Finger of God, Moon in Libra, Moon in Scorpio, My Daily Astrology Diary

Claude Rains and Gloria Stuart in 'The Invisible Man' 1933

From 10 PM of the 24th right through 5 AM PST of the 25th, the Moon and Venus form the base of a Finger of God with apex Sedna. It’s like those old ‘Invisible Man’ movies, where once the bandages came off he could sneak around and spy on the bad guys–something compels our emotional life and relationships, yet we can’t see it–an energy exerts itself on us and we don’t know what it is, or why we are pushing in a certain direction (this will be wherever Sedna, currently at 21 Taurus 30, sits in the natal chart). This could be materials, value, artisanal skills, or security-oriented, or could have the features of the House involved; if Sedna is currently aspecting natal bodies, particularly by conjunction, this could signal a major episode for you.

By 3 PM PST the Moon sextiles Vesta, reminding us through the emotions and intuition of what’s most important to us. 4:30 PM sees the Moon trine Chiron–it may be easy to hurt and be hurt, but more likely we just become extra-sensitive. Void begins at 4:43 PM PST, ends with the Moon’s entry into Scorpio at 6:15 PM Pacific, and we start the transit with a need to adjust the emotional picture to the social scene, or to some knowledge we’ve acquired (quincunx to Jupiter).

Subscription forms for the newsletter version of ECLIPSE  will be up late this week!

23 January 2011: Don’t Let It Be Regret

Moon in Libra, Moon in Virgo, My Daily Astrology Diary

'The Blizzard' Cornelius Krieghoff c.1860 {{PD-Art}}

Just after 1 AM PST the Moon trines Sedna, making it easy to lose touch with our emotions. The atmosphere stays a little nebulous (and so do our feelings) until around 11 AM PST, when the Moon opposes Uranus, quincunxes Neptune, and squares Vesta; this teams up with Jupiter newly arrived at the Aries Point and brings a striking (and perhaps upsetting) amount of individualism and Self-interest forward, and much of it will masquerade as concern for the group or a willingness to ‘volunteer.’ It’s almost certain that what we are envisioning and idealizing at this point is not truly reflective of those things we find either important or sacred in the life, and we would do best to realize we are revved up without having first sorted out some clear and rational goals–the energy is overwhelming (or at least very stimulating!)–and there’s no real planning for what comes forward–it’s that kind of sketchy itch!

The Void is minute (My-Newt): starts at 3:24 PM PST and ends with the Moon’s entry into Libra at 3:59 PM–okay, minute was an exaggeration–but that’s exactly what we face as the Moon opposes Jupiter at the Aries Point. It’s likely our first big jolt concerning Jupiter’s new role in the Cosmos and in our personal world. I think our Jupiter energies will take a saucy, Self-absorbed turn in a very public arena of our choosing–and this suggests to me that it’s most important to keep the energies in check, at least initially–don’t let ‘regret’ become the word that expresses our Jupiter through Aries in 2011.

Note too that today Pallas and Mercury are closely conjunct–’think smart’ comes naturally to those who are serious-minded, Self-disciplined, and willing to follow the rules (Capricorn placement).

And just a note to those kind individuals who have friended me on Facebook but to whom I’ve not responded: if I’m not acquainted with you well enough to recognize your name, it’s unlikely I will accept. I don’t mean to offend anyone, I simply don’t know you at all (and if I do, but under a screen name, please let me know), and that makes me hesitant. I’m sure you understand, and I do thank you and appreciate the gesture. You can always friend the astrology page, ‘Julie Demboski’s Astrology’ Thanks~

Grand Square, Moon in Libra, My Daily Astrology Diary, The Cardinals

A different kind of Cardinal by Baraschudts 1900 {{PD-Art}} Wikimedia Commons

Cardinal energies get their first boost around 1 PM PST with the Moon’s T-square to the Nodal axis and Pallas, which is conjunct the NN. The emotions want to ‘make it happen,’ and there’s an acute awareness that guidance and the smarts to do ‘it’ are available; the difficulty may be seated in a loose Grand Square that’s in weak effect and triggered by our emotional attention. It’s Jupiter/ Uranus opposed Juno/ Moon tangling with the Nodes and Pallas, and it jangles our nerves and puts a need for spontaneity and acting out into conflict with what we know to be a better course. It’s a bit of a showdown, with our impulsivity threatening to disturb our most positive direction. With Mars squaring the midpoint of h. Zeus/ Saturn, our aggressive energies and ego desires to have an impact could be our undoing–take care with expression as what’s done will make a lasting impression that we may spend some time trying to undo.

