Olaus Magnus 1555 'On the Activities of People at Moonlight' {{PD-Art}}

The women were like beings made of moon milk, and their skin shimmered with little silver dots like those of the salmon in springtime, and the women’s feet and hands were long and graceful.

Clarissa Pinkola Estes Phd,  WOMEN WHO RUN WITH THE WOLVES

The Full Moon for September occurs at 2:17 AM PDT on the 23rd at 00 Aries 15–the Aries Point! In the most straightforward terms, the Aries Point is the slice of space/ time where spirit enters matter, the collision point of  all that is real and unseen with discernible material form. So, a big deal, as for the individual, this point in the flat chart of the natal horoscope designates the point at which the individual meshed the spirit and the physical as we know it; it’s the place where the Soul entered active engagement with the present lifetime. What does this mean for us when the transiting Full Moon coincides with what we might see as a doorway between spirit and material?

The occurrence of the Full Moon at the Aries Point may open a doorway to our origins, to the most fundamental expression of who we are, at that moment when we both took material form (birth) and still retained full consciousness of the Soul essence. The Sabian symbol for 0-1 Aries is: ‘A Woman Just Risen From the Sea; a Seal is Embracing Her’ This image brings to mind the Archetypal story of the Seal Woman who mates with a human male, has a child, and slowly loses her health–all because as she celebrated herself, a hunter saw, and took the sealskin she wore as her ‘true’ identity. The story is given form in ‘Sealskin, Soulskin,’ in Estes’ marvelous ‘Women Who Run With the Wolves.’ She divides the story (which is told in many cultures in many forms) into parts that I know  I can’t improve on, so we’ll look at each part and how it might relate to the Full Moon experience.

Since this is a Full Moon, we know we’re speaking of culmination, the rounding out of some part of our own story. First, there is a kind of initiation that comes through a loss, in one form or another, of the Soul. I think this can be equated to birth, represented by the Aries Point as the doorway; we can’t help but become disoriented, losing a bit of ourselves in the process. Then one ‘loses one’s pelt’ in earnest–we are trying to enjoy our new human form, but in celebrating this we set aside the Soul connectors we still retain, in order to fit in to the earthly realm. We substitute the values of the culture and our tribe, and though these are not completely alien, they do represent the values of consensus, and that means we lose our awareness of those things that make us unique; this loss is represented by ‘poor’ choice (and by that I mean the kind of choices we inevitably make in an attempt to regain that part of ourselves we sense we’ve forgotten) and the way we are lured by the things we think will provide our lack. So we are, like the Seal Woman, left naked and shivering as we search for our eternal Beingness.

Next there is communion with the hunter, the individual who has ‘taken’ our skin–of course, we don’t know that we are facing the thief. This is represented by any animus oriented energy to which we succumb: our own interior animus, our ego, or an external animus: a man, ambition, society’s definition of ‘making it.’ Note that though this story is told as a woman’s loss, this tragedy happens to men, as well; they lose their unique ‘Soul skin’ in an attempt to be the kind of man society (and perhaps the partner) demands, rather than the kind of man they are naturally. The ego and its particular form of vanity promises to fulfill us, to return to us that missing Soul piece, if we will only do its bidding–but this is just not true–it cannot return what it does not possess.

The woman, the entire time she has spent on dry land, has been hearing the call of the sea (her true environment) and has been conscious of her vibrational connection with her child, her spiritual ‘home,’ in a sense. This spirit child in the story is the child of the Seal Woman and the hunter who captured her by stealing her skin. This is representative of the pure, inner connection we retain to the Soul (it can be ‘the inner child,’ though I think it’s something much purer, the experience of the Soul rather than just the seed-manifestation of it), and it’s this element in the story that, agitated by its mother’s distress, stumbles out into the night and trips on the mother’s wrapped up Seal skin, finding and delivering back to the woman her true identity.

So, in all this we are seeing an Archetypal journey in miniature; the Full Moon presents us with the ability to re-acquaint ourselves with that moment when as Soul we slipped into flesh–and this is a vital point, as it is the one time in the incarnation experience (other than the moment of death) in which we can be fully aware of the enormity of who we are, and can re-connect so directly with it.

