Moon in Pisces, My Daily Astrology Diary, The Astro Essence

'Beach at Valencia or Afternoon Sun' Joaquin Sorolla 1908 {{PD-Art}}

10:30/11 AM PDT the Pisces Moon makes a sextile to Pluto and semi-sextile to Venus. In this case, the Pisces Moon acts very much as it does in horary astrology, translating and collecting light from one body to another. In this case, it acts as a conduit for smooth changes (Pluto sextile) to the financial, asset, or relationship picture (Venus in Aries), where assertive moves have been brewing but did not have the clout (with Venus weakened in the Warrior’s sign) to come forward–but now they do, aided by the emotional intelligence and intuitive ‘knowing.’ By the way, Venus will at this point be the midpoint of the Moon and Sun, suggesting a lot of energy will attend that Venus initiative to assert itself; it will seem very ‘right’–and unless you’re suffering a debility to judgment by transit to the natal chart, it probably is. See my Facebook note at Julie Demboski’s Astrology for more on the Venus-Pluto square.

By midnight, all in the 13th degree of respective signs, the Moon will conjunct Ceres, semi-sextile Mercury, and quincunx h.Zeus, making for a test of one’s influence, authority, and possibly one’s communication and negotiation skills, and whatever comes forward will need to be adjusted according to the ambitions or desire nature–so the likely outcome will be expression of one’s native authority tempered strongly by what one hopes to gain or achieve. There will be an awareness of what others can do for us, where the lines of authority and territory are drawn, and how we might need to relate, intuit, or empathize in order to get what we want. It sounds mercenary, but it’s actually very practical, and insures that we will be too aware of the power structure to cause offense–and that’s good.

Sunrise With Sea Monsters--what a great title! JMW Turner 1865 {{PD-Art}}

For today there are so few Lunar aspects I’m presenting the entirety of the Moon forecast here. To see the planetary aspect forecast, articles, and EXTRAs! subscribe with the ‘Add to Cart’ button at right–and have a great Tuesday 🙂

3:30 AM Pacific the Moon sextiles Jupiter, making innovation, invention, philosophizing, or intellectual effort either ‘big’ or public. Asleep or awake, this could signal an experience where your highest concepts are in some way tested or displayed on the social scene (and if it’s in a dream, this may answer some question you’ve had about what may or may not be appropriate in your social sphere.) A square to Sedna (5:30 AM PDT) may cause us to forget just what it is that’s revealed–or may make us forget why it seemed so important to share our Aquarian efforts.

Void begins at 6:12 AM Pacific; the Moon enters Pisces at 9:58 PM of the 26th. With such a massive Void (especially one where the final aspect is, in essence, one of ‘forgetting’/ Sedna), we might want to keep a few things in mind: Voids are periods when the Moon makes no further aspects before it leaves the sign it’s in; this is viewed as an ‘energy-less’ time, as the Moon is the symbol of the passage of time and acts as a marker of ‘events’ (by the frequent aspects it makes–time in the larger, conceptual sense is Saturn). This suggests that the ability to plan and act, and of being able to adequately visualize the results of our actions, is suspended; without the impetus of the Moon’s energy, we are, in a way, adrift in terms of the ability to realize our intentions. This means that during a Void we must remember that what we intend at any one time may have a completely unexpected result (this as the absence of Moon energy seems to blind both our emotional intelligence and our intuitive ability, and thus our ability to anticipate effects), or our actions may trail off into nothingness, causing barely a ripple–and this is because without the Moon’s impetus we are in a kind of personal void ourselves, where a turning to the internal through ‘timeless’ activities such as meditation, prayer, or contemplation will be the most beneficial–and will pass the time painlessly. Any activity you can ‘lose yourself’ in is appropriate, and creative ventures may be an especially good way to spend the time, giving us a boost prior to the Moon’s entry into the highly creative and nurturing environment of the Pisces Moon.

There’s an immediate conjunction of the Moon to Neptune (10 PM-ish PDT) that can unleash creative genius or put us under a spell of our own or another’s making–and this could be good or bad, depending on whether the illusion is merely for mutual amusement or allows one person to fall victim to the other. Obviously, one is preferable. Next aspect is a 6 AM PDT conjunction of the Pisces Moon to Chiron, on the 27th, making for extreme sensitivity and allowing healing through compassion and/ or empathy.

