The AstroEssence: We may feel it’s vital we show our wisdom simultaneously with our power, out of a need to exaggerate both. Examine the insecurity that drives this, if you find yourself going in this direction, as it speaks of much greater vulnerabilities than we might imagine–and these need to be addressed, before they lead us to deny our values or commitments for some anticipated reward, relationship, or financial potential that will in the end definitely not be what we want (Chiron parallel Ceres, Jupiter parallel Pallas, Venus contra-parallel Vesta)

Today’s word image is water. As often happens, the image can have many possible meanings, but today I’m thinking it’s something that when spotted should draw our attention to the underlying emotional content of the situation.

For those born with the Sun at 24 Sagittarius: You may have been ignoring your instincts as of late, but they’re trying to break through, and you need to help them. In order to ‘hear’ the messages (some of which are warnings) they’re sending, you need to: pay attention to the entire material/ physical scene, not just the parts you like; you need to embrace all the facts, not just the ones you like; you need to admit that the social gauge in which you operate has a few things to tell you that could be very useful, and make enough difference to facilitate success; and you have to be sincere in what you care for–no faking it. Follow these suggestions, and by Solar year’s end, before or just after your next birthday you should see all the pieces fall into place, offering an emotional peace that can support those instinctive messages and bring about a new, improved state of identity and Soul development. Good luck, Sagittarius, and Happy Birthday!

James Tissot – ‘Two Sisters’ 1862 {{PD}}

The AstroEssence: Even though our actions and choices are practical and smart, we may somehow end up sabotaging ourselves; matters buried, ignored, and unresolved push out without our realizing, shaping our efforts before we even begin to think about them, and we cause further damage when we reach for power before considering the consequences and responsibilities, before we even consider whether we want it! At this time, what we don’t acknowledge can hurt us; what we ignore or don’t admit twists our impulses and our thinking, just enough to contort our intentions and bring unanticipated results. We approach things seriously–and find we have a kind of genius for making permanent and significant changes right now–just take care that what you alter, you won’t later long for in its previous condition (Ceres sesq NN, Mars conj Pallas, parallel Black Moon Lilith, and nov Pluto, Sun semi-sq Venus)

A special note on the Sun’s current relationship to Venus: a semi-square is the most inharmonious aspect the Sun can make to Venus. In the natal chart, if we see the Sun as the primary significator of the Self, the contention is (as explained by Astrologer Isabel Hickey) that in spite of this internal discord, the individual can’t truly be at odds with the concept of Love; there can be only so much ‘drift’ within the Soul away from the elemental force of the Universe. That said, in a personal instance there is some misconception of Love that must be resolved before relationships or earning ability can reach peak form–consciousness (the Sun) must find harmonious footing with Love (Venus). When we see this aspect made up of two transiting bodies, as it is today, this discord enters the air; relationships and finances both reach a point of maximum critical tension, the kind of conflict that exists within an otherwise caring scenario. The good news is that this is as bad as it gets–and if you’ve been dealing with some situation where love (or money) was the missing ingredient, you now have a chance to see precisely where (and possibly why) there’s a lack, and fill it.

Today’s word image is an Artist opening a new box of oil pastels. Whatever role you ‘wear’, gather your materials, and get to work–it’s not just prime-time for the creative or for skilled expression of all kinds, it’s a time when we need an expressive outlet, in order to deal with atmospheric tension and discord, even, or maybe most especially, when we’re not an active part of it.

For those born with the Sun at 23 Sagittarius: You’re gearing up to make your move, but first you’ve got to deal with all those matters ignored, denied, or that enrage, because they’re gumming up your otherwise excellent instincts–and if you expect to take advantage of the many opportunities keyed precisely to your ambitions that will be coming your way this Solar year, through to your next birthday, you’d better get to the psychic housecleaning. Good luck, Sagittarius, and Happy Birthday!

