Arthur Wardle - 'A Fairy Tale' {{PD}}

Arthur Wardle – ‘A Fairy Tale’ {{PD}}

The AstroEssence: choices and actions are inspired by our ego, and by our own empowerment, and that can be turned in a positive direction if we gauge everything to our highest values–it’s smart to look for the obvious benefit in things–we just have to accept that knowing is available, though not necessarily yet verifiable, as our intuition and sensory data will tell us what we need to know. This is all bolstered by the Lunar eclipse (see below) (Mars nov Juno, Venus trine Pallas)

The LunarEssence: The Lunar eclipse (Full Moon) is appulse (the apparent close approach of one celestial body to another which is created by the perspective from a third, in this case, the third being Earth) and occurs on 16 September at 12:05 PM PDT at 24 Pisces 19. Here we do see a Finger of God, with the eclipse and Sedna as base, apex Hygeia. With the Solar eclipse we were offered health, in some important way; now the Lunar eclipse declares we are likely to know instinctively in what way or form the restoration of balance or function was or is to be reached. The promise of the previous eclipse is fulfilled in this one—and that more than a little connects them in a deeper way than we usually experience, and this may be symbolized in the signs involved, with the Virgo Solar eclipse being very visible (or at least tangible—Earth sign), and the Lunar eclipse an event of completion, as all Full Moons are, this one Piscean, representing a subtle, evocative development below conscious awareness, possibly mainly perceived through the emotions or ‘sensed’ through intuitive or creative faculties.

The Lunar eclipse is conjoined Chiron, giving what concludes or ends at this time a theme of healing, or wounding, with the former the goal, and the latter the outcome to unresolved tensions not addressed adequately by the individual. The potential for this negative result is shown in the Moon-Earth/ Sun axis which creates a T-square with Mars; this brings the ego, the Will, and aggressive or assertive energies into play, and implies that the health and healing we seek (and we seek this whether we know it consciously or not) may not occur, if we are unable to resolve the tension between the ‘I Am’ or the ego and the event of the Lunar eclipse. That is, the Chirotic occurrence will initially bring upset to the ego; it’s in resolving this upset that we have the chance to heal.

The eclipse is also trine Vesta and novile Ceres. These aspects imply there will be available to us a powerful nurturing energy that unites personal power (derived from our natural authority, plus Nature and our place within it) with what we find sacred, specifically in the areas of home, family, and the act of giving succor. Whatever reaches fruition or ending with this eclipse will align with our truest values and those things we honor and find sacred. If we’re surprised by what develops, we should take it as bringing to our conscious attention what we really care about—and so eclipse events will offer the chance to move toward more authentic representations of our values, especially in the areas of nurture, dedication, and responsibility.

Franz von Stuck - 'The Dance' 1910 {{PD}}

Franz von Stuck – ‘The Dance’ 1910 {{PD}}

Should we count that out-of-sign opposition of the eclipse to Jupiter? Astrologer and early opinion-haver on this topic, William Lilly, tells us that to be considered combust the Sun, a planet must be within 8 degrees 30 minutes and in the same sign—which Jupiter is not; but he counts anything up to within 17 degrees of the Sun as being ‘under the sunbeams’, a condition that is debilitating for the body’s energy, but not so much as combustion (he contradicts himself later in discussing Horary astrology by stating that whether the body is in the same sign as the Sun does not matter). I think we must count Jupiter as having a part in the eclipse since the Sun is approaching conjunction to Jupiter in 7 degrees 14 minutes (with the meeting occurring in Libra), though I can’t name with any certainty whether we should consider this as having the nature of combustion or the condition of under the sunbeams—either way, we know Jupiter’s usual largesse is a bit dampened by the situation.

A Lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth comes between and is on the same plane as the Sun and Moon, from our point-of-view the Moon appearing to conjoin Earth with the meeting on the side opposite the Sun, with both these bodies opposing the Sun; that means that we ourselves, and material matters, block the illuminating light of the Sun, with most knowledge arriving through emotional or intuitive channels, and through ‘vibes’ gleaned off surroundings or material circumstances. Jupiter is, in essence, conjoined the Sun, and this may imply that Lunar eclipse events at least in part arise from lost knowledge, lost or blocked opportunity, or difficult circumstances surrounding the social arena or our own expansion attempts—and since the aspect has not yet perfected, we may not be aware of the loss, or we may have yet to see it peak.

