Moon in Aries, My Daily Astrology Diary, The Astro Essence

The mountain seems unscalable, but it's one step at a time de Haes 19th century via Wikimedia Commons

By midnight (6th to the 7th) the Moon will oppose h.Zeus, perhaps giving us the feeling that we’ll never fulfill those ambitions and desires, or perhaps manifesting as an actual person or entity that we expect to be supportive but isn’t, likely ‘for our own good’ (h.Zeus in Libra). Soon after (3:30 AM PST) the Moon opposes Saturn, and agents of oppression, within and without, come out of the woodwork. With a huge amount of co-operative good will, and a steady determination to refuse to bargain away your own interests, you may be able to gain a strong foothold in an emotionally satisfying  situation–your own internal balance and health is the key to whether this will be onerous or a positive step forward.

Ceres, Dark of the Moon, Jupiter-Pluto square, My Daily Astrology Diary

Ceres-the scythe, of course, represents her agrarian connection, and the chain may stand for her authority, specifically the weight and obligations carried by those who are in charge. artist unknown French c.15th century

Ceres sits at the midpoint of the current Jupiter-Pluto square, feeding the pressure of the social and expansive in conflict with the dark, the secret, the mysterious, and the forces of change into issues of authority and the maternal or nurturing. We may see our Jupiter-Pluto energy funneled into our nurturing roles (and these can be the nurture of just about anything, though with the Ceres placement in Aquarius we may be trying to get something intellectual or avant garde on its feet) or we may see our authority or Mommy-related secrets become very very public. In any case, what we need to know is that issues involving Ceres’ subjects will be the outlet for the clash of the lord of the Underworld and the supreme god, and Mother Nature will absorb the impact–and perhaps, give or withhold ‘permission’ to deal successfully.

Dark of the Moon begins around 12:30 PM PST of the 1st; it’s an invitation to relax, meditate, and, with the Moon in Aquarius, think.

The Essence for 25 February 2011: The Superhero Approach

Jupiter in Aries, Mars/ Chiron in Aquarius, My Daily Astrology Diary, The Astro Essence

It's not a day to let pure emotion power you! Artist unknown {{PD}}

I’m going to skip the Lunar picture for today (it’s just not terribly compelling) in favor of a few bits about the recent Mars/ Chiron meet-up. It brought forward a lot of passive-aggressive interaction, attempts to wound dressed up in New Age garb/ or academic authority and ‘rightness’/ or as being new and innovative (all Aquarian forms) and characterizing those who resist as Self-absorbed individuals (negative Leo) blocking progress–and all this is designed and presented in such as way as to make it so we are unable to respond without looking like we’re the aggressors! (Ah, the power of passive projection!)

But, the way to meet this is to adopt a Jupiter in Aries attitude; become the warrior unafraid of freedom, of expressing, of showing the social sphere exactly who we are. The key is honesty–with yourself, with others, in all you do–along with a true intention of harmlessness. Adopt these and it’s like being some kind of superhero; not only do the aggressions of others bounce harmlessly off you, but you are moved to change your own interaction approach, as well–and bring about some extraordinary healing by taking out-of-the-ordinary actions (a perfect expression of Mars/ Chiron in Aquarius).

The Essence for 6 February 2011: Irritable, but Conscientious, All At Once

06 Sunday Feb 2011

Cassini caught the jets of Enceladus, a Moon of Saturn, January 2011--Thanks, NASA!

Void begins 11:48 AM PST, as the Moon pulls away from her opposition to Juno; Moon enters Aries at 2:46 PM Pacific. The Aries Moon likely makes us feisty, charges us up–but if we’re already enervated and tuckered out, it can just make us irritable. Expect added strain as the Moon squares the Nodal axis (“Am I doing what I should to move my life forward?”) and it’s all exaggerated with the Moon’s conjunction to Jupiter, 7 PM. The Moon squares Venus about 9 Pacific, and we may either feel a dissonance in relationships or vulnerability in finances, with the Cardinal placements urging us to do something about our upset. It’s really better not to act right now, as the emotional picture doesn’t support successful choices and inhibits our ability to foresee the consequences.

3 February 2011: Decision Day

ECLIPSE Newsletter, Moon in Aquarius, My Daily Astrology Diary

Photo by Andreas Praefcke Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported Thank you Andreas!

It’s decision day–or maybe not, considering this excerpt from the Lunar outlook on the ECLIPSE readers protected page:

The Moon in Aquarius may have to struggle for our attention; with Sun conjunct Mars also in the sign of the waterbearer, the emotions may feel shunted to the side–it may be like the ego/ identity asserting itself will take center stage, and the feelings will be filtered through the intellect (Aquarius). It may make for a disconnected feeling that seems to be all ‘I am, I want.’ Sensitives may be just that; like an open wound, we may seek to assuage an unattributable sadness or hurt, but the mind makes a poor band-aid, and we could end up feeling woefully neglected in our quest to just feel better.

