The New Moon occurs at 9:52 PM Pacific at 13 Scorpio 40–the only aspect made is a sextile to Juno.  The Sabian is ‘Telephone Lineman at Work Installing New Connections’  Combined these say that the connections and ‘lines’ necessary for empowerment are being created or strengthened, whether we are aware of that or not. It’s a straightforward picture that also implies technology or Uranian subjects (as dictated either by Uranus itself or by Uranian connections in the natal chart) are involved. Again, this may be happening hidden from view (Scorpio)–and this says it’s a process that we will be able to have little conscious effect on. Consider it the ‘birthing point’ for something(s) that have been sotto voce in consciousness so far–and welcome the chance to see what needs to come out of the dark and into the light, rather than fear it.

The New Moon’s ‘Empowering Message’ is very particular to the individual; more details on the current aspect picture are available here at the Private Pages with purchase of ECLIPSE magazine http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/the-latest-new-fall-2010-eclipse/ or try JUNO IN THE NATAL CHART, here http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com Thanks!

7 October 2010: New Moon in Libra ‘Balancing Ambitions, Discerning the Path’

Moon in Libra, My Daily Astrology Diary, New Moon

The New Moon for October arrives at 11:43 AM PDT at 14 Libra 23. If we keep our usual strict 2 degree orb, an interesting pattern emerges, with asteroid Zeus conjunct the Sun and Moon, the Earth quincunx both Venus and Mars, and sesquiquadrate Pallas, and the Vertex of the New Moon chart square the New Moon in Cancer. Our New Moon is in Libra, sign of partnership and pleasantries, promising gracious interaction, co-operative ventures, and civilized interludes of action or romance, but that isn’t the picture provided by the aspects, suggesting that these Libran veneers will overlay something much more dynamic and passionate. The inclusion of Zeus suggests the New Moon as a birth point for strong ambitions and desires in matters of the natal House where this occurs, and/ or in matters of mating/ partners, co-operative efforts, the Arts, diplomacy, and in any area where one is trying to achieve a balance, internal or external. We should expect our wants to make themselves known, and our ambitions for ourselves or others (through the mechanism of partnership) to be very very clear. This inception point brings forward the inclination to realize (in a material form) our wants (Cardinal influence) and to desire/ require the partner’s support, or the general co-operation of others (Libra), and there may be a relatively unreasonable requirement to do it all politely, with big smiles on our faces and songs in our hearts–at least, that may be what the individual requires all others to do, as they push one-pointedly  toward goals–others are expected to co-operate! Some will become ambitious in relationship, making the big play to win the heart (or at least the surface co-operation) of the potential partner. All well and good, with a bout of ambitious boosterism and a strong push forward in making desires realities on the agenda for October, though we must be aware of what we might have to do (Earth aspect to Mars) and what it all might cost (Earth aspect to Venus)–Zeus can place want (and especially our lust for something) way above everything else.

For Libra-fresh mornings, get this sign on a mug! http://www.cafepress.com/dogandsunflower.470044671

But there’s more: Earth quincunxes Mars and Venus and sesquiquadrates Pallas, suggesting that in terms of the material, the vibe may be specifically balance/ imbalance oriented, with efforts to work it out between male and female, active and passive, outgoing and receptive, or energy may center in the matters of the Houses ruled by Mars and Venus in the natal chart. These may be the areas where a balancing act is required, with no real hope of resolution, as the middling ground must be sought and maintained, despite those Zeusian desires that would push results strongly in one direction or the other (see all about the meaning of Zeus here http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/eclipse-in-depth-astrology-for-the-21st-century/ and also see more about this New Moon, ‘What You Won’t See on the Blog’ in the Summer issue of ECLIPSE http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/) The aspect to Pallas says that we may have to tinker with, or make allowances to, what we know to be wise in working this out–our traditional wisdom viewpoint may need some modification in the face of what’s presented.

Lastly we have the Vertex of the New Moon chart drawing a T-square with the Sun/ Moon/ Earth axis of the moment; this implies that fated matters may draw us off the course set by the New Moon axis, and this means that some will struggle to find balance and realize desires and ambitions, as something will inevitably interfere. One may reach out to make ‘it’ happen, only to find someone or something coming between the Self and the goals. In this instance my thought is that one must accept the hand of fate as a pronouncement of sorts, a statement that what one is striving for is not meant to be, at least not at this point. If we accept this, we take the struggle out of much of the period, and replace it with acceptance that lets us get a clear look at what we’re working with, and perhaps brings to light a new path–perhaps freeing us from the Sabian symbol for this New Moon.

