So, which one is the Gemini? This Ascendant can get a reputation, if they’re careless. ‘Gossip’ by Eugen von Blaas, 1903 {{PD}}

Is Gemini aware of the Universal interconnectedness of things, of the fine web threading among every single thing in the Cosmos, so that tugging on one bit jostles them all? Do we know if Gemini thinks of this as she moves, like a bee, from point to point, from upturned face to upturned face of so many persons, each of whom blossoms under Gemini’s quick wit and inclusive gaze? Does Gemini know she’s the human glue in all this, or, to stick with our previous metaphor, the one responsible for pollinating the world of ideas? I ask because Gemini can be highly ‘other oriented’ (echoing the twin symbology), to the extent that focus can be almost exclusively on the external—and this ‘looking outward’ could be responsible for Gemini’s reputation for flightiness and a concern with surfaces—but when those surfaces connect large webs of others to one another through shared ideas, they are helping create a lovely interconnectedness, a kind of psychic connective tissue for the Universal ‘body’.

An Air sign, the Gemini Ascendant can present as bubbly and chatty, shallow and unconcerned with what others consider ‘serious’—and yet, Gemini is almost always effectively informed, especially as to what’s current, or what needs to be known in the moment—he or she can’t help that their natural delivery is light and deft. Looking out through the Gemini Ascendant, this individual likely views everything in terms of a network—they see the natural connectedness of all things—and it’s this thoughtful ability to connect the dots that makes Gemini so remarkable, as it manifests more as instinct than as mind. Too, they are highly mentally active from the get-go, and this suggests an early environment where thinking on one’s feet was beneficial to survival; it also implies the possibility that mental interaction with the caretakers and with the world was encouraged—or seen as vital to existence—and these individuals are almost always very early speakers and readers. One thing that Gemini almost insists upon is a response from those with whom he or she communicates, and this can open a chink in that cheerful armor, as exchange is a big part of the Gemini identity, and when denied it Gemini can suffer real mental anguish. The Gemini weakness is that the early environment may have convinced them that everything can be sorted out with the mind—and so others may observe Gemini stumbling slightly behind the curve emotionally, especially during teen and young adult years. Gemini is nothing if not a keen observer, though, and uses the Mercurial wit and alertness to get up to speed in a swift and efficient manner.

The Gemini Ascendant can appear to others to be insecure, even petty; if we look at things from the viewpoint of the twins, however, we see that this impression only arises when Gemini doesn’t feel sure she or he has a good grasp of the facts or the current situation. Nerves can make Gemini clam up, but the mentality is never lacking in wit, and this individual typically loves word games, puns, and challenging puzzles, and so can appear to others a bit of the detective, pursuing answers and looking for ‘why’. There is an instinct within Gemini that honors knowledge, learning and discovering, and the ‘Big Picture’, all expressions of opposite sign Sagittarius; as time goes on Gemini uses the networking ability more and more as a teaching, philosophy spreading, and life-improvement strategy, in service to the wider world, balancing the Mercurial urge with the Jupiterian one.

What You’re Asking: Eros in Public, An Emo Ghost, and Stalker Synastry

Katsushika Hokusai (葛飾北斎) ‘The Lantern Ghost’ c1830 {{PD-Japan-oldphoto}}

This is a re-print from ‘Been There, Done That’, my relationship site; phrases below in italics are taken from internet searches that have brought individuals to my sites.  I hope you enjoy this article (once again, perhaps?)

