The Sun will be quincunx my pet theoretical provocateur, h.Zeus, and that suggests that our ambitions and desires will be eating at us, requiring our accommodation, even as we may ignore, misinterpret, or deny our needs–for ambitions are a form of need. Though they may take a shape that’s really not something that should be on our plate (the hopelessly uncoordinated person who aspires to be a world-class athlete, perhaps) they serve to move us forward, to give us a model of perfection in whatever we’re striving for–and thus should be respected, even as we must recognize our own true talents and abilities. Ultimately fulfillment of ambitions and desires becomes a dance between wanting the ideal and what we are–and this aspect offers us a point where, if we are attentive, we can modify our practice to be more effective in moving us toward our goals.

Around 11 PM PST the Moon conjuncts Mars and sextiles Pluto–it’s a major impetus to change and to act to change, with the urge to act focused in the House Mars is now transiting, the House where natal Mars is located and the matters of the House he rules–but the effects may leak out through the positions of transiting Pluto and natal Pluto (and perhaps through the House he rules). It’s a little tricky: though we act over here, in Mars territory, we get effects over here, where Pluto hangs out. Think about to where the results of your actions might funnel before you make a move–it’s not that things will be disastrous, but just that we need to see the chain of reaction rather than just assuming we know how our actions will ‘ripple out.’

Just before 5 AM PST the Aquarius Moon trines retrograde Saturn (and remember, Lunar aspect effects can stretch a couple of hours either side of exact–I name the time close to exact). I usually don’t make much of retrograde or direct–in my view only the turnaround points carry much punch, since we may feel these–otherwise a retrograde stance is simply a perception in relation to the Sun–and so, something of an illusion :) but I want to note that Saturn’s retro as the Moon trines it and, of course, we are still in Dark of the Moon territory–and all that may add up to easily muffled or ignored thoughts about emotions (the ‘thought’ part supplied by the two Air placements). This can also translate as ignoring our intuition or having it ‘drowned out’ by mind chatter or rationalization. Mark this period as a time to refuse to let thought overrun feeling, because the potential to be mislead by our own rationalizations (Saturn) is strong.

The Aquarian Moon translates the energies from Mars to Pluto and vice versa around the 9 o’clock hour AM Pacific–and this may make for some temper and emotionalism that almost seems unexplainable–think of it as two live wires (Mars and Pluto) connecting and having their current carried through the emo nature of the Moon, with one possible scenario consisting of the intuitive nature putting two and two subliminal clues together and it all suddenly making sense–in any case it’s a ‘tempest in a teapot’ since this is happening during the Dark of the Moon–and the Moon’s sextile to Jupiter around 11 AM adds a jolt of exaggeration–but after this the volatility should fade.

Ceres sits at the midpoint of the current Jupiter-Pluto square, feeding the pressure of the social and expansive in conflict with the dark, the secret, the mysterious, and the forces of change into issues of authority and the maternal or nurturing. We may see our Jupiter-Pluto energy funneled into our nurturing roles (and these can be the nurture of just about anything, though with the Ceres placement in Aquarius we may be trying to get something intellectual or avant garde on its feet) or we may see our authority or Mommy-related secrets become very very public. In any case, what we need to know is that issues involving Ceres’ subjects will be the outlet for the clash of the lord of the Underworld and the supreme god, and Mother Nature will absorb the impact–and perhaps, give or withhold ‘permission’ to deal successfully.

Dark of the Moon begins around 12:30 PM PST of the 1st; it’s an invitation to relax, meditate, and, with the Moon in Aquarius, think.

The Sag Moon makes only two more noteworthy aspects before it leaves the sign: a square to Juno just after midnight Pacific time, then a square to Uranus at 29 degrees, by 9:30 AM PST of the 26th. This period may in some way encapsulate our current personal struggle (and whether we have been conscious of it or not, we have been in a struggle of sorts, where in some form we have been figuring out our relationship to the group or to a larger entity that feels like it wants a piece of us). This effort to work out our interaction with something larger (and this may simply be our psychic perception of the entity, not a reality) has been taking a toll, especially on our nerves (Uranus at 29 degrees). What we see at this point will pinpoint the heart of the matter, and lay out our personal dilemma–see what’s presented, and believe what you see, as the resolution of this could mark a turning point in several Uranus and Juno related areas.

By 5:30 PM Pacific we’re energized (sextile to Mars) but we don’t really hit our stride until about 12:30 AM PST of the 27th, when the Moon conjuncts Pluto, squares Jupiter, and is within sextile of the Sun. This brings a very serious moment, likely keyed to matters of the House where Pluto is currently transiting: we see ‘it’ clearly, and our emotions ring true as bells. Can change us, in some way that stays forever after–so take care.