The Sabian symbol for the New Moon degree is both simple and infinitely complex: ‘Circular Paths’ This may emphasize the way our actions lead back repeatedly to the same spot (implying we must do something differently, to break the cycle, or that we need to accept that this is in some way is our destiny, inevitable), or may suggest the ‘All this has happened before, all this will happen again’ nature of the Universe, or may emphasize the completeness of any and all choice, as choices without doubt feed back upon themselves–a matter of realizing that choices don’t have consequences so much as keep us enclosed in a circuitous loop of reasoning, a way of making the world manageable and coherent–and that this isn’t negative, but may be limiting, and result in too narrow an experience (or too narrow desires, making us set our sights either too low or inappropriately, wasting our Zeusian rocket fuel!)

I must say that my ‘vacation’ has been anything but; many thanks to all of you, though, as your kind messages and heartfelt wishes helped so much to lighten the darker hours, and especially helped to make my birthday a special one!

8 September 2010: New Moon in Virgo ‘Animal Behavior’

New Moon

The New Moon begins at 3:28 AM PDT on the 8th at 15 Virgo 40, and makes no aspects, even within a generous 3 degree orb. It’s a solitary Lunar event; let’s cut right to the Sabian symbolism: ‘In the Zoo, Children are Brought Face-to-Face With an Orangutan’ What do we have with this? A habitat filled with all manner of animal (and we count humans, since they are both keepers and visitors), where an immature form of human meets another primate, one with much less potential for development but that at the same time is at the top of the species’ form. Hmmm.

The two are brought together; it’s a moment when each recognizes both similarities and distinctive differences in comparison to the other–there is an eerie closeness and a realization of how truly unalike they are to each other. The result is a lack of any real exchange or communion; each is reinforced in its separateness. Immature on one side and intelligent but distinctly at a disadvantage on the other, the two remain much as they are, examining the other out of curiosity but with nothing changed in either world.

Perhaps we can translate this in this manner: the Virgo New Moon may birth any number of encounters consisting of two sides, neither of which is actually superior to the other. One side may hold the upper hand, influence-wise, but is immature, unable to understand, process, or respond in a genuinely effective way, while the other side is working at maximum capacity, though suffering limits in both dominance and intellectual ‘reach.’ And in the end, communication and meaning is decidedly lacking.

Most likely this is an effect of Virgo ruler Merc’s retrograde status. We may want to connect or co-operate, to explore, to show our supremacy, to negotiate, to learn–and it just won’t happen. It may be a matter of recognizing that whatever way we’re hoping to connect is, in some basic way, impossible–and moving on without too much judgment of ‘the Other’ or regret over what we wish we’d have been able to accomplish is really the only thing to do.

Of course, wherever this falls in the natal chart we find a chance to begin something, but that something needs to be taken very slowly. Pushing for a full-blown result right away is unwise; the energy is premature in its development (the orangutan) or in its literal age and experience (the children). A passive tack, similar to what’s taken when a seed is planted, may be the solution; we place it in the right medium, provide what it needs to grow, and then allow the energy contained in the seed (idea) itself to grow and mature at its own rate.

Better to send our energy in the direction specified in ECLIPSE in ‘What You Won’t See on the Blog’ for this New Moon (hint: Venus), and gather ourselves for the upcoming Cardinal Point Full Moon. See more here http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/  Thank you!

The Belated New Moon of 9 August 2010

Moon in Leo, My Daily Astrology Diary, New Moon

Actually, it’s not the New Moon that’s belated but my report; we spent an extra day and a half on our trip and I’m now playing catch-up. I’m really glad we did; we had a wonderful time, but I left you all in the lurch (though ECLIPSE readers did get the scoop on influences surrounding the Moon/ Sun conjunction–but we still need the main picture).

The New Moon formed at 8:08 PM on the 9th at 17 Leo 24. Here’s the thing: even using a more generous 3 degree orb, we have no major aspects formed by the New Moon. This means two things: that meaning is concentrated within the placement and symbology of the New Moon itself, and that other aspect pictures in place that don’t touch the New Moon will take on a kind of separate but parallel importance. The peripherals are covered in the mag already, but we still have the Sabian image to inspect.