Eros conjunct the Midheaven

In the chart of an individual, Eros conjoined the Midheaven will likely manifest as an eroticization of the career or public function; in other words, he or she will be turned on by the professional role, and/or by their own exposure (and I use that word intentionally) in the public arena. This can have very innocent results–someone super-dedicated to the role they play in life can be the result, the consummate professional who excels because they’re truly dedicated to what they do–or it can bring about the kind of person who participates very eagerly in life–they ‘play the game’ with gusto. This can also be someone who thrives on the attention of the crowd, and particularly likes to hear about themselves and their reputations–a kind of reverse gossip, who wants to hear it all, as long as it’s about him or her! It can also signal someone who’s very open and honest about their proclivities, or someone who doesn’t mind others knowing what they truly are turned on by–they show preferences with no holding back, no shame, very healthy as they let others look on minus any hesitation about others knowing who they are–because to them, the private stuff lies elsewhere. And yes, it can also signal someone for whom their own public image is eroticized, with those observing seeing them as a sexual object, or as personifying an idealized sexual image as prescribed by the relevant society or even social circle. See an example here

Cross-chart, if one person’s Eros conjuncts another’s MC, we see the Eros person turned on by the career and/or public image of the other person–this could be a celebrity-chaser, or someone who often finds themselves attracted to those that others admire, with or without it making any sense. The response of the MC person will depend largely on that person’s feeling about receiving that erotic projection; if it fits their own ideas about themselves, they may thoroughly enjoy it–if it’s at odds with the way they see themselves (or the way they believe the other person should perceive them) then it can be a disquieting experience to interact with the Eros individual–minds will be changed, or the MC person will beat feet out of there fast, out of sheer discomfort!

Don’t confuse Eros with love; it is, instead, focused desire with the intention to possess that upon which it’s fixed–and though sometimes that feels like love, it’s really a type of projection, a decision to mentally overlay the person or object (because yes, they call fetishes and toys and talismans and such ‘erotica’ for a reason!) with sexual meaning.

Do Gemini men indulge in adultery?

They’re human, aren’t they? No sign is immune to any behavior,  just as no sign guarantees a behavior–we’re much more complex than that. Here’s my thought: if you’re asking the question, then you’re not feeling secure in the relationship–so the next issue becomes, Is it you, or is it him? Sometimes we project our own proclivities onto others; in this case, you might be prone to stray yourself, or, more likely, you might be unreliable, and this could translate into a need to constantly be reassured in whatever life area you are least secure, in this case, the romantic one. Or, this could genuinely be your intuition speaking. Only you know for sure.

husband not emotionally there

My heart (and the hearts of many of my readers) definitely go out to you. It’s not easy trying to relate to someone who seems unreachable on any but an intellectual level. That said, we must acknowledge that your husband’s emotions exist–and it’s important to say this, as it’s easy to pretend that someone not showing emotion doesn’t have emotions. And that suggests that he’s either feeling alienated from his own emotions (via depression) or that he is hiding his feelings from you.

I don’t mean to be glib, but it seems to me that if your husband is not emotionally there, with you, then he must be somewhere else–and I think that in some circumstances, this is the reality we don’t want to face. If this happens to strike a chord with you, the first thing you must do is face that, though a relationship consists of many facets, and connects at many levels, a marital relationship without emotional engagement basically negates all but the legal definition of the pact; marriage is, at its very essence, an emotional communion–and without that, you may be looking at the fact that the marriage no longer exists.

It’s essential that you understand a few things before you make any decisions or pronouncements: that your husband has disengaged for a reason–it may be one he needs help with (like depression) or may be one he will fiercely deny or defend against (infidelity, emotional or physical, a change in his feelings toward you, a spiritual path that may have turned him strongly toward considering only himself–and this latter should’ve lead him to formally end a relationship with you long before, so it’s not a more ‘noble’ excuse). You must also recognize that you cannot control his responses, nor should you try; though there may be a feeling that he ‘owes you’ (as implied by some readings of the marriage vows) sorting this out is not helped by judgments or demands, though it’s true that as your partner, he needs to acknowledge and deal with his own disengagement. You must also acknowledge your own, true feelings; sometimes we are as disengaged as our partner, but don’t want to see it–and sometimes we simply want to extract ‘payment’ in some form, for the pain we feel they’ve caused–but in both instances, we may not love anymore, ourselves, and are misrepresenting our own position, out of righteousness, as well as misunderstanding our own emotional state.

