If we clear up the impediments to manifestation, then we’ll think it and it is–which means we’d better be careful what we put our attention on. Christen Dalsgaard 1868 {{PD}}

We think it and it happens–or at least, we do it–and yet the wisdom upon which our choices are based is both oddly anachronistic, even straight from the past, and disempowering, somehow. There are two things going on that are creating this discord out of what seemed an almost magical facility for translating thought to action: one is the way we are in rebellion against our own ambitions (and so taking a contrary approach, as if we’re being forced to want what we want!) and two, our attention really needs to be going toward matters we’ve been ignoring or denying, or that have filled us with rage–even though we keep thinking we don’t have to address them, just yet. The remedies? Be clear on the ways in which you are undermining, even rejecting, what you know you want; and deal with those matters that can no longer be ignored–the denied energies are permeating us and our intentions, without our awareness, and robbing us of this brief window where we can think it, and make it so (Pallas nov SN, Uranus opp Zeus, Merc parallel Mars and sq Juno, Sun sesq Black Moon Lilith)

Attempts to expand, or to learn (a new skill, ‘the facts’, the details, what else is ‘out there’) may occupy us today, but the larger question we need to answer first is, ‘Where do we hope to go?’ We may be so wrapped up in negating a wound, or proving our worth through exercise of talents, that we fail to consider whether what we’re doing really matters to us. Believe in something, so that hurt doesn’t drive you (Perfecting today: Jupiter opp Chiron)

Full Moon in Virgo 22 February 2016 We Get Our Answer

‘Woman Reading a Letter’ 1660-1662 Gerard ter Borch {{PD}}

The Full Moon occurs at 10:19 AM PST at 3 Virgo 33. A Full Moon is an ending, a culmination of what came before both in the passage of time and in the emotional history, and signals a conclusion, especially a conclusion of feeling based in the Moon (emotions) reaching a point of maximum visibility. We tend to see the point of things, to realize that the situation is complete, over, no longer viable. And we let it go, or we allow the conclusions reached to fuel change.

This Full Moon is semi-square Zeus, yet too wide for us to count a quincunx with Venus, though we might need to count the exceptionally wide (for a Moon event) opposition of the Moon-Earth to Sun-Neptune-Ceres, with the latter two only 29 minutes apart at 9 Pisces. The mild but noticeable contact to Zeus implies that ambitions or the desire nature are receiving some sort of answer, with FM events pointing to an end place for something we want–and of course, this can be because we get it, or because we don’t, and see that it will never be ours.

The Moon-Sun complex suggests this: what has pushed us forward has been some combination of creative energy, delusion, lies, spiritual quest, ideals, power needs, authority issues, a search to establish territory, and the desire to control. These have formed the fait accompli we see with the Full Moon, with its Virgo location suggesting practical results, an accounting, and/ or a harvest.

The FM Sabian is, ‘Black And White Children Play Together Happily’, clearly a suggestion that the FM brings a state of integration, harmony, balance, parity. Whether this is internal or external for you depends generally on whether the FM falls below the horizon (internal) or above the horizon (external) in the natal chart.

For a Full Moon we also look at the Sun’s Sabian, as the Sun is, after all, the symbolic source for the energy that creates FM circumstances (as well as the literal agent of light): ‘Heavy Car Traffic On A Narrow Isthmus Linking Two Seashore Resorts’ This again brings forward the idea of happiness or play (the resorts), linked by movement between them (a kind of sharing of like material, symbolized by the people we can assume are traveling in the cars). The idea may be that it’s in making the effort to get together in the first place that the two opposing or disparate elements (symbolized by the Black and White Children) find a way to happily interact, and pinpoint commonalities.

The star of the show, however, is a loose Fist of God (or Thor’s Hammer, for the Nordic enthusiasts among us) that names the FM apex with a base of long-term on again, off again Cardinal square Pluto-Uranus. This square has been analyzed to death, and though it takes a particular form for each individual, we can say this: the forces of individuality and/ or the group in relation to the individual, and facets of uniqueness, originality, and rebellion are awakened in service to the individual Will or identity (Aries), and clash with, not the need for change, but the actual changes themselves (a fine point, but an important one) in any and all structures, rules, and boundaries related to Capricorn and the House containing transiting Pluto, as well as the House it rules natally, in the chart.

So, it’s the changes that the individual responds to that go on to create even further change, new rules, new boundaries, new structures, that help shape the individuality and allow harmonious interaction with factors from which one once remained separate, and the Full Moon events comment on this: we see some conclusion related to integration of disparate elements that’s either practical, draws criticism, or in either positive or negative form is a kind of ‘harvest’ (which is simply the result of what’s been ‘planted’ previously). This Full Moon may reveal what we have constructed from our own unique sensibilities in response to changes in the rules and structures within which we normally function. We have made it work, as Mr. Gunn says, though it hasn’t been easy (or perhaps not–we may simply take a pounding–the Fist); but with this FM event we get an answer that acts as a conclusion: to a dream, to a lie, to a desire, and from there we must determine our next step.

