The Essence for 11-12 June 2011: A Blank Canvas

Fill this weekend's canvas with anything you want. Rembrandt {{PD-Art

Talk about a blank canvas: this weekend there is a Void almost the entire day Saturday Pacific time (with Moon entering Scorpio at 5:34 PM PDT); then there are no Lunar aspects between a 3:30 AM sextile of the Moon to Pluto on the 12th, and an 11:30 PM sextile to Juno. It seems like a weekend to let go of all our usual moorings–so that’s my suggestion, Lunar-ly-speaking.

The Essence for 10 June 2011: Dual Grand Trines

Just playing with words: dual/ duel by Repin 1899 {{PD-Art}}

4:30 PM Pacific and the Moon trines Pallas, and begins a Grand Trine where it will move on to contact Mercury by trine in Gemini. This grouping will last through 9:30 or so PDT, and promises excellent emotional communication; we’ll know what to say, how to say it, and read ourselves and others accurately. If you have something to tell someone, now’s the time.

By 11:30 PM PDT there’s a new Grand Trine formed, with the Moon, Sun, and Vesta. This illuminates who we are, how we feel, and what’s important to us; we consider to what we dedicate our lives, and can draw direct parallels to our identity and choices. This is an affirmation of the Soul’s purpose; if we aren’t busy seeing the way our values have played out in our lives, then we may want to re-consider both what we’ve chosen and how we see ourselves.

Moon enters Libra 3:31 PM PDT. This forms a Finger of God with a base of Jupiter sextile Neptune, as well as a trine to Venus. This suggests that if we are working the social arena and/ or the expansion plans well in co-operation with either the creative flow and/ or our most characteristic Neptunian energies (see the natal chart for details on this) we will open the intuition wide and strong, especially as it applies to the Arts, to aesthetics, and to relationship (Libra). Can earn, open to reward, embrace love, or, in a worst case scenario, become jealous of what you think others have. Just remember, you don’t know what it’s like to be them :)

Intuition may wear little wings and no pants. Ferdinand Leeke {{PD-Art}}

Keep in mind Venus is in the 29th degree of one of her own signs, and none-too happy about leaving it for the airy, chatty Gemini. Expect some mild crises in relationships, material matters, or financial ones, with the emphasis likely on whether they are providing that Taurean reassurance we value right now.

Just after 9 AM PDT the Virgo Moon squares Mercury in Gemini, making for conflicts that seem as if they’re grounded in facts, details, and accounting, but they’re really emotional, pure and simple. Everyone may be too quick to speak their minds; in fact, we’re likely to speak before we know our minds. Caution is in order.

6 PM Pacific the Moon conjoins Juno and the two are an arm to a T-square with the Sun/ Earth axis. The current Juno position suggests we have been seeking empowerment through reflection on and working on life purpose and the material circumstances that will advance our agenda; now the Moon comes along and chimes in: we are given an emotional take on our efforts and the situation, and a bonus: intuition is now speaking, loud and clear, offering a precise and detailed critique. Listen.

The Essence for 7 June 2011: A Virgoan Accounting

Klimt 'Cradle' c.1910 {{PD-Art}}

Void begins at 8:28 AM PDT, with the Moon entering Virgo at 12:33 PM PDT.  As always, first things we must deal with these days are Neptune (opposed) and Jupiter (trine), and both are fresh and a little chappy, like a newborn’s behind–no matter how we try to soothe them, to ease into the energies, we’re likely to find them just a touch fussy. The Virgo Moon may want to apply her well-developed (like muscles!!) critical faculties to imaginative ventures, creative projects, or in assessing ideals–and that just won’t go over well with a Neptune that wants only to be immersed in his own nebulous, creative, but detached-from-reality viewpoint. Neptune in Pisces insists on being embraced in an All-is-One, no boundaries way, and the Virgo Moon finds that, well, maybe a little frightening; the Moon needs at this time to take an accounting, to know exactly where she stands–and Neptune will allow none of it.

As to Jupiter, this aspect suggests that the drama between the Moon and Neptune will pour out right into the social sphere–get it? Pour, sphere? Like a huge fishbowl, we’ll find our creative conflicts and the space between our needs and our ideals on display in our typical social arena. That’s no fun, but the social sphere will be more sympathetic to the Virgoan needs than we might at first think, and that means we need not suffer embarrassment or feel that we’ll be seen as low on Neptune (dull and lacking creativity)–there will be an understanding that pinning down the material particulars is necessary–in fact, many may find an acknowledgment that we can’t be creative without them.

The Essence for 6 June 2011: Rocket Fuel!

