'The Sense of Sight' Philip Mercier c1746 {{PD}}

‘The Sense of Sight’ Philip Mercier c1746 {{PD}}

4 AM PDT of the 16th the Aquarius Moon opposes Black Moon Lilith. We may perceive a real distance between our innermost compulsions and temptations and our intellectual understanding of what it is that we need. The best approach to level ground between the two may be to translate those needs through the intuition–skip what you think and go with what you feel. 7:30 AM PDT the Moon trines Mars. Taking action or making choices is easy–the mind is clear on the direction we’d like to take, in spite of Merc’s retro status–or perhaps, because of that apparent backward motion, the mind gets out of its own way that much more easily. If we need cooperation from others, now’s the time to ask. 10:30 AM PDT the Moon trines Zeus. The emotional reactions support the ambitions and desires–without conflict within the feeling nature, we can pursue our wants at twice the usual speed and efficiency. Noon the Moon sextiles Uranus. Spontaneity that rises from our mood can bring surprising and enlightening experiences. 2 PM PDT the Moon trines Vesta, squares Saturn, and semi-sextiles Chiron. Something in the reality scenario gets in the way of us being able to honor those causes to which we’re dedicated, or to spend adequate time on the home front or with the mate–and this results in some hurt, our own or someone else’s. Find out if what you honor is impractical in real-world terms (and so doesn’t fit the reality scenario–if, in other words, what you’re pretending to honor is contradicted by the actual life you’ve built around you) or if the surroundings or commitments need to be modified to allow you to dedicate sufficient time and energy to those things that really matter. 5 PM PDT the Moon trines Ceres, offering us the cooperation or assistance of authorities or harmony between our own feelings and our expressions of power. 10 PM PDT the Moon squares Venus. Relationships may erupt in conflict as one or both parties rely on the intellect in matters that should rely on the heart.

Today’s image is a magnifying glass. Look closely; the details are very important right now.

5 PM PDT the Moon conjuncts Neptune. This is the time for dreaming–or for inattention that can harm or even kill. Stay off heavy machinery, don’t drive–basically avoid everything they tell you to avoid when you take cold medicine! Artists, idealists, prevaricators–jump right in, you’ll be swimming in inspiration and full-blown ideas–take your pick. 8:30 PM PDT the Moon quincunxes Mars. If we ‘own’ our own assertive energies, we are able to deploy them in skillful and imaginative ways; if we disown our assertiveness, we run the risk of attracting anger, aggression, or egotism–unpleasant to deal with, to say the least. Remember, Lunar aspects have a span of influence lasting roughly 4 hours before perfection to 4 hours after.

Today’s image is a clock face with no hands. Though it seems like a cliche, it’s really true that we feel like we have all the time in the world–until we don’t. Just be aware that for us mortal creatures, it’s passing.

“Die Rasenbleiche’ Max Liebermann {{PD}}

3 AM PDT the Cancer Moon and Jupiter form the arm of a T-square with Uranus-Zeus. Intuition or the feeling nature–likely in an exaggerated form–can inform us as to the correct direction to take between going our own way or cooperating in hopes of fulfilling ambitions. 11 AM PDT the Moon squares Vesta, bringing conflict between feeling and the state of the home, the mate, or a cause to which we’re dedicated. We might need to ask ourselves whether we care as much as we think we do; genuine affection would most likely translate as acceptance rather than upset. 3 PM PDT the Moon trines Saturn, making it easy to contain our affections and give them tangible forms (or clear boundaries). 5 PM PDT the Moon squares Ceres. We find our own concerns are not the same as those of authorities, maternal figures, or those with whom we are negotiating; a quick review of who needs what may be all it takes to straighten priorities out. 9 PM PDT the Moon sextiles Sedna. By caring we access a part of our psyche and sensibilities that is usually out of range–enjoy the insight.

Today’s image is two small birds scuffling in the sky over territory. Most upset is over inconsequentials; make a point today to skirmish only over what really matters, Big Picture.

Almond Tree in Bloom by Van Gogh 1890 {{PD}}

Almond Tree in Bloom by Van Gogh 1890 {{PD}}

1 May personal empowerment comes through following instinctive prompts, or by digging deep to our primal inclinations. Relationships and finances figure in to life direction; with Venus in Pisces, we may be deluding ourselves that things are ideal when they’re not—or, we could be missing the true costs or rewards of pursuing our Path. We may see aggression (or at least assertion) work for others today, but don’t go there: it will have ugly consequences that we just don’t want to deal with. Just remember that the spotlight is on those who aggress, those who act precipitously, but that doesn’t mean that what they do is a good idea, or right. (Juno parallel Sedna, Venus quincunx the North Node, Sun quincunx Mars)

Today’s image is a small, misshapen apple tree, loaded with beautiful blossoms being nuzzled by countless bees. Often, we can’t know what’s going on below the surface; something can look completely unremarkable (even unfit) and yet produce an extraordinary abundance. There’s something in your life that you might be dismissing as ‘less than’ that could contain the capacity to generate an amazing bounty; take a second (or third, or fourth) look, and see what’s really there.