The Essence for 25 April 2011: Mercurial Sea-Legs!

Here's one way to use those Mercurial Sea-Legs! US Navy recruiting poster 1917 Reuterdahl {{PD}} Library of Congress via Wikimedia Commons

Just after 10 Am PDT the Moon trines Saturn in Air and conjuncts Pallas, and we may find ourselves wanting to get a good grip on things, wanting to pin things down–but why? Restlessness spurred by unfulfilled attempts to lock down and control everything may be in store; if possible, take a deep breath and back off–no matter how reasonable we may feel we are being (and we likely will feel very reasonable!) we will be pushing too hard, being too serious, and taking things too intensely. Relax–and occupy your Higher Mind–it’s the best way to use the energy to your advantage, and putting at least some of your effort into Self-discipline will reveal the wise course.

Noon-ish the Aquarian Moon trines h.Zeus and sextiles now-direct Mercury. Are you feeling better? Thoughts may be on all those delayed ambitions and desires–but, taking it slow is the best approach–we’re still suffering from a version of Mercurial ‘sea-legs’ that are shifting the ground beneath our feet now and again. Do go full speed ahead with plans–this is a great time for it–but take measured steps toward acting, launching, and making changes. At this time we also see Ceres at the Moon/ Mercury midpoint; we mull our feelings about authority–our own or others’ that affects us–and may alter our outlook because of what we see or conclude.

The Essence for 23-24 April 2011: Opportunity

Looking for opportunity is half the reason we study the stars in the first place, isn't it? Thought to be 15th century, no source known {{PD}}

1:30 AM on the 23rd sees the Moon act as the arm of a T-square to the Saturn/ Mercury opposition–and should initially result in the emotions being pulled mightily between what you think, or has been communicated to you, and what you observe as reality, the rules, or the ‘real’ situation. This is a test of how much you trust yourself; even with Merc retro, you will know what is true–funnel your emotional clarity into resolving what’s presented so that your emotional picture is accurate and acceptable for you–you needn’t answer to anyone else.

5 AM Pacific the Moon trines Juno in Earth. When the emotions and intuition are keyed to Earth, and touching Juno also in Earth, we are handed a recipe for making good financial plans and decisions. We will see just what will effectively bring us a sense of prosperity, stability, comfort, reward, and abundance–and we can see how to go after it. For those who may be asleep at this time, take note of your dreams, or events in the night; these likely hold clues to achieve that material boost.

By 8:30 AM the Moon squares Mars; they are in Cardinal signs! they want results! they can be dramatic and assertive while still following the rules! Again, opportunity knocks, but stretching out actions to a slightly later point (after Merc direct, at least) will insure a clearer thought process and no (or few) missteps.

The Moon enters Aquarius at 10:59 AM of the 24th, semi-sextiling Neptune and briefly sprinkling bunny glitter on everything. It’s nice to allow a little glamor and illusion now and again, isn’t it? A sextile to Uranus (3 PM PDT) brings a little surprise, shock, or revelation, and then the Aquarius Moon makes a T-square with the Sun/ Earth axis, and as well sextiles Venus and places Chiron at the midpoint (7PM-ish PDT). Oh! The tension that comes forward is both intellectual and fundamental to the situation; it was there all along, now we can see it. The less mature may suffer a bout of rebellion or insist on avant garde-ism, but everyone else will see the healing potential in the air–and embrace it.

Have a wonderful weekend!

'Make a bee line' as someone used to say! {{PD-Art}}

The Moon trines the Sun in Earth and simultaneously squares Uranus (6:30 AM Pacific), and we may get an emotional shock even as we see precisely how to proceed for the day–so it’s a win/ whoops! A 10:30 AM sextile to Chiron may bring forward the sensitive again–and if that earlier shock wasn’t so good, you may hurt or may lash out at someone else–it’s just a bee sting, and not anyone else’s fault.