Using our strict orb, we see that the Sun/ Moon/ Earth makes only one aspect, a T-square with Pluto in Capricorn. Ah ha! Besides being able to glimpse in its purest form the Soul and its intentions on incarnating (in the Sabian, this is the seal embracing the woman, a return to the natural sensibilities), this Full Moon also offers the power (Pluto) to transform (Pluto) our own manifestation in the material (Capricorn). Since the inner is the outer, and the outer the inner, this means we can change anything on any level, with corresponding changes visible (or felt or realized) in the opposite venue.

In ECLIPSE I called this Full Moon “the true birth point of fated Cardinal action,” and outline the other influences in effect at the moment of Full Moon fulfillment that will act on our transformational choices. If you’re planning on getting this issue and you just haven’t yet, now’s the time http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/  The life long journey to empowerment is closely related to  the mini-empowerment we will be instituting with this Full Moon; see more on that here http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com  in my new book on Juno. Thank you!

And have a wonderful Full Moon transformational experience!

Dark of the Moon, ECLIPSE magazine, Juno, Moon in Aquarius, Moon in Pisces, My Daily Astrology Diary

So just after I complained about short Voids not allowing us a little recuperation time, along comes this Void and gives us a stretch free of Lunar feedback (and this may invite a few brains to run hot–it’s in Aquarius–a few tempers to over heat and a wee touch of rebellion to foment–that lasts through 1:15 PM Pacific time; that’s when the Moon enters softly persuasive Pisces–persuasive as we may just want to lie back and dream, with the first aspect not forming until 5:30 PM PDT. At that point the Moon sextiles Pluto, and we may be able to purge emotionally; there’s a possibility that during the after-Pisces-entry hours we could be a bit too receptive to the Collective schmutz and may find ourselves angst-y over things we grab out of the air, rather than anything in our own lives. This all takes place during Dark of the Moon (which began 2 AM-ish Pacific today), so that there’s an even further remove, a feeling of disconnection blanketing it all that serves to make everything a lot more nebulous, and everyone a lot more spacey, in their own way (that just takes away barriers to the personality, amplifying each of us–you get MORE of what you are!)

By 9 PM PDT the Moon trines Mars, both in Water; we can expect a feeling that’s like swimming: we’re making effort but it’s not the usual, we’re soothed yet anxiety can come on in an instant, we’re bouyed yet enveloped. Emotionally we’re working up to the conjunction of the Moon with Jupiter/ Uranus late evening Pacific of the 22nd and early morning of the 23rd which precedes the Cardinal Point Full Moon. Stress levels may be high and difficult to get a handle on, starting with this trine to Mars and building toward the Full Moon.

1 AM PDT of the 21st the Moon quincunxes Saturn–use this grounding moment (which will come through some small dissonance in consciousness)  to orient yourself and take a read on the situation. At this time we need all the grounding influences we can get.

5 AM of the 21st the Moon makes a Water Grand Trine with Venus and the South Node, and we get steeped in nostalgia (literally, the pain of the past) and awash with all our deepest longings and yearnings emotionally and for connection. The Soul is gently turned inside-out with emotion. Understand that, though likely involving some degree of pain, regret, and heartache, this is a very good thing to experience, because it lets us know what we believe would make us complete-and that’s typically not at all what we truly need or want for satisfaction in our lives. It’s a period of sentimentality that can have a purpose that’s quite useful at giving some perspective to things.

The Moon steadily moves toward opposition with Mercury, perfecting in the 11 AM hour PDT. We may feel this building, as the Dark period otherwise tones down most other, immediate influences, making some really pop. This could be a point of revelation, or a mini comedy of errors, as communication can be confusing, even messy, and of course, there’s the potential for confrontation.

Relaxing and envisioning might be my recommendations for this period–along with buying the NEW ‘Juno in the Natal Chart’ http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com or getting the Summer issue of ECLIPSE, which carries a large entry on this upcoming Full Moon, the Venus retro and how to handle it, articles, and the October forecast http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/

And! New at ‘Been There, Done That’ just posted ‘Your Relationship Power Balance’ http://askjulie.wordpress.com/2010/09/20/your-relationship-power-balance/

And have a great one!

