12:30 PM PDT and the Moon trines Jupiter and sextiles h.Zeus. This opens the emotions to the social sphere, and the ambitions and desires piggy-back right along with them. For some this will be a tremendous boost of opportunity, as others see and respond to the passion of the goals and objectives with which they’re presented, while for some it may make for some uncomfortable moments (for the observers) of naked ambition and Self-reference. Motives have a lot to do with how this will come across to others–just keep that in mind as you offer up pie charts illustrating exactly what you’d like for Christmas (theoretically speaking).

Just after 9 PM Pacific, the Moon squares Juno; empowerment options seem at odds with our emotional needs–with Moon in Sag we want to reach out, but Juno in Virgo says, ‘Follow the rules to the letter, keep accounts, and keep careful track of where your power is going.’ It’s as if this Juno believes that fiery, enthusiastic contact, where we open our arms and travel far and wide, embracing all, is a recipe for giving our power away. Don’t accept this stance automatically, but do take a look and see if a too open-handed approach isn’t bankrupting you or draining you, especially emotionally.

Still Life with Oranges Louis Hayet c.pre-1940 (artist's death) {{PD-Art}}

5:30 AM PDT and the Moon sextiles Vesta and squares Venus; we may try to implement what we know to be right, only to have values, relationships, or financial concerns conflict with this. It seems this should all flow smoothly together, and yet it doesn’t–with resolution coming when we get honest about what Venusian thing we are less than righteous about (for instance, we may say we honor our parents or children, but when the situation calls on us to live that, we may feel put upon or too busy–and this shows us quite clearly where we’re not quite walking our talk).

1:45 PM Pacific the Moon enters Sag–and right away the Moon squares Ceres and trines Uranus, and we start our Moon-in-Sagittarius time with a challenge, of sorts: either authority challenges us, or we use our own authority to assert our emotional agenda, and in either case we are trying to show how free-thinking, independent, and avant garde we are–uh-oh. Think of how you behave when you are feeling very headstrong, just wanting to show how nothing can constrain you–’Nothing can tie me down!” That’s how we’ll behave, and it will take whatever form is most characteristic of each of us at our most rebellious. Be Self-aware, and try to minimize the fallout. I knew one woman who was legendary in her family for her great act of rebellion as a pre-teen: she threw orange peels at the TV in protest when she was told to stop watching and go do her chores. Try to make your eruption as minimalistic as hers was.

Moon in Scorpio, My Daily Astrology Diary, The Astro Essence

Unlikely our experience will be this dramatic, but it may feel this dramatic B. de Almeida 1897 {{PD-Art}}

Just before the 8 AM hour PDT the Moon quincunxes Jupiter, requiring an emotional adjustment to the way we approach the social scene; we may feel it will embrace our ‘me-ness’ (Jupiter in Aries) but our need for recognition may be too deep or entwined with buried emotions (Scorpio)–thus the need for accommodation. Pull-back allows us to re-group successfully; pushing forward only makes for a scene. Unfortunately, this sets the tone for the day; we spend our energy working it out, balancing things if we can, but likely feeling somewhat unfulfilled by our social encounters.

It isn’t until 9 PM-ish that the Moon quincunxes Mercury in Aries, again pitting the ‘I am’ against the emotional needs and requiring adjustment. Someone will speak out–and it will either make us deeply uncomfortable, deeply moved to act, or will make us deeply angry. An 11 PM PDT opposition of the Moon to Sedna is followed around midnight by the Moon’s trine to Mars, both in Water. What’s a seeker to do, when the emotional state seems separated from everything, and when we do feel something again, it’s either a call to action, or anger? Channel the energy into artistic expression, a good cry, or enjoyment of an entertainment that asks us to feel–and relax, it’s been a less than stellar day.

The Sun and Uranus: Together Again

Even though it happens every year, this time the transiting Sun and Uranus meet up at the Aries Point–and that promises an extra little something to the conjunction. Most likely is that the Sun will serve to shine a light on the Uranian developments in your life is a very personal way. The Aries Point is the spot where the unseen becomes the seen, and that implies that what comes forward will manifest from within all that you have been attracting, arranging, planning (in a Universal, spirit-directed sense). It can be quite the period of discovery, especially with Uranus involved–but no matter what appears in your life, you need to see that it’s a previously hidden part of you–so don’t waste time and energy arguing that it has nothing to do with you–instead study what occurs, appears, or falls into your lap as if it’s a gift of knowledge–because it is.