‘A Chemist Conducts an Experiment for His Students’ This suggests something interesting: we are all tasked with playing one role or the other, chemist (or possibly ‘teacher’) or student (or ‘the one who’s receptive to learning’). We take pride in this role, identify with it, and want to shine in it (the Leo placement). Does it matter which role we take? Not really; each is important within the dynamic, as the teacher does not exist without the student, and vice versa. The House where this falls in the natal chart should help one determine which side of the equation one falls on: 1st through 6th and we are likely to play the student, open, receptive, and gaining by taking in, while 7th through 12th we are likely to play the teacher/ chemist, sharing knowledge, experience, and skills and thereby gaining by creating connection and earning respect.

The fact that both parties are involved in an experiment is also of note, as this implies that what is shared/learned is transmitted by the example of reality, in other words, by the real effects and results obtained when we follow the laws of nature. The teacher, then, teaches by demonstrating for the student(s) what can be expected when the elements of life are mixed in the prescribed way. This means that those in the teacher role may be instructing others without realizing it, simply by the results of their own choices, manifested in their lives, and this says that it may be done through positive or negative example. The teachers among us may be less conscious of their role and the ‘lesson’ they’re imparting than they might think; they may simply believe they are being themselves, ‘shining out’ for all to see.

The students among us are at present more acutely attuned to picking up messages from the world; it’s as if they are super-receptive and are poised, waiting for the information that is offered (and is, as the Universe typically arranges it, precisely what the individual needs).

This effect, of course, lasts strongly through the culmination of the Full Moon two weeks later, and continues with a kind of ghost vibe, an echo of newness that continues through to the next New Moon a month later. The New Moon plants a seed that grows and matures; this says that, in the instance of this Leo New Moon, an exchange of energy, information, and advice by example is seeded and helps each of us grow in both strength of identity (we find out something more about who we are) and in connection and sharing with others via the mechanism of skills demonstrated and information offered (we share our abilities and talents–we ‘shine’)–both are Leo-aligned, bringing forward a clear and necessary concentration on the Self for the coming month.

Well, I’m back! So order away–books and magazines will be sent promptly (or, if I’ve retired for the evening when you place your order, as soon as I awake) http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com  I hope you enjoyed the long, Venus-tinged weekend–I did!

12 June 2010: the Gemini New Moon

11 Friday Jun 2010

astrology, Moon, Moon in Gemini, New Moon, Sabian Symbols, the Magazine

The New Moon occurs at 4:14 AM PDT June 12th at 21 Gemini 23. Using our strict two degree rule, the Sun/ Earth axis of the Gemini New Moon makes a couple of minor aspects–but as we know, these are telling of the meaning picture we can expect for the coming Lunar month. First let’s look at the Sabian symbol for this New Moon: ‘Dancing Couples in a Harvest Festival’ http://www.cafeastrology.com/sabiansymbols_degreemeanings.html Gemini is the place for a twosome, alright, but for twins, related pairs, and the image brings to mind dancing partners, mated pairs, which implies opposites–and that signals we should pay direct attention to both what the Sun/ Moon aspects and what this pair’s opposite, the Earth, touches by aspect (normally we would concentrate New Moon attention on the conjunction and its aspects only).

The aspects directly involved with the New Moon picture are these: the Sun/ Moon forms a Fist of God here in Seattle with the Midheaven and Pallas. Since the Midheaven differs at any one moment by location, we must take this as specific to the North/ South axis along which a number of high profile enterprises lie, and see it as the possibility of the inception of something very public that involves commerce or guidance in some form, or perhaps an adjustment involving these (the sesquiquadrates)–and if we take guidance to suggest something like a search engine, then perhaps we’re looking at an announcement involving Bing (Microsoft) or Google, the Mountain View, California location of which shares the same Midheaven aspect, or if we emphasize commerce we may see something from Amazon (Seattle) or PayPal, which again shares a MC aspect at its San Jose, California location–or this could involve the major food producing valleys of California, since Pallas is involved with food as a commodity (and Ceres is in her own configuration at this time–see discussion of this, along with a lot more, in ‘What You Won’t See on the Blog’ in ECLIPSE http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-eclipse-spring-2010/).  All these are possibilities that could affect many or all of us in some way, but for all individuals, one leg of the configuration is defnitely in force: the sesquiquadrate of the Sun/ Moon to Pallas.