The Sabian for the Lunar eclipse is, ‘A Religious Organization Succeeds In Overcoming The Corrupting Influence Of Perverted Practices and Materialized Ideals’. Even with the best of intentions, the spiritual easily becomes ‘corrupted’ as we try to incorporate it, represent it, and live it in the daily life; just witness the large number of individuals, religious institutions, and groups over the years who have failed to keep their reason-for-being in mind as the physical plane exerted its influence on their attempts at manifesting the spiritual one. Remember that healing we spoke of, that return to function or fitness? It may, through the action of the two eclipses, act to remove a corrupted or compromised set of practices or to eliminate inappropriate ways of manifesting spiritual energy. And the conjunction of Jupiter to the Sun, origin of the illumination of the eclipse situation in the first place, suggests that we will see a purification of beliefs or of religious practice, with this potential existing both personally and in a larger societal context. The Sun’s Sabian is, ‘A Flag At Half-Mast In Front Of A Public Building’; a flag at half-staff position (mast applies to ships) is an acknowledgment of something lost. Jupiter’s Sabian at the time of the eclipse is, ‘The Transmutation Of The Fruits Of Past Experiences Into The Seed-Realizations Of The Forever Creative Spirit’—well that says it all, doesn’t it? This confirms the positive nature of the change brought by the eclipse, both purifying and regenerative, bringing spirit back closer to its origins, potentially stripping away corrupt or distorted forms that have been applied via attempts at material manifestation.

Today’s word image is made of notes: this–can’t explain why it popped into my head.

For those born with the Sun at 24 Virgo: does having an eclipse on your birthday automatically mean your world is going to be turned upside-down? No, though that ‘No’ must be qualified with this: it’s going to be turned upside-down, it’s just that it may not seem like that’s what’s happening. You may go through some, most, or even the entire year through to your next birthday feeling nothing has changed–and then, suddenly, you’ll see what’s been at work creating Cosmic shifts in your world. If you ‘listen’ hard, you’ll sense this activity, and so can be better prepared for the changes it will bring. For a few of you, drastic change has just occurred–and this years sees the aftermath play out, and your life re-organize itself around those new circumstances. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

Start the new eclipse season right–donate! read! and have a wonderful Friday!

'The Fair Toxophiles' 1871 {{PD}} William Powell Frith

‘The Fair Toxophiles’ 1871 {{PD}} William Powell Frith

The AstroEssence: Our attention is very much on ourselves today, on the ways we’ve been wounded, on how we’ve been, in some form, inadequate, unreliable, erratic, a flake. We think we need to stop thinking–at least, halfway through, that may feel like the answer–but in reality, we need to look long and hard not at our transgressions but at the ways we’ve allowed our hurt to drive our ego, and at the way we’ve labeled this ‘instinct’, and so slavishly followed some of our most destructive urges. Though these Self-recriminations may be a tad unpleasant, they’ll be a tremendous good; what we gain is a much more accurate perspective, particularly of our own place in things–and better perspective always, always leads to more effective actions (Perfecting today: Mars sq Chiron, Venus contra-parallel Sedna, Sun qnx Uranus, opp Chiron, and parallel Mercury)

Today’s word image is a stamp. This suggests ‘permission’, and having ‘paid what’s due’ in order to reap some benefit or use some ‘service’. Remember, the only permission you really need to go forward is your own.

For those born with the Sun at 23 Virgo: matters of health and well-being are crowding your peripheral vision–and though you can continue to ignore them, handling them now will prevent big issues in future. The entire year, through to your next birthday, you may wrestle and dance with your responsibilities–to yourself, to the group–and you may need to clearly distinguish between those matters it’s adequate just to understand, and those you must act on. It’ll be a year of tension, surprises, and new experiences, and you’ll likely come out the other end quite changed. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

Monument to the hippie era, Tamil Nadu, India 2010 by John Hill Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International

The AstroEssence: We may have the urge to rebel against what the group wants, and we’d be right to do so–what they push is unhealthy, at best, and certainly doesn’t support our personal best interests–but we need to tune in to our own highest values, ambitions, and deepest desires, in order to choose, act, and think ‘correctly’ (that is, in a way that supports our strongest feelings and commitments). So the answer isn’t just unthinking rejection of what’s presented; rather we should aim for those things that support us in the most holistic and positive of ways–and when we see what we know is the smart alternative, or the honorable one, we must have the courage to embrace it (Uranus opp Hygeia, Mars sxt Pallas, Venus parallel SN and Zeus, and sq Vesta, Merc sxt Vesta, Sun qnx Pallas)

Today’s word image is an ostrich egg. We might need to identify what has ‘big potential’, and keep the elements of that thing or idea ‘warm’ until it can hatch. That suggests we must both perceive the matter accurately, and be willing to take the needed measures, with an eye to success not now but down the road. Delayed gratification is, for some, the hardest thing to face.

