits on the psychic skin like a rash, irritating us until we reach our limit. Things we’ve been ignoring in relationship or finances are the most likely catalysts; awareness that our thinking is off, in terms of real-world perception, is vital to responding in the most effective way. To review: efforts toward healing, guided by values and instinct rather than circumstances, are the best way to handle this over-stimulating influence (Mars trine Chiron, Venus sq Black Moon Lilith and nov Vesta, Saturn contra-parallel Mercury and sesq the Sun, Sun sxt Sedna)

Today’s word image is two unripe apples plucked prematurely from the tree. This is an obvious and somewhat suggestive symbol of having ‘harvested’ something before it was ready (we’re far too quick to associate an apple with sin, aren’t we?) The number two implies cooperation–and are we ever ‘willing’ before we’re truly ‘ready’? What are you feeling impatient over? And is it too late to stop yourself from taking (or taking advantage of) something that really needs more time to develop?

For those born with the Sun at 25 Cancer: recent times have been busy, and the pace won’t slow anytime soon. There’s demand over the coming Solar year (through to your next birthday) for you to demonstrate your unique gifts and a requirement that you step up to mend a long-time rift or wound; don’t put this off, as it’s a vital part of both honing your instincts and honoring your values. Expect an emotional shift partway through the year that will make you more restrained, more contained. Happy Birthday, Cancer!

The AstroEssence: The mind is in excellent working order, aligned with our highest values and with all loving relationships–with the latter suggesting discord reveals where love is lacking–and the issue may be that though thoughts run along noble lines, they lack connection to what’s practical, what’s been ignored or denied, and most importantly, what’s truly smart. We could follow our ideals into a logistical abyss, unless we are careful to draw lines from A to B–and then follow them.

We also see action and choice that by its very nature heals, and though this is prompted by emotion and intuition, we can thank our mental faculties for coordinating our efforts along the most effective lines.

Note that the Sun square to Uranus and contra-parallel Pluto will in essence shine a spotlight on those Uranus-Pluto issues that have been plaguing us for some time. Look for sudden events or abrupt episodes of ‘enlightenment’ that are distinctly Plutonian in undertone. The Sun may blind us, at first, to our best response, but a little reflection on past struggles of this nature will reveal what we should do (Mercury and Venus conjoin to qnx Pallas, nov Vesta, sq Black Moon Lilith, with Merc also parallel Vesta, the Sun, Mars, and Chiron form a Water Grand Trine, with the Sun also sq Uranus and contra-parallel Pluto)

Nymphicus_hollandicus_1876Today’s word image is a cockatiel. When I think of these birds I think of how smart they are, and how much they like to interact, but also how high-strung; they can develop nervous habits in captivity like pulling out their own feathers–which brings us to the question of, Should we be keeping these animals in cages at all? As a symbol this may speak to some part of ourselves that may be hyper-reactive in social situations, that may fret when we would do better to be free in our actions. Look for some way in which you may repress yourself, creating (unnecessary) tension and stress as a result.

For those born with the Sun at 24 Cancer: you may have an emotion-driven Solar year ahead, through to your next birthday, when you will be empowered to heal long-standing hurts. Doing so may bring resistance from the group; it’s inevitable that as you change, the dynamic will change. Embrace what’s most unique about yourself, and know that honoring your need to explore, to learn, and to share what you discover will help you create the future you really want, with or without group approval. Happy Birthday, Cancer!

Saturday: We may find it difficult both to utilize creative energies in profitable or productive ways and to express the wisdom we know we have within; and this is in spite of the optimism we are feeling and the plentiful opportunities we see all around us. Relationships and/ or finances may be subject to misunderstandings or outright deceptions, and what we want, as well as our interactions, suffer under the burden of unreal ideals to which we flawed humans may find it impossible to adhere. Our expectations don’t jibe with reality, and how quickly we are able to set aside what we anticipated and instead deal with what is will determine how well things go for us. The healthy way is optimism, and an openness that allows us to share our burdens and delights with others, and they with us. A commitment to reality and a sense of being ‘in this together’ will make for effective and positive outcomes (Hygeia enters Libra, Venus sesq Neptune, Mercury sesq Pallas, Sun sxt Jupiter)

Saturday’s word image is a vacuum that spews out, rather than sucks in! What mechanism or device used in our thinking or our behavior is not just ineffective, it is bringing about the opposite outcome to what we actually want? Admit you are the source of at least a fraction of your troubles, rid yourself of this Self-perpetuated obstacle, and notice how certain difficulties just fall away.