Tags

So your week probably won't be this exciting/ stressful, but you are likely to be ready and willing to tackle your goals {{PD}}

The Moon sextiles Saturn, just before 2 AM of the 6th, Pacific time. This connects the emotional experience neatly to reality, grounding us for the week ahead. A sextile to h.Zeus around 5:30 AM PDT awakens our ambitions and desire nature–so we’re grounded, and we’ve got our rocket fuel! For those who want to hit the ground running, this is the perfect set-up; for everyone else, it may feel like the Leo Moon and her contacts are pointing out just what slackers we are! Don’t take it personally–this just happens to be a time keyed to those who are highly motivated and very much Self-driven–it’s not an indictment of those who take things a little easier.

10:30 AM Pacific the Moon sextiles the Sun and opposes Pallas, shining a light on emotional needs–and unfortunately we may feel that what we need for emotional fulfillment is in direct contradiction to what is wise. This is an illusion of placement–where it’s our vantage point that makes us think the unwise thing will be the fulfilling one–so in this case do what you know to be wise, and emotional satisfaction will follow on its own.

The Essence for 5 June 2011: Foolishness Triggered

von Honthorst 1625 'The Matchmaker' {{PD-Art}}

The Moon enters Leo at 8:03 AM PDT of the 5th. The quincunx to Neptune is of course immediate and may be a little startling, as it draws our attention away from ourselves and our personal concerns (Leo) and toward our personal Neptune issues, centered in the matters of the House Neptune is currently transiting and/ or the placement of our natal Neptune and what he rules. This can go in so many directions it’s hard to pinpoint; I’d just venture that what we’re concerned with is highly personal and highly meaningful, as this aspect asks us to modify something we feel strongly about in order to shape it more to our ideals–a good influence if we can respond without digging in our heels over minor details (or a major need for change!)

The Moon also squares Jupiter, new in Taurus, at this point. It’s almost like a brief return to junior high–what we have in relation to what everyone else in our circle has suddenly becomes a matter of not just interest but pride. This could trigger foolish spending (with Venus in Taurus and also body of latest degree) or could lead to actual conflict over resources; at the very least it might bring a little primping and strutting for the crowd, while even the most modest of us will want to look good :)

Romance comes in all shapes and sizes {{PD}} Illustration from pre-1923 version of 'Hey Diddle Diddle'

Just before 6 PM PDT the Moon sextiles Sedna, and there are a few hours where we’re ‘flying blind.’ Relaxing is the best answer to this. By 8 PM Pacific the Moon is quincunx the North Node–we’re still in the shadow of that Sedna aspect, and that means that though we may be prompted to make corrections to the life direction, we aren’t perceiving things clearly–hold back for awhile.

By 9:30 PM PDT the Moon sextiles Venus–ah! We’ve got our values back in sight! There might be a little June spoonin’ as well :)

The Void begins at 10:33 PM Pacific. The Moon enters Leo at 8:03 AM PDT of the 5th.

The Essence for 3 June 2011: Plutonian Choice

Master of Osservanza 'St. Anthony tempted by the devil in the guise of a woman' Gee, you'd think the wings would be a give-away. c.1435 {{PD-Art}

11 AM PDT the Moon trines Chiron; it’s easy to feel hurt, but also easy to summon a healing emotional state–your choice (and you know which one I recommend :) ) By 1 PM the Moon opposes Pluto. Our response to this may involve both our previous choices concerning Chiron, and the situation of current transiting Pluto in our natal chart; we may embrace the destructive as the quickest way to arrive at a clean slate, but this would be an approach that throws the baby out with the bathwater and leaves us exhausted. If we have chosen a more positive route, this aspect musters transformative energy to our bidding–though we may not be able to accept the responsibility, and could project, pulling in the Pluto effect from without. This is often the way we face Pluto, as if it’s an unavoidable circumstance, accident, trauma, or perpetration of another–sometimes that’s the only way we can deal with it.

The Essence for 2 June 2011: Drawing Strength, Avoiding Pitfalls

'Girl with a Hay Rake' Winslow Homer 1878 {{PD-Art}}

3 AM PDT sees the Moon trine Vesta; we are bolstered by home, by communion with those intimate to us, and by those things to which we’re dedicated. It’s as if we draw strength and support from our choices–a nice feeling, with an unusual direction of ‘flow.’ Just before 1 PM PDT the Moon makes a square to Ceres as she conjuncts the South Node. The big danger is that we will fall back to old ways of reacting to authorities, or to the challenges of nature. To use past methods of coping or of approaching problems (and dealing with authorities will feel like a problem) would be highly ineffective. We need to avoid knee-jerk responses, and draw on what we’ve learned from our history without feeling (and so reacting and thinking) like we’re children again.
