The Orion Nebula--Thanks, NASA!

The Orion Nebula–Thanks, NASA!

The New Moon in Aquarius occurs at 11:20 PM PST at 21 Aquarius 43 and squares the Nodal axis, along with Sedna (which is conjunct the SN), and quincunxes Ceres–and that’s all (according to our strict 2 or so degree allowed orb). This suggests that what is conceived at the NM is something we are unaware of, which will speak of the depths of our individuality (Sedna), that will figure in to determining our life course (Nodes), and which will be dictated by our nature, specifically by the Ceres traits expressed by the power we hold, the influence we exercise, our relationships to those for whom we are responsible, the function of negotiation, and our natural environment, to include our own role as a Being within Nature.

We do know it will begin something–and this something will start a ‘learning curve’ for us that will play out in a way that re-defines our sense of power, our influence, our reach, and some of our relationships, with all of it speaking very specifically to us as unique individuals.

For the rest of the New Moon report, including info on what areas of life it will apply to for you according to where it falls in your natal chart, order ECLIPSE Weekly Aspect Digest–it’s all in the current Valentine Issue!

Your ECLIPSE Weekend Reader: A Little of This, A Little of That

‘Dancing Fairies’ August Malmstrom {{PD-Art}}

Bits and pieces from the current ECLIPSE, for your weekend reading pleasure–have a great one!

On the Jupiter-Saturn riptide:

Through the month of January Jupiter will slow to direction on the 30th, and Saturn will slow to retrograde in mid-February. This may cause something over the next 6 weeks or so like a rip-tide, with the surface current going one direction and the undertow strongly in another. When Jupiter turns direct, we often feel as if the world opens up to us in the area of the chart where this occurs, or in matters of the natal House Jupiter rules. It’s perceptual, rather than actual, in most cases, as Jupiter stands for what we believe, rather than for what is (that’s Saturn’s domain). So if what we believe in one area contradicts what is actually happening in another (the withdrawal, denial of, or concrete manifestation of something in the portion of the chart where Saturn currently transits, or in the House it rules) what do we need to do, to avoid confusion? Anyone? Anyone? We must look for the way/ place in the natal chart where these two energies, Jupiter and Saturn, intersect, in order to understand precisely how we may see what can amount to unwarranted optimism occur–by which I mean that conflict between what appears to be a ‘Go!’ signal but which is actually stalled, denied, or withheld, at least for now, given shape and form specific to the individual chart.

Astrology at the Movies:

MV5BMTM4NjY1MDQwMl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNTI3Njg3NA@@._V1._SY317_CR0,0,214,317_Midnight in Paris (2011) is ultimately an enjoyable entertainment where the sum of its parts delivers considerably less than we could reasonably expect. As a pure example of Neptune in Pisces, however, it’s flawless, showing all the creative fantasy, idealism, delusion, illusion, romance, weakness, pretensions, and naiveté of writer/ director Woody Allen; it’s like having Allen’s artistic abilities and sensibilities spooned up for us, and we see how thin the broth really is, after all these years. This time around Owen Wilson (Gil) is the sub for Allen, a highly successful Hollywood screenwriter who believes he was meant to write serious literature. On a trip to Paris with his brittle fiancée (Rachael McAdams) and her parents (Kurt Fuller and the wonderful Mimi Kennedy) Gil waxes nostalgic for the jazz age 20s, awed by the idea of some of the biggest artistic names of the century mingling in the City of Lights. A touring car of the era and a clock striking midnight transport Gil to his heart’s desire–and what we get are bombastic and unconvincing speeches from those creative greats, as if they spent their lives speaking of themselves with the hindsight of death and time, and Wilson’s decidedly uncreative writer, who has nothing more to say to his supposed heroes than to gush insipidly over their work. The revelation that everyone sees an era other than the one they live in as golden, as the epitome of romance, is no revelation at all. Gil uses these magical encounters not to explore the personalities of the creatives, or to truly absorb the workings of the era itself, but to (as many a writer, especially a small-minded Self-centered one, would) get Gertrude Stein and Hemingway to read his novel. If his repetitive and shallow exclamations (“Paris is just so beautiful in the rain!” “That’s so amazing!” “Golly, I can’t tell you how great it is to be here!”) tell us anything, it’s that Gil has been in the right place (Hollywood), and succeeded at the right thing for him (“hack work”, as he puts it), all along. Disappointingly, Allen ends the movie as he nearly always does, with his stand-in getting the (much, much) younger girl. Eww. With Michael Sheen, delicious as an academic know-it-all, Tom Hiddleston perfectly cast as Scott Fitzgerald, and Alison Pill woefully miscast as Zelda.

The outlook for Saturday the 12th:

We may see clashes between individual and group interests, radicalism in love or spending, conflict in relationship over erratic or hyper-independent behavior, and/ or the costs of going our own way, or of implementing what’s new (and perhaps revolutionary) (Venus square Uranus). Our uniqueness and our need for expression conflicts with what relationships or earning requires–darn. The Sun perfects his trine to Sedna, making ‘clairvoyance’ (clear sight) impossible, even with all that direct light–impossible UNLESS we are willing and able to stare unflinchingly into the void (of Self)–then the abyss may share its secrets with the patient and those not distracted with the upsets surrounding love, money, and Self-expression.