John Singer Sargent – ‘Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose’ c1885 {{PD}}

This weekend we have only minor perfections on Saturday, the 20th of February 2016, with Venus semi-square Chiron and the Sun semi-square Pluto. It may feel like something is going terribly wrong, somewhere out of sight–and though it causes tension there’s no way to get a handle on it, and so little to do about it. If we can accept that our unease is not ready to be named, we can enjoy the day without driving ourselves batty.

By Sunday the 21st the story changes. We’ll be focused on ambitions, desires, and goals (Sun sesquiquadrate Zeus) but likely only see the problems in attaining them, and even though thoughts and external messages are overall both healing and wise (Merc nov Chiron and conjoined Pallas) we are prone, probably out of some perceived frustration, to act against our own instincts and to misunderstand or misconstrue our own power or role (Mars opp Sedna, Neptune conjoined Ceres). That drives our efforts toward getting more, getting ‘better’, or correcting situations so we can gain (Venus sesq Jupiter), and by the end of the day we may have more or less gotten the hang of it: modify our approach in relationships, in artistic expression, or in earning, in order to apply critical assessment (Jupiter in Virgo) and wrap our heads around how to profit thereby (Venus in Aquarius). Not a tidy or easily applied formula, but one that can give us focus within a whole lot of other, not so user-friendly influences.

To start our week Monday the 22nd we find we must make very deliberate adjustments again, this time to choices on the life Path (Venus sesq NN). Caveats involve not overestimating our natural abilities or role (Juno contraparallel Sedna) and the necessity of perpetrating no illusions to ourselves or others about our priorities, commitments, and values (Neptune semi-square Vesta). The trick this time is to excavate those brilliant thoughts, ideas, and knowledge bits from the past that will be just right, right now (Merc nov SN).

We may be plagued by rage or those matters we have ignored or denied even exist, and so believe hurt is inevitable–but if we’ll just be honest about things, face what needs facing, and accept that, though we should’ve handled this in the past there’s no need for recriminations–we can direct our time and energy, with just a little effort and a willingness to be flexible, toward cleaning up or resolving those too-long-ignored matters. Use creativity, imagination, and compassion to heal and deal–these efforts will be especially effective within partnerships (Perfecting today: Chiron in Pisces quincunx Black Moon Lilith in Libra)

Today’s word image is one of those skimmer-bugs that shimmy across a pond. Are you skimming over something you should be more attentive to? Or are you failing to realize just how much emotional support you are receiving, and the buoyance, both spiritual and mental, this affords? Do you expect yourself or another to ‘walk on water’? Appreciation of and attention to what surrounds you is the Taurean-themed idea today, suggesting the prominence astrologically of Sedna (instinct, what we know but are unaware of, or what we should know but which sits in our ‘blind spot’, out of reach)

Doing or accepting something that hurts may be the smart thing–or is it that we must allow healing, either because it’s practical or because it’s wise? Which of the potential alternatives is for you depends, apart from your actual situation, on two things: how clearly and accurately your thought processes are assessing the road ahead, and what you’re dreaming about. With the former you must weigh how well you’ve done this in the past as well as how independent the intellect is at present from the emotions and external influences, in order to have some idea how accurate your projections ahead are, and with the latter I don’t mean literally (though for a certain number of you, dreams will of late have been an excellent window into the psyche), I mean what are you fantasizing for your future? Answering (and at the very least gleaning a keener understanding of yourself) will tell you whether you must be open to some hurt, or must make efforts to heal–one or the other is a necessary step today, no matter what else is going on (Chiron nov Pallas, Merc sesq NN, Sun enters Pisces/ Earth enters Virgo)

‘Bathers’ 1908 Kazimir Malevich {{PD}}

Our highest values and those things we honor (like the home front and our mate)  offer smart and practical guidelines to choice and action today, and we have a certain knack for originality in venues where we express our power or authority–so what’s not working? Our relationships and financial priorities might be almost too grounded in the reality picture–that is, we might be too quick to accept limits or that ‘that’s just the way it is’, and messages, especially feedback from the social sphere, or the facts of any matter, may be oddly hurtful, wounding without any discernible reason. We may be too open without knowing it to the nebulous hurt of the Collective, and find ourselves attaching that undefined pain to what we hear or think–the solution may be to stop paying so much attention to concrete boundaries and see to the psychic ones each of us must have in place for our own health and happiness (Vesta parallel Pallas, Uranus nov Ceres, Venus semi-square Saturn, Mercury semi-square Chiron and sesq Jupiter)

For the outlook for the 16th, please see the previous post. Thank you, and have a great day!

