Life with the stoic goat can be lonely at times Ochard pre-1870 {{PD-Art}}

No matter what you do or don’t celebrate, it’s the holiday season–there’s no way to avoid it. In the newsletter I shared a few tongue-in-cheek suggestions for how to survive this annual time of family, food, fights, fun, fruitcake, and all those other ‘f’ words, and I’ll be sharing a little advice for each sign, one at a time. Your Nemesis, listed at the end of the sign, suggests who might be out to sabotage or just give you a hard time, while your angel is the sign energy you can call on in others for assistance, and your personal elf or cherub is the sign energy that will cheer you up and work behind the scenes to make your holiday special. Watch for the rest of the signs during the coming week.

Capricorn  You are tired of people telling you that you take things too seriously; the ‘temporary’ nature of the holidays makes it even worse. You have a hard time getting into decorating, wrapping presents, and anything fun, simply because you’re hyper-aware of how you’ll just have to spend time cleaning up and then what will you have? A new blender (a second one, which you didn’t ask for, and which you must now clean and find a use for) and an over-flowing trash barrel. Are you a Scrooge? Yes, yes you are, a holiday one; though you’re very generous with those you love, and in the name of a good cause, when it comes to seeing the reason for holiday cheer, you’re clueless. You can suck the happy right out of the room with the way you keep careful track of every receipt and penny spent, object to making more than one kind of cookie, and want to hand people their gifts as soon as you buy them, in the bag they came in (minus the receipt!)To call you a ‘No Frills’ kind of person would be a gross understatement, and the label itself encapsulates exactly what’s wrong with you over the holidays. To your credit, you know others see the season differently than you do–but really, do they have to point it our every time you turn around? You may be telling yourself you’d be more inclined to celebrate if people weren’t always trying to force you to, but we both know that’d be a lie 😦 How to make your holiday happier? No use telling you to loosen up; people have been telling you that since you were two. Instead, I want you to schedule some fun. If there’s anything Capricorn understands it’s time allotments; and don’t just schedule fun, schedule some time to sleep, organize, and fuss with those receipts, and be strict with yourself (oh, Cappy like!)Don’t allow periods to overlap, and when you’ve scheduled twelve minutes for caroling, damnit, show up and throw yourself into it, tambourine and all! One thing Capricorn is crystal clear on is dedicating her- or himself to the task at hand. This approach will make you more popular, and you never know, you may discover that you like planning holiday cheer. Your Nemesis this holiday season: Sagittarius, Aquarius, or Cancer/ Your secret angel: Virgo/ Your personal elf or cherub: Taurus

6 April 2010: A Dose of Emotional Wisdom

The Moon moves through the latter half of Capricorn today and more subtle energies come forward–and that means influences may surface in behavior before we even know they’re there. Right now the Moon’s sextile to Jupiter makes the future seem expansive; we can’t, for the moment, imagine any obstacles that could slow us down, but by around noon Pacific time they start to appear: a quincunx to Vesta and trine to Sedna that brings a need to adjust our actions (or at least our emotional reactions) to our values–the problem is we either won’t know how to do this or won’t see the need to in the first place. This combo makes for distressed feelings around core priorities or a sense of ‘flying blind’ that can be disorienting or may give a feeling of invulnerability–the old ‘if I don’t know about difficulties they can’t hurt me’ routine.

The trick is to pay attention to what we perceive around 10 AM PDT. This is when the Moon sextiles Pallas and gives us a dose of emotional wisdom. Whatever we’re seeing as smart at this point should be followed through on, with subsequent urges for change best left until the judgment clears once again. By 3:30 PM the Moon is trine Juno and we’re back in wisdom territory, at least in terms of being able to discern what will empower us; if we’re considering making a move in the relationship arena, though, think twice, as Juno can get all judgy and vindictive when it’s not in her own best interests. Look for avenues of personal empowerment expression that don’t involve the mate or those of whom you might be a touch envious or jealous, and put your energy there.

Pluto retrogrades this evening Pacific time; effects won’t be immediate, more like the brakes being applied to a train–you can travel a long way in the same direction before you come to a halt. Wherever it’s sitting right now in your chart, it may feel a little like a wee bit of heart attack pressure, as Pluto stations and, it seems, presses down–but this will be something you’ve lived with for a while now, there just may be more of an awareness of it, along with a more active desire to get out from under it, as Pluto goes retrograde.

By 11 PM PDT the Moon helps Uranus sandwich Neptune, with the sextile between the Cappy Moon and Uranus delivering a surprise or jolt straight out of dreams, delusions, or fantasies (I’d love for you to share how this might manifest for you, if you’re so inclined). The Moon’s Void begins at 1:20 AM PDT; Moon enters Aquarius on the 7th at 5:50 AM PDT. The Moon immediately trines Saturn; less than an hour after the Moon’s entry into Aquarius Saturn will retreat to 00 Libra 00, and we will all feel it. How, you ask? It may come in a ‘frontier’ feeling, a newness or rawness that imparts a temporary feeling that there are no rules, particularly in how we relate to each other (Libra). I’ll be watching this closely, as I sense there’ll be some Saturnian surprises in this, perhaps with boundaries lifted or structures or organizations we’ve counted on in the past for the moment unreliable. Again, would love to hear how this shows for you.

