The AstroEssence: 4 September relationship demands, what we want, and our means of earning may all violate the needs of the home front, the mate, highest values, or those things we find sacred—and yet our minds are set, and unwilling to bend to accommodate those values or needs. We find ourselves in a spot that feels restricted and that seems contrary to what we would normally want or support—but this is when we ask ourselves if that’s really true. A review of our actual priorities, and of what’s truly restricting us, is in order. (Perfecting today: Venus contra-parallel Vesta, Mercury semi-square Saturn)
Lunar movement: 11 AM PDT the Capricorn Moon trines the Sun, giving us a period of clarity. Note what you’re aware of now, and how you perceive it, as your viewpoint is likely accurate (unless the figurative Sun is in your eyes!) 3 PM PDT the Moon opposes Juno and sextiles Vesta. Are we butting heads needlessly? That’s the question–anything that doesn’t directly empower and respect our values should be let go. This is the beginning of an Earth Grand Cross with Juno, Uranus, and Zeus; the Moon also sextiles Chiron. We are trying to assert the Self and balance this need with our chances for ambition fulfillment–the unexpected gets in the way, and our own wounds, or our fear of hurting others, make us hesitant. This all happens in ways that affect the material situation. Going after what you want is fine, as long as you are acutely aware of where your territory ends and that of others begins; accomplishment only comes when we operate with full knowledge of others’ rights and privileges. 9 PM PDT the Moon sextiles Saturn. This is a point when we can give emotions structure and containment; make sure they take fluid, rather than rigid, shapes.
Grand Trine with Vesta-Juno-Chiron=This reinforces the idea that to successfully empower ourselves we need to be sensitive to the wounds and sacred places of others, as well as making sure our choices honor our Chirotic gifts and our own priorities.
Today’s image is a cave-dwelling salamander that lives in the dark and breathes through its skin. Look for unusual ways to accomplish the usual and necessary; this will evolve talents with little effort.

It may seem like it’s all about power this Solar year, dear Virgo, but it’s really about the power of feeling. You’ll be insanely good at understanding power structures, at translating intangible expressions of power into their material world equivalents, at knowing the power and meaning behind expressions of feeling, and at making an impact with your own emotional expressions–but what will that mean? Following the power curve will almost certainly deliver skills, wisdom, and opportunities–a lot of them. Embracing power in whatever form you find it will lead to awesome things–so you go, Virgo! Happy Birthday, and good luck!

What was once rock solid in your life will be changing, Virgo. – by Fritz Petzholdt – ‘Étude de roches’ c1830 {{PD}}

You may be caught, dear Virgo, between the need to Do It Big and the need to Do It Smart–and either way you know that big change is on the way. It’s almost impossible for anyone to know which direction you should jump–and yet, when you think about it, you’ll know that the way to go is toward the actions that will put the power in your hands, that will allow you choice, and that will help you handle whatever changes to the structure and parameters of your life that are almost upon you. That said, if you do your homework, you can gain a great deal of personal power–and with power, of course, come options, something you will really value having in the coming year, through to your next birthday. So, I wish you a happy one, Virgo, and good luck!

You have plans, dear Virgo, to expand your world somehow, and you know what you’re creating is smart–but do you know how it might affect home and family? Relationships and finances could unexpectedly suffer, not through any fault of your own, but because there are some big changes just ahead that will alter the lay of the land–and so mess with your well-laid plans. Watch both the natal House where Pluto is currently transiting and the House Pluto rules in the natal chart for the life areas where the disruptions will come from, and in the meantime, gather allies and reinforce relationships with your current diplomatic but sophisticated manner–you can charm the birds out of the trees right now, so put that bedazzled personality to good use. Happy Birthday, Virgo, and good luck!

Wisdom is yours, dear Virgo–or is it your burden? You may be cursed with extra clear and cautious foresight this coming Solar year, through to your next birthday, and considering you’ll have a lot of natural power and authority going for you, it could be the time when you make considerable strides, even make your fortune (as in creating the foundations of the life you were destined for); on the other hand, it won’t win you any friends, as your judgment may be so superior that you could make them look bad with your choices, or you find it impossible to go along with them on flights of fancy or recklessness, or can’t bring yourself to participate with them in what you know will end up a non-starter. It’s tough being a demi-god. Play your cards close to the vest, remain extra aware of and considerate of your friends, and soon enough your keen powers of discernment, observation, and judgment will go back to normal human levels, and everyone can live happily ever after. Happy Birthday, Virgo, and good luck!