This Sun/ Moon/ Pallas contact suggests the need over the coming Lunar month to modify or otherwise adjust to what’s wise or, secondarily, what’s necessary to conduct ‘business,’ which in the end is just the exchange of one thing deemed worthy for another–and the New Moon nature implies this may be a ‘first time’ for this accomodation. The Sabian of couples dancing does suggest entities working together, and the fact that the dance (interaction) is at a harvest festival says that this is a celebration, of sorts, where parties enjoy reaping their rewards. So, perhaps this is the beginning of a personal harvest of some kind, one that requires some adjustment, possibly simply of one’s attitude or communications (Gemini Air) but that pays off, nonetheless.

We musn’t forget the Earth in our analysis; it shows a quincunx to Sedna (or ‘Sedan,’ as I keep typing it!). What is it about our material position that we just won’t be able to see? We can look to the Sabians again for assistance: ‘A Chinese Laundry’ Whew! What could that mean? And why a ‘Chinese Laundry’? Do they hold some kind of ancient Chinese secret? 🙂

No–at least, the Chinese haven’t, as a people, shared anything like this with me, but what this suggests is the kind of industrious and needed labor that those newly arrived to a place are prone to take up–and that implies that the new venture, occurence, or life direction we see with the New Moon may necessitate that we humbly supply what’s useful and needed–that we, figuratively or otherwise, be willing to ‘start at the bottom’ in order to succeed–and this may be the thing we don’t see, when examining the New Moon picture.

Aren’t you tired of me pushing my new magazine? I’m a little embarrassed, frankly, but I’ll say it again: if you enjoy what you find here at the blog, you’ll love ECLIPSE  Take it home for a pittance (a pittance that supports my work and is truly appreciated) and find in-depth articles (and sometimes topics) you’ll see nowhere else, as well as forecast information available only in the mag–Get it! http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-eclipse-spring-2010/

13 May 2010: Fierce Beginnings

Grand Square, Mystic Rectangle, New Moon, Taurus, Taurus New Moon

New Moon for the month is at 6:04 PM PDT at 23 Taurus 09. Nothing falls in aspect within our usual 2 degree orb (in fact, nothing falls within 3 degrees, either!) So, derivation of meaning falls heavily on the Sabian Symbol for the meeting of Sun and Moon, and on a couple of configurations. The Sabian is, ‘An Indian Warrior Riding Fiercely, Human Scalps Hanging From His Belt’ http://www.cafeastrology.com/sabiansymbols_degreemeanings.html

Zow! What a symbol to kick off the Lunar month! It sounds enormously aggressive, until we inspect it a little more closely. This is, more than anything else, a picture story that must be interpreted within a cultural context, within the norm and standards for a lifestyle other than the one to which we’re attuned as members of Western society. Within a Native American framework of the past, this is a picture of a real go-getter, of the most virile member of the social order, acting his part in the group to the hilt. Again, within the cultural context, this is certainly a male, and so represents the animus, the part of the psyche that is the doer, that acts, that’s very Martian in nature; so what’s this symbol doing in Venus-ruled Taurus?

What he carries on his belt is key: human scalps, which within the culture were not so much proof of ferocity (though the taking of them was meant to convey complete seriousness to the takee! who, by the way, did not always die from this procedure); instead, they are status symbols, and as such align perfectly with the Taurean emphasis on the material world and one’s assets and talents. The scalps show one’s bravery, one’s formidable willingness to act, in no uncertain terms. They are irrefutable proof of our ability to ‘go out and get’-which is the mandate of this New Moon.

Taurus, above all, makes use of what it has; it’s not just about possession, but about exploitation, and this is the message of the New Moon, in my opinion: Go fiercely (with energy and exuberance) toward what you want to create, particularly in the way this will make use of talents and assets, and raise status. Be unashamed of your goals-do not feel pressured to search for and dress them up in altruistic motivations-all that we do, want, and be has an effect on the world around us. Wanting a million dollars so you can give generously to charity is no more noble than wanting a million dollars so that you can travel, buy an island, build a business, or throw a giant party, simply because in any case the money flows back out to others (even held in a bank it is being used)-and this means that no matter what, both your desires and the social order are being served (here we enter the consciousness of money, of choosing where to spend or give as an expression of our values-Taurus, again).