Sunday: Our values or relationships themselves challenge our priorities, and the scenario presented is, ‘Choose: you can have what you care about, or me/ what I care about’; this is a false dichotomy likely presented by someone who either holds and wants to retain power over you, or who wants your power for their own. Emotionalism can make it easy to act in accord with the demand, just to remove the pressure, but doing so would put you at a distinct disadvantage, and shrink your options and choices to almost nil–so trust your values and priorities, instead, and what you know to be right (Mars qnx Vesta, Venus sq Ceres, Merc trine Mars)

Sunday’s word image is a blue-green color filled with undulating light, as if you’re observing the world from under water. Consider the emotional filters we all use, and make note of the ones that allow us to observe without becoming overly involved, or heavily judgmental, but that help us maintain a cool equilibrium. You’ll need this mild distancing at some point today, if only to keep you from blowin’ it up.

Your Weekend 2-3 July 2016 An Instinctual Picnic

'A Picnic at Portofino' George Spencer Watson 1910 {{PD}}

Saturday our thoughts and communications have something beautifully instinctual about them; be sure to really listen to yourself and to others, as the unconscious perceptual nature makes itself and its wisdom known, and that means there are no stumbles if we’ll simply pause to hear what’s really going on (and which way we should go–the instincts are dead on with that!) Even with the potential for scenarios requiring adjustment (either to the material situation and/ or to what we think we know), we find that the instincts will serve us if we’ll just give them some attention (Mercury nov Sedna and trine Pallas, the Sun semi-sq Sedna and qnx Saturn)

Sunday presents a radically mixed (and so confusing) bag: on the one hand we may find that things we’ve said and done in the past may hamper us now, and the reality picture seems to not only contradict our highest values and priorities, but to actually impede us in exercising our status (that’s a wide net that generally covers circumstances where we would normally be empowered to act but for some reason can’t). Add to this the potential to be mislead, even mightily deceived, and we could feel there’s nothing we can count on. Contrast this with the way creativity and opportunity are spread out before us like a picnic; we are offered rare, nearly guaranteed circumstances for future success, and if we can keep our heads screwed on straight, and find creative venues that suit our specific, unique sensibilities, we can give that dream, the really big one, a reasonable chance for manifestation (Juno sesq SN, Saturn contra-parallel Vesta, Jupiter parallel NN, Mercury sesq Mars, Sun trine Neptune)

The titling on the picture reads: “THE HOME-COMING OF THE BRIDE Having at last found a cavern that promises well as a dwelling-place, the male Scorpion leads his bride into it. Next morning the cave has only one tenant” But they don’t say which one! Photo by P. H. Fabre CC BY 4.0

This weekend’s word image is something my husband observed this morning and shared with me in an email: “I stood behind a woman at the bus stop this morning who had a Scorpio tattoo on her toe and then, when the bus I was on was driving through downtown, it stopped next to a car whose license plate said WTRSIGN.” We may be dealing with action and choice dictated both by the need for conscious change (Mars in Scorpio) and those matters ignored, denied, or that enrage that may be driving us from the unconscious (Black Moon Lilith, also in Scorpio), and individually we may look for this effect in matters of the natal Houses that hold Water signs. Expect strong emotional reactions to be the initial signal, pushed by a psychic ‘wave’, that mental or physical change is underway–then watch which direction following those emotions may take you.

Have a wonderful, safe, and restful weekend, and to all in the U.S., Happy Independence Day!