For those born with the Sun at 22 Virgo: you’ve chosen your move, your direction, Virgo, and now you must ask yourself, ‘Is this the smart thing to do, or am I just running/ rebelling from something else?’ If you find yourself thinking of those you will smite, frustrate, or otherwise snub by taking this step, you know you’re on a track being driven by showing others rather than fulfilling yourself. It’s not too late; simply step back and reassess. You know what’s smart for you, and shortly you’ll experience a period of emotional fulfillment that has its roots in the wise choice–and you don’t want to miss that, do you? Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

The AstroEssence: we’re heading toward the Lunar eclipse (it may for some feel like we’re barrelling toward it!) concerned about recovery, about ambition, power, and talent expression, and the focus is where and in what ways we’re finding it difficult to act, choose, or go forward. A few suggestions: don’t trust the mind to understand everything–right now it dwells too much in hurt from the past to be an adequate guide and assessor in the present; we do have a keen ability to assess the worth of our ambitions and goals, and we can also see what relationships are necessary (and so to be valued) to facilitate getting where we want to go; and we can take action much more successfully if we pull back on the throttle–a balanced, moderate approach can ease us through in ways that a full court press fails at. A few should expect significant earnings or reward from pursuing goals, and others are likely to find the assets they need to make meeting aims a reality (Venus conj Zeus, Mercury parallel Chiron, and sesq and parallel Ceres, Sun-Earth axis sq Mars)

Today’s word image is a lawn flamingo. You may see these plastic decorations as an abomination, delightful, an item of nostalgia, kitsch, or mandatory if you live in Florida; consider exactly why you see it as you do. One man’s junk is another man’s treasure–and it’s also true that we have different relationships to ‘stuff’ at different points in our lives: a young person decorating their first house with zero dollars is in another position entirely from an older person who wants to downsize. Do you love clutter, seeing it as a distinctive collection of surprises and rewards, or a dust-gathering indication of a pack rat? There’s no right answer here; this is meant to get you thinking about stuff, and your relation to it.

For those born with the Sun at 21 Virgo: choices and what action to take may draw your conscious attention this year, so that things may go on and changes occur without you really noticing. The real emphasis will be on sudden challenges, accidents, ground-breaking events, original efforts, and surprising developments, and your processing of these, using your wisdom to respond in the best way you can, and all this combines to create a kind of ‘New You’, and to adjust, shift, and re-set the stage upon which you strut. This year ambitions pay off, and relationships ‘reach out’ tentacle-like, to connect you with goals. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

‘The tennis party’ J Lavery 1885 {{PD}}

The AstroEssence: we may spend a lot of time thinking about health, and doing what we believe it takes to make us healthy; this should be seen in the broadest terms, applying to all areas of life and all expression. In addressing ‘health’, we may run into a number of dilemmas and conflicts, small and large, that may point out to us just where we’ve brought negative conditions on ourselves. We should be as consciously aware as possible that our thoughts are based on our beliefs, and guide our actions, and that thoughts are 1) less reliable than usual due to the retrograde, which means we are likely to miss something we should take into account or consider, and 2) turning our attention a little too much toward those in authority and those who have dominion over us, and our attempts to express may include digs and resentments we don’t really know we’re including, and 3) responding at this point in time to influences that will be setting up what will play out through to and culminate at the Superior Conjunction (late October). Know that in addressing matters today, you’ll be setting up the circumstances of ‘health’ (or its lack) for some time to come.

'Lilith' John Collier 1891 {{PD}}

‘Lilith’ John Collier 1891 {{PD}}

A special note on the South Node trine Black Moon Lilith: we shouldn’t forget that this is a relationship between two measured points, ‘energy spots’ relative to and determined by the movement of other bodies–and as such, the effect may be more like an echo we catch rather than as with other aspects, which are more like a river we are standing in. Past shames, angers, and failures may haunt us, suddenly, briefly taking on life, pointing strongly toward the potential for re-visiting those same transgressions now. The point, I think, is to prompt us to resolve to do better, not to make us dwell on what was, which is, by virtue of the aspect, presented to us with a life and strength it no longer holds. They’re just memories; remind yourself, you know better, now (SN trine Black Moon Lilith, Chiron qnx Hygeia, Mercury sq Mars, parallel Jupiter, and conjoined the Sun in Inferior Conjunction, with the Sun also sesq Ceres)

Today’s word image is an out-dated computer. I really hate to go with the obvious, but this could just signal some ways we currently still employ to work things out that may be well past their relevance or prime. Merc retro is all about refurbishing our thinking; that may be something to consciously attend to today.