The AstroEssence: Prior to the culmination of the Moon-Earth/ Sun-Saturn opposition, we’ll likely be caught up with the power situation as it exists in our world, and particularly with two facets of it: what kind of hurt other power players or those in authority may have inflicted in the past, and how we might exploit and deploy our own urges toward gaining power via opportunities, especially in the form of satisfying appetites. Though this can prompt a little more navel-gazing and a few more vengeance fantasies than are productive, we are keyed toward obtaining power or influence within a situation only in the smartest way–and so we likely avoid indulging in anything either counter-productive or that triggers negative consequences down the road (Chiron contra-parallel Ceres, Pluto nov Pallas, Jupiter conj Zeus)

Full Moon in Gemini occurs at 4:05 PM Pacific time at 22 Gemini 25. The Mystic Rectangle of which the Full Moon is a part actually formed a couple of days ago, but the FM will probably bring the potentials initiated by formation to completion, realization, or expression–that is, something that only began to show itself or take shape just before or early in the weekend (maybe even gathering momentum out of our sight) now reaches fulfillment, becomes obvious, or concludes. The arms of the Mystic Rectangle are made up of: Moon-Earth in Gemini, Ceres-Uranus in Aries, Sun-Saturn in Sagittarius, Jupiter-Zeus in Libra. Active modalities are Cardinal and Mutable, Elements involved are Air and Fire, and we may have a more-than-usually high chance of the Full Moon events having a material or environmental, real-world impact, not just via the Cardinal energy, but due to the involvement of Earth, Saturn, and Ceres. Mental perceptions play a part as well, through Uranus (the intellect), Gemini, and Libra–and we may put beliefs in both the mental and emotional categories (Jupiter), with emotions a natural component of a Full Moon, which typically reveals, concludes, or completes a feeling response or emotional perception in relation to ourselves and our identity (the Sun)–but in what arena?

This little cocktail is a 'Bittersweet Symphony

This little cocktail is a ‘Bittersweet Symphony’ By Visitor7 – Own work, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=33142586

First though, what does a Mystic Rectangle promise? Think of it as a kind of cocktail made of energy. Each component gives us a single, unique ‘taste’, but it’s only when everything is combined in just the right amounts that it takes on a nuanced flavor that goes beyond any one ingredient. A Mystic Rectangle is the proportional ‘mix’ that creates a sum much bigger than its parts by bringing together at least four disparate but harmoniously relating energies–in this case, we have eight. These energy ‘flavors’ play off each other, acting as both receivers and catalysts, and so acting and being acted upon. Add to this the emotional and conclusive states inherent in the Full Moon, and we have something both dynamic, indicating the relationships of these bodies and the way they create something larger than they could individually, and something complete, meaning that the energy of the mix finds a final, definitive form at this point, and it’s likely something that brings an emotional perception or reality to a peak, or to an end.

Where the Full Moon falls, as well as where each of the Rectangle’s points falls, within the natal chart will tell the individual where in the life this dynamic will be in play; the general pattern, though, tells us that the synergy of the emotional impact of our surroundings and how we think of these (the Moon-Earth in Gemini) bring original or unusual individual responses that urge action and use of power, the kind that makes a statement about who we are that we want others to see or hear (Ceres-Uranus in Aries), and this statement affects our real-world situation (Sun-Saturn in Sagittarius), revealing beliefs and facts about the kind of cooperation or support we can expect in fulfilling our wants and ambitions (Jupiter-Zeus in Libra). The Full Moon shows the result of a complex interaction of the actual reality situation and our perceptions of it, especially our emotional perceptions.

There is also a quincunx of the Full Moon to Black Moon Lilith, a trine to Mars, and a square of Chiron with the Sun-Earth axis. This suggests that, though a Mystic Rectangle is a generally fortuitous configuration, implying the potential for serendipitous circumstances and ‘coincidences’ and really excellent timing of events and choices, these may come about through or are accompanied by difficulties. There is the possibility that the Full Moon brings or is followed by the uncomfortable need to examine what has been ignored, denied, or that has enraged, and this comes with both conflict over wounds inflicted and received and how they’ve shaped Self-expression and accomplishment, and creates a strong, no-holds-barred sense of needing to act, to do something about what’s perceived. That tells us that, though we may be highly conscious of and possibly actively involved with stresses at the time of the Full Moon, there will be available a set of positive synchronicities that we will most likely first become aware of through the feeling nature, and/ or through some kind of completion or ending–and if we can hook that urge to act to the symmetry of the Rectangle, we can take leaps forward in both consciousness and accomplishment.

