'A Planet as Big as its Star' Artist's concept by NASA {{PD}}

‘A Planet as Big as its Star’ Artist’s concept by NASA {{PD}}

I’m taking off for a few days in celebration of my 29th wedding anniversary; all comments, orders, and correspondence will be held starting morning of the 9th Pacific time until evening of the 11th. Should you find you enjoy this sampler and/ or find it useful, you may want to subscribe and get the full Weekly, the Daily forecast and Daily Image, and free, optional lessons and very-low cost services, delivered right to your email!

9 November Pallas moves into Virgo; the inclination is to be smart and practical, no-nonsense, to take a full accounting of what we have and how to use it–but no, we get a little loopy, a little impulsive, believing any fairy tale we hear–and so perhaps putting ourselves in a bad spot with authorities, Mother Nature, or in a situation where we really should try and negotiate. Channel creative energy into proven outlets or concrete manifestations, and make an overt effort to remain firmly aware of reality–these two measures will keep us out of the worst trouble, and could result in some truly inspired creations or creative ‘forms’ (Neptune quincunx, Earth sesquiquadrate Ceres, Mars sextile Saturn, Mercury trine Neptune)

1 AM PST of the 10th the Aquarius Moon quincunxes Jupiter, asking us to adjust our emotional engagement with the social sphere. It’s an intellectual need as much as it is an emotional one–at the least we should pull back and re-consider any expansion attempts we have underway. 6:30 AM PST the Moon squares Sedna. We may hit an emotional ‘blind spot’ that inspires us to make a ‘wrong move’ (or just a clumsy one). Remove emotion from the action equation at this time. 1 PM PST the Moon quincunxes Vesta. We intuit exactly what we must modify in the intimate relationship, on the home front, or concerning those areas we dedicate our lives to. Adjustment can be quiet and easy, if attended to now–I wouldn’t recommend we wait to make changes, as the next aspect between these two is an opposition–and of course, we’d do better to head a confrontation off at the pass. Void begins at 3:11 PM PST; the Moon enters Pisces at 6:37 PM PST. Luna opposes Pallas; we are shocked by the overwhelming immediacy of our needs, and of our desire to escape, which is clearly unwise. Look outside the Self for some anchoring influences, and a little sensible input. 10 PM PST the Moon conjuncts Neptune and trines Mercury, the latter of which is stationary direct. Flights of fantasy concerning future potentials grab our attention; enjoy them, and study them, for what they can tell you about what you truly want in life. Midnight the Moon quincunxes Ceres in Libra. Nature takes over in relationship–it’s that simple, and direct.

The image for the 11th is a very white cow standing in a very green meadow. The purity of the assets we work with and the areas we work in may be coming into question right now. We’d be wise to note that nothing is as hypernaturally unadulterated as we would hope, and yet we must do our best to maintain an atmosphere that allows the cells to grow in a healthy manner. Instead of railing against things we can do nothing about on a personal level, we can not only add our voices to the cause of a healthy ecology, we can stop one or two of those Self-destructive habits that make our railing about the environment look just a little bit contradictory, at the least.

12 November BIG opportunities come along, but there’s some chafing between our ambitions and what we know to be wise. In wanting to take advantage of the openings that we see, we must take care not to do something we otherwise know is stupid. I think that’s pretty clear. Look to the space Jupiter is now transiting in the natal chart for clues as to what area this opportunity may present itself in, and keep in mind that Jupiter will already be retrograde–that stupid thing we may be tempted to do may actually be a very smart thing, if we’ll only wait until Jupiter is once again direct to do it. (Pallas semi-square Zeus, Sun trine Jupiter)

Enjoy your weekend, and thank you!

‘Femmes de Siloe, Palestine by Felix Bonfils Silver albumen print c1867-1870 {{PD}}

Here’s what I wrote back in July 2012 on the situation:

Was Yassar Arafat poisoned?

My regular readers are probably aware of how much I like to investigate a possible poisoning–these tend to involve classic compounds that have direct astrological correspondences, and so can make for a rewarding quest. In this case, various possessions of Arafat’s have been found to be radioactively contaminated, with our old friend polonium, and so some are lobbying to exhume Arafat and test for contamination. Should we know the truth? Yes, of course; will the indignation that arises, the pointed fingers, do anyone any good, by now? No, probably not, as it’s unlikely a culprit smaller than a government will be found, whether the contamination came from within his inner circle–a traitor, working for another faction–or from a faceless intruder in the name of massive political interests–and making such accusations about entire nations are fraught with peril, in so many ways. And yet, his people and his loved ones have the right to know from what he died–and so we do our part, looking at transits to the natal chart at death, to see if we can find any clues.