For those born with the Sun at 20 Virgo: you may spend the year incubating new ideas, new approaches, new plans–is there any reason not to implement them as soon as you come up with them? Yes, though this may require something like a balancing act: gaining some mental distance from what’s proposed, at the same time as you are putting the most preliminary steps in motion. I know, not easy–but it will be rewarding if you’re willing to walk that line–the result could be an almost indestructible position, and an ability to act on what you know that almost guarantees success. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec ‘Carmen Gaudin Red-Headed Woman in a White Blouse’ 1885 {{PD}}

The AstroEssence: Empowerment, the true ability to affect one’s environment and one’s options, comes today from two things: accessing what worked or brought balance in the past, and a willingness to dive into what we’ve been ignoring or denying, in order to confront what’s dark, or what would change us, if it could. The thing is, though it’s both admirable and tempting to go head-long at issues, it might not be the wisest thing to do. Somehow using our current position to attack things we actually do need to address will cause us to both gain and lose in unanticipated ways. As long as we’re clear on that, we can go forward, forewarned that drawing on the past, and on power accumulated there, brings a mixed bag of results. Ideas are our friends–they are brewing for the Inferior Conjunction tomorrow, where they will plant a seed or two–but action based on these thoughts, which may take defiant or anti-establishment lines, is to be avoided, at least for now (Juno conj Black Moon Lilith and trine the SN, Pallas contra-parallel Juno and trine Hygeia, Mars sesq Ceres, Venus parallel Juno, square Pluto, and contra-parallel Pallas)

Today’s word image is the color white. What does that color mean to you? Purity, blankness, cold, sterility, freshness, options or choice (as in an unwritten-on piece of paper or an untouched canvas), or do you see it with an artistic eye, representing all colors? What comes to mind tells you what’s ‘coloring’ your current viewpoint ‘lens’.

For those born with the Sun at 19 Virgo: it’s a time for action–is there really any question about that?–but hesitation may arise from perceptions that implementing what you want, your Will, or taking that leadership position will seriously sidetrack current life direction, the very momentum of which you’ve worked so hard to create. What’s a Virgo to do? Think on it, sleep on it, mull it, whatever ‘it’ is that you want to do–by the time you again feel confident and ready to move forward, half of what you’re now considering will have resolved on its own, and the other half will be ripe for your touch. It’s all a matter of choice–making the right one could take a little time. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

Enjoy your Sunday!

The AstroEssence: One reason I don’t usually single out aspects, especially ‘heavy’ ones (between slow-moving outer planets) is that they don’t happen in a vacuum; the tendency to read things separately is what makes for discordant or contradictory readings, though admittedly, it is the way to learn about contact effects. It’s not that there aren’t often opposing forces and flows in play, it’s more like without a whole picture orientation, we can’t really see how that aspect may be buffeted and shaped by the other aspects in effect–and that’s not even taking into account the way it may or may not affect the individual landscape through the natal chart.

So, we see the final perfection of the Saturn-Neptune square today, with this suggesting, in the most general terms, a culmination, ending, completion, materialization, manifestation, or boundary (though we can’t discount the possibility that Saturn in this instance simply means ‘time’, the passage of which has reached a particular point of conflict with the Neptunian factor) with a fantasy, creative idea or impulse, a deception, an illusion, a dream, or of an ideal, reached through a clash, conflict, or the advent of a contrast or pressure point that brings the problem nature of the thing into full view.

The thing is that today’s square may be a repeat of already addressed situations or problems, or may be yet another version of these energies in conflict, and so may not be recognized for what it is. Too, we may believe we know what to look for, though it often takes some hindsight to spot the actual (as in this case) impediment (Saturn) causing hesitation or denying access to the dream or ideal (Neptune); that is, we may think in the moment we know what’s stopping us, but be blind to the true cause (Neptune obscuring Saturn). This is in part an effect of that singling-out tendency: though it makes things fall into neat categories, it does not show us the full picture.