By 3:30 PM Pacific you’re either deep into pain or over it–the Moon conjuncts Pluto and things get heavy–and this may be bad, as in, Why me? or good, as in, ‘I never thought this would change, and it has!’ You have as much chance of celebrating this conjunction as you do of wishing it away–but if it does go south on you be prepared to channel the energy into reform or cleansing of your choice–take Pluto by the horns (for surely he has them!) and make him your b*tch, as the saying goes :)   Allow the semi-sextile to Vesta to guide you.

Even though they're sitting near one another, there's something solitary and peaceful about these artists W. Homer 'Artists Sketching in the White Mountains' 1868 {{PD-Art}}

Just prior to 9:30 AM PDT the Sag Moon trines Jupiter in Aries; it’s a day for broadcasting and reaching out across the social scene, and this is so despite Merc still (seems like forever!) in retrograde. This is because it’s all about getting the message out, and we are, perhaps oddly, unconcerned with whether we communicate clearly; as such it’s an almost pure energy of expression–and thus a little chaotic. Our attention is on expansion, especially in creative arenas, and we are eager (burning, we might say!) to show who we are–but we are fundamentally at least a little confused on the identity front (Sun sextile Neptune). What we need to know is that this is an influence, not something actually springing from within us–and we need to remember this when we start to feel inadequate or irritated that we are not able to pull ourselves together in quite the way we hope to–it’s not us, it’s the Universe!

I liked this painting because the light is so bright and orange, the fire seems wild and out of control--even though it isn't. Bierstadt 1863 'The Oregon Trail'

8 PM Pacific sees the Moon sextile Saturn, quickly followed by the Moon sextile h.Zeus, trine Mercury, then trine Mars. We enter this period thinking we can hold back, control our actions, and keep to the status quo–wrong! Ambition and desire speak up (likely through aesthetics or relationships) and then we tell everything we know (or at least everything we thought we’d keep to ourselves), and it ends up lighting a different kind of fire under us: one that is fueled by a synchronization of the emotions, the intuition, and the action urge. Despite the way we may put our foot in it, it may still be a good time to act–as long as we are truly clear about what we want, and what the situation is–and unfortunately this is nearly impossible with the retrograde of Merc still hanging on. It’s a shame to waste the energy, though, so most of us may decide to act now and ask questions (or clean up the unintended consequences) later :)

'Dante's Dream at the Time of the Death of Beatrice' Rossetti 1871 {{PD-Art}}

Just before 2 PM PDT the Moon quincunxes the South Node, either making us wax nostalgic, or uncomfortable with things or people from the past. Either enjoy, or breathe through it–no need to respond. By 8:30 the Moon trines Venus–ah! a short period of harmony and peace (and maybe a little money or love!) 10 PM-ish Pacific the Moon quincunxes the Sun, now in the 29th degree of Aries. Tension, a sudden urge to act or to resolve a situation, may appear–and just so, it may have no resolution. As the Moon pulls away (11:34 PM PDT) the Void begins, with the Moon entering Sagittarius, 11:49 PM Pacific. The immediate square to Neptune may give unusual dreams, where we confront our illusions, the future, or our Muses–and though likely stressful, we gain invaluable knowledge as a result.

Post 3 PM Pacific the Moon squares Pallas; what feels right won’t be right, and we’ll know it, and by 8 PM PDT the Moon’s quincunx to the Merc retro/ Mars conjunction will make it obvious–we’ll likely as not have chosen to act, speak, or ‘do’ against our better judgment, and we’ll be suffering the consequences–extra points to those who are able to refrain from the unwise compulsion, though the simultaneous semi-sextile to h.Zeus reveals that ambition and desires will drive our choices, plain and simple.

It’s almost cruel that the Void begins as the Moon pulls out of opposition, at 7:45 PM Pacific. We are all geared up by that big bright Libra Moon to love, to partner, and instead we are met with a feeling that our choices may be ineffective. The key is to avoid productivity–yes, you read that correctly–and instead enjoy life. The Moon enters Scorpio at 11:19 PM PDT–before then, have fun–because immediately the Moon will trine Neptune in Water, and we may have a flood of emotion, a wave of creativity, or while even more time away with our latest escape.