The Sabian for the Full Moon is, ‘Three Fledglings In A Nest High In A Tree’ In this symbol we have a ‘Trinity’ of something new, untested, ‘fresh’, ready (or very close to ready) to ‘leave the nest’ for the first time. This implies that whatever is completed at the Full Moon will then be ready for a ‘test flight’, to be taken out and tried in the real world. This sends us back to the point of the Rectangle that holds Jupiter-Zeus in Libra; Jupiter can represent the social order, the wider world, ‘the facts’ this world presents to us, and echoes the relation of Beliefs (Jupiter) to the spiritual number of the Trinity within the symbol. The matters of whatever House holds 18 Libra in your chart will describe where or in what capacity (what role) you will be bringing the Full Moon experience, after processing, out into the world, both to test its viability and to test its spiritual resiliency. In some way, what we are testing in the world will reflect our ambitions or wants, and we bring this forward with the goal of finding out how much support we might expect, and how these fledglings (ideas, choices, actions, creations) will affect our relationships and even our finances (Libra).

We also look to the Sabian for the Sun, as this gives us the ‘origin story’, the energy that drives the Full Moon picture. ‘A Group Of Immigrants As They Fulfill The Requirements Of Entrance Into The New Country’. This suggests that what occurs or is accomplished at this time is something we’ve been moving toward for a long time, something we have (literally or figuratively) studied for, filed the paperwork for, uprooted ourselves for, gone on an adventure for, left behind a previous life for, and/or crossed borders or boundaries to attain. We are on the threshold of something akin to a brand new life–let’s savor it.

The AstroEssence: We’re willing to do the deep work, even to act against our instinct to turn away, and this willingness shines a light on our true situation in terms of power and authority, even as it shapes relationships and/ or finances, and in doing so shapes the future. ‘Shape’ might be too strong a word, really; it’s more like relationships or finances ‘pick up the vibe’ of that deep work, and this creates the kind of intangible change from which the future is formed. Flex your muscles, connect with Nature, cooperate with authorities who offer approval (this latter works out much better for us than we might see at the time) (Pluto semi-sq Hygeia, Mars sq Sedna, Venus qnx NN, Sun trine Ceres)

Icelandic Gyrfalcons by James Audubon 1838 {{PD}}

Icelandic Gyrfalcons by James Audubon 1838 {{PD}}

Today’s word image is a falcon. A bird of prey must have something it’s hunting–not only is that it’s nature, it’s the way it survives. Do we condemn a falcon for being what it is? We might if we’re its prey, but really, no, we don’t. Realize that to certain others, we might seem to be human ‘birds of prey’, while to us someone else is; inevitably, it seems, to some extent everyone sees themselves as a victim. We’re not talking circle of life here, we’re talking viewpoint, and how strength in any situation is almost automatically seen as predatory by those who don’t have it, while in another situation, the assessment of who’s predator, who’s prey, may be much different.

For those born with the Sun at 21 Sagittarius: It’s all about who holds power and authority in your life right now, isn’t it? Even situations that don’t seem to involve power must be recognized as based on the current power picture, and you are primed to do it. Determining what you want to do (exercising power) and who you want to be (power over your own life) is the heart of what you’ll deal with, now through this Solar year to your next birthday. Hints to handle it well: don’t insist on being totally original–that’s a trap–and don’t hurt anybody. Good luck, Sagittarius, and Happy Birthday!