What’s the full picture for today, then? It involves thought processes that must adjust to what’s actually wise, rather than just to what we perceive as smart–and that takes a willingness to step out of the crowd, to let go of the belief that we know, and to refuse to dwell in hurt of any kind. It also asks us to see that acknowledging all parts of our life, especially those we have lately ignored or denied, is the healthiest thing we can do, as is acknowledging any anger we carry, particularly over any disrespect we feel we’ve suffered–and this last point, disrespect, must be recognized as something of a code word with some people–be sure you’ve actually been disrespected (not treated as an equal, and a human being) before you mistakenly use this word to characterize a difference of opinion, asked-for advice, or a warning, when it turns out to be other than you want to hear (Hygeia parallel Black Moon Lilith, Saturn sq Neptune, Mercury qnx Pallas, contra-parallel Jupiter, and opp Chiron)

Damian Shibniov 1906 'Versailles' {{PD}}

Damian Shibniov 1906 ‘Versailles’ {{PD}}

Today’s word image is Versailles. This could mean a lot of things, though those that stand out to me are the place as a symbol of a pinnacle of Self-indulgence as a lifestyle, and that it has a hall of mirrors–so is today’s image about (over) indulgence, or about taking a look at ourselves? Your choice.

For those born with the Sun at 18 Virgo: you may take action this year, Virgo, because of what you learn or know; this may spring out of priorities and commitments, but will be propelled by emotions, and the feeling nature will reach out periodically and re-shape the direction you’re headed. You may come across as too head-strong, too impulsive, and too much out for your own good and goals–but if you don’t do ‘it’ for yourself, who will? No guilt, no hesitation–and anybody who tries to take you there may need to step aside, at least temporarily. Good luck, and Happy Birthday!

Olaus Magnus – from the “Historia de gentibus septentrionalibus”, book 1 {{PD}}

The AstroEssence: Jupiter in Libra brings the kind of optimism about partnerships and partnering that makes us look to the future with a great deal of hope; in this Air sign we think about where we can expand, get more, learn, explore, or get the word out, and we turn to our relationships, aesthetic matters, cooperative ventures, and investment opportunities to make it happen. Jupiter goes retrograde in early February in the third decan of the sign, prolonging its stay through direction in early June, through escape to Scorpio in October 2017, and Jupiter doesn’t return to Libra for another 12 years–and that means that between now and October of next year, optimism and opportunity is inextricably bound with matters of the natal House where Libra is, as well as with the Arts, our relationships (especially our romantic attachments), and in interaction with those who offer support, cooperation, and conspiratorial mutual benefit. Yes, I said conspiratorial, because the agreements we reach with others during this transit are based on mutual values (Venus), and rely on mutual reward (sign ruler Venus again) to work, and that means we may find a kind of put-our-heads-together attitude that (inadvertently or not) may exclude others.

We may also see, or feel inclined ourselves toward, immersion in the social sphere, where individuals take up the beliefs of the social arena and so regard society at large as a partner. Too, we may see belief in Love, in marriage or mating, in cooperation, in diplomacy, and of the efficacy of religion enjoy a renaissance of sorts during this transit, along with a kind of faith in the strength of duality that promises ‘more’ when we embrace one another (a current Presidential candidate’s slogan, ‘Better Together’, comes to mind). We let go the inclination toward criticism and critique, toward accounting and accountability, and look for the ways we can aid or enrich each other–so not such a bad direction to go.

As to those more fleeting aspects perfecting today, we see a preference for reality and what we can hold in our hands (especially if this is something dear or cherished from the past) over what may feel like too-theoretical values or abstract relationships. Watch, too, for the impulsive thought and the radical idea; though they have immense potential value, they come currently in a form that is too anti-authority, and too likely to spring from past hurts, to truly be useful without serious modification. Just keep sight of what you know to be important to you, in order to make progress (or at the very least, to stay out of trouble!) (Saturn contra-parallel Vesta, Venus qnx SN, Merc qnx Uranus and contra-parallel Ceres and Chiron, Sun sxt Vesta and contra-parallel Venus)

Today’s word image is an idea: chocolate for breakfast. I’m thinking of really good chocolate, and see this image as an invitation to indulge at an unusual time in a refined pleasure. Lately there’s a chance we haven’t really been paying attention to our own best moments incarnate, our own enjoyment of physical existence–this is a reminder to slow down, and savor with gratitude.