Sometimes we cannot get our partner, when he’s in this state, to speak in any meaningful way about existing circumstances, and in this case, it falls to you to decide how you feel (regardless of his feelings–after all, your feelings aren’t dependent on his, are they? And if they are, then it’s high time this relationship was examined, anyway). You only have control of yourself, so once you determine your own feelings (and sort out your own needs) you’ll know whether this ghost husband is offering anything sustainable, anything that still retains the shape of a marriage, and it will be quite obvious what you must do from there. Good luck–

Why did Venus hate Psyche?

I think ‘hate’ is the wrong word here–I think Venus was threatened by Psyche’s beauty, and that would make her both envious (wanting what Psyche has) and jealous (when Venus’ son Eros, whose full attention Venus had up to this point, falls in love with Psyche–Venus wants the attention of Eros, that Psyche now has). It just illustrates the idea that a woman who tries to destroy another woman hates a little part of herself–not a pretty picture at all.

stalker synastry

All synastry is highly dependent on the interaction of individual charts for ‘punch,’ and the synastry of a stalker to a stalkee could have any number of compelling aspects. A few include: the Pluto of the stalker to any identity energy (Sun, Moon, Venus for female, Mars for male, chart ruler, Sun or Moon ruler) of the stalked; Saturn of the stalker to these same identity energies (signalling a possible compulsion to control); Ceres (especially a female’s Ceres) to prominent chart energies; in negative Juno contact (usually more bossy than stalky); and Neptune prominent in the stalker’s chart and contacting significant energies of the stalkee–this latter obviously brings a high possibility of delusion into the mix. Still, so much depends on how these individuals use their energies, that just having some of these contacts doesn’t necessarily promise obsession–whew!

How to Make It Through the Holidays: Gemini

Gemini by Sidney Hall 1825 {{PD-Art}}

No matter what you do or don’t celebrate, it’s the holiday season–there’s no way to avoid it. In the newsletter I shared a few tongue-in-cheek suggestions for how to survive this annual time of family, food, fights, fun, fruitcake, and all those other ‘f’ words, and I’ll be sharing a little advice for each sign, one at a time. Your Nemesis, listed at the end of the sign, suggests who might be out to sabotage or just give you a hard time, while your angel is the sign energy you can call on in others for assistance, and your personal elf or cherub is the sign energy that will cheer you up and work behind the scenes to make your holiday special. Watch for the rest of the signs during the coming weeks.

Gemini  It’s all light-hearted banter with you, isn’t it, until someone loses a figurative eye as your barbs get pointier and pointier from holiday tension?  You network, you schedule, you flirt and cajole and fast talk others into so many overlapping commitments that when they finally turn on you, wanting to know what you’re going to contribute, you feel betrayed–after all, you’ve done all the assigning and scheduling and deciding and thinking and worrying, and gosh, that’s exhausting, it’s the hardest part of the holiday, the planning! You’ve invited criticism, and in an effort to make it up to others you may agree to sell your first born or to make the entire holiday dinner at both your parents’ house and your in-laws’ house. Over-committing is your problem, whether you’re doing it for others or doing it to yourself. It’s very simple: don’t put yourself in charge of everybody’s to-do list. But let’s be fair, Gemini, you often find yourself the target of gossip, innuendo, and catty remarks, not because of anything you’ve done, but because others are jealous of your social butterfly ways, and that can make the holidays trying as  you must deal with two-faced interactions and undermining by those who are less appealing, and know it. The remedy for this may be twofold: grow a thick skin, and don’t hold back a thing when it comes to showing off your sparkling and engaging personality. Why? Because nothing bugs your frenemies like seeing you at the top of your game, and at the center of the social whirl, right where you belong. Your Nemesis this holiday season: Taurus, Cancer, or Sagittarius/ Your secret angel: Aquarius/ Your own personal elf or cherub: Libra

21-22 March 2010: Conversation and Conflict

Gemini, Moon, My Daily Astrology Diary

By 8 PM PDT the Gemini Moon at mid-sign squares Jupiter (the US vote for health care reform, conflict out in the open, social change) kicks off our Moon reporting period; at a personal level this makes for a desire to make social contact, or create a social encounter, even though not everyone will be receptive to overtures. Midnight comes and the Moon quincunxes the North Node, and emotions and intuitions adjust to the life direction–it becomes a re-orientation to the real, a ‘back to everyday life’ time after the social outreach of the Jupiter contact–and we head into Monday, and our week begins.