Hugo Simberg  'The Wounded Angel' - Haavoittunut enkeli 1902 {{PD}}

Hugo Simberg ‘The Wounded Angel’ – Haavoittunut enkeli 1902 {{PD}}

The AstroEssence for the 10th: We see reality–and normally I would follow that with ‘like it or not’–but today we’re almost guaranteed to see the advantages in our real-world situation, to perceive how we can best profit, gain Love, or create relationships within it, and we are creatively adept, and so on our game in terms of both originality and aesthetic judgment. The only caveat is this: none of this will apply if one is divorced from ‘the Truth’ (which, really, is just another name for reality). At the very least, take a good hard look at where you are in the lifetime goals and achievement spectrum today; though accomplishments aren’t everything, Saturn demands a certain amount of building, even if those constructions aren’t tangible (Saturn conjoined by the Sun, sextiled by Zeus, and paralleled and semi-squared by Venus, Sun at the midpoint of Saturn-Zeus, Mercury sxt Neptune and sesq Sedna)

Today’s word image is a hummingbird feeder, cracked by a hard freeze. Yes, ice imagery again–this time applying to a source of supply. Something that offers assets or is the origin of sustenance for us (think in broad terms of support or nurture) is suddenly unavailable–and that means we’re thrown back on our own devices, at least temporarily. Be prepared.

For those born with the Sun at 19 Sagittarius: You have finished or are now in the process of finishing up or ending something major–now what? You may be tempted to mess it all up, to rebel against the constraints of what you’ve just created, but you know better than that–what you really need to do is avoid looking for ways others aren’t supportive (your energy can get lost in this, feeling sorry for yourself, and so kill your forward momentum); instead look for what you’ve learned from your past experiences, especially the hurtful ones, and put to work the skills you’ve acquired from those circumstances. If you do, you’ll discover some pretty amazing skills are at your disposal–and then it will be your duty to put them to work. Good luck, Sagittarius, and Happy Birthday!

The AstroEssence for the 11th: How troubling! There’s an underlying current that prompts us to destroy or otherwise negate our commitments to those very things and individuals and causes that are most important to us. We’re susceptible to this because we’re put off a little by what we know to be wise–we’re resentful of the constraints it puts on us or the demands it makes on us–and we’re likely to feel that health demands full communications and unfettered thinking; that, however, is a recipe for hurt and a prompt for us to be our most unreliable and erratic Self–which of course is not in line with values. Instead of responding to this with a childish insistence on ‘being free’, we might do better to take the focus off ourselves and look at the impact we can have on others–and then vow to make it a positive one (Venus parallel Pluto and opp Vesta, Merc semi-sq Pallas and nov Hygeia, Sun-Earth axis in T-sq with Chiron, Sun trine Uranus and sesq Vesta)

Today’s word image is a wound that isn’t life threatening, but won’t heal. This is more common than one might think; you yourself might even suffer from one. The danger with this situation is that one can become obsessed with the wound, allowing its existence to command the life–and that’s not to mention the way worry over its refusal to heal can distract and debilitate. The message here may be something as simple (and as hard to do) as fully realizing the import of not stressing over matters we can do nothing about. That realization offers a kind of grace, and a certain freedom, that takes us beyond material concerns.

For those born with the Sun at 20 Sagittarius: This coming Solar year, through to your next birthday, you’ll be busy confronting hurts and allowing that to crack open the personality in such a way that your expressions become entirely original and very forward-thinking. What you do with this ‘gift’ is up to you, but it will almost certainly require you to reassess your commitments and to reconsider where and with whom you best invest your time and energy. You are almost certain to regret some of those investments made in the past; now’s your time to correct them. Good luck, Sagittarius, and Happy Birthday!

The AstroEssence: What we know to be wise battles instincts and those things in our ‘blind spot’ (defined as areas where we lack connection to the real-world truth of things), and actions and choices are at least in part responses to those matters we’d rather ignore, deny, or that enrage us–and that means we’re sitting on a load of emotional jet fuel, ready to launch ourselves into orbit with a sense of indignation while still managing to maintain the illusion that what we’re doing or how we’re reacting is justified and makes sense. We’ll be looking to blame others; boy, are we off the mark! So what does make sense, considering we’re personally unable to round up all the facts? There are two things we can rely on to navigate: one is push back; when we’re doing something unwise, or acting in a way that’s based on suppressed emotion, we’ll feel immediate, seemingly non-specific tension–that’s our clue that we’ve wandered into potentially destructive territory. The other navigational aid might seem ineffective, unless we’re aware of how much our framing of the situation affects how we handle it–then we’ll know to put an optimistic twist on things, one that highlights any opportunities circumstances may present. Today’s word image is a frozen bird bath, autumn leaves caught in the stiff swirls of water. Though there are several possible messages here, the one I find most applicable is the idea that the frozen water disrupts the routine–so you may want to look for ways to change it up, or you may want to wait and see what’s withdrawn, made unavailable, or is suddenly difficult, and take that as a suggestion to spend your time otherwise.