I’m going to spend the day meditating on whether to continue public posts at all; being ripped off is not a good feeling, especially when the perpetrators hide behind cutesy screen names, which are supposed to indicate they are One with Nature and therefore what they do is GOOD, and who become indignant, screeching about their rights, when they are asked to remove stolen material. I won’t even approach these people anymore. The internet seems to have spawned a group of users who believe that to exploit the work of others is their privilege; it’s already driven some of my colleagues to leave the scene entirely. So, I invite those who want to continue to read what I have to say to subscribe–this seems to be the only way I can control access to my work, and to earn a decent wage. I know many are on tight budgets–but after years of showing up, day after day, and delivering free content, only to have it taken by others, I’m fairly sure I’m getting off this merry-go-round. Consider that you don’t go to work for free–and neither should I. Here’s an example: say I make lovely ceramic ash trays !!! and there are samples of my ceramic creations that I give away, and we are at a fair (the internet) where everyone has a table. Say someone comes to my table and takes armloads of my samples and puts them on their table. They think my samples are pretty and believe they will draw attention to their work. When I object, they say, “But you’re giving them away, so why can’t I take them and use them to get people to come to my business? I’m not selling them–I’M TAKING YOUR WORK AND GIVING IT AWAY”–but they are selling memberships (or other things) at their table–And that’s where they miss the point–it’s my work, and copyright laws allow me (and my heirs for seventy years after my death) to decide what happens to it–not someone trying to drum up membership sales at their Magical Mystical Fairy Forum–where most of the content is ‘borrowed’ and that’s what you’re supposed to pay them to see!

So, I will spend the day thinking on it–and believe me, this is the last time I’ll address it. (I hear a massive sigh of relief! I think that was me and everyone else!) Consider that the cost of a subscription to my newsletter is equivalent to one latte a month, is less than the cost of a single pack of cigarettes, one movie ticket, or one microbrew, per month, and that the newsletter and protected page provide guidance, astrological instruction, and a wee splash of entertainment–and then you can make your decision, too.

Many thanks to those who have subscribed–watch for an EXTRA! to your email later today.

22 January 2011: Too Easy to Speak, Too Easy to Lose Our Cool

Moon in Virgo, My Daily Astrology Diary, My Weekend Astro Diary

Jacob wrestling with the Angel Leloir 1865 {{PD}}

Just before 9 AM PST the Moon trines Mercury in Earth–do we really need to open our mouths about material matters, ours and everyone else’s? No, we needn’t–but we just might, before we know it. Caution is in order, only because we may have a tendency to promise more than we can deliver at this point.

Things stay cool ’til right before 5 PM PST when the Virgo Moon squares Venus in Sagittarius–if we are feeling petulant, it will show. Somehow nothing seems to satisfy–for those on the commute at this time, take care–it seems like a point where tempers may flair for almost no reason at all. Whatever aggravating circumstances we see outside ourselves, it’s fitting to remind that this is really the state inside us–and so not to react strongly when others forget this fine point.

Cancer Full Moon January 2011: Power Lineage, Power Elite

Full Moon, Moon in Cancer, My Daily Astrology Diary

A card deck from the French Revolution, with Kings replaced with thinkers from the past, Queens replaced with ideals

The Full Moon for January occurs at 1:21 PM PST on the 19th at 29 Cancer 27. My sense of this is that it’s almost more important than the New Moon eclipse was, as it promises, simply by its degree and aspect type, a culmination that is at a crisis stage. We have the tension of both the Sun/ Earth axis and the Moon–these are vital energies that are all in crisis at once–identity, Soul, and life-blood, material/ physical as well as our connection to the body, to sustenance and the shaping of our surroundings, and the emotional/ intuitive, with its facility for sensing, feeling, knowing, without words, images, or other cues. It says, in short, that the senses of the world will be one big open, well not wound, perhaps sense organ, would be a better designator, though exaggerated nerve would also do, considering that the Full Moon’s trine to Jupiter is within two minutes, and the trine to Jupiter’s long-time companion, Uranus, is within the two degree orb. This happens in the element of Water, making it even more feeling and sense-oriented than we might be able to imagine–it’s more like a dream, reflected by the quincunx the Full Moon makes to Neptune and his long-time companion, Chiron–and that takes the dream not just to an emotional level, but to a primitive one, where the primal Chirotic urge is stirred and the imagination, and the connection to the Cosmic and to the Collective, take it from there.

Juno is also involved, in sextile to the Moon, making it all hooked to empowerment, and giving that empowerment need a life-or-death feel, making it a demand. So what we have is likely an overwhelming emotional atmosphere that may make us feel frightened, wounded, lost, isolated (or conversely, lost in the vastness of the Cosmos or the Collective identity), fed to us through the mucous membranes, the nerves, though hallucinogens, alcohol, drugs, through dream or dream-like states, through illusion or fantasy, through the group experience, and all overlaid with the sense that this is an emergency, that we must feel effective.

