Noonish Pacific the Moon quincunxes the South Node, adding what I’d describe as an ‘intentional tone’ to the intellectual preoccupation with all things Aquarian. This is an emotional checkpoint–after all, the Nodes are ‘points of extremity’ for the Moon itself–the result may be a startling and sudden awareness of emotional changes, a ‘then v. now’ moment that shows you just how far you’ve come, and what in your emotional picture has changed. The atmosphere is free-wheelin’ on this energy through the rest of the day; to see more of what’s happening, scroll down to the view of the week, below, or get your password with purchase of the Fall issue of ECLIPSE, links at right, second category from the top.

4 January 2011: Receiving the Message

Tags

'The Swan Messenger' Raja Ravi Varma pre-1906 {{PD-Art}} Wikimedia Commons

Today Mercury is quincunx Sedna, making communication complicated: we speak but don’t have any idea what we’re really saying! It’s an aspect that results in Soul-baring exchanges or exclamations with the speaker having no idea of what’s been revealed–and for the most part, the listener may fail to hear what’s really conveyed, as well. We can glean a great deal of information, and learn how others truly feel, if we can take a mental step back, gain a little distance, and actually hear the messages given. These may be connected to the meaning of the eclipse, if one received contact from the eclipse to the natal personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, or Mars). In any case, be aware that revelation works in both directions; we speak, and those open to hearing what we truly mean and want will gain understanding. Hyper-consciousness might be the goal here, and yet it’s almost impossible to obtain when the mental faculties are obscured; settle instead for honesty, embrace it as far superior to anything we can consciously ‘construct,’ and accept that the control we typically think we exercise (but we’re fooling ourselves in that regard, too) just won’t be available.

Here’s the ultimate unknowing communication of who one really is: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-12111496

4 January 2011 Partial Solar Eclipse

Tags

from Verne's 'Around the Moon' illus. by Bayard and de Neuville

The Partial Solar Eclipse occurs at 1:02 AM Pacific Standard Time on the 4th at 13 Capricorn 38. The Sabian Symbol is ‘An Ancient Bas-Relief Carved in Granite Remains a Witness to a Long-Forgotten Culture’ http://www.cafeastrology.com/sabiansymbols_degreemeanings.html  A New Moon is an inception point, a beginning, a seed, a birth–but this symbol is of something quite old, stately, a symbol of memory–very appropriate for Capricorn.

So what do we get when we bring the ancient and a seed point together in an eclipse? We get a power-seed, a point of origin that can knock our socks off since it has the authority of ancient knowledge, of things perhaps forgotten by the Collective consciously but still accessible through these moments that connect past and present via a corridor of memory energy that brings ‘then’ into contact with ‘now.’

The form it takes is through Art or expressive endeavors (the Bas-Relief) and tells a story or gives a message (the point of a Bas-Relief). This is, quite literally, carved in granite–meaning it is not subject to change–so we are looking at a message of timelessness and immutability. The most important part of the symbol, though, may be the way the Bas-Relief refers to a culture long passed into dust; this tells us that the message is something quite vital that may have been ‘lost’ before now, before the energy of this seed moment burst forth, giving us this cultural pearl.

3 January 2011: Notes on the Coming Week

Tags

The week may feel a lot like this illustration from Aesop's Fable, 'The North Wind and The Sun' from the Guttenberg Project via Wikimedia Commons

Sun/ Earth axis forms a T-square with h.Zeus and Saturn over the coming five days or so (through the 8th) and this brings a continual state of tension that takes the very general form of a ‘Big Life Question’: Am I serving my Purpose adequately? We will be, consciously or not so, vetting and weighing our effectiveness in this regard at a Soul level–part of this will involve a restlessness with our surroundings, if they’re not conducive to the Purpose we have chosen. This may act as a backdrop stress behind more pressing and immediate matters, but the thread of pondering life direction and the appropriateness of what we’ve surrounded ourselves with will be there.
We see a loose Fist of God created right now (a loose Fist–is that one that’s not too serious, even lacksadaisical, about the beating administered?) The apex is Neptune/ Chiron, with a conflict base (the square) made of Earth on the one hand, and h.Zeus/ Saturn on the other. This suggests material and reality-based situations and circumstances tuned to the ambitions and desire nature, specifically where the material world conflicts with the requirements of fulfilling those ambitions and desires. Resolution is offered through imagination, ideals, altruistic or communal or spiritual energies employed through the use of the most unique individual skills. This Fist lasts for a few days, and offers a relatively prolonged period where we can focus on making what we truly want happen in our world by using our most elevated energies–a nice combination of the seen and unseen that can have major effects in our material surroundings, and that calls on us to use skills we can really be proud of.
Of course, there’s a Solar Eclipse in the early hours of the 4th PST–will post a small bit on that later–ECLIPSE Readers, see the full report on your Protected Pages, along with the daily detailed forecast–forgotten your password? It’s listed in the Table of Contents of the magazine–Thanks!
In case you don’t recall that particular fable, it was a contest between the Sun and the Wind to see who could make the traveler remove/ keep on his cloak–may be a lot like the aforementioned Fist. And remember, it’s Dark of the Moon–relax!