For those born with the Sun at 18 Sagittarius: This year may feel like a ‘now or never’ time, when you are either stopped dead in your tracks with no way to go forward, or when you finally see the fruits of your hard work delivered. Which will it be? Past ‘investment’ of time and energy will have a lot to do with which of these two alternatives materializes for you. Two ways to maximize the potentials of this Solar year: reach out to others, especially where information exchange benefits both parties, and take opportunities as they come, rather than waiting for ‘better’ ones, or delaying, thinking they’ll exist forever. Good luck, Sagittarius, and Happy Birthday!

Enjoy your Friday!

The AstroEssence: We resist preoccupation with those things that linger in the shadows, that distress us and distract from what needs to be done; we instead rush headlong into the future–at least in our own minds, if not in the actions we pursue. Not having our minds on the present can signal inspired thinking that takes us forward, or inattentiveness that kills efforts on the vine. Relationships and finances take their most healthy forms–and that means that any ‘falling away’ we experience at this time is really the best course for us, and that unpleasantness or lack is meant to foster better approaches and methods in us–so one way or another, we benefit (Venus parallel Hygeia, Mercury semi-sq Black Moon Lilith and trine NN)

Today’s word image is a single page from a book. It flutters down from the book shelf, you read it and would like to know what book it comes from as it’s intriguing, but none of the books on the shelves match the page! This image reminded me of those memories that pop up and seem not to fit anything about your life–maybe it’s a way you behaved once, maybe it’s something that happened that seems like a dream now, so unlikely did the events play out, but whatever it is, it doesn’t have a place within who you are; instead it’s an outlier that can make us uncomfortable, as it hints at either unacknowledged facets within ourselves, or that life is much less predictable than we suppose. If you’ve had some kind of memory like this ‘visit’ you lately, welcome it, because it probably tells you about something, some quality or inclination, that lingers just below the surface, and that you might be smart to take a stand on before it influences things again.

For those born with the Sun at 17 Sagittarius: Opportunity and desire will serendipitously come together for you this coming Solar year, through to your next birthday–so what more do you need? An awareness both that time is passing, and that the unexpected could play a big role in what occurs after you take advantage of those chances to get what you want, and in being aware that the time frame for modifying and fine-tuning the Self is over–it’s time to work with what you’ve got, perfected or not. Good luck, Sagittarius, and Happy Birthday!

The AstroEssence: Venus enters Aquarius and feelings, especially surrounding relationships, get crossed with the intellect; emotional perceptions will lag behind real-world events, and that means we’ll realize we needed a witty retort, will get upset with what was communicated, or feel we must answer someone or something, well after the event that triggered the feeling. This may send a large number of us around grumbling under our breath, and result in choices and actions that have the aim of showing us our own power–whether that’s a productive goal or not. Because of the emotional experience, we may become enamored of flexing our muscles, just to show we can. It arises from a feeling of helplessness engendered by the frustration of those lagging emotional perceptions, but we should take care to look at the content of the frustration more than the feeling itself; we’re likely to find that we’re hanging our agitated emotions on a minor incident that doesn’t warrant such a response. Too, examining the actual exchange may reveal something we need to address that can remove the source of (probably unconscious) irritation, once and for all.

