On the 27th we are ready to choose or take action based on our highest values and goals, and fortune smiles upon us, poised to heap on the rewards, as long as we follow a few simple precepts: don’t allow yourself to be dragged back into past ways of thinking or to past situations, especially in relationships or in relation to values; don’t ignore or deny any part of the reality picture–all must be considered; and treat everyone fairly and as an equal. With this latter idea, we sometimes approach it as, ‘I grant you the right to be considered equal to me’. No no no no–any high-handedness will come back as a b*tch slap to the ego–a review of what true humility entails will be in order for some, before those actions and choices will really be effective.

By the 28th, though our minds are on the future, we could see our efforts hit a brick wall, often in subtle ways that are hard to pin down. The reasons are either financial, or due to relationship facets we aren’t acknowledging–and what’s new to us isn’t easily integrated into the reality picture. With Saturn currently major body of latest degree, we may feel inexplicably shut down. The only answer that will get things moving may be to take a radical (for each individual) tack, to try something previously untried, or to act atypically for our usual character and responses. This doesn’t have to be negative or earth-shaking; it does need to let us see things in a new way.

26 August 2015: Optimism Abounds

Thinking is positive, constructive, steady, with hints of brilliance, and communications can solidify plans and set deals in stone. Even if we don’t like what we hear, it doesn’t hurt us, and optimism abounds. What could go wrong? We could overdo–but there are worse things, right? Shine, let others know who you are and what you can do, go Big, or just hang around–in any case, share the Love, share the essence of who you are, and watch things happen, most of them very good.

‘Vesta in the Natal Chart’ should debut next week! At more than 50,000 words, it offers profiles of Vesta in action in the charts of well-known individuals, definitions of the asteroid in aspect to the other energies and in the Houses, and a personal workbook to help you pinpoint your Vestal priorities. Watch here for the release!

What’s really driving everyone today is hidden; as long as we accept that, we’ll see that empowerment or understanding can’t be aimed for, it’s just something we’ll have to stumble into, if it’s attained at all. That’s freeing, in its own way, and could help us to allow experiences, thoughts, or approaches we would normally turn away from, and so give results something fresh and unanticipated.

Don’t let anybody tell you that relationships formed online aren’t real. Yesterday I learned of the passing of a long-time client, and I mourn her. The funny thing is that from my point of view, all of you, readers and clients, are a group; I expect this to affect you, too, even though it’s unlikely you know this woman. Someone dear, funny, smart, and aligned with a mystical point of view has left the Collective; together, we can’t help but feel the loss of such a spirit. I like to think that now her questions will be answered and the mysteries that plagued her will be solved at last. Sending you love on your journey, Claire–we’ll miss you!

Why is it that those with whom we expect to be in harmony, especially partners, are bringing up all those things we’d rather ignore? Why does everything that’s communicated feel so hurtful, even when it’s clearly not intended as such? We’re stronger than ever, especially mentally, with a number of recent positive steps forward supporting our current healthy approach, so what gives? It’s something about going forward, about ambitions and the way we’re seeing them, that is unbalancing things. Too much attention is on, ‘I Want’, and the mere weight of our own Self-interest is making cooperation or collaboration feel like a demanding burden; Self-focus is endowing us with a bat-like sensitivity that’s picking up every micro-shift in the air and magnifying our own feelings in response–no wonder it feels like interacting hurts! The good news is that this reveals precisely how and where we are overly sensitive, where we may be carrying hurts that would be long healed if not for our insistence on nurturing them. Let them go, and proceed through the day freely–that personal power you feel right now? That’s the ability to make things happen.

There’s a nice, long Void today, beginning just after 3 PM Pacific for the Sagittarius Moon, not ending until entry into Capricorn at 9:21 PM PDT. Don’t try to push forward at this time, and anything started now, or commitments made, may end abruptly and prematurely, or just may not go anywhere at all. Plan on a little adventure, maybe outdoors, for the last hours of the Moon in Sag–

On the 22nd, in order to connect with our own sense of empowerment, we must do two things: reject hurt (even and most especially those wounds we have been embracing for a long time!) and we must be willing to fit the individuality–our originality, our uniqueness–to the critical feedback we receive. The temptation is to rebel against any critique, whether we judge it good or bad, to strike out on our own–but almost certainly, our choices and actions at this point will be based too much on our own delusions, fantasies, and ideals–and so are likely to be less successful than they could be if we were hooked into the world as it is. Helpful hints: reality was illuminated clearly yesterday, the 21st–if you can recall what you perceived then and apply it to now, you can make the most of what comes your way. Unfortunately, it’s a time when our minds and our instincts are somewhat off, not to be trusted–and even the material reality conceals things we’d be better off addressing. Right now, it’s not a matter of willingness so much as of clarity–until the dust clears, we are better off proceeding with care, and recalling yesterday when we saw how precisely gifted we are, and how and in what form we realized we must put it to use.