27-29 August 2010: Taming the Aggressive, Enjoying the Material

Moon in Aries, Moon in Taurus, My Weekend Astro Diary

What we face while we still have an Aries Moon is a series of, well, face-offs, as if the emotional state is repeatedly challenged to prove itself. This may be because an Aries Moon urges us to assert our emotions as if they’re fact–and of course, this may not sit well with others!  There’s always that tendency of the Ram to push, prod, and force the Will on others; we really can’t blame others or ourselves for being so assertive under this influence, as everything seems so urgent–but we do need to be aware of the way this influence can creep into everything.

Noonish PDT today, the 27th, the feisty Aries Moon opposes Vesta, and something in our emotional landscape is directly contradictory to our most sacred values, and/ or the home situation or the sex life. Uh-oh. This is the kind of conflict that can upset us severely and leave a seriously bad taste in our emotional mouths (please don’t ask me to locate those on a diagram!) The results of this may linger for quite a while and may even alter our perspective for good. By 4:30 PM PDT the Moon forms a T-square with the Nodal axis, creating (or perhaps solidifying) a need to sort out the attitude and the way it may affect the life direction.

8:30 PM or so PDT the Moon opposes Zeus and trines Juno, drawing us into the possibility of a very interesting power struggle: we are confronted by naked ambition or desires, and we access our core goddess empowerment (or we access power via status or our partnerships) and use that, rather than our puny egos or emotions, to answer this challenge.

By 4:30 AM PDT on Saturday the 28th the Moon quincunxes retrograde Mercury, and we may be wondering why we (or another) had to open that (emotional!) mouth and let it all out. Just a reminder, don’t confuse the subjective and the objective by obscuring fact with emotion.

8 AM PDT and the Moon opposes Mars–is there a way to avoid discord with others today? I don’t know, but what is sure is that relationships will undergo a trial where egos, Wills, and emotions are under scrutiny (even attack) and on edge. We think we’re asserting our rights and we’re really trampling on others; we think we’re assisting and we’re really crushing; we think the other guy is punching us, and it’s just our own aggression bounced back at us. Just take care to be scrupulously honest in assessing your own Aries expressions.

The period to watch occurs a few hours either side of 2 PM Pacific, when the Aries Moon trines Ceres and opposes Venus. Here we find our ‘power footing’ even as we find our values and relationships under stress. Mother Nature, instincts, and knowing our power territories (and what areas are not in our province) all help us see and assess the standards we will meet at this time. This is one of those times when we create a mini-clean slate based on recent revelations and experiences.

We finish off the Aries Moon in the wee hours of Sunday, Pacific time, on the 29th. The Moon sextiles Neptune (confusion, both of emotions and of where aggression is actually coming from), and then sextiles Chiron (3 AM-ish); our reaction to this latter aspect shows quite clearly how we are truly reacting to recent events (rather than simply supporting what we tell ourselves is our reaction). We either cast ourselves as victims or empowered (though injured, and therefore empathetic) agents of healing–it’s that straightforward.

Void begins at 3:53 AM PDT and ends with the Moon’s entry into Taurus at 7:35 AM PDT on the 29th. Oooh Taurus! When the Moon is here the emotional and intuitive outlooks key to the sensual, and material, the appetites and sensations involved with those purely earthly experiences of occupying a human body. This is the time for a micro-vacation, a session of physical pampering, savoring an excellent meal, drinking in the beauty of the world around us. Focus in particular on enjoyment of the end of summer (or the end of winter) and what the very early beginnings of the seasonal change offers (see more about this weekend in the Summer issue of ECLIPSE, and the extra material about this weekend on the readers-only page here at the site.  Password required and found at the end of the first article in ECLIPSE), plus learn about the important influences surrounding early September, forecasts for September and October (and post-cast for August!) and articles on the 6th House, the creative complex, Pluto, and much more! GET IT ALL HERE  http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/) and get access to the FULL picture, for only $4.95!

The main Lunar influences for the 29th are a trine to Pluto around 11 AM PDT (a chance to purge the emotional state–a housecleaning that will feel uncommonly good), and a 7:30 PM-ish trine to the Sun that simultaneously brings the weekend to a close and starts the week, refreshed and renewed by our attention to the material pleasures involved with being a spiritual Being having a human experience.