See much more (and farther ahead) with your password to the Private Pages, which comes with every purchase of ECLIPSE (links at right under Books, etc, or copy and paste http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/the-latest-new-fall-2010-eclipse/ The Fall issue is the only one that comes with access, but back issues are available, including one starring Ceres! EL Kirchner 'Ladies Playing Ball' 1931-1932

The Moon now in Libra, Venus at 00 Scorpio, it all smells so refreshing, doesn’t it? And yet we can’t go long without a challenge, in this case, the Moon’s square to Pluto around 11 AM Pacific. We’ll each choose a side–kicker or receiver, to use a football analogy. If we’re the kicker, the emotions will go into high gear, swooping down on those around us like a visit from avenging angels, terrible, destructive, bent on change. We will be a force to be reckoned with, oriented toward creating change (or remaking something in our preferred image), without a care for who might be harmed in the process (but if this is you, be gentle with yourself–you are not intending to hurt anyone–it’s more a matter of feeling that others must not stand in your way, that they must be responsible for themselves–oddly, it’s a stance that respects others even as it may leave some destruction in its wake). But, if you are the receiver, others may seem needlessly harsh, may not take the care you require, may be judged to be enraged, destructive, or almost evil–and though there will be some who will indeed be careless and wreak havoc, the vast majority will be misunderstood by the receivers, who will have moved too far toward seeing themselves as refined and delicate. They may be too civilized in this instance, asking what is really a cleansing emotional force to be unduly restrained, demanding that Plutonian forces tip-toe whenever they’re in the vicinity. This refinement isn’t wrong so much as it is an act of avoiding the cycle of energy that brings everything to change, or to an end. The receivers may need to let go and trust that, though some change may be abrupt, and transformations can be brutal and leave us bruised, it’s all part of the way things are meant to be.

Moon in Libra, My Daily Astrology Diary

Today’s Libra Moon meets Saturn and h. Zeus–and likely leaves us exhausted, as we struggle. Against what, you may ask? You name it, we’re likely to fix on and attack whatever catches our fancy (Moon sextile Mars), and the worst part is, most of what we find attack-worthy will feature the shape of our own internal dragons, whether they wear the guise of our partners (Libra), and external opponent (someone who insists on being unique, to what seems like our detriment, the social circle, or a group that asks we conform–quincunxes to Jupiter and Uranus). We think we know how to handle it (Mars c. Pallas) but it’s far too easy to slip into illusion, fantasy, or to apply creative energy in an area better suited to a clear response to reality–gettin’ fancy with it only adds to our problem (and may be an expression of our own need to give creatively). Mischanneling energy is a big possibility over the coming two days, and much of the blame lies with a true need to be aware of our own power (the gathering of Pluto/NN/Ceres)–our awareness is focused on sorting things out (Sun c. Vesta) and our attention has a hard time going anywhere else for long.

7 October 2010: New Moon in Libra ‘Balancing Ambitions, Discerning the Path’

Moon in Libra, My Daily Astrology Diary, New Moon

The New Moon for October arrives at 11:43 AM PDT at 14 Libra 23. If we keep our usual strict 2 degree orb, an interesting pattern emerges, with asteroid Zeus conjunct the Sun and Moon, the Earth quincunx both Venus and Mars, and sesquiquadrate Pallas, and the Vertex of the New Moon chart square the New Moon in Cancer. Our New Moon is in Libra, sign of partnership and pleasantries, promising gracious interaction, co-operative ventures, and civilized interludes of action or romance, but that isn’t the picture provided by the aspects, suggesting that these Libran veneers will overlay something much more dynamic and passionate. The inclusion of Zeus suggests the New Moon as a birth point for strong ambitions and desires in matters of the natal House where this occurs, and/ or in matters of mating/ partners, co-operative efforts, the Arts, diplomacy, and in any area where one is trying to achieve a balance, internal or external. We should expect our wants to make themselves known, and our ambitions for ourselves or others (through the mechanism of partnership) to be very very clear. This inception point brings forward the inclination to realize (in a material form) our wants (Cardinal influence) and to desire/ require the partner’s support, or the general co-operation of others (Libra), and there may be a relatively unreasonable requirement to do it all politely, with big smiles on our faces and songs in our hearts–at least, that may be what the individual requires all others to do, as they push one-pointedly  toward goals–others are expected to co-operate! Some will become ambitious in relationship, making the big play to win the heart (or at least the surface co-operation) of the potential partner. All well and good, with a bout of ambitious boosterism and a strong push forward in making desires realities on the agenda for October, though we must be aware of what we might have to do (Earth aspect to Mars) and what it all might cost (Earth aspect to Venus)–Zeus can place want (and especially our lust for something) way above everything else.