The Sabian for the Earth/ Moon conjunction is ‘A Daughter of the American Revolution’  and the symbol for the Sun ‘A Secret Meeting of Men Responsible for Executive Decisions in World Affairs’ How does this translate for the individual?

Since we are all at the mercy of decisions made by those who hold the power, and anytime we don’t agree we are cast (besmirched) as some form of revolutionary (read: threat to the existing power structure, if only through our disapproval) then we may experience our own version of feeling (remember, this is a Full Moon at 29 degrees) brace yourself, inside the power structure. Even though we might logically think this would bring an experience of alienation and isolation (and undoubtedly for some, this will be the experience as they project a sense of elitism onto the world that surrounds them) it in fact will pinpoint our own revolutionary lineage–we find our place in the power elite, as the descendant of privilege–we find where we are in charge of the world, from whence we gain our power, we find our global power ‘clan’–and unexpected, emotion-charged, and sensation-filled will be our Full Moon experience.

ECLIPSE Readers, see the complete forecast explanation under ‘Pages’ at right–Water water everywhere (and some places, ice!) stay safe, and have a wonderful Full Moon!

15 January 2011: Easy, Flirty Air

15 Saturday Jan 2011

Remember, too much talk can wear out your beau, while too much flirting can alienate your mate G.Donck c.1620 {{PD}}

Around 12:30 PM PST the Moon trines Ceres. Let’s call this ‘easy Air,’ as the natural thought processes will mesh smoothly with the emotions and with the intuition–each supports the other, and any authority we hold inherent to our beingness will shine through loud and clear. A great point for ‘showing’ the Self–just be aware that what’s natural to you might not necessarily be either flattering or productive, and modify interaction accordingly. Remember that Merc in Capricorn supports the practical, productive, and contained most effectively.

8 PM the transiting Moon opposes Venus. Here we go! The Venus nature wants to reach out, to head for the horizon, to expand territory–and on a Saturday night that can mean flirting, even hunting, for a mate! The Moon, however, wants to talk about emotions (Gemini), wants to express feeling–and fiery Venus wants to act. It can make for some conflict as we will be prone to choose one vibe or the other as our banner. If you vibe to Venus, remember that a too-free attitude can hurt those to whom you’re committed, while if yours is a Lunar thing keep in mind that talk talk talk, and ‘lighter’ socializing, can wear thin–everyone wants a little substance or excitement once the feelings are aired.

14 January 2011: The Mystic Rectangle, A Battle Plan

My Daily Astrology Diary, Mystic Rectangle, Ophiuchus

If you have a plan things go a lot better G.Cruikshank 'Vinegar Hill' c.1830 {{PD-Art}}

Today there’s a Mystic Rectangle, with the Sun/ Earth axis, Mars (c.Sun) and the Juno opposition to Jupiter/ Uranus (lasts through the 22nd, though without Mars in latter days). This is highly energizing, electrical, lighting up empowerment options, the social sphere, the material situation, and what you have to do to get what you want. Period. This info is enlightening concerning the physical, and is non-negotiable–it is what it is. It will serve to test the suitability of your goals and wishes, will show just how much personal power you possess in relation to the social entities you care about, and will, if you’re honest with yourself, rid you of any shameless power or material or relationship fantasies you’ve continued to carry around despite evidence to the contrary. Use what you’re shown wisely, and accept with humility and courage what you’ve deemed important–it is a true point where we can align what we want with our own willingness to act to get it–and come out the other side more mature, enlightened, and with a successful battle plan–thanks, Mars!

The fuss about Ophiuchus is handled brilliantly here and both Eris Francis of  Planet Waves and Matthew Currie had intelligent thoughts about this eloquently expressed–check them out if you’re curious.

10 January 2011: Arian Challenges

Moon in Aries, My Daily Astrology Diary

Penthesilea as One of the Nine Worthies France c.1460

By 11:30 AM the Moon sextiles Ceres and squares the Nodal axis, bringing us our first Arian challenge: will we do what comes naturally (which is likely what authorities are telling us to do) or will we buck like an unbroke horse with a load of Self-Will cinched on our backs? One choice makes things go really smoothly–you guess which one!

The 2 PM hour PST sees the Moon trine Venus in Fire–yeow! This just feels like the attitude will be on fire! If you don’t have a lot of drive, spirit, and energy at this point, then something is seriously wrong, and it’s almost certainly found in the place t Saturn is suppressing in your chart right now. This suggests a strong need to express that you are holding back on–in essence, it’s a denial of something you truly should bring out and deal with, but your own internal mechanism (likely an ego one, not wanting to rock its secure boat) is in play and working to preserve its place in things. For a few, the suppression will genuinely come from the external–and remedies will be clear.