26 August 2010: Gliding on a Pisces Moon

Moon in Aries, Moon in Pisces, My Daily Astrology Diary

It may be a day for dreaming, creative work, and a loose schedule that allows for detours into fantasy, making Art, and imagining ‘what ifs.’ This will be the general atmosphere for a Pisces Moon that glides along without contact, but that also means that for those whose natal charts are not affected, it could be a day whiled away or lost to a big Collective experience–so keeping plans flexible is important for making the most of the energies. For those whose natal placements are contacted, the Pisces Moon could bring creative and intuitive possibilities to the natal energy–and these are likely to feel a little pressured, as if something creative must be done now! Try to see that this is simply an opportunity for heightened imaginative capabilities, rather than a mandate to birth something stunningly creative at the drop of a hat.

It takes all day for the Moon to move on to its final contact in Pisces, a conjunction to Uranus at 29 degrees, forming in the 5 PM hour PDT. Shocks and abrupt revelations/ surprises, possibly supplied by the Collective or our own active imaginations, will surface. Void begins at 7 PM sharp, and ends with the Moon’s entry into Aries at 7:49 PM PDT–if you want to roll the dice on any venture, this is the 49 minute period that promises only that the results won’t be what you expect.

The Aries Moon comes crashing into Jupiter (figuratively, of course), making the Will and the need to assert BIG; the energy may look for an outlet on the social scene, but with everyone under this influence it may be like a lot of hams vieing for stage time in the high school play–all those monologues drown one another out. Just after midnight PDT the Moon squares Pluto, bringing forward very real and very serious dissonance, and a little bit of destruction or danger–obviously, you’ll want to avoid this 🙂

By 2 AM PDT on the 27th the Moon quincunxes the Sun, giving us a window wherein we can rein in the emotions and attend to the details–it’s a point when we can, as they say in the military, square everything away–and that will allow us to use the Aries Moon to best advantage for the rest of the transit.

August 24th 2010 Full Moon: Down the Rabbit Hole

22 Sunday Aug 2010

Full Moon

It won’t be down the rabbit hole for everyone, just those who are determined to push forward with their agenda and who also refuse (or are unable) to recognize that they are being driven by hurt, or possibly revenge, all thanks to the Moon/ Earth conjunction at 1 Pisces 25 at 10:04 AM PDT, conjunct Chiron (just short of a three degree orb). Sounds terribly dramatic, doesn’t it? The rabbit hole, of course, signifying a confusing and frustrating neverland where nothing is as it seems. But this Moon will contain this kind of drama for some , while for most it will simply be a difficult energy to sum up in any crisp way; we just may not consciously get a good hold on the endings presented, and that’s okay–though it may feel like something needs to be accomplished, relax–there’s really no need to come to conclusions at this time, in spite of the Full Moon being a natural conclusion point. We must be cool enough to let the energies ride, especially as it appears there will be plenty of forces at work that are outside our control.

There will be some interesting energies swirling around us. The Moon/ Earth combo makes a wide quincunx to Saturn (the need to adjust goals and emotional perceptions to reality); a semi-sextile to Jupiter (the social arena figures in to the emotional perceptions/ material realizations at this time); a sextile to Pluto (there is power here, in this moment–tread carefully).

The Moon/ Earth also acts as an impromptu apex for a Fist formed by the Venus/ Mars conjunction and the Midheaven at the moment of Full Moon realization. This suggests that something related to both the anima/ animus balance within the individual as well as the individual’s relationship to the opposite sex will be tested at this time, and all of this may happen publicly and/ or will affect individual reputation and status. Again, this points up that some of what happens is truly beyond our control–important to keep in mind, as a Full Moon may make us feel that we should be in control of everything, and may drive us to attempt to mess with forces better left alone.

The Sabian certainly suggests caution: ‘A Squirrel Hiding From Hunters’ Perhaps surprisingly, this sums up the energies that will surround the Full Moon very well. Each of us will need to be quick, clever, watchful, and most of all, cautious–external forces (read ‘Pluto’ ‘Saturn’ and ‘Chiron’ here) will in some form be the hunters of the symbol–and hunters don’t care for the concerns of their prey, they’re only out to nail them! A low-key approach, then, with the discipline and control to let the chips fall where they may (and to stay out of active trouble ourselves) will suit the vast majority of us best.