And the Lunar influence for the day includes:

By the time the Moon trines Neptune in the 29th degree of their respective signs, Ceres, companion to Neptune at 29 degrees previously, has moved on to 00 Pisces. Say what? This might play out as feeling like you get to the scene after someone responsible (Ceres, in her role as an authority) has already fled, leaving a crisis of imagination, creativity, spirituality, or collectivity (as in, someone shouting, ‘We’re all in this together!’ then cutting out). Though the rightful onus is on the already-disappeared Ceres figure, the reality is that whoever’s left must take on the task of righting whatever went off the tracks–and in this case, let intuition and ideals guide you (but don’t assume you must be on the clean-up crew–that’s an individual decision that must be keyed to that intuition and those ideals).

Beautiful pics of last night’s Moon

In the 4 PM Hour Pacific the Sun enters Aries and snuggles up to Uranus at 00. Illumination of some facet of Uranus at the Aries Point is offered, as is the spark that supplies innovation, a radical idea, genuine originality, or that puts one in the avant garde. What we see over the coming 24 hours (the time the Sun stays in 00 degrees) will have this unique spark hidden somewhere inside–it’s up to us to recognize it and use it to our best advantage.

By 9 PM PDT it’s a one-two punch as the Moon forms the apex to a Finger of God with base of Sedna and Mars. In this case, someone may try to persuade us that the aggression we don’t see won’t hurt us–oh no no no. There will be an emotional effect, specifically to relationships–so be as sensitive as possible to it.

What follows by 11:30 PM is a trine to Venus–so, despite the sucker-punch we may suffer, the result is absolutely excellent: in some form we receive a pay-off, reward, pleasant relationship or earning experience, obtain something valuable, or in some way determine a highly positive and profitable course from this happening.

Until he's 'birthed,' revealing himself, Uranus in Aries may be very much like an iceberg, with the majority of his energy hidden Frederic Church {{PD-Art}}

Virgo Full Moon arrives at 11:09 AM on the 19th at 28 Virgo 47.  We find the Nodal axis still within the Cross and Neptune/ Ceres at 29 Aquarius quincunx the Full Moon and Earth, and Uranus is opposed the Full Moon (and so conjunct the Sun) from the Aries Point–and those are our only aspects, but oh, what aspects!

A Full Moon is a culmination of energies; we all know this, right? The problem is that we say that but may not recognize that culminations mean endings, but that we don’t or won’t necessarily recognize an ending when we see it! This is one of the weaknesses of monitoring our own energies with astrology:  we are in danger of expecting certain things–and along with expectations come assumptions about what those things will look like. So, to let go of our assumptions may play a big part in successfully knowing what is coming to an end–and that may not be easy with the pressure of the Nodes in play (forcing the attention toward our destined direction–about which of course we carry even more assumptions!), with the rebellious energies of Uranus trained on expressing individuality (and as a consequence failing to look beyond the Self), and with the involvement of Neptune/ Ceres, calling forward every fantasy, delusion, and mommy or authority issue in our repertoire. So that’s the challenge with these aspects: if we meet them in a mundane way, in an ordinary state of mind, they act as more of a distraction from the ‘business’ of the Full Moon than anything else.

The Sabian tells us how important it is that we meet this energy in an ‘elevated’ state of mind. The symbol for the Full Moon is ‘A Seeker After Occult Knowledge Is Reading An Ancient Scroll Which Illumines His Mind’  The symbol implies that the Full Moon holds the promise of a means of discovering hidden spiritual knowledge, as we act in the role of Seeker. But, this knowledge is a finalization, a conclusion, a putting-together of what we’ve been gathering, discovering, or seeking, perhaps our entire lives.

The illumination a Full Moon brings to Earth (our material circumstances) this time around is not only in opposition to consciousness (the Sun) as usual (meaning that the culmination indicated comes about without great conscious effort on our part–it brings to an end matters as part of a natural cycle, rather than because of our doing), but is also in opposition to Higher Mind (Uranus)–and this suggests that, though we need to meet the Full Moon energy in an elevated state of mind, what we observe as the result may be decidedly mundane–and this means that we may not recognize the culmination as what it really is, the accumulation of our seeking efforts as they play out through these particular influences. Even more vital to note, this Moon may trigger the ‘birth’ of Uranus in Aries–it may, through a mechanism of conclusion or ending, ‘make room’ for the Uranus in Aries manifestation in our lives.

Moon in Virgo, My Daily Astrology Diary, The Astro Essence

Sometimes what you intend to embrace just squirms loose Mary Cassatt c1896 {{PD-Art}}

Just after 7 AM Pacific the Virgo Moon quincunxes Jupiter, suggesting some emotional turmoil related to the social sphere, or to our attempts to expand our emotional reach. We might want to take society in our arms and tell it everything will be all right–but of course, society would just wriggle loose like a squirmy toddler and run away! We may feel frustrated by the ‘misses’ that are the result of our attempts to set things right on the big scene, but the reality is we’re taking on too much–it’s not our job to fix society–but with this Moon we may be more than ready to tell society what’s wrong with it!

