‘The Friendly Gossips’ Eugene de Blaas c1890 {{PD}}

I’ll skip the ‘whys’ for today, the 25th, and just offer a few helpful hints: if you find yourself jealous of someone else’s status or position, stay away for now—proximity will only spark problems; whatever you do, don’t get into it with authorities—they will not respond well; and Self-talk may be unreasonably negative today—what’s on your mind hints at areas you need to give serious attention to, at some point when you’re on an even mental keel and can be as objective as possible (Perfecting today: Chiron conjunct Juno, Mercury square Saturn, Sedna)

Again, just the advice for the 26th: Hitting the books or making efforts on behalf of the group are probably the least risky ways to use our energy, and make any exhibition of skills low-key at this time—too much flash could draw attention (the unwanted kind) from higher-ups (Perfecting today: Pallas opposed Juno, Mercury semi-square Uranus)

This is from ECLIPSE; want to know more? Subscribe!

And a big welcome and Thank You to all new and returning subscribers! Used to subscribe, and thinking of coming back? Email me for special ‘Welcome Back’ rates. Check it all out here

Have a great weekend!

A Fracture in Reality: Saturn Opposed Sedna

Saturn in Scorpio is currently opposed Sedna in Taurus, and by the 25th Mercury will cap off a neat little T-square with these two. Add to this Mars quincunx Sedna (also by the 25th), and we have an interesting recipe active over the coming week or so, worthy of note. This is what I wrote in the Daily (for ECLIPSE subscribers) for the Moon’s contact to Sedna, on the 23rd: 1 AM PST of the 23rd the Moon quincunxes Sedna, urging adjustment to the feelings when we might not be sure what’s driving the change! Either something we’re not consciously unaware of (but unconsciously noticing) is prompting modification, restraint, pull-back, or jumping in with both feet, or something from our own deepest nature, from a wordless well of just being, is trying to guide us. In either case, this is probably a good urge to follow; file it under ‘intuition is safe to listen to even when we don’t know why’.

This may begin the dynamic; the emotional perceptions prompt action that likely remains more or less a mystery in terms of what moves us. The ‘T’ makes communication either the outlet for the stand-off between Sedna and Saturn, or it becomes the resolution for the two, translating energies in a pair of signs that are more about perception and experience than they are prone to formulate things in words. Watch the natal Houses of your own chart ruled by Mercury for areas where the Sedna-Saturn opposition is likely to manifest. We may see the reality picture, or the establishment, rules, or structure of things (Saturn) troubled, even challenged, by primal forces–suddenly we’re taking life very very seriously–or we find problems when a ‘blind spot’ which hides some vital component remains unseen. Others will see the difficulty, and the solution, but we may not. This can work out in a variety of ways, but flexibility, a willingness to act and perhaps to defend what may need defending (Mars), as well as a willingness to recognize that sensation, intuition, and those strong, pre-verbal parts of ourselves need not always bend to the mind and those ‘civilizing’ influences to which we’ve become accustomed, will go a long way toward handling this opposition in the best way possible.

‘Hot Wind’ Charles Conder 1889 {{PD}}

21 January we may find that what’s wise runs contrary to our natural inclination, so that we must decide whether principles or empowerment is preferable, and then choose. We do get a hot line on ambition fulfillment, the job hunt, or learn particulars about what we desire that will help us wrangle it in. We may be feeling smart, but this is no time for confrontations with authorities, and negotiation wins go to those who emphasize skills over pride (Pallas semi-square Ceres, Vesta sesquiquadrate Juno, Mercury trine Zeus)

This is from ECLIPSE; sign up and during the month of February all my books will be only $5 each–and ‘The Elevation of Chiron’ will be free–only to subscribers! Get in on the upcoming free lesson on the rising sign/ Ascendant, and the optional, small-fee upcoming eclipse report!

Isn’t it time to get rid of what just isn’t working for you? ‘The Execution of Lady Jane Grey (detail) by Delaroche 1833 {{PD-Art}}

19 January  we are challenged to do what’s smart or use our skills by the social sphere or in order to teach/ learn, and the result is genuine communication. This doesn’t seem headline worthy, until we realize that those who fail to get the word out in a wise or accomplished form will suffer a sense of being out of the loop, or worse, abandoned by the social circle.

Evening of the 20th Pacific time sees the Sun enter Aquarius and Earth into Leo. That brings a gentle but perceptible shift in our attention as it moves from concrete material matters, achievement, and the role and reach of authority and takes up instead questions of higher thought, originality, and inventiveness. At play today: a Grand Square with the Nodes and the Sun-Earth axis, suggesting some tension over personal life direction and how well that manifests our uniqueness as individuals and our philosophy of life; and the ongoing Mystic Rectangle consisting of Jupiter-Pallas-Pluto-Chiron. This config lays the groundwork for some dazzling and life altering accomplishments in the social arena, for smart, healing change, for the sharing of wisdom that can change our world–will you let go of what no longer works, and take part in personal and social reform?