Arafat (27 August 1929  2 AM  Cairo Egypt–data is not certain) died on December 11, 2004 in the early morning hours in France. Pluto was moving through the natal 6th of health (destroyed, disruption to the cells, very much like the cancer that long-term low level polonium exposure would generate) and was conjunct his Saturn (destruction of bones/ bone marrow) and his natal Sun/ Neptune conjunction was being opposed by t Uranus which was just one minute off exact conjunct his Earth–Uranus too can arguably represent radiation (the modern, the planet for which uranium, similar to polonium, is named, carrying the ‘charge’ of radioactivity). t Sedna is conjunct the natal Moon, NN, and Chiron (we can’t see at the time what the ‘injury’ is, what it could mean, or what the effects to females in his life–who may also be ill–or the emotional toll–and this suggests he may not have been able to eat for some time). t Saturn was retrograde and within conjunction of his Venus (suppression of the capacity of the blood sugar to nourish, shut down to kidneys), and t Saturn had recently passed over natal Pluto, suggesting manifestation of something destructive, and it’s only this last that points to a possible plot. But, if there was one to deliberately contaminate the Palestinian leader, then we should see it elsewhere, and we do: t Moon as trine Arafat’s Part of Fortune at the approximate time of death, and the transiting Sun and Mercury were both close to conjunction with t Pluto (and thus Arafat’s Saturn, suggesting the transformation of the body), and t Pluto quincunx n Moon (with the Moon possibly being natal chart ruler for Arafat) with the ‘message’ of the Merc/ Sun/ Pluto meeting in this instance perhaps, to borrow a phrase from George Bush, ‘Mission Accomplished’  t Jupiter, playing so prominent a role in the natural death scenario, here is exact quincunx the North Node/ Chiron natal combo, this in my mind implying that the natural death process had been ‘adjusted’ (the quincunx), changing what would’ve been the natural time of departure–good an argument as any for a possible poisoning by radiation–so my vote is yes, he was murdered.

Findings on the exhumed materials (bones, cloth) in the Arafat case have been announced; here’s a good, ‘all sides of the story’ link

7 November we get a break–or is it an illusion? Venus sextiles Neptune, offering a ‘dream come true’ scenario–the real question will be, can we believe our eyes? That is a purely individual matter, dependent on how and where transiting Neptune is impacting the natal chart right now; should there be indications that you are being swayed by delusion, deception, or fantasy, then proceed carefully with the opportunities offered today; either the potential isn’t what you think, or the promised outcome isn’t–and either way, it could cost. Best guidance is to keep ideals front and center–little will go wrong if you do.

‘The Laundress’, a perfectly Capricornian image from a perfectly Venus in Capricorn guy–Toulouse-Lautrec 1884-1888 {{PD}}

5 November Venus enters Capricorn. This can be a teeth-grinding, jaw-clenching transit, just because Venus is not super-comfortable following the rules (though she does love to be fair, as long as she gets hers!) being restricted, doing things because they’ve always been done that way, or putting on her frumpiest, as she’s expected to get down on her knees (a Cappy-ruled body bit) and work hard. This transit can be tough if we have a natal Venus that is essentially undisciplined, that just wants what she wants and is used to sating her appetites whenever she pleases. The good thing is, once Venus bothers to climb into those work clothes, she may end up making something astoundingly beautiful, though there might always be a sad element to things (Dostoyevsky has this natally, as do sculptor Camille Claudel and artist Toulouse-Lautrec, a depressive trifecta indeed) and disciplined performance may be in the blood (Beethoven and Maria Callas both have this natally, but so does Miley Cyrus! which only argues for her ‘out-of-control’ presentations really being very very controlled) and tastes can run to the decidedly dour and unappealing (Eva Braun has this placement natally, and we all know who she found attractive).

Venus will slow in Capricorn, and retrograde there on the 20th of December, so our time in the land of the dominatrix and ‘practical’ gifts for the Holidays will last a long time–and it will feel twice that, by the time our Lady of Love leaves the sign in early March 2014. It’s a long slog, and we’d better make friends with Venus as she moves through this sign; find a way to shape the Venusian impulse to the Goat’s exacting requirements and you can have a rollicking time, just as long as it’s cleaned up by 9 and lights out by 10.

‘By the Waters of Babylon’ Arthur Hacker 1888 {{PD}}

From ECLIPSE:

On 1 November the Veil will indeed be much thinner than it normally is; in fact, it may be thinner than it’s ever been before, considering the kinds of energies that will bleed into each other, that will push through, that will saturate the emotions and intuition, communications of all kinds, and that will have palpable effects on the environment itself.  Body of earliest degree on the 1st is Neptune, and body of latest degree is Ceres, in a crisis state of 29 degrees (that is, a ‘need to express’ state); this says we may start out fixed on our illusions, our ideals, or poised to implement the creative, but what we end the day with is Power: the kind that is seated in our natural roles, in our innate authority, in our connection to Nature. All this is a prelude to the Solar eclipse of the 3rd. Be prepared to feel, and to experience–I think that’s really the best counsel I can give

We needn't be a grim today as 'Clytemnestra, after the murder' John Collier 1882 {{PD}}

We needn’t be as grim over these days as ‘Clytemnestra, after the murder’ John Collier 1882 {{PD}}

We’re coming up on a couple of really rough days; they don’t have to be too bad, though, if we know how to face them. These forecasts are from ECLIPSE:

