James Tissot 'Holyday' c.1876

Just before noon Pacific the Moon squares Pallas; what feels good may not be wise–don’t ignore this in favor of devotion to the pleasure principle–take a very conservative course at this time–wait if possible. Prior to 2 PM PDT the Moon trines Juno, showing us the truly empowering choice–NOW go! 4 PM PDT and the Moon squares Vesta. This points out precisely how our choices (indulgences?) have been inconsistent with our most sacred needs–pay attention and put what we honor back in the forefront.

5:30 PM the Taurus Moon conjuncts Venus–NOW we celebrate, now we enjoy the luxuries, the relationships, the assets and talents–appreciation for the material, for one’s state of abundance, permeates all; it’s soothing, it’s enjoyable, it’s fun–no reason not to appreciate life–for appreciation of what is, and of all that we have, is a prayer of thanks, whether we know we are praying or not.

19th century playing card

Just before 4 PM Pacific the Moon sextiles Chiron; the sense is of almost an insistence on seeing hurt via our relationships to others through material things. We need to realize that our perspective on this issue is not an objective one, but one that has invested objects or assets with an exaggerated meaning; we seem to see the objects as making a statement about how much we are loved (or how much more someone else is loved than we!) A conscious decision to utilize our most unique skills at this point will keep us out of the prickly quagmire, and perhaps even heal an emotional wound that’s been hanging open for some time (and this was probably something we were not too aware of until the Moon came along and brushed up against it, causing the sting!)

The Taurus Moon trines Pluto, 7:30-ish PM PDT, and we have either transformed the emotional outlook or we are picking away furiously at that wound. Ow! Here’s your therapy: Stop it! I joke; if it were that easy we’d all refrain, wouldn’t we? At least don’t dig down to the bone–it’s pointless, and only leaves you exhausted. Instead embrace the Plutonian energy contacted as the energy that will clean out the dross, change things, set you free–and embrace it without fear of oblivion; that’s the only way to access the regenerative qualities of the phoenix.

Just before 4 PM PDT the Moon trines the North Node in Fire, lighting up the emotional consequences of the life direction; suddenly we see where we’re headed, for better or worse :)

It’s a slow day, Lunar-ly speaking.

The Essence for 12 May 2011: An Emotional Blind

Moon in Virgo, My Daily Astrology Diary, The Astro Essence

'Mr and Mrs Andrews' have clearly foregone the blind and are doing their hunting out in the open. Gainsborough c.1760 {{PD-Art}} via Wikimedia Commons

5 AM PDT of the 12th the Moon quincunxes Vesta in Aquarius. The emotional reality may be challenged by the highest ideals and all matters sacred; Adjustment is the best course here–living up to your ‘best Self’ insures no bad aftertaste :)   By 7 AM PDT the Moon is conjunct Juno and quincunx Pallas; this makes us feel, well, emotionally invincible–and yet a soft, interior voice tells us we need to adjust our attitude ‘just so’ in order to remain on the ‘wisdom path.’ Don’t be too proud, or too convinced that inflexibility equals strength, to take advantage of that subtle but very smart guidance.

Just after 6 PM Pacific the Moon trines the Sun in Earth. It’s a point in the day to enjoy your surroundings, eat a good meal, see to your own and others’ physical comfort. This can be a respite that allows regeneration and true rest; no matter what you’re doing at this point, I hope you’ll do something that allows rejuvenation. By 8 PM the Moon trines Sedna, and suddenly we’re in an emotional blind; we may be keenly aware that, like hunters hiding, waiting for prey, we are peering out but we, and our emotional perceptions, really can’t be seen by others–and that may feel lonely and a bit disorienting. Relax, and occupy yourself–like all Moon aspects, this passes with only a few hours effect.

A hunter’s blind is a shelter usually constructed of natural materials, intended to blend into nature, that is located in an area where wildlife is known to gather, and allows hunters to be in close proximity to their prey.