'Flaming June' by Frederic Leighton 1895 {{PD}}

‘Flaming June’ by Frederic Leighton 1895 {{PD}}

Today’s image is a woman who falls asleep repeatedly throughout the day. Something is pulling us, offering a way into the unconscious, offering connection to the Cosmos with the perception that barriers are dissolved, that we are that star stuff. Whatever is attracting you, exerting an attraction on you, pulling you into that space where all boundaries are lost, whether it’s sleep as it is for the woman in the image, or some other Neptunian instrument, each of us must allow ourselves to be informed through the unconscious of our part in All-That-Is. Inspiration lives here, as does the essence of spirituality, the creative spark, and our link with the Collective; our visit to this region of the psyche promises to imbue our waking life with something to drive, influence, or add to our New Moon eclipse new start.

‘Landscape with Ravens’ Egon Schiele 1911 {{PD}}

Today’s image is a raven, sitting in a nearby tree, calling and calling. A bird represents the ability to get above it all, to see things from a higher perspective. You are being called to take a larger view of something you’ve been considering only from ‘ground level’. A new viewpoint will offer not just more information, but a broader and more detailed context in which to place what you already know.

‘Concert on a Balcony’ Gerard van Honthorst 1624 {{PD}}

Today’s image is a group of strangers who gather for a concert, and find communion in the companionship and the music. We must stay open to those times that offer, through something as simple as a shared musical experience, an authentic spiritual one. Remaining aware of the larger spiritual currents behind those experiences we share is vital to maintaining connection to (and compassion for) all others, as well as understanding our own place in the Cosmos.

19 April There may be a kind of cognitive dissonance between our perceptions (especially the mentality with which we face things) and what we typically honor or consider sacred. Expediency may trump upholding values, at least at first glance, and we may find ourselves or others obscuring the facts out of a desire not to find out about or deal with anything unpleasant—and worse, even if we’re trying to make contact with the Truth, it may reside in our ‘blind spot’, and so be unfindable. The best course is a prudent one: respect your usual priorities, even if they don’t seem important right now, stick to the facts, speak with clarity and respect for all (especially if you don’t feel it!) and don’t allow yourself to get contentious with your ‘traditional’ adversaries, even if the complaint seems justified or harmless—you won’t gain any ground in the scuffle. (Neptune sesquiquadrate Vesta, Venus quincunx Mars, Mercury opposed Vesta, semi-square Neptune, and parallel Sedna, Sun moves into Taurus and Earth into Scorpio)

Today’s image is a man dressed as a magnificent wizard, his companion walking along in a t-shirt and jeans–but it’s the companion who holds all the magic. This one’s self-explanatory: don’t be fooled by outward appearances–don’t think you know just by looking, or by what someone tells you they are–they have to show it, too.

‘Nymphs Bathing’ by Antonio Muñoz Degrain no later than 1924 {{PD}}

Today’s image is two nymphs in a forest clearing at night; they lean together, and one pours some burning oil from her vessel into the empty one the other carries–now both hold lights in the darkness. This image refers to the sharing of real knowledge–not what we think we know, but those things we are sure of; they illuminate our lives–and if we tell others, they get the benefit as well. Today you may be called on at some point to share knowledge that will profoundly help another–don’t hesitate, don’t be afraid.

Portrait of Marguerite van Mons by T Van Rysselberghe {{PD}}

27 March wisdom comes from Nature, our own inner nature or what we observe in the wild. Connecting with the nature/ wisdom message could be the doorway to healing empowerment situations, and to changing what needs to be changed, in particular our current way of taking in and processing information; it may be important to break down our old method of mental processing (which probably contains a lot of assumptions that are no longer valid) in order to construct something more suitable to how we think and how we communicate now; our example, once again, is in Nature, or found in consciously harmonizing our inner process with our current needs. (Perfecting today: Pallas parallel Ceres, Chiron contra-parallel and Pluto square Juno, Mercury sesquiquadrate the North Node and Vesta, and sextile Pluto)

Today’s image is a color: a blue slightly darker and richer than a peacock’s feather. Whenever you see it, you’ll know it’s a marker in time, a synchronous moment, or a flag telling you something important is happening, and so to pay attention.