I’ve decided to extend my moment of meditation from yesterday for a few days more; my persistent, debilitating cold is urging me to simply rest–so I think I will. Some responsible adult will continue to monitor mail and fulfill orders–but other than that I’m going to be bathing in silence–at least for a good portion of the time. Join me in spirit, if you like–I look forward to communing in stillness and in peace–and wishing you all fulfillment in the coming days–jd

17-18 August 2010: Lust Be a Lady

17 Tuesday Aug 2010

ECLIPSE magazine, Moon in Sagittarius, My Daily Astrology Diary, the Magazine

11 AM PDT of the 17th the lusty (yes, it does seem a lusty energy, rife with potential–so watch yourself around your Sag-influenced friends!) Sagittarius Moon trines Juno in her fiery Leo home, and we have a surge of empowerment energies that call out to be fulfilled. It’s an excellent mini-opportunity to launch something, even as we hang in the balance, waiting for Merc’s retrograde, so take advantage of the moment if you’re looking to go forward, and especially if you’re looking to make your lady-powers sparkle 🙂  BTW, the chart for this point shows the Part of Fortune opposed Juno, perhaps suggesting choices made now will be much more significant than they appear–they may even be fate-driven.

If we aren’t worn out from our day of lusting (and see more about the lusty, pirate-y spirit in all of us in the Summer issue of ECLIPSE http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/ ) the Moon will sextile Mars and quincunx the South Node around 7 PM PDT, and all I can say is, Beware! This stirs the ego, the action urge, the ‘I am’ through the memory or return of elements from the past, and for many this may be trying; after so much stimulation early in the day, we may feel the Mars contact as an impulse: just one more big push, and I get what I want. The past (and likely past failures) may push us to act in ways that ignore the partner, or that seek to insist on the partner’s support (Mars in Libra, only one degree from conjunction with Zeus, with Venus one degree from conjunction with Mars–so the god of war sits between love/ desire and lust/ ambition, and tries to serve them both). Good luck with that one!

Let’s move ahead to 9:30 PM-ish PDT, when the Moon sextiles Zeus and Pallas sits at the midpoint of the two. Stress! as the emotions and intuition are pushed to fulfill wants but find wisdom intrudes and seeks to modify our course–congratulations to those of us smart enough to listen.

The Moon conjuncts Ceres in Sagittarius around 12:30 PM of the 18th, bringing together the emotions and intuition with perceptions of the natural order, and with our own personal connection to the power of nature and ourselves as natural Beings; it’s a moment of true power, when the Universe responds to our Will and our touch.

By 3:30 PM PDT of the 18th the Moon quincunxes Sedna; we’re flying blind for a couple of hours, a sensory underload that may be highly confusing after the strong perceptual period that preceded it. Stay cool and, uncomfortable as it may be, on the fence, saving decisions for a few hours later.

9:30-ish PM PDT of the 18th sees the Sagittarius Moon trining the Leo Sun in what amounts to a fiery compromise. It’s a lovely, ultra-bright few hours of illumination of the emotions and intents and life direction–a good point at which to assess and re-group energy and efforts. This is followed by the 1:30 AM-ish PDT of the 19th sextile of the Moon to Neptune (imagination helps align emotions with efforts) and the 3:30-ish sextile to Chiron (that spirit of creativity can be used to call forth skills).

ECLIPSE readers: be sure you check the forecast for the period starting the 18th–it’s worth knowing about and planning ahead for! And if you want to get in on it http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/ Thanks! And have a wonderful couple of days!

The ‘Why’ of Things

16 Monday Aug 2010

astrology, ECLIPSE magazine, Juno, Phillip Markoff, Pluto, real life astrology, the Magazine

There seems to be a trend of late wherein what’s often being said (or expressed in some form) is dressed up with what we want it to mean, rather than with the words or expression having a decent relationship to the facts that are evident. This is likely due to Mercury’s relatively disconnected status at present, which leaves us searching for meaning, looking to attach something to our words and thoughts that give them depth–it’s probably why I’m writing this, even, putting my own spin on what comes to me.