By the time the Moon opposes Mars in Leo (about 2 PM PDT) we may be just about ready to burst. The desire to do something about recent perceptions will be mighty–just make sure you’re keeping what came forward from that dose of wisdom in mind.

9 March 2010: They Come Out of the Woodwork

Capricorn, My Daily Astrology Diary, Vesta opposed Neptune

So is it just me, or has the past week been populated with a wide variety of, we’ll politely say, ‘characters,’ aggressively putting forward their own agendas and living in their own bubbles? The sane have gone quiet; though still communicating they’re just not out there, pounding the pavement, the way our more lively friends are. It seems to be a matter of attention seeking crossed with a desire to persuade others to do what they want. Maybe the hallmark is their sureness: they are sure you want what they’re selling, sure you’ll want to drop everything to do their bidding, sure that what they’re calling for, believing, or spreading around is ‘the Truth’–and yet another hallmark of this breed is that, though they’re asking for something, they aren’t waiting to find out if they’ll get it–instead they draw their own conclusions, and begin to spread those suppositions. And this group seems to have self-explanatory subsets elaborating on their incentive to contact: the provocateurs and the ‘poor lil’ ol’ mes.’

So am I the only one faced with this variety of encounters, or are you experiencing it, too? And, since I believe nothing is random (or truly without meaning) I must ask why this is part of my experience at this time. When we have experiences like this, it’s typically one of two things: either we’re acting out, expressing our single-minded, Self-absorbed crazy somewhere,and we need to recognize it, or we’re to learn how to handle this energy in others. This time, I think I’m safe in saying that for me, it’s about handling the energy in others–and what a ride it’s been.

It's seems there're angels coming out of the woodwork here

Where do we spot this trend astrologically? Maybe in the past week’s opposition of Vesta to Neptune, challenging us to choose: are we rooted in our most sacred values, or in our more transitory ideals, fantasies, or delusions? For part of the time, Neptune was planet of latest degree, suggesting it had a strong influence on the general atmosphere. Supplanted by Venus for a few days, we may have seen a surge of Venusian influences, expressions of real love, generosity, jealousy, covetousness, envy, and beauty–and now Chiron has passed Neptune and is the energy of the endgame, calling on all our skills, if we’re the responder, and stimulating all our wounds, if we’re the one acting out.

I think the Moon in Capricorn is the prevailing influence today, aspects it makes not being anything that feels (to me) terribly important, one way or the other. This suggests, especially when applied to the above described dilemmas, that maintaining firm boundaries, obeying established ‘rules,’ and being respectful are the best coping mechanisms and should be priorities.

Remember when I told about walking along the street and the pay phone rang, my own personal Matrix moment? Well it happened again yesterday, and I only have one question: who’s calling? (See the original here https://juliedemboski.wordpress.com/2009/09/03/alices-matrix-logos-the-upcoming-merc-retro-and-in-consultation/)

And have a great one! Need more on March influences? 8 March 2010: The Chance for Change

10 AM and the Moon freshly minted in Capricorn quincunxes Mars retro at 00; we find ourselves assessing the material realities and looking for the best move to improve them, but with the action principle still reluctant to express we may do more mulling and planning than anything else–and that’s not so bad, as Cap makes us able to focus on reality to a strong degree, useful when we hope to make situations more suitable to our needs.

Thanks to http://karenswhimsy.com {{PD}}

11 AM PST and any suppression of the Venus functions we’ve been experiencing (and this can be anything from love or relationship issues, to financial or asset ones, to health matters involving lack of function, calcification, or blockages of the kidneys or blood sugar difficulties) is freed up (in a sense) by the Moon’s square to the opposition of Venus to Saturn. Emotions may react to the difficulties, and the results can run the spectrum from ineffective tantrum all the way to emotional revelation that brings us the reason for the upset; there is also the possibility of intuitive response without emotional trauma that offers either a material answer to what we’re experiencing or a purely intuitive understanding of the whys and wherefores of the situation. In any case, a chance for, at the least, release, and at the most, significant enlightenment.

6:30 PM PST brings the Moon into contact with Pluto, and plummets the emotions to the depths; this can be a massive downer, where suddenly our life circumstances seem heavy, as if they’re disintegrating, or oppressive to the point of death–but let’s not be dramatic (though certainly the Moon/ Pluto combo inclines us to be). This can also be the spur to real change to the life, and a real overhaul of the emotions, paving the way to clearing out emotional dross. This conjunction could also bring emotional light, reflecting and illuminating our darker side, or the secrets or machinations of others–and this is good, allowing us to contact reality and informing us in a way that is similar to arming us–once we know what we face, we can handle it.

There’s another Plutonian possibility here, one where this contact may allow us to change or reform the emotional outlook to our benefit, and empowerment can be ours if we’re willing to deal with Pluto first (Moon trine Juno in Taurus, 11 PM PST). By 7 AM PST on the 9th, the Moon sextiles Jupiter, and all that we learned and experienced on the 8th can be used/ presented, either to the social sphere or broadcast or taught in our particular arena.