2 January 2011: The Danger of False Premises, and A Little ‘Quiet Time’

Sometimes group or tribal priorities make it very hard to empower ourselves Koch 1806 {{PD-Art}}

Around 4 PM PST of the 2nd the Moon squares Jupiter and sextiles Neptune, while effectively kicking off a T-square involving Jupiter/ Uranus opposite Juno. This suggests a prolonged period (through to the Moon’s Void) of tension that we try to resolve using the emotions and/ or intuition. The opposing forces will likely be the group v. our own personal empowerment needs (and this is probably a struggle that has been going on in some form for some time), and we will meet a situation that seems to require we find a solution to the stand-off. Maybe we can; Sag Moon puts the emotional emphasis on knowing–and what we know, intuitively or through the feeling senses, could be the key to resolving the issue. The chance that we may be mislead (or mislead ourselves) is there (Neptune)–but this comes at the beginning of the issue–if we can recognize false premises upon which we may be attempting to build our answers, then we can eliminate them and move forward confidently with the intuition in play.

Void begins at 9:21 PM, with the Moon entering Capricorn (oh here we go again!) at 11:38 PM PST. Dark of the Moon began about 1 AM of the 1st, ushering in a little ‘quiet time’–take these days as a chance to re-group and rest.

Through the first week of the month, the Sun moves toward square with Saturn–and we feel it, especially during the Dark of the Moon as the Moon approaches conjunction (and eclipse) with the Sun. This initial week may feel very heavy, with a lot of assessment of progress and accomplishment, and a lot of down feelings if we aren’t reaching amazing pinnacles. Don’t be so hard on yourself that you discount what’s of most importance: love, laughter, and the kind sustenance offered by the Universe.

Falero 1880 'A Day at the Tavern'

Here’s the gist of it: The way a panoply of aspects may play into our celebrations is in making some of us supremely mopey–and who can blame those who’ve become acutely aware of what they don’t have, love or money-wise? The trick is not to let a melancholy seated in the past, and in what is not, take over the future–for what else is the New Year for, but to celebrate a new beginning? Take this to heart, and use what this aspect brings to create new goals  more in line with your heart, rather than what you’ve come to believe by rote you should have in order to be happy (for that’s where most of this dissatisfaction and ennui will be coming from, distorted ideas of what we must have in love or assets in order to be happy, ‘real,’ who we were meant to be).

Happy New Year!

30 December 2010: A Cinderella Moment

Tags

From the 1865 edition of 'Cinderella'

We will likely be preoccupied with Merc direction energies, as all indicators point to Plutonian experiences, feelings, and perceptions. With the Moon fresh off an aspect to Pluto and heading toward the Sun (both sextiles) as the clock strikes midnight changing from 29th to 30th, PST, that Cinderella spark within (yes, guys, you have one too! It’s the need to see a light at the end of the tunnel, a promise of rescue by a change in circumstances) will be yearning for, searching for, a way to keep (or perhaps regain) that figurative glass slipper–and this will be something, an asset or belief-perception, that is suddenly not in our possession any more (think the Venus/ Sedna opposition across the Taurus/ Scorpio axis of the natal chart). We may feel bereft, abandoned, resigned to the loss of something that was perceived as a gift from a fairy godmother in the first place–but the truth is that it was karmic in nature, earned in some way, and will return in a better, more permanent form. Something to look forward to, and to allow us to relax with the loss, as a bigger change, a transformative event, is on the way.

29 December 2010: An Endless Well of Plutonian Feeling

If only what's coming up from the depths would be this idyllic Siemiradzkiego 1898 {{PD-Art}}

The Moon enters Scorpio at 12:49 PM PST. This could be a time when we feel like saying, ‘Scorpio, you are a real bitch.’ The atmosphere will seem unusually harsh, with emotional challenges to creativity, with feelings of attack (rather than actual attack) coming forward, and the aesthetic both volatile (via the emotions) and too willing to embrace the unsightly and to re-cycle what may or may not still hold some value. Disorientation may be the overriding result, as we face Merc’s direction (11:20 PM PST).

9:04 AM PST the 29th: I wrote the above several days ago, and now that we’re here, I’m not feeling it in quite the same way–so what’s up? Let’s look at the aspects in effect right now–the Moon is 17 minutes from her Void, with a square to Ceres the last aspect. This suggests to me that we’re in the midst of a natural progression, and that we don’t ‘arrive’ at the Scorpionic reaction until we hit the Scorpio Moon–well that makes sense.

I think all our energy is really focused toward the Mercury Direction tonight (11:20 PM PST), and that tension may override other considerations, with the Moon’s entry into Scorpio enhancing the stress inherent in a station and making it the key player in today’s scenario.

Of course, the Mars/ Saturn square is exact, and Pluto sits at the Sun/ Pallas midpoint, and both are promises of assertive, even volatile, energy making an appearance materially/ physically–and it seems like a smart alternative or channel for our energy! The only chance of this being productive is found in being entirely conscious of just how much ‘push’ there is in the psyche. Pluto can be stealthy, and right when we think we’ve used up all that assertive juice more comes along–and must find an outlet. As long as we can accept that it will keep coming (for Pluto has depths and depths and no end) we will continue in conscious mode, and not fall prey to lashing out, acting out, or passing out from sheer rage, pique, or shock!

28 December 2010: Intuition Suppressed

Tags

Circumstances feel harsh, tempers flare, and intuition may be suppressed. Artist unknown c16th century {{PD-Art}}

9 AM PST of the 28th the Moon conjuncts Zeus, immediately followed with a square to Mars and a conjunction to Saturn. This presents a complex wherein the emotions and ‘I am’ challenge us to act, to do ‘it,’ but we feel a suppression of intuition that makes us very hesitant to go forward. Much here depends on where Saturn is transiting in the personal chart, as well as any aspects it makes, and what if any aspects are currently being made to natal Saturn. With Merc not just retro but still (for a day) within quincunx of Sedna, communications may be especially hard to grasp and thoughts to collect in any coherent fashion. Note what comes forward but make actions modest; anything not under consideration before the Merc retrograde should be tabled for a later vote.