The suicide of alleged ‘Craig’s List Killer’ Phillip Markoff brought forward lots of commentary on the news like this: ‘He couldn’t face his future, therefore he ended it all.’ When I heard this extrapolation, the kind of assumption rooted in a personal viewpoint (and rooted in the assumption that the rest of the world thinks as the commentator does), I had to take a look at this man’s chart, and see if that’s really the likely impetus behind his demise. And my conclusion was: absolutely not.

Markoff (12 February 1986 no time known Sherrill New York USA) had a strong ego, particularly intellectually; if anyone could rationalize Self-serving action, it was this Sun/ Jupiter/ Venus conjunct in Aquarius (and with Venus at 29 degrees, Self-worth would’ve been a front-and-center issue).

But my thought was that his suicide was actually a final expression of power: taking the power to direct his fate out of authorities’ hands, power to take some measure of justice/revenge from the families of the victims, and exacting some revenge of his own, by killing himself on the anniversary of the date he and his fiancée had planned to marry–could this last be any more angry, any more determined to exact a toll from a major figure in his life?

So I looked to Pluto, the main symbol of both rage and power in the chart. Pluto is trine Mercury (‘smooth talker,’ powerful words, and a likely ability to influence others), semi-square to Uranus (a constant, subtle irritation to be different, be unique, to express the individuality), sextile to Neptune (like most everyone for the past hundred years! enhances the ability to visualize power situations and outlets–but is highly dependent on House rulerships, which we don’t have here), a quincunx to Chiron (power expressions may be driven by hurt–more on this in a moment), a square to Vesta (power expressions are in conflict with what’s sacred in life–likely driving him under pressure to choose one or the other–to honor vital areas of life or to express personal power–a seductive quandary), a sesquiquadrate to Pallas (more irritation–he knew his power expressions weren’t wise), a conjunction to the South Node (roots in the past) and to the Vertex (fated expression of the energies–coupled with the South Node, we may be seeing something compulsively acted out, driven by distant events). Pluto is also opposed the Sedna/ North Node conjunction, suggesting that he was unable to see how his power-needs might drive his life path.

But Pluto/ Vertex is quincunx Chiron, suggesting that the primal hurt continually stimulated the fated power needs–and through Chiron we see something else: the asteroid opposes Juno, Saturn, Mars, all conjunct in Sagittarius. This suggests that he may have seen women, especially those seeking to empower themselves (Juno), and those looking to find that empowerment through marrying a god (himself, in this scenario), as a source of extreme pain, and perhaps as entities who sought to suppress him as a man (Saturn conj Mars), and he may also have seen authorities and ‘the rules’ (Saturn) as suppressive to the masculine Archetype on which he modeled himself, in this case a Sagittarian one of active ‘bachelor’ and seeking behavior. This Chiron is also sextile Vesta (the wound is sacred) and square Ceres (conflict with Woman as a force of nature–may see women in general as something to be controlled, resisted, and perhaps treated as a threat). Here we may have the source of both his extreme aggression toward women and his choice of death date, lashing out a final time at the fiancée, a woman he likely saw as carrying a Juno/ Ceres Archetype, and thus believed by him to be a very powerful Being.

I know I’m in good company when I say that, like many of my colleagues, I’m finding more and more of my material stolen and published elsewhere. I’m given credit, listed as a ‘contributor,’ or the material is otherwise presented as if I’m a willing participant. Apparently, I’m supposed to be grateful and pleased, as my name is still associated with my work. Somehow these individuals fail to see that, as they reach into my pocket and help themselves, they are depriving me of control of my work, and in some instances, they, not I, profit from it. I think the reasoning goes: it’s already on the internet, you should be flattered that someone wants to read it! Just to let my readers know, any authorized sale or presentation of my work will be announced here, and anyone who claims to be authorized to sell my books or ECLIPSE, or who presents an article, in whole or part, has bootlegged them–they’re only available through me http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com with a Juno series available through http://sasstrology.com