For Libra-fresh mornings, get this sign on a mug! http://www.cafepress.com/dogandsunflower.470044671

But there’s more: Earth quincunxes Mars and Venus and sesquiquadrates Pallas, suggesting that in terms of the material, the vibe may be specifically balance/ imbalance oriented, with efforts to work it out between male and female, active and passive, outgoing and receptive, or energy may center in the matters of the Houses ruled by Mars and Venus in the natal chart. These may be the areas where a balancing act is required, with no real hope of resolution, as the middling ground must be sought and maintained, despite those Zeusian desires that would push results strongly in one direction or the other (see all about the meaning of Zeus here http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/eclipse-in-depth-astrology-for-the-21st-century/ and also see more about this New Moon, ‘What You Won’t See on the Blog’ in the Summer issue of ECLIPSE http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/) The aspect to Pallas says that we may have to tinker with, or make allowances to, what we know to be wise in working this out–our traditional wisdom viewpoint may need some modification in the face of what’s presented.

Lastly we have the Vertex of the New Moon chart drawing a T-square with the Sun/ Moon/ Earth axis of the moment; this implies that fated matters may draw us off the course set by the New Moon axis, and this means that some will struggle to find balance and realize desires and ambitions, as something will inevitably interfere. One may reach out to make ‘it’ happen, only to find someone or something coming between the Self and the goals. In this instance my thought is that one must accept the hand of fate as a pronouncement of sorts, a statement that what one is striving for is not meant to be, at least not at this point. If we accept this, we take the struggle out of much of the period, and replace it with acceptance that lets us get a clear look at what we’re working with, and perhaps brings to light a new path–perhaps freeing us from the Sabian symbol for this New Moon.

The Sabian symbol for the New Moon degree is both simple and infinitely complex: ‘Circular Paths’ This may emphasize the way our actions lead back repeatedly to the same spot (implying we must do something differently, to break the cycle, or that we need to accept that this is in some way is our destiny, inevitable), or may suggest the ‘All this has happened before, all this will happen again’ nature of the Universe, or may emphasize the completeness of any and all choice, as choices without doubt feed back upon themselves–a matter of realizing that choices don’t have consequences so much as keep us enclosed in a circuitous loop of reasoning, a way of making the world manageable and coherent–and that this isn’t negative, but may be limiting, and result in too narrow an experience (or too narrow desires, making us set our sights either too low or inappropriately, wasting our Zeusian rocket fuel!)

I must say that my ‘vacation’ has been anything but; many thanks to all of you, though, as your kind messages and heartfelt wishes helped so much to lighten the darker hours, and especially helped to make my birthday a special one!

Moon in Libra, My Daily Astrology Diary, poll, real life astrology

The transiting Moon in Libra is 11 minutes from my Sun as I write this, which may explain why, though I fully intended to go to bed, I decided to inspect the prevailing energies first. There was an urgency to it, propelled by a revelation of sorts: that the Virgo New Moon flooded the air with a focus on goals (‘the harvest’), details, and obligations, and with not much else spicing things up (the exception being Venus, see ECLIPSE), it’s had an odd effect: we’re either retreating into a groggy sort of stasis or pulling out all the passive-aggressive guns in our arsenal and blasting away (firing, of course, from the safety of structures, organizations, or social media that puts up an enormous firewall between aggressor and target).