2-ish in the afternoon Pacific the Moon quincunxes Merc in Aries–and two energies gab like the dickens at each other, one aggressive and one emotionally overwrought–and neither making much sense or headway. Better to decline involvement in this conversation.

Just prior to 7 PM PDT the Moon opposes Mars–hmmm, same conversation, but switching gears: this time the aggressive one cloaks himself in New Age rhetoric or talk of Universal brotherhood, while the Moon still finds a great deal to criticize. Again, not worth your time, as nothing gets sorted out and everyone involved ends up frustrated. By 9:30 PM PDT the Moon quincunxes Venus, suggesting that our enjoyment rests on our willingness to be flexible about what we consider happiness-inducing, as a reward, or as valuable.

Balance is what counts G. Seurat 1892 {{PD-Art}}

By 12:30 PM Pacific the Moon in Leo is opposed Neptune, sending some to a fantasy-land retreat while others defiantly express ideals and others refuse to be mislead–it’s a variety of responses that once again have more focus on the Self and the need to respond from what seems to be a position where one wears ‘emotional blinders’ (those things horses wear to keep them from being spooked–it fixes their attention on the road in front of them, and that’s what these aspects are doing for us, allowing us to experience an emotional Self-expression that we rarely have the mental or social ‘space’ to indulge in.)

5 PM PDT the Virgo Moon opposes Chiron in Pisces; why doesn’t the Collective refrain feel healing? Everyone’s making the right noises, but somehow the emotional nature is unable to take expressions of Piscean Oneness at face value. Criticism is the natural, opposite response–though to let others know how we feel is unnecessary–better to chalk it up to irritability, and move on, while realizing that our song is making others feel the same irritability! Simultaneous to this the Moon is also making a quincunx to Pallas, suggesting that such adjustments are smart; Self-control and discretion are never wasted.

Don’t be afraid to extend yesterday’s prescription under ‘A Body at Rest’ into today, if need be. Interaction with prevailing energies is always a choice, one from which we can retreat if we so choose.

Ceres, Finger of God, Moon in Cancer, the Nodes

Surely this young woman's direct gaze suggests she's unafraid of a reckoning Vermeer c.1666 {{PD-Art}}

7 AM-ish sees the transiting Moon complete a Finger of God with a base of Ceres and the North Node. This may be a point of reckoning for all of us concerning Mother Nature and the way in which she’s changing the Life Path of just about everyone on the planet. Another big shake, a volcano going off (as of this writing there’s new activity in Japan, and there’s plenty more sprinkled around the Ring of Fire, not to mention so many other places on the map), or some other natural phenomenon (even a man-triggered one like a nuclear reaction, or the release of radiation, as we’re already seeing, but this time in a proportion with real consequences)? This may be reading too much into it, but with the Moon in Water and the NN in Sagittarius, it suggests to me another tsunami or other water phenomenon that has far-reaching (Sag) effects–but with Ceres in Aquarius, it may just be that our minds are fixed on pondering, studying, and analyzing what has already occurred. A small note: the dynamic (moving) chart I use to follow transits, which is set for Seattle, shows the Moon sextile the chart Vertex at this point, as well–and this implies a truly fated event. Most likely, though, is that this point will pass as so many others have, with nary a whisper :)

Fist of God, My Daily Astrology Diary, The Astro Essence

The Mars/ Saturn quincunx may be the underpinning on much of what transpires. The action urge and ego must adjust to reality–no question. Rules and regulations, though, might have to bend under assault of the ‘I am’ or the persistence and one-pointedness of the need to do–so which way it falls for you may be dependent on what’s stimulated in the personal chart. If your Sun, Mars, or Ascendant are receiving stimulus from transiting bodies, then you will likely make the rules bend to you; everyone else will probably need to surrender ego to the realities of life.

9:30 AM-ish the Moon completes a Fist of God with a square to Saturn, both sesquiquadrate Neptune. Perhaps this manifests as a test: the emotional nature tests itself against reality, and this, if successful, can make dreams come true. It sounds like a fairy-tale, but it’s really the kind of simple, to-the-heart admonition that can guide us soundly to where we want to go. There’s no need for drama–but sometimes we just don’t realize that :) At this point the Moon also trines Mars, making it easy to act on our promptings. Go Us!