Speaking of unauthorized access, yesterday morning, after awaking from what felt like a coma (and truth be told, it was already noon), I was sitting near the garden window when suddenly a man appeared, wanting to know if he could take flowers from my yard. Normally I would’ve said, ‘Take some,’ but it struck me that this man had not come to the door, but had instead crossed the yard from the road and was in essence on the verge of helping himself when he saw me. I have some real issues with boundaries–my Pisces Moon symbolizes my life-long challenge, and I’m repeatedly reminded that to claim what is my own, and to do with it what I will (whether it’s my work or a flower in my garden) is bound to attract those who will be angry because I don’t allow them to take. This may especially be an issue now, for many of us, with Mercury poised as it is, and relatively isolated. Even if someone tries to make you feel bad about it (and users will), don’t hesitate to claim what’s yours.

Support the blog and get three or six months worth of forecasts, special sections on events, and more! And many Thanks to those who’ve been so supportive, and especially to those who’ve purchased the mag, visited the page and taken the polls, and who say such nice things in comments, tweets, and ratings! And to those who say not such nice things, or who rate things poorly, I thank you, too, as I value the feedback–but of course I hope you’ll find another astrologer who serves you better–no one should be unhappy!

16 August 2010: Deep Emotion

10 PM of the 15th sees the Scorpio Moon sesquiquadrate Jupiter in Aries, kicking off the week with an eye to expansion of Self-interests–it’s ‘me’ time, for each of us, and rightly so–a kind of suspension that allows us to look long and deep (Scorpio) into what we really need as individuals to assert ourselves beyond the usual horizon. A tall order, not necessarily to be accomplished in a single leap–this is a point when we can get a great intuitive measure and emotional ‘feel’ for our own needs–take advantage of this, as often as not we aren’t really aware of our own best interests, or what we really, truly want.

1 AM PDT of the 16th the Moon sextiles Mercury, which will be retrograding in Virgo in a scant five days (ECLIPSE readers see commentary on this and particularly the direction, which coincides with Pluto’s). Communication will be disjointed, now and for some time, and to some extent each of us may feel isolated–this Moon contact may only highlight what will become very familiar over the coming weeks.

8 AM and the Moon opposes Sedna–don’t expect to know what you feel at this point, and don’t rely on intuition right now–you will simply not have access to it, and by 10 AM PDT the Moon forms a T square with the Sun/ Earth axis, presenting an ‘assessment moment’ in terms of effort and the direction it’s taking you. This may be relatively minor, but serves as a small check-up for how effectively you may be choosing and whether actions are actually taking you where you want to go.

5 PM-ish PDT the Moon squares Neptune, perhaps delivering a reality check on some point we’ve glossed over or ignored up to now, and by 7 PM the Moon squares Chiron, inviting us to either meet the Neptunian challenge with our most unique skills or to crumple into a sad heap, hurt that everything isn’t handed to us, just so–your choice.

By 9 the Moon trines Uranus in Water, both bodies at 29 degrees, suggesting stress to the emotions and to the matters of the House ruled by Uranus in the natal chart. This upset may wiggle under consciousness and seem unreasonably hard to pin down, and may as well bring emotional surprises or shocks–just remember, a current running through water shocks much worse than the voltage implies!

The Void’s once again not worth mentioning; the Moon enters Sagittarius at 10:33 PM PDT, with 2:30 AM-ish on the 17th bringing the Moon semi-sextile Pluto, sextile Saturn, and trine Jupiter–is there no rest, as the saying goes, for the wicked? Or the rest of us, for that matter!  The emotions may seem both solid and expansive, filling up the room and immovable–and that may be a good experience or a not so good one, depending on what’s come to the emotional surface from the inner life (Pluto). A time when, whatever the outlook, it’s likely to be exaggerated.

My apologies for skipping Sunday; I have a bad cold and literally slept most of the day–sorry if it threw anyone off. ECLIPSE fills in when I’m not available, with forecasts for August, September, and October, special sections on events such as the upcoming Venus Retrograde, and much more! And many thanks to all who’ve already purchased ECLIPSE; I’ll be adding to the private page sometime this week–I’ll post it here (password at the end of the first article, on creativity, in the magazine). http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/new-summer-2010-eclipse/