Luna enters Sagittarius at 1:41 PM Pacific time. You’ll be emotionally tuned-in to this area of the natal chart–the matters of this House are the one place today your impulses and perceptions are likely to be correct.

The 23rd everything may go according to our own relationship with the social sphere and/ or with our own recent expansion efforts. If we are cool with not trying to control others or anything not in our purview, we can enjoy true harmony between thought and instinct, values and wisdom, allowing us to make choices that are ultra-appropriate to who we are and what we need. It’s all about the spirit with which we meet things, and the willingness to attend to duties, to serve–and so reap the benefits.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Have you noticed today’s trend toward empowering thought arrived at via examination of past opportunity and expansion options? We see exactly how to achieve our goals, if we’re willing to both accept external help and resources, and widen our ideas of how we can get where we want to go, based on past successful efforts.

The 18th both events and instincts may foster the urge to retreat–we want to go back in time, not into the future–but we can gain some control by looking to our own ‘blind spots’ for one or more issues that may be causing our hesitation.

On the 19th we’re feeling strong, so may be doubly surprised by what comes at us. Just know it won’t hurt a bit as long as we’re flexible and open to spontaneity.

20 August and we may not like what we hear–so much so that we may pretend we didn’t hear it! Not a good strategy, as currently on a Collective level, we’re determining the upcoming power and freedom balance for individuals. Dealing with realities is the only way to keep the group out of what should be a personal decision-making process.

Events or developments of the 21st may make us feel as if we’ve been ambushed; walls are up, borders and boundaries are impenetrable, restrictions are clear, and we may believe there are only two options: wreak havoc, or abandon our standards. There is a third option, however: access your most original and unique qualities or talents, and treat them as if they are worth a great deal–then watch as circumstances change around you.

Now that the Moon is waxing, and we’re through today’s (the 15th‘s) surprising and deeply truthful/ revealing communications, we can focus on what matters, on what we value–and on who and what we love. No matter what we saw or learned or discovered today, it ended in Love–and if it didn’t, all I can say is you’re doing it wrong. No really–you may be stuck on the way what you found out is conflicting with your highest aims. It’s time to get unstuck, and embrace the fallible but human element, rather than the rigid rules in your own head–after all, they won’t keep you warm at night.

For Sunday, the 16th, we have an interesting kind of trick we must perform: in order to keep from hurting ourselves or others with our actions, and to keep our thoughts focused on the Love we’ve been experiencing, we need to seat consciousness in a kind of anti-ambition, anti-desire stance. It’s a state that doesn’t ask anything from others or the world–go-getters, don’t fret, it’s just for a little while–and it’s most effective at opening our minds and horizons to those things we may not notice when our attention is on desire or goal fulfillment. It’s a receptivity, an energy of attraction and surrender, just made to be helped along by Venus retrograde, and the result will be much more, and much more rewarding, than just avoiding harm or missteps.

Update on Vesta: It’s almost here! If by ‘almost’ you mean (as I do) that it should be out by or at least near the end of the month. Thanks for being so patient!

ReThinking OurSelves: New Moon in Leo 2015

'The Reflection' Edward Simmons, before 1931 {{PD}}

‘The Reflection’ Edward Simmons, before 1931 {{PD}}

The New Moon occurs at 7:52 AM Pacific time on the 14th of August. This New Moon falls in Leo, a sign that, for better or worse, asks us to consider starting a new relationship with ourselves–or, to sort through the many Selves we carry, and choose to support those that further the personal agenda. The conjunction to retro Venus begs us to look at our own part in relationships and/ or financial matters, and at how our ego and identity-oriented wants (Leo) have shaped our values and investments, as well as the way they’ve shaped what and who surround us.