Do you feel it? And which side have you fallen on? Don’t make the mistake of thinking you’re the exception, some exotic third kind of reactor, because hard as I try I can only find one or the other. Just as possible is that we may tell ourselves we’re one, when we’re really the other–and it all seems to be in reaction to two things, that New Moon energy which launched a very thin-feeling atmosphere, not at all like a usual New Moon–and this didn’t offer the renewal that we naturally expect at this point in the cycle–and we find Jupiter and Uranus back in Pisces, both at 29 degrees, refreshing all the insecurities and social drains we thought we’d washed away for good already. The individual struggles to feel their contribution is important, the social scene presents the individual with detailed expectations and requirements that seem to offer only a sense of burden, so that the reasonable among us retreat into a form of hibernation (no matter what they’re occupying their time with) while the susceptible (read also, ‘the unconscious’) focus all their might on a Machiavellian lashing-out that serves to pull the harmless into harm’s way. The aggressor dresses it up as offering friendship, feeling victimized and seeking redress, or ‘helping,’ but it’s clear that they are acting out their anger–and it’s likely anger that should be going somewhere else, but it has found a convenient innocent and a pliable system to and through which to channel it, and that immaturity that became prominent with the New Moon comes out in full force. Sometimes, the anger is going in the right direction, theoretically, but the reaction is unjustified; if someone sees the truth in you, and calls it out, who are you to be angry that they see clearly?  Mars in Libra is just within quincunx to Uranus and soon will make the same aspect to Jupiter–so we’ve got miles of anger to go before the disturbed will let us sleep.

If you find yourself on that groggy, retreating side (and so most likely a target, though it’s possible you’re showing anger-by-withdrawal, dragging feet to spoil things for everyone else) wait to reply or react until after Merc’s direction; a great many scales will find their balance at this point. And if you find yourself with a big ol’ knot of anger in your gut, anger that you may not have even known was there until you thought about it, anger that you covered with a thick blanket of ‘everything’s fine,’ then you have two duties here: find the true reason for your anger, and spend the time before Merc’s direction figuring out how you should react, and perhaps atoning for how you already did.

14 August 2010: Attending to the Dream

ECLIPSE magazine, Moon in Libra, My Daily Astrology Diary, My Weekend Astro Diary, the Magazine

It feels like the weekend doesn’t really kick off until about 1 AM PDT on the 14th as the Moon sextiles the Sun; at this hour the heavens try their best to form a Mystic Rectangle, but it’s fleeting, with the Part of Fortune as one leg–so no go, though it does offer a nebulous version of the MR’s almost magical ‘helpful’ energy. At the same point the Sun is quincunx the transiting Midheaven–will this bring an event? If it does, it may be Neptunian, a seminal moment for imagination, fantasy, or ideals brought to life (wide Neptune/ Earth conjunction as another leg of the MR that wasn’t). Or maybe some of us will just be busy dreaming 🙂

Uranus has returned to Pisces, though, and that may suggest what of a Neptunian nature we deal with will be surprising, probably for the fact that we thought we’d already ‘imagined’ this out, visualized an end picture or point, or otherwise created a final result–but Uranus says, No, dream about this again. Look to the matters of the Houses ruled by both Uranus and Neptune for likely areas of activity, and the placements of both transiting Uranus and Neptune, as well (which may or may not be contained in these Houses) and anything they’re aspecting for a picture of what may come forward.

5 AM-ish PDT the Moon quincunxes Sedna and we may hit an emotional wall, a ‘blind spot’ that limits our emotional or intuitive understanding. If you’re aware there’s something you’re missing, you can hold back on a judgment or other action that could, in the end, hurt yourself or another.

By noon PDT the Moon trines Neptune and we can become conscious of that Neptunian dream material in a way that shows us who can help our dream happen (Moon in Libra). By 2 PM the Moon is trine Chiron, and we may get a surprise, an unanticipated hurt in approaching or trying to partner with another–for a lucky few, this signals skills will be mustered very effectively in service of the dream (or, for a very unlucky few, as slave to the fantasy).

The Libra Moon quincunxes Uranus around 4, catching some emotional part of us off-guard, and the Void begins at 5:25 PM PDT and ends at 5:26! The Scorpio Moon will, during the evening for Pacific zoners, quincunx Jupiter and sextile Pluto–along with its natural tendency to encourage depth, intensity, and attention to the darkness, this seems a recipe for a little bit of bad judgment going a long, possibly destructive, way. Take care.

More details for this weekend, and the months to come, can be found here  http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/ and the last page of the article on creativity gives the password for a private page just for ECLIPSE readers here at the site, where you can read more articles, take polls, and ask questions about your own chart in the comments section (I’ll draw charts privately and remove all identifying data when I answer). Thank you, and enjoy your weekend!

Special Note: I do like the way Venus is chasing Mars, for a change. It’s as if he’s saying, That’s it, girl, work for it! She catches him, one way or another, on the 19th.