Today’s word image is protective netting blown off new garden seedlings by the wind. Is the wind a destructive element in your world, or a productive one? Do you shelter from it, curse it for desiccating your crops, hang your laundry to dry in it, or place your wind turbine in it to produce energy? Winds are, above all else, manifestations of change, whether that be barometric, historical, or personal shifts in fortune. What in your life is inevitably changing, and what ‘seedlings’ must you protect during that change?

'In den Dünen' Gari Melchers 1891 {{PD}}

Before enlightenment . . . well, you know the rest. ‘In den Dünen’ Gari Melchers 1891 {{PD}}

I want to look at Black Moon Lilith (confused about this point? The first few paragraphs here will help) specifically as a ‘justice indicator’. She’s known for her rage, a temper that is often portrayed (did someone say ‘patriarchy’?) as simple vindictiveness at not getting her way; in actuality it was the result of being unjustly judged and treated, of being painted unfairly by others who hold all the power, both literally so and to make myths–hence at least a portion of her bad rap.

This point in the natal chart could be where you are sensitive to injustices related to the House where this falls, or the essentials of the body or bodies it aspects, or it could be a ‘temper trigger’ by transit, could show what you refuse to claim in the form of anger or ignored matters, or it could indicate where you have shown anger and been ‘cast out’ in some way, just as Lilith was from the garden of Eden, or where an exclusion or denial has birthed anger within you. Consider that your BML is a touchstone to those matters that enrage, and that this points to angers denied, unacknowledged, and unexplored. Think of how much energy you would free up if you were aware of the implications of your Black Moon Lilith. And then try to enjoy your Valentine weekend, without getting all up in Lilith’s junk.

If we’re behaving consciously, we’ll see that we get and give what’s just, over this period:

The 13th suddenly talk gets intellectual, but look behind the high-flown ideas: they’re all about the material world. Leading up to Valentine’s Day we see an unusual amount of harmony between men (or animus-dominant individuals) and women (or anima-heavy persons)–or is it more of an impulse for identification with what we consider our opposite? And yet those anima forces are powerful, grounded, and attuned to the reality picture–maybe animus-dominant types are feeling the need for some softness and receptivity, and sensing the activity and strength in their anima counterparts, loosen up (Mars parallel Ceres and sxt Jupiter, Venus parallel Saturn and Pluto and nov Ceres, Merc enters Aquarius and semi-sq Saturn, Sun sq Sedna)

By the 14th we see a very interesting dynamic manifest: honoring what’s sacred is the only way to build our future; without following this principle, our attempts to expand, socialize, learn, or ‘get more’ run aground (Vesta parallel NN, Jupiter qnx Vesta–learn about Vesta here)

15 February we are feeling strong and rarin’ to go–in particular, it’s easy to make changes–what we do with that energy is our own choice, though if we’re not careful we may be inclined to repeat the past (Mars trine SN, Sun nov Pluto)

The 16th our dreams, ideals, relationships, and/ or wants come under scrutiny, but take care: our approach to dream makin’ may be a little too cool to accommodate what otherwise would fill us with inspiration and desire. Awareness that home, mate, and even those concepts and causes we idealize should be accepted in spite of their flaws will make it all go more smoothly (and exponentially raise our chances of achieving what we’ve been dreaming of ) (Vesta qnx NN, Venus enters Aquarius and nov Neptune)

The word image for this period is a literal bucket of rain. The expression ‘make it rain’ means, of course, abundance freely shared–but for the person in the midst of a flood, it may mean further disaster. What do you have an abundance of to share freely, what do you have too much of, to the point of washing your life away, and what does having a ‘contained emotional response’ (the water–emotion–in the bucket) to things offer us in terms of future benefit, portability of feeling, or restraint?

Cardinals in the anteroom of the Vatican–trying to listen in, of course. By Henri Adolphe Laissement 1895 {{PD}}

Today the seen and unseen worlds whisper to us–of Love, of treasure, of what’s lost, forgotten, or suppressed, through a lexicon of instincts and primordial knowing, of what could be, of what we imagine, of ideal futures and re-imagined pasts, beneath the words actually presented–and though these messages may be hard to grasp, we will see them delivered somehow through the material world, as well as the psychic one. Relationships can be tricky, best navigated on a combination of instinct and response to the real-world choices of the Other. In all situations, that means if we’re unsure of what we intuit, suspect, feel, or sense, we can parse the concrete situation for the same info, though it may be obscured by words or chatter or rote thought patterns, or our perception may be influenced by our disposition toward what’s delivering the message–we’d be wise to keep in mind McLuhan’s advice, that the medium is the message (Perfecting today: Venus trine Sedna and nov Saturn, Merc nov Neptune)

No really, that’s the advice: use your imagination. Some of us develop a low tolerance for the meandering kind of invention and fancy we entertained daily as children; now would be a good time to revive it. Earnings, relationships, artistic expression, Love, they all turn on a receptivity to the creative urge. Inspiration will seek concrete form; it’s up to you to make it happen (Venus semi-sq Neptune)