30 October we are in denial about some important things: the inevitable supremacy of nature, our own wounds, our needs, the fact that we have a wild, primal part that may contain a few things our civilized side considers unflattering. We can’t move forward, can’t create the future we want, if we are carrying a load of shame over things that just are. Our mistake is in seeing these things as bad, when they simply exist. Stop rejecting part of yourself, believing that some plastic idea of who we should be is better than the stinking, caterwauling, lusciousness of a human being in three-dimensions. With Merc retro, now’s the time to practice loving ourselves as we are, without that pesky over-socialized brain getting in the way. (Saturn semi-square Ceres, Mars opposed Chiron, Venus quincunx Sedna, Sun conjunct NN)

31 October it’s time to deal–with values that aren’t truly our own and don’t support our empowerment, with aggression, competitiveness, egotism, and even hatred we’ve been sensing that may finally break out into the open today, with the need to tell someone how much we love them, and with the way the image we’ve been propagating betrays both our highest values and our real empowerment needs. Whew! That’s heavy, as we used to say. So how do we handle things? Centering ourselves at our core is really the only answer; that allows us to both stay true to ourselves and to deflect any ill-will someone else cooks up toward us out of their own misery. And don’t forget that part about sharing some loving feelings with someone else; if you happen to do that with the person running toward you with an axe, you just might discover you’ve found the recipe for world peace. We must note, a Fist of God with base of Earth-Juno and apex Vesta; this says that in order to live those highest values we must first see to our own material empowerment. Though it’s carrying water, chopping wood both before and after enlightenment, we must realize that it’s seeing to those physical needs that gives us the true freedom to honor our values. As someone said sometime: nobody cares about freedom when they’re hungry; living our values requires a willingness to deal with the physical, and with physical needs–there’s nothing spiritual about turning our noses up at our own humanness. ALERT: more incidents that feed into/ reflect the UR-PL square. (Mars trine Pluto and quincunx Uranus, Mercury semi-square Venus, the Fist).

A Fist of God with base of Venus-Vesta and apex South Node says it all: if we pit the various facets of what we care about, treasure, and love against each other, we will drag ourselves backward, to a place we’ve already been (and conventional wisdom says that if we aren’t still there, there’s a reason we left!)

27 October quite out of the blue, it seems, we have some difficulty knowing the smart thing to do; we may be tempted to blame Merc retro, but it’s really about our own sense of wisdom. It’s running up against some kind of primal signal that’s blocking it–and worse, we may feel prompted to destroy things, to make a ‘clean sweep’, or could find rage rising at our own frustrating inability to locate our internal compass–we may even be tempted to negate all that we believe to be wise, perhaps as we try to prove we don’t need those guidelines. Destructive responses to our temporary fog are not helpful or necessary; what we must do is go to that pre-verbal place of feeling, the one that connects to our most basic sense of being, and of right and wrong, and accept a feeling download from there. That will hold us over in the ‘how do I handle this?’ department, until our usual standards are clear and accessible once again. ALERT: this is a precursor to the UR-PL square (Pallas square Sedna, Pluto sesquiquadrate Pallas)

Expanding horizons, or limiting them–it’s all in your viewpoint.’The Sailor’s Wedding’ RC Woodville 1852 {{PD-Art}}

On the 23rd we may have snapped for no reason, felt out-of-sorts on the social scene, found expansion attempts stymied, and bumped egos with others over beliefs. It was just one of those days; by the 24th, however, we’ve left all that behind: highest values and the security that comes from positive family and/ or home situation supports our efforts to reach out, get the word out, to teach, share beliefs or knowledge, or to expand our horizons. An excellent day for interaction; schedule seminars, meet-and-greets, and advertising or public relations efforts, and dedications or religious ceremonies (including weddings, though I would advise that this should be the ‘show’ ceremony–the license and actual vows should have been taken before the retrograde on the 21st)–they will all proceed exceptionally well. Have a cup of tea, and sort out those feelings during Mercury retro. ‘The Glass of Tea’ Mary Cassatt 1897 {{PD-Art}}

Mercury Retrograded at 18 Scorpio 23 today–Nothing is in close contact for this event (though Vesta is technically sextile from Virgo, the aspect did not perfect before Merc’s retrograde, essentially ‘robbing’ the contact of real meaning). A Merc retrograde in Water typically calls us to examine the emotions, and all communications, occurrences, and perceptions related to these. We ask ourselves, How do I feel? and we will spend some time determining the ‘fit’ of those feelings to our lives. We do see Jupiter trine Merc’s turnaround (wide, by my fussy event standards), probably exaggerating the emotional effects, and possibly linking them to the social. Mercury retrograde in Scorpio could plunge us into dicey emotional territory; the emotions are intense, deep, probably at least partially hidden even from us, and may be propelled by undercurrents of feeling of which we’re unaware, and we may confuse these with thought; we’re ‘feeling, not thinking’, though we may believe just the opposite. This retrograde will be a time of emotional discovery, and should be approached with that in mind.