Fist of God, Moon in Libra, Moon in Virgo, My Daily Astrology Diary

The Virgo Moon pulls away from its New Moon status and late in the sign quincunxes first Neptune (10:30 AM PDT) then Chiron (11:30 AM PDT), bringing abrupt notice to the emotions as they take stock of the connection to reality (how clearly are we seeing things?) and then as they scan the horizon for hurt. We think something might be harming us; in this case, the sensitivity to injury precedes any event. If we bring skills forward and put them to work, instead, we won’t go seeking upset, and no problem occurs. (There is one other scenario, where our recall of a past hurt insists on being addressed now–again, putting the abilities to work keeps things smooth).

By my reckoning the Void begins at 1:59 PM PDT, with the Moon entering Libra at 2:06 PM PDT. The Libra Moon looks to me like it will focus on the personal energies, especially relationships, our ability to really be ourselves within them, our wish to expand them in particular and our world in general, and by 11 AM of the 13th the Moon meets Zeus in Libra, bringing desires and ambitions to a head. We will likely spend all of the 12th in ‘personal mode,’ assessing and dealing with an array of relationships, but by midday on the 13th, we will move our attention to the ways we might get what we want. This Moon period brings a fairly straightforward dynamic, and it’s likely to feel, if not busy with interaction (as for many the activity will be largely internal), at least layered with the richness and variety of the personalities in our lives.

Yes, we’re still dealing with the Cardinal T, and Vesta has now joined Saturn–this is good news, as it brings our most sacred values into the mix. Now we know clearly what to preserve, to honor, what to change, let go of, or destroy, and what to take into the future. With priorities so prominent we can use the energy of the T for accomplishment; no need to wallow in the tension, when we can put it to work so effectively.

Early evening Pacific time of the 13th we may find a little relief as the Moon semi-sextiles Mercury. Merc has been somewhat isolated of late, and we could have been feeling that we just haven’t been getting our message across; this should offer us a way to connect, and especially to allow some venting of feeling.

Special Note: Neptune is sesquiquadrate Zeus and the South Node, apex to a Fist of God. Ambition and desire must take its cues from the past and all that we’ve learned–when it does, only our imaginations (formed to our ideals) are the limit.

Moon in Libra, My Daily Astrology Diary

Once the Moon brusquely bussed Zeus, adding herself to the T-square he was embroiled in with the Nodes, she pulled away, moved past that power struggle over destiny and direction,  and freed her Libran sensibilities to come out and play with the partner (post the 1:30-ish AM meeting). The Lunar lady is free, for a while, to do as she pleases, and love is in the air. Though snuggling up will do initially, to get the message across with no uncertainty she may need to speak up, as the 6 AM hour PDT sees the Moon sextile Mercury in Leo, and talking about ourselves never seemed more right!

Don’t get me wrong, that’s a good thing, a grand thing, even, and we’re seeing a window for gentle, tender, and spontaneous communion that also quite well accommodates our own needs nicely; a time to give and receive attention, and for everyone to recuperate from the simple assault that is being in the world.

We can spend most of the day in this revery, this shelter of companionship and kindness, until 6:30PM-ish PDT, when the Moon squares Juno and just after sextiles Ceres and quincunxes Sedna. This may suddenly bring up issues of control, territory, and a game of ‘Who’s Got the Power?’ could easily ensue–a bit startling after such a mild day, and all the tougher to handle as Sedna makes us unable to see that we (and they, whoever that may be) are both aggressors. The Moon tells us how to handle it–it’s in Libra, so remember this is a partnership, not a testing of adversaries, and that should truncate any disputes.

1:30 AM or so on the 18th PDT the Moon forms a Cardinal T with the Sun/ Earth axis, setting up the next dynamic, an emotional inventory of what’s on our plates right now–does it serve our needs? are we accomplishing what we intend? what are we really putting our time and energy into? These are worthy concerns after our day of (mostly) just enjoying each other’s company (it’s good prep for the Moon’s trine 6:30-ish AM PDT on the 18th to Neptune, which will be a window for making emotional dreams a reality–we can carry an almost magic feeling into the Void, which begins 7:27 AM PDT). Thinking about what we’re devoting ourselves to will be the best preparation we can make for the next day’s challenges–that, and remembering how good it was just to spend time with someone we love.