Moon in Pisces, My Daily Astrology Diary, The Astro Essence

'Pierrot and Harlequin' Cezanne 1888 {{PD-Art}}

The Lunar aspects are so sparse for the first day of April that I’m sharing them all, in hopes that we can all avoid foolishness, tomfoolery, being fooled, playing THE fool–but it’s perfectly fine to eat a fool–so there you go!

2 AM of the 1st the Moon opposes Juno, and we are faced with precisely what we must do to attain empowerment or gain the cooperation of others–a good point to pay attention! This lasts through around 10 AM Pacific when the Moon sextiles Sedna, and we experience a brief but possibly big-impact blind spot. The danger is we may walk into things feeling sorted-out and confident from the contact to Juno, and not realize that we are suddenly ‘blind’ in the situation.

8 PM-ish PDT the Moon squares the Nodal axis, and we may feel we’re at an impasse; the emotional ‘read’ is that we’re damned if we do and damned if we don’t. This is a feeling that’s not connected to any actual life circumstances, but more of a momentary embracing of free-floating fear. Let it go and go on with your day.

You might want to catch this show on April 3rd

The Essence for 30 March 2011: Knowing Our Own Minds

There'll be a moment when we can glimpse our own minds clearly 13th Century Turkish {{PD}}

By 2:30 AM PDT the Moon sextiles stationary Mercury–it’s like an emotional thought-pause, and time can stand still. This gives us a glimpse at the mind as it is, without the typical in-motion view that makes it hard to pinpoint what we’re really about mentally. Can show us unusual things about our thinking and give us an objective view about the way we process life.

11:30 AM Pacific sees the Moon at the midpoint of Vesta/ Mars; actions chosen are seen as sacred–we feel their rightness, but must be careful not to throw the ego’s wants into the same sacred basket. 1:30 PM PDT and the Moon is conjunct Neptune–wrapping emotion up in inspiration or fantasy, we fuel ourselves up for a big push forward!

Void occurs at 3:22 PM PDT, with the Moon entering Pisces at 3:38 PM

What Do We Feel Now?

astrology, My Daily Astrology Diary

Tamakatzura Tamatori 19th century

I’m stunned by what’s happening in the world, and I’m sure I’m not the only one. It’s not that I’m so sensitive, it’s that I’m human, and so are you, and we look around and find things happening that we never thought we’d see: massive earthquakes that have devastated Japan and that stretch tentacles across the globe–and that threaten a second tsunami of radiation if meltdown to Japan’s nuclear power plants can’t be averted; the violent deposing of dictators as nation’s seek a new voice; the stripping of worker’s rights in Wisconsin; the ‘business’ of hostage-taking as modern day pirates enter the oldest deal in the world (freedom in exchange for profit) that has international consequences; violence, assassination and assassination attempts predicated on hate-speech; and on and on.

I find myself wondering where astrology falls in all this. It’s a wonderful and useful art for understanding influences within and the system of the Universe without–but when we are in the midst of catastrophe, what place does it have? And the truth is my world is intact–I can feel for others at a distance, but how do I serve them and myself with my art, without seeming to take their trauma or tragedy or simple experience as an exercise, rather than as a human moment of depth and feeling? It feels odd to continue with ‘the usual’–and yet maybe that’s the best answer, to use our skills, all of them, in the best way we know how.

Is what’s happening a reflection of Uranus into Aries? Did it cast a shadow before it that pulled all Uranian energies in its wake, like water down a drain? Is it a reflection of the multiple, long-term 29 degree placements that are so stressful in expression? Is it Ceres/ Chiron with Neptune at their midpoint? I don’t know that there’s any one answer, or even that many factors can explain the state of things; I just know that we must do our very best as individuals, and call forward our faith, no matter what it’s placed in–and my thought is that, starting with Uranus in Aries, we might want to translate that placement as ‘The Group (Uranus) Is One (Aries)’ and live in accord with this new age we’ve entered.