And what are we faced with by 2 AM PDT? The Moon’s sextile to Venus, bringing our attention gently but firmly to relationships, talents, and or finances–it’s a moment when we must see our position clearly, in order to respond appropriately–over- or underestimation will cause us to respond (as response is the key with the talking, communicating, networking, conversing Gemini Moon) in a way that sabotages what can be a leap forward in fortune or relationship. 9 AM brings a sextile to Vesta, reminding us to align our actions and emotional perceptions with our most important values.

4 PM PDT and the Moon squares Uranus, and we have a choice: we can feel emotional upheaval internally, focused on thwarted expression of our individuality, or we can send that emotional laser into the group and train our discontent there. In either case we’ll have some gripes; how we handle them will likely involve some talk–just make sure yours is productive and not used as a weapon (with Mercury now in Aries the temptation may be to sharpen the tongue and use it as a sword! Emotionally satisfying but it’ll leave havoc in its wake, so better not).

By 6 PM PDT we have a trine to Neptune followed an hour later by one to Chiron. This brings the emotions into harmony, but with what? For some the ideals will inspire and skills will quickly follow; for others delusion beckons and hurt is its inevitable companion. So, this is how you’ll know whether you’re effectively following the ideals: if it hurts, it’s not an ideal, but an illusion, where you may be telling yourself a less-than-truthful version of what’s going on. Course correct, as you can accomplish modifications easily now.

8:41 PM PDT on the 22nd the Moon enters the Void, encouraging us to relax and perhaps meditate (in whatever form we like) on the Moon’s trip through Gemini. It likely left us with a few exchanges or conversations to consider, and we may need to wait until the Moon enters Cancer (11:15 PM PDT) before we see the implications of the previous Moon period.

Finger of God, Gemini, Moon, My Daily Astrology Diary

As promised yesterday, we can look forward to:  “another emotional wrinkle in things (at) 10:45 AM PST or so of the next day, the 22nd, but what a kerfluffle: the Moon in Gemini trines Zeus and squares Venus (the latter perfects noonish, PST)–here we must watch for the tendency of those who feel vulnerable (the Moon) to side with power and ambition, with the strivers (Zeus), even when this is not in their own best interests. Love, relationships, earning the reward or using the talent may seem too hard (square to Venus), but don’t let making a little effort sabotage what could be an excellent opportunity.”

Gemini Moon-which one to choose, which way to go? image from http://karenswhimsy.com

As the Moon squares Venus it also semi-squares Mars, which may only exaggerate the urge to win, something, in some way, not anybody’s choice for how to start off the week. We’re all, unfortunately, susceptible to a tendency toward pushing forward with the fantasy (Uranus, Venus, Jupiter, Sun all in Pisces) and justifying it with what seems like a rational train of thought, but which is likely either flawed from a basis in hurt or built on a fantasy (Chiron, Neptune, Mercury in Aquarius). Some can mobilize these energies very positively, with a resulting expression of the mentality based in imagination or ideals–aim for this no matter what your inclinations, and the results may be much better than you expect.

By 9 PM PST the Moon trines Mercury and we finally find out what we want to know–of course, this can appear to us to be positive or negative–just keep in mind Jung, and ask yourself, “What good can come from this bad?” or, “What bad can come from this good?” Not fun, but it not only prepares us, it keeps our emotions (and our reasoning ability and expectations) on a fairly even keel.