For those born with the Sun at 17 Virgo: ambition and desire may be the still, small voice within that pushes you forward this coming year, Virgo, but it will be where and to whom you dedicate your energy, time, and attention that determines your progress. It’s all fine to dream, but the way you spend your time will (quite literally, in some ways) be an investment in building your future. Keep that in mind, and you’ll make good choices that propel you in the direction you want to go. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

8 September 2016 Identity Matters

Alfred Stevens 'The Psyché (My Studio)' c1871 {{PD}}

Alfred Stevens ‘The Psyché (My Studio)’ c1871 {{PD}}

The AstroEssence: Matters of identity (either how others see us, or how we see ourselves) work against our empowerment–but that may be because we’ve got a skewed idea concerning what empowerment is made of–and that identity dissonance is pointing out, not a flaw in who we are, but a flaw in our concept of what our reach, our influence, our effectiveness, or our impact on others should be. In working out where and over whom exerting our power and influence ‘fits’ in the scheme of things, we also work out some identity matter that has been distorted in our own minds, something that has prevented us from being as effective as we could be. We also may find that this shift in Self-knowledge requires a reassessment of where and to what we dedicate our time and energy–which of course leads to a refurbishment of our ambitions and goals. A busy day, but one where most of the action likely takes place within our own heads, via our own newly-finessed viewpoint (Vesta sq Zeus, Sun contra-parallel Juno)

Today’s word image is a shuttlecock. We’re all familiar with the feathered and weighted not-a-ball used in sports like badminton. As an image this may suggest something, an attitude, an interest, a responsibility, some intangible matter that is ‘batted’ back and forth among two or more individuals, as each attempts to either avoid responsibility or to ‘score’. Returning something that comes at us quickly is almost instinctual, but in this case we should consider that something passed back and forth, whether the return is reflexive or the objective is not to get ‘stuck’ with it, or to gain ‘points’ off others in some way (chiefly by making them ‘miss’ on the return) it’s probably a matter we should stop fooling with; maybe we should sit down and address this issue that clearly can’t be ignored, won’t go away, and is taking up our time and energy, forcing us to play the game.

For those born with the Sun at 16 Virgo: taking action this year, through to your next birthday, may be difficult, Virgo, unless you get two other things clear first: what your priorities are (including what matters or individuals you want to dedicate your life to), and your best options for personal empowerment and effectiveness, including any role you may take on because it offers the status you (think you) want. Understand your capacity and commitments in those two general areas, and you’ll be able to make better choices and moves, out of a clearer sense of who you are as an individual–everything this year builds from there. Good luck, and Happy Birthday!

The AstroEssence: We can’t rely on our instincts (relationships and/ or finances throw off our compass), and though the reality picture is clear, we may be prone to lie to ourselves, or to superimpose an image of what we wish the reality was, so that we may feel we can’t trust our own senses to deliver the complete, unadulterated story–and that’s correct, we can’t. If we can just use the lens of Love (of a purity that asks nothing from others) then we will know what to do, how to face things, and what is really important right now (Venus sesq Sedna, sxt Saturn, and qnx Neptune)

Today’s word image takes a lot of particular forms, but has a broad theme of ‘foreign (as in, from somewhere far away from what’s familiar to you) and unusual’. Take note of these elements in your life right now (for me a Himalayan salt block used for cooking and a spam phone call from Egypt–Egypt!–come to mind from just the past few hours). I think this may be about appreciating how small the world has become, in some ways, and so how much more closely aligned the interests of various pockets of humanity are than we might think–and how long our reach has become, thanks to air travel, global shipping, communications systems, and of course, the internet (not to mention the way more negative things, like environmental pollution, are ‘shared’, whether we like it or not). The point may be to notice how much is part of our lives that, in the past, wouldn’t have been, and to focus on one of these factors, for what it might say about our relationship to the larger world.

Or, the word image can be an orange (the fruit, that just happens to be one that grows in only certain climates, and that for many was quite exotic, until only recently), if you need something more image-evocative.

For those born with the Sun at 15 Virgo: it’s time to get your ‘power’ house in order, Virgo; now, through to your next birthday, you’ll be dealing with issues of who and what will exert a force in your life–and depending on your initiative and responses, you will decide how much of your own power you embrace, share, express, and let others see. The one reliable that can guide you through all this is your highest values, those things and people and causes to which you are committed; if you measure your power choices against these values, and make sure what you choose honors what you care about, you’ll do very very well. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!