17 January  Home, our relationship with the mate, and our commitments are influenced by our deepest beliefs and perceptions, and vice versa, we are changed within by something we experience in the Vestal arena. This may represent the kind of life event that brings a sea change to the outlook, the commitments, or the sense of Self that forever after alters us, just a little. It’s important to note that at the time we may not feel what shifts is really a good thing to have happen—but with time we’ll see it wasn’t just necessary, but inevitable. ‘In the Library’ A. Toulmouche 1872 {{PD-Art}}

Cancer Full Moon 15 January 2014 at 25 Cancer 58 at 8:52 PM PST: Caring for Power

The Sabian is, ‘Guests Are Reading In The Library Of A Luxurious Home’ This suggests a few things: that we are in the midst of learning something or being informed by what’s going on—pay attention; that our circumstances are really very good, and that we may have downplayed them or may be unappreciative; and that we are currently lacking in a conscious awareness that we are, in a way, guests here on Earth, with all the temporary enjoyment, responsibilities, and need for good conduct being a guest entails. The Sun, which we always look to as a source of Moon-light, is, ‘A Nature Spirit Dancing In The Iridescent Mist Of A Waterfall’ Ahh, Ceres again! With the Full Moon we are being given a chance to experience our own spirits as part of Nature, guests on the Earth, enjoying the beauty and sustenance of a cool mist (for who has been in the lee of a waterfall and not felt replenished by Mother Earth?) and it is only our preoccupation with the material and the spiritually insignificant that keeps us from thoroughly experiencing it as our daily reality. That may be at the heart of the FM revelations—that power we will end up caring for will, for most of us, center in the experience of being alive and fully appreciative of this, though for a few, it will be all about worldly power—when you encounter one of them, just step aside, and go on your way.

‘Nocturne’ by James Abbott McNeil c1874 {{PD-Art}}

13 January–today is the day to delve into the mystery that is us—sounds a little ridiculous, right? But it truly is a good day for Self-inspection, the kind that considers all the deepest feelings and beliefs that move us and direct our choices and even our thoughts. Take this tack and you will discover some things, and put a few others that have been bothering you to rest; ignore the need to reflect on your own motivations and you’ll likely find yourself zoning out, as anything even close to attentive will require that willingness to peer into the dark (Sun trine Sedna)

‘The Bullfight’ Edouard Manet c1866 {{PD-Art}}

8 January It’s a moment of Truth, the kind where we find out what the true reach of our power is, and how much of our status and Self-image is based in reality, how much in illusion. Mind you, illusion can mean untruth or deception, but it can also mean a projection that only enhances the reputation, despite the nebulous source of the image. We are spurred to action, with the material effects entirely dependent on that illusion-empowerment ratio. Too, if we need to convince someone we’ve got the clout or cojones, we can—as long as we believe we do! Here’s a fine sleeve upon which to display hearts and other paraphernalia ‘A Man With a Quilted Sleeve’ Titian c1515 {{PD-Art}}

From the current ECLIPSE:

7 January Oh, we wear our values, loves, wants, and thoughts on our sleeves today, and want to or not, we communicate everything that we care about, but no matter the subject, others will tend to see our values and investments mostly in material terms (thanks to Merc and Venus both in Capricorn and Sedna in Taurus). That means we may be grossly misunderstood, taken to be much more materialistic than we are, or seen as choosing money over love, when we believe we are saying the opposite! Expect assessments of your values to be more about the speaker than about you; the trick here is to know yourself well enough that others’ judgments won’t sway you from your natural course.

St Barbara by Jan van Eyck 1437 {{PD-Art}}

St Barbara by Jan van Eyck 1437 {{PD-Art}}

6 January Remember those great ideas from yesterday? Today is the day to make plans to implement them, to gain financing and the power to materialize them, and to measure those ambitions against the trajectory of the life as well as their fitness to be a part of the Soul’s overall purpose. We have a keen understanding of power and its costs and worth today, and can understand how to best approach its use on our own and with others; as well, our current reality tells us exactly what we must do to make things work. Relationships can be difficult, if the power balance is off, or one or the other person either oversteps bounds or feels frustrated in expression, though in general a very effective foundation can be laid at this point upon which to build future accomplishments. (Venus square Ceres, Mercury sextile Saturn, Sun-Earth axis square Zeus)