Another Installment of ‘What You’re Asking’

There were so many great topics this week, I’m going to be doing this in two parts, and keeping answers brief (at least for me!) First up:

Is it okay to travel when Mercury is retrograde?

Excellent question, the kind of thing we think about when we try to apply astrology to real life, and find that sometimes it gets in the way! Why would travel be prohibited? Chiefly because Mercury rules movement, transportation, and in retrograde hitches are common, so we have a smaller chance of things running smoothly at this time, in a mechanical sense, and the electrical systems of vehicles can be more testy than usual, as well. But I think the real difficulty lies in the planning and communication aspect of things; inevitably, we think we’ve planned carefully for our moving day, only to find our route is blocked by a three-hour parade, or we agree to be at that place by the thing where we went that time, for lunch, and we think that means 12, and our meetee thinks lunch starts at 1. Where mechanical hold-ups can be addressed, and even anticipated, with a little care, it’s the thought processes behind our travel that may suffer, and upon which we can have least conscious effect.

Because of this, I wouldn’t recommend travel, particularly the kind where we’re at the mercy of a form of transport where we are not in charge (such as an airline or train) or where we’re at the whim of someone who may speed along well ahead of schedule and miss us (like a bus). Of course, there’s no reason to stop living life, just be prepared to deal with glitches and difficulties as they arise; typically the biggest problem is delay, and in this case, a little flexibility in expectations goes a long way. Best methodology for coping during travel on Mercury retrograde: use your intuition (Venus) in the moment; where the mind is muddled on the retrograde, the intuition is right on, and can, if accessed, make the trip an easy, and sense-filled, delight.

For more on activity during Mercury retrograde, see this https://juliedemboski.wordpress.com/re-examining-mercury-retrograde/

What is the combust degree for each planet?

Since we measure combustion from only one source, the Sun, all planets and bodies are considered combust within the same frame: 17 minutes from exactitude to 8.5 degrees, and other bodies cannot be combust each other–if we say “Mars is combust Venus,” well, we’re speaking gibberish! Closer than 17 minutes to the Sun is cazimi, a condition of fusion that is believed to greatly strengthen a planet. For more on the whys of all this, see https://juliedemboski.wordpress.com/mercury-combust-and-retrograde/

What are the likely health effects of Jupiter in Aquarius?

This question is highly individual, depending on how Jupiter and Aquarius are hooked into the health picture of the natal chart. We can venture a few guesses, though, mainly on what may be more susceptible at this time; for example, Jupiter rules the liver, and Aquarius is a fixed Air sign–under the ‘right’ circumstances in an individual’s chart, this could signal a hepatic embolism, or CNS damage (Aquarius) that comes from or causes liver damage; we might even see the pain of the intellectual situation spurring some toward drink; or when we look for society-wide effects, with Aquarius ruling the higher functions, and Jupiter symbolizing expansion and the social order, advances in autism studies and therapies are possible, or perhaps we’ll see a resurgence of interest in ‘remote viewing’ experimentation, or in good old mental health programs, and we may see fads in the direction of outdoor recreation, perhaps involving Jupiter’s big animals, such as equestrian events, or for international events, such as chess–or, Mathlympics, anyone?

How do I seduce a Venus in Capricorn?

Hey, is this the same person who asks about Capricorn every week? Haven’t you given up on Cappy yet? Or are Capricorns the latest irresistible sign, with their frowns and rules and big bulging wallets. Well, no matter, let’s see what we can do here. Venus tells us what appeals to someone; it explains their tastes in a sensual way, what’s pleasing, what’s appealing. We take a chance when we look only at Venus’ sign, though, as contacts can tell a much more effective story: Venus in Scorpio says they want a little mystery, but if that Venus is connected to Pluto, we might see a preference for dangerous sex (sex with strangers, sex on cliffs, sex in public), a taste for S/ M, or just someone who associates (sadly) pain, punishment, or destruction with love (and not even with sex, at that). So, Venus in Capricorn suggests the appeal of security, of rules and ‘safe’ words (in bed, or at a party, like when you say in the presence of your partner, “I love cupcakes!” when you desperately want to leave) and Cap finds the beauty in order and constraint–you can flirt with Venus in Capricorn by simply lifting an eyebrow, crisply serving a summons, or folding his or her laundry, really really neatly.

Seduction, however, is another matter; since seduction is about persuading, in essence gaining control of another, or at least drawing them to do your bidding, it is the antithesis of what Venus in Capricorn is about: he or she is in control of the sensual, of love and sex, thank you very much, and the goaty Venus will resist (and resent) mightily any attempt to connect that smacks of you having more control than they. So, the seduction scenario of Venus in Cap isn’t promising, because if they even get an inkling that they’re being seduced, they will bound up the rocky ledge of indifference and cold shoulder you until you go away. So, I’m sending all who are interested over to the experts at Sasstrology http://sasstrology.com/2008/09/astrology-of-kink-complex-capricorn.html  Or, for relationship analysis that gets into the whys and wherefores of attraction http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com  Happy goat herding!

More to come!