11 PM PST the Moon quincunxes the North Node, and we may feel we must adjust our course to accomodate feelings that surface; the problem is that no matter what time zone you’re in, this will feel like a middle-of-the-night, stressful, got-to-act-now revelation. Treat it as something to be mulled over, and 9 out of 10 of us will be glad we didn’t act, while that 1 will simply be in a better position to do what must be done. Then by 1 AM PST the 23rd the Moon quincunxes Pallas, and the Finger of God that forms (apex Moon, sextile between Pallas and NN) informs the emotional impulse with the wise choice. See? I told you to wait! And it pays off.

In gratitude to all who’ve been so supportive in purchasing the inaugural issue of ECLIPSE, I’d like to offer the opportunity to ask a single, brief question. Email me at juliedemboski@hotmail.com with your query; include your birth info (write out the month, place name not co-ordinates) and I will determine if your question requires a look at the natal chart, at transits, or a horary chart. Vague, open-ended questions bring vague answers; specifics bring focused info. All answers will, of necessity, be very brief; be patient, I’ll get back to you as quickly as possible, and I’m sure you can understand that I won’t have the time for any follow-up exchanges, though of course I look forward to any comments you may have. This offer is valid only for purchasers of the magazine, and cannot be reassigned to anyone else, and the email used must be the email from which you purchased the magazine–no exceptions. No questions will be answered before magazine purchase. And, in case you’re wondering, it’s not too late–purchase your own copy of ECLIPSE–only $2.95!–and get in on the deal! http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/eclipse-in-depth-astrology-for-the-21st-century/ And a big thank you to all who’ve participated by buying the mag and asking a question–it’s truly been a delight!

Today’s Link: from one of my idols, Melanie Reinhart, an article on the Chiron/Neptune conjunction (click through to articles, by Melanie, Chiron/ Neptune–there’s no direct link to the article) http://melaniereinhart.com/

And have a great day!

21 Feb 2010: Something to Talk About

Gemini, Moon, My Daily Astrology Diary

At 8:09 AM PST on the 21st we see the Taurus Moon just past square to Vesta; from my viewpoint, the start of the Taurus Moon Void. 10:47 AM brings the Moon into Gemini and ends a period that we’d best spend relaxing–we could probably all use it. It’s not until the 2 PM hour PST that the Moon makes its first aspect, a sextile to Mars retrograde in Leo–the ego may urge us to action, the emotions concur, but the most we may be up for is talk. We shouldn’t underestimate the value of exchanging ideas, networking, chatting, making connection, discussing, even jabbering pointlessly–for it’s in allowing the thoughts to flow that we may stumble upon important ideas, or come to some useful and happy realizations. Allowing a kind of free association in interaction will lead us in the right direction, whatever that may be.

Approximately 4:30 PM PST the Moon moves into T-square with the Sun/ Earth axis, and trines Saturn–if we’re looking for a time in the day when we can make the absolute most of our efforts, this is it, providing we can reconcile the tension that naturally arises between the emotional and intuitive perspective and the viewpoints of the identity, the spiritual Self, the material needs, and physical demands on the individual. Constructive action that respects the past, status quo, and rules will bring all facets into harmony, and allow us to make the most of this time.

6:30 PM PST finds the Moon quincunx Pluto, and the two energies want to, what else? talk it out. Discussion on the sharing of power, what must change or be destroyed and how we feel about it, take center stage. Those who resist opening up, whether they try to keep power for themselves, or because they find open talk threatening, will have the toughest time.

We don’t see another emotional wrinkle in things until 10:45 AM or so of the next day, the 22nd, but what a kerfluffle: the Moon in Gemini trines Zeus and squares Venus–here we must watch for the tendency of those who feel vulnerable (the Moon) to side with power and ambition, with the strivers (Zeus), even when this is not in their own best interests. Love, relationships, earning the reward or using the talent may seem too hard (square to Venus), but don’t let making a little effort sabotage what could be an excellent opportunity.