Others turn to you this coming Solar year, dear Virgo, through to your next birthday, but is it because you’re wise, or connected to Nature, or creative and imaginative, or is it your practicality that draws them in? You may be seen as having all the answers, but the reality is that you’re just better at knowing what’s important, at sorting out possibilities, and at extrapolating consequences–and you’ll help many many people in the time between now and your birthday in 2015. You’re not entirely selfless, though your diplomatic nature appears so; what you’ll gain is your pick of partners, collaborators, supporters, and even romantic interests–lonely is one thing you won’t be, within just a few months. Happy Birthday, Virgo, and good luck!

Don’t abdicate, for instance, your responsibility to put that fire out. from ‘The Chronicles of St. Denis’ 12th century Artist unknown {{PD}}

From ‘Attachments—Asking Why’, an article on relationships in the current ECLIPSE:

We’ve talked about Ceres’ sex-deadening energy specifically when it contacts the Mars, chart ruler, or Sun or Sun ruler of a male from a female’s chart, or within a same sex interaction in either person’s chart to the other’s, but Ceres can bring her overwhelming Earth Mama or directly maternal vibe by moving aspect, and so temporarily put a damper on drives, unless the individuals can relate to an elemental form of sexuality—if the involved individuals are too civilized, too strongly identify caring with mothering, or are too frightened of Nature and natural behaviors (these make some people feel out-of-control), then a Ceres transit can really gum things up, the worst part being that one might feel the change is permanent, rather than transitory.

Just a Little Lunar Essence for 30 August: the Moon enters Scorpio at 1:53 AM Pacific time of the 30th. 1 PM PDT the Moon trines Neptune. We are open to deep feeling, inspiration, and creative change–whatever moves you at this point is likely to be very positive–unless you let yourself be mislead. Vet your ideas by imagining potential outcomes; if they’re all good, you’ve got a green light. 3 PM PDT the Moon conjuncts Ceres and trines Earth. We connect with our power by connecting, literally, with the earth. Garden, work with clay, walk outside barefoot, swim in a natural body of water, plant something–it will bring power, balance, and peace.

31 August relationships may support us, and our money and/ or talent supports our skills, but only if we refuse to dwell on our wounds or to think like losers! At this time the world really is ours to make of it what we will; don’t abdicate your immense power to declare your territory as your own in favor of playing victim or out of a mistaken belief that it’s egotistical to declare yourself—there’s nothing modest or virtuous about pretending to be weaker or more confused than we actually are. (Perfecting today: Venus semi-square Pallas, Mercury contra-parallel Chiron and semi-square Vesta, Earth trine Ceres)

Dear Virgo, this Solar year, through to your next birthday, it appears you’ll connect to your natural talents and powers more completely than ever before. Your gifts and natural authority will wisely combine to create a presence, a level of practical skills, and a kind of life performance unprecedented for you. You’ll profit most by careful action that uses an equal mix of instinct and courage (as in having the bravery to deal with things you’d normally turn away from); this will take you far, most especially if you make effective communication in everything you do your aim. Happy Birthday, Virgo, and good luck!

You are in prime creative time, dear Virgo, and receive a mandate, this Solar year through to your next birthday, to translate your dreams and creative ideas into some sort of material manifestation. You have a personal sense of power and authority during this period that will allow you to carry off projects that at other times would intimidate you, and your effect on others will be to impress them with your inspired potential. Too, you’ll find a receptive audience, and all the cooperation and support you could ask for, with every creative project you bring into being. The biggest friction for you this coming year could be found in dealings with your opposite number, whether that’s the mate, a rival creator, or those supportive others–they’ll offer aid, but at a price, and it may be up to you to decide whether what they demand is worth what they can give. Happy Birthday, Virgo, and good luck!

Dear Virgo, it’s time for you to take an inventory of your assets, talents, and abilities, because for the coming Solar year, through to your next birthday, you will be dealing with various facets of Self-expression and finances–and the better you know yourself, the more likely you will be to make a string of successes, rather than near misses. You need to embrace your own power, your own authority to create the environment you want–you seem to be hesitating, especially when it comes to relationships or spending–who convinced you that modesty and only taking a dab and oh no more that’s enough for me was not just a virtue, but the only way to be liked in life? Believe me, the same people will like you who liked you before, but now, if you manage to assert yourself without restrictions, you will be able to share some wonderful times with them, will attract a whole new set of admirers, and what’s more, you’ll have the luxury of asking yourself, do I like them? Excluding those who are unkind to you is the prerogative of those who are both Self-sufficient and confident in who they are–and it’s your chance this year to be both, Virgo. Happy Birthday, and good luck!