We should also talk about the squine (yes, ugly name, isn’t it? It comes from the way this contact of 105 degrees falls just between a square–90 degrees–and a trine–120) formed between Mercury and Uranus-Ceres (with Uranus-Ceres also contacting Chiron and Mars, the latter aspecting Mercury). Squines may tell us about difficult situations that bring luck or ease, or conversely, about something we think we can breeze through that brings no end of conflict. In this instance, we might see Uranus-Ceres in Aries as representative of the individual impulses toward both power and originality, with Mercury in Capricorn suggesting restrictive thoughts, communications, and ideas from the Self or others. In the most general terms this could suggest that something forbids, restrains, or requires discipline or a definite ‘shape’, and we respond either spontaneously and uniquely, or spontaneously and rebelliously, but either way we make our choice, influenced by our wounds and our need to act and show others our power within the situation–for better or worse. Also important to know: our ambitions and desires don’t enjoy the benefit of our instincts today–so stick to the facts and don’t indulge impulses in this department–they are more likely prompted by fears or wishes than the guidance of internal knowing (Mars sxt Ceres, Merc semi-sq Mars, Zeus contra-parallel Sedna, Venus enters Aquarius)

Here’s your Venus in Aquarius experience

Today’s word image is the color green. It’s our color for sychronicities, for grabbing our attention and bringing us into the present moment, and suggests when we notice it we may have an opportunity for growth, we may be meeting something entirely new and should be aware of that (we’re ‘green’ in the sense of inexperienced), or it could be a warning that we are possibly jealous and unaware of it (‘the green-eyed monster’ ‘green with jealousy’).

For those born with the Sun at 16 Sagittarius: serious, earth-shattering revelations and change are on the agenda for you, now through to your next birthday, but the funny thing is, this may happen without your conscious awareness, and may be so subtle or behind-the-scenes that it ends up taking you completely by surprise. It may go down like this: the change comes, and with it opportunity/ good fortune–and you must take that while you can, as you’ll either soon be required to take on a solid, dependable role, or will be faced with a formidable obstacle. That’s your map for the coming year. Good luck, Sagittarius, and Happy Birthday!

‘La mort de la mère’ Ernest Lincker c1911 {{PD}}

The AstroEssence: Benefits of all kinds come from ‘clean living’ (whatever that means to you) and this apparently involves pursuing our ambitions, being creative, and being open to spontaneous action. It seems health in all areas comes from a positive and pro-active Self-focus that calls for realization of our goals. That’s a very nice recipe for going after exactly what we want, but keep in mind: success with these energies requires us to reassess our commitments (willingly revising our standards so they are real-world oriented and practical), be cautious, as making choices and taking action brings the unexpected, and we need to be actively aware that the spotlight will naturally fall on the Beautiful, the Prosperous, on Relationships, Finances, areas of Cooperation, Diplomatic endeavors, and on those things that we might envy. With those matters spotlighted, we need to either learn from what we observe and/ or be aware that what we’re seeing is exaggerated, and may present an unreal level of ‘perfection’ that we should not expect ourselves to attain (chiefly because it’s essentially an illusion) (Hygeia nov Zeus, Mars sxt Uranus, Venus sxt Hygeia and nov Neptune, Mercury qnx Vesta, Sun parallel Venus)

Edvard Munch - Death and the Child (1899) {{PD}}

Edvard Munch – Death and the Child (1899) {{PD}}

Today’s word image is a dream I had last night, the message of which I will translate: no one can escape death. Grim, right? Except, how differently would we behave if we actually accepted that idea, that we would indeed one day end (at least in our current form)? If we did accept it, that is, truly realize it, we would probably have a viewpoint much closer to the one we see in those who have gone through a terrible ordeal, a disaster, a life-changing illness, or a near-death experience: we would likely see things in a more eternal light, with much different kinds of ‘investment’ made in the everyday. What we appreciate would change markedly, as would what we care about. It’s worth trying to consciously adopt a seriously long view in our decision-making and our energy investments at this point, mostly because we just can’t know what our choices will bring (reflected by the current Mars-Uranus sextile).

For those born with the Sun at 15 Sagittarius: If you can accept some major change that’s coming up shortly, you will encounter some big opportunities or ‘lucky’ turn of events this Solar year, through to your next birthday. These will, perhaps surprisingly, be followed by the need for serious hard work, in order to make the most of them, to cement their benefits in place, and to make the achievements they make possible permanent. At the same time, the emotional life may be tough, as feelings may clash with your Self-image and you could be the victim of deception, or possibly just fall for an illusion. Good luck, Sagittarius, and Happy Birthday!