Now you may object that status is more a Capricorn thing, but no energy functions in a vacuum, and Taurus works in a world filled with what we have, and what others have, both tangible (possessions) and intangible (talents, skills, and love)-it’s human nature to compare and contrast, and to want-without desire we’d have no reason to do much of anything-so, when we see what we have, and see what others around us have, it’s quite natural to draw from this experience concepts of what we would like to have-and this New Moon is meant to bring realization of what those concepts are, and to put those concepts into action, to seed them quite aggressively (and don’t be hatin’ on the idea of aggression-it’s simply ‘forceful energy,’ and whether you know it or not, you use it all the time-otherwise there wouldn’t be an open pickle jar on earth!)

A Grand Square at the time of the meeting of Sun and Moon, consisting of Venus, Saturn, Ceres, and Uranus, suggests that the New Moon intention will be forged and tested in an atmosphere of status, rules, and how we can play them (Saturn), accepting of our own or others’ authority as the ultimate authority (Ceres-I didn’t say this would be a cake walk!) also rebellion, innovation, sudden ‘moves,’ and reaction of/ place within the group (Uranus), and all of it over reward, over what may be gained, over what we treasure or desire (Venus).

PS Did manage to ignore Sedna’s conjunction–seems appropriate!–but since it only makes the effects difficult to see, and I’ve talked about it so much lately, I don’t think there’s much more to add.

There’s also a Mystic Rectangle; but that’s only discussed in ‘What You Won’t See on the Blog’ in the current issue of ECLIPSE http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-eclipse-spring-2010/ Purchase comes with a free, mini-reading on Ceres in your natal chart by me; just contact me at juliedemboski@hotmail.com post-purchase with your birth data–spell out the month, date, local time at birth, and place name, not co-ordinates-you may substitute someone else for the reading, but only one reading per purchase, please. Men may prefer a look at their Zeus, star of the Winter issue. Submit your data with a good dose of patience; I’m working quickly, but I still can’t fly! For all other reading requests, please see the WANT MORE? page-Please DO NOT contact me until you have looked there, under services-Thank You!

Aquarius, New Moon

Red Lanterns by Dcubillas

We enter the Dark of the Moon this evening, the 10th, PST, and in the darkness find some chance for pre-New Moon renewal. But isn’t the New Moon the point of renewal? you may ask–yes, but this New Moon is going to demand a lot from us; our task in the days leading up to it is to absorb the calm, to gather strength and focus that will be called upon when the Sun and Moon meet.

The New Moon (also the Chinese New Year, which always falls on the New Moon in Aquarius each year) occurs at 6:50 PM PST at 25 Aquarius 17, and there are three aspects made within our strict two degree orb, conjunctions to Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius, and a sextile to Arian Juno (and here’s where I should apologize to Eclipse readers, as I simply left out Neptune in listing aspects for this Moon, though it was taken into account in interpreting the extra information provided in ‘What You Won’t See on the Blog’–http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/eclipse-in-depth-astrology-for-the-21st-century/ Scroll down for article excerpts).

The imperative for this New Moon is clear: we must reach past the hurt and illusion/ deception to find our own, ‘new born’ empowerment, and this must have an intellectual or Higher Mind cast. The hurt and illusion is nothing more than a viewpoint we have superimposed that has allowed us to remain disempowered in the present–but now we are called (or perhaps challenged) to let go of whatever has been misleading us, deluding us, fooling us, distorting our thinking, or making us shy away from our appropriate direction out of fear of being hurt (or, in some cases, out of a fear of bringing forward some of our most unique and accomplished skill sets), and all of these are mentally-oriented. This misdirection has been perpetrated with our cooperation; the Aquarius New Moon asks us to apply the Higher Mind and overcome assumed and accepted limits.

The Sabian for this degree is ‘A Garage Man Testing a Car’s Battery with a Hydrometer’ suggesting applying our skills to a measurement of our energy capacity, and in particular our energy capacity as it is affected by our emotional ‘charge.’ Hydrometer does, after all, suggest ‘measuring water,’ an estimation of the strength of the emotional ‘body’ as it superimposes itself on the realities that surround us. It’s reasonable to draw connection between the emotional state and those things that may have affected our sense of empowerment, and the New Moon symbol implies we have the skills at this point to deal with any impediments.