I’m going to skip the Lunar picture for today (it’s just not terribly compelling) in favor of a few bits about the recent Mars/ Chiron meet-up. It brought forward a lot of passive-aggressive interaction, attempts to wound dressed up in New Age garb/ or academic authority and ‘rightness’/ or as being new and innovative (all Aquarian forms) and characterizing those who resist as Self-absorbed individuals (negative Leo) blocking progress–and all this is designed and presented in such as way as to make it so we are unable to respond without looking like we’re the aggressors! (Ah, the power of passive projection!)

But, the way to meet this is to adopt a Jupiter in Aries attitude; become the warrior unafraid of freedom, of expressing, of showing the social sphere exactly who we are. The key is honesty–with yourself, with others, in all you do–along with a true intention of harmlessness. Adopt these and it’s like being some kind of superhero; not only do the aggressions of others bounce harmlessly off you, but you are moved to change your own interaction approach, as well–and bring about some extraordinary healing by taking out-of-the-ordinary actions (a perfect expression of Mars/ Chiron in Aquarius).

The Moon squares Neptune, 1:30 AM PST, and we are faced with the usual bogey-men: delusion, deception, disappointment (for those times we get a glimpse through the Neptunian fog!) and negative or unrealistic fantasy (as opposed to fantasies that could be!) This is followed quickly by the Moon’s final aspect in Scorpio, a trine to Uranus, making it easy to rebel, innovate and invent, get with the group, or make it all academic, at one remove from real life. The combo of this one-two punch need not be too harsh–remember, both these influences in their negative forms are like the devil: he can’t make you do something, you have to succumb to your own willingness to participate in a less than honest way.

Of course, Merc/ Sun is sextile Pluto–we can’t help but see and know things others might prefer we didn’t–use what you receive wisely, and with an eye to how you might want things to play out if you were on the other end of things–as with someone else, you might be :) Also, h.Zeus at 13 Libra is square Vesta at 13 Capricorn; this might prompt us to be too reverent of our own and others ambitions and desires–or it could make us challenge others, feeling we know what should be revered! A touchy vibe, all around. The Moon sextiles h. Zeus by 4 AM of the 25th, bringing aid as to the ‘correct’ approach via the emotions.

It’s smooth going until just before 11:30 AM PST when the Moon hits a rough patch, this one starring a square to Ceres. Authority figures, maternal figures, and/ or those who see themselves as having a right to call the shots in your life will assert themselves–and whether what they communicate is appropriate to their role or out-of-line, it will rub us the wrong way. The irony is that each of us will likely do the same for someone else–so awareness counts :)

Just after 8 PM PST the Moon hits the midpoint of the Juno/ Pallas trine in Earth. Finally! We find not just some clarity, but a firm grounding for a sense of emotional security. A nice balance between Self-empowerment and our wisdom/ guidance set is available, and it gives us some peace. Pay attention at this point–it offers a sensibility that will be good to recall when we’re under the influence of more distorting energies.

Today and the coming few after will be whoppers–aggression, misunderstanding, and unreasonable expectations will abound. Will the Lunar influence offer any relief? Not really. We kick the 22nd off, Pacific time, in ultra-late Libra in aspect to a tense duo: Mars and Uranus, both at 29 degrees. It all feels like an emotional emergency that others (especially our partners–Libra) must do something about. The Void begins at 12:36 AM PST as the Moon moves away from her trine to Mars–and this suggests that if our partner or others do make a move, as requested, we might be very surprised by what it is! A Void says we can’t anticipate results–truly the case here.

Moon enters Scorpio at 1:29 AM PST and, unless we’re both ultra-controlled and totally able to be honest with ourselves and others, we will be both looking to sting and receiving same from those around us–ouch! The tone is set with an immediate trine to Mercury/ Chiron and along with the South node this creates a Grand Trine–emotions are intense, overwhelming, mingled with the primal wound and the past, and all this will be too easy to communicate and share with others.

I feel like there might be a ‘dual level’ energy flow going on today: one keyed to Juptier-Pluto, and one to the Lunar picture, which I think might be, if not more subtle, certainly more irritating, slipping beneath conscious thought and troubling us like a burr under your clothing–every once in a while we’ll move just right and ow! it will sting, hurt, scratch, and we will dig furiously to find it–and the next moment it will seem not to be there at all! When the Moon reaches conjunction to Saturn (around 3 AM PST) we will see the consequences of our behavior (attitudes with origins in the previous twelve hours)–or perhaps be stopped by an outside force from indulging in it.

By 9 AM Pacific the Moon squares Venus–and we take ‘it’ out on relationships, or, if we’re really on a Self-destructive tear, finances. Please please please ignore that lashing-out impulse–even and especially if it disguises itself as ‘getting something done’ There’s also at this point a trine from Moon to Ceres, suggesting that abuse of authority may be very easy to come by. Note too that Merc is at 29 degrees–in a worst case scenario our mouth may runneth over.