The AstroEssence for the 3rd: We may be misguided about the intentions or actual actions of those in charge–and we clash, or we show our upset, feeling we’re not allowed to be our most creative Self. That’s really just a distraction, though, and only those who are busy avoiding knowing what they can do to improve their own situation stall there. Everyone else sees the opportunity promised by solid effort, and the gains to be made by accessing instinct and being willing to look at our own weaknesses, and then do something about them (Neptune sq Juno, Jupiter nov NN, Mars sxt Saturn, Venus trine Sedna)

Today’s word image is a crow. I’ve seen and heard this bird referred to an unusual number of times in the past 24 hours–and that usually means it’s something to pay attention to. The striking thing is that most of the references were negative, referring to them as pests–but to me they’re something of a totem, a creature much more intelligent (there’s video here, crow vs. kindergartner here, and a little something on their love life here) than we’ve realized before, even able to communicate with one another, to recognize different humans, and to use tools. As a symbol the crow suggests there’s something or someone operating in our sphere that we’re underestimating–and so perhaps not respecting, or giving the regard, we should.

For those born with the Sun at 12 Sagittarius: It may seem that relationships or funds you thought were in the bag are now slipping away–but were they ever really in your grasp? This Solar year, through to your next birthday, you’re going to see what made you think you had it, what made it slip away, and you’ll more than likely be given a second chance. Make the most of it by 1) putting actual, physical (or at least materially tangible) hard work into it, and 2) by not allowing the emotions (which will probably feel like they’re at a crisis point through much of the year) to be subsumed by the intellect. Follow that prescription, and you should reach your next birthday in a much better position to get what you want–you might even by then already have it. Good luck, Sagittarius, and Happy Birthday!

The AstroEssence for the 4th: This may be a day when we and others are inclined to go right for what we desire, and yet there’s this undercurrent, a sense that we’ve forgotten something, or that there’s something we just don’t see, that’s going to catch up with us. If we’re willing to accept we may have made a poor decision or two, or hurt someone in the past, then we will (for lack of a better word) attract a much more positive outcome to our efforts. Maybe it’s the power of genuine humility, or maybe it’s that in removing the kinds of barriers that denial erects, we allow a lot more good stuff in, too (Chiron sesq Vesta, Neptune parallel SN, Mars trine Zeus, Venus nov SN, Mercury nov Black Moon Lilith)

Today’s word image is a crystal ball. In the figurative sense, we’re always hoping someone has one and can tell us what’s coming. Don’t worry about what’s coming–and in particular, don’t worry about what others are saying is coming. Soothsayer or not, nobody really knows what tomorrow brings.

For those born with the Sun at 13 Sagittarius: You’ll be attaining emotional equilibrium soon–and after some time of being off-balance, that will feel really good. This coming Solar year, through to your next birthday, you really want to want to use that balanced state to get done all that you Want To Do, but don’t get ahead of yourself–first you need to clear our what doesn’t belong. Then you’ll be able to go full steam ahead. Good luck, Sagittarius, and Happy Birthday!

The AstroEssence for the 5th: The outlook? Love and/ or Money appears or makes its presence known, in real-world terms. That might be very very good (Venus nov Saturn)

Today’s word image is a cat sleeping curled on a window ledge. What can we learn from a cat, besides independence, good Self-esteem, and grace? A cat never makes itself stay awake. Get all the rest you need, and don’t feel bad for doing it.

For those born with the Sun at 14 Sagittarius: You’re closing in on finishing, accomplishing, or otherwise laying the foundations for something you’ve worked at for a long time–so what seems to be the problem? Your own ambitions may be the sticking point; you may be insisting on having things just so–and that suggests you’re not trusting the Universe quite as much as you might need to, to get the best results. Relax, and know that you’re on the way to having that hard work recognized–just got to loosen up a bit, first. Good luck, Sagittarius, and Happy Birthday!