The conjunction to Venus is telling in another way, as well: it demands a new, integrated relationship with the Self. It costs us (Venus retro) to have different identities, different forms of behavior, keyed to different situations; a positive, holistic ‘I Am’ removes a kind of internal dependence on an ‘Other’ (Venus as relationship), where we determine who we are by bouncing off this ‘not I’, whether that is a difference created within our own minds or within actual relationships.

The New Moon is also quincunx Chiron in Pisces and trine Uranus in Aries. We are called upon to modify or adjust our idea of what hurts us (as this is a major factor in the shaping of those varied identities), and to take out for a jaunt new, unique, original, or inventive versions of the ‘I Am’ (Uranus, Aries). We won’t necessarily choose to retain all these–they should be viewed as experiments–but by the Full Moon that follows we should have a clear idea of what to integrate, and we will likely see that this integration offers some degree of healing (Chiron) to what is probably a rather nebulous, Cosmic pain (Pisces).

Also of note: the NM is in close novile to the current North Node; this may suggest a kind of brilliant resolution to an identity issue or problem is at hand with New Moon events. What’s born here will be Path-influencing, simply because we are somehow deciding who we are.

The Sabian for the New Moon is, ‘A Carrier Pigeon Fulfilling Its Mission’. I think that’s fairly clear: we ‘get the message’ about some important facet of who we are, and in the process, likely define what we want. That’s not a bad promise for a New Moon, is it?

Yes yes yes yes, Jupiter enters Virgo today, but what we’re really dealing with is Ceres, which trines Black Moon Lilith and is sextiled by Saturn. Nature and/ or authorities intrude on the reality picture, and we must deal with what we’d rather ignore. That’s certainly true for me. Late yesterday I had an emergency visit with an ophthalmologist about a potential retinal tear; luckily everything is fine, and I just have to keep an eye on it (how ironic!) for the next three weeks. By tomorrow, the 12th, we see those things we can’t control traded out for whatever it is that’s destroying our chances at empowerment, curtailing our ambitions, probably lying to us, spoiling rewards and, I know this is dramatic, destroying what we find sacred. That’ll certainly take my mind off my eyeball! Over these two days, the good news is that if we’ve learned from our past choices and actions, we can handle it, potentially sorting truth from fiction and re-claiming our power. The 13th may be challenging–we’re still not getting everything we want–but if we’re willing to modify both the way we deal with the material side of things and be reasonably flexible in our standards, we can attract some unique, original, and spontaneously generated opportunities, some of which may offer the chance to heal a wound or two, and some of which we may be surprised to find have been sitting right in front of us all along. Have a great couple of days! Our tendency may be to take things too seriously, and to see developments as more monumental than they actually are–try to focus on the lighter side, on small pleasures, and you’ll enjoy the next few days a lot more.

Some of us are deadly serious, feeling we need to get down to the nitty-gritty, while others are thinking about and responding from their egos–and the two will definitely not get along. Same story for those who want to spread Love and sunshine and those who feel there’s something negative right around the corner that they just can’t anticipate–all they can do is fret and walk around with a personal raincloud over their heads.  Everyone picks a mood and goes with it, to (mostly) less than harmonious results. Communication is bizarre, or bizarrely misunderstood, and our own thoughts may lead us to radical conclusions, or off the deep end. Surprising revelations may be on the agenda, and what we don’t know can cost us. This really isn’t as much of a problem as it seems; it’s a day to work and do what we do and just be alone, abandoning the inclination toward typical Monday morning frenzied pursuit of goals in favor of meeting the day in a more receptive, contemplative way, one that allows plenty of quiet, and centers on Self-reliance.

Mars has just entered Leo, where his war cry is likely to be, “Do it for me!” or maybe, “Do it for glory!” The Warrior will be making no aspects, other than a trine to the South Node, which practically begs us to go back to old, ‘easy’ ways, just to get something (exciting) going. With the Moon moving into Cancer just before 6 AM Pacific time, if we care unthinkingly, we may get swept up in movements and causes that aren’t ours. Just remember not to let emotion drive the wagon, and ask yourself, ‘What do I need?’ in order to re-center on what’s important to you. (Perfecting today: Mars contra-parallel Pluto, Venus square Sedna, Mercury sesquiquadrate Uranus)

Get my books here! And have a great Monday!