And for the 13th:

The Aquarius Moon trines Zeus at 2 AM PST, stimulating the mind with a big dose of mental lust, so to speak; the emotions are swept along with a cascade of exciting ideas–note what they are, as ideas formed now can act as inspiration later, of a kind that you will immediately and strongly respond to, and so carry through with. At noon the Moon trines Ceres, offering a strong internal sense of authority, or the support of external authorities, maternal figures, or nature in fulfilling your efforts. 1 PM PST the Moons squares Sedna. We lose our emotional place, and may suffer a sense of loss. It’s only temporary–allow yourself to drift, if possible. 3 PM PST the Moon quincunxes the Earth and soon thereafter squares the Nodal axis. We may find material matters irritating and requiring adjustments, and these modifications lead us to examine the effectiveness (or not) of the current life path. Let’s count the Void as beginning at 4:40 PM Pacific. The Moon enters Pisces at 2:50 AM PST of the 14th.

Just a Little Weekend Lunar Essence 15-16 December 2012: ‘Feel It And It Happens’

Cascades_d'Ouzoud

For Saturday 15 December 2012:

2 AM PST the Capricorn Moon forms the base of a Finger of God with the North Node, apex Earth. This suggests that emotions will translate smoothly into life direction, which will have a direct impact on the material situation. This could be a ‘feel it and it happens’ aspect; or rather, a ‘feel it and it changes our efforts, which impact our material circumstances’. Doesn’t flow as well, but means exactly the same thing. 4 AM PST the Moon sextiles Pallas, infusing the feelings with wisdom (and probably a good dose of patience, too).  Noon Pacific time the Moon sextiles Venus in the 29th degree of Scorpio. This stresses relationships and/ or finances, where we are likely to worry there’s something we don’t know about one or the other. The answer to this may actually precede this contact, at around 11 AM PST when the Moon captures Juno at the midpoint of Moon-Venus. This might show us exactly where our real empowerment status and options lie–and the lesson we should take from this is that it’s easy to forget what we know, when something dear (relationships, funds, assets, our Art) comes under stress.

And for Sunday the 16th:

2 AM of the 16th the Aquarian Moon becomes part of a cascade effect, by squaring Saturn, sextiling Mercury, and semi-sextiling Pluto–which arrangement of course catches Merc at the Saturn-Pluto midpoint. The effect may be one where each of us only sees a portion of the chain–one person experiences repression of emotion (Moon sq Saturn) communicates that (Merc) to another, who perceives it as a destructive or deliberately harmful confession (Pluto), for instance, or where transformative emotions (Moon-Pluto) are not communicated to a father-figure or authority (Saturn-Merc) or where those emotions allow one to break the rules (Saturn-Pluto), for another example.

Just a Little AstroEssence for Your Weekend: ‘Opening the Door’

‘Leaving the Studio’ Paxton 1921 {{PD-Art}}

For Friday the 16th:

2 PM PST the Moon conjuncts Pluto, inviting an emotional purge, especially one centered on the things we feel restricted by (Capricorn). A few will use the emotions or intuition to gain power or to destroy, while a handful of others may see a way to transform either the emotional approach or the matters of the House with Cancer on the cusp–if this is you, believe what you see in the ‘doorway’, and step through.

Saturday the 17th:

November 17th the Sun and Mercury meet up in Inferior Conjunction (the meeting that occurs when Merc is retro), and both conjunct the North Node; Mars also sextiles Neptune. This may plant a seed that is specifically oriented toward creative action, either in matters of the House where the Sun-Merc-NN falls (25-26 Scorpio) or in matters of a generally Scorpionic nature–so things that involve research, secrets, mysteries, emotional depths, destruction, re-birth, transformation–and these latter can be of materials or individuals who change or re-make themselves in some way, especially in matters of feeling and ‘heart’. We likely get an energy boost, and start something intense and meaningful to us personally–and perhaps of import to others, as well.

And for Sunday the 18th:

Around 4:30 AM PST the Moon hits the midpoint of Neptune-Mars, which should illuminate, through feeling or intuition, those creative acts, choices, and moves we spawned yesterday. It’s a chance to course-correct so that the whole psyche can support our efforts. 1PM PST the Moon squares Saturn; we either find we need to contain the emotions or we find ourselves hitting a brick wall in the feeling department. Either way it’s almost an invitation to stop trying to navigate everything emotionally, and tune up logic and pure reason–Moon in Aquarius will support this, and we’ll get a fresh, and likely needed, perspective.

Just a Little Lunar Essence 23 October 2012: ‘Lash Out or Clam Up’

‘A Basket of Clams’ Winslow Homer 1873 {{PD-Art}}

3 PM PDT the Aquarius Moon squares Sedna, then goes on to quincunx Venus and square Mercury. In effect we get a T-square wherein we ‘lose’ both feelings and our ability to articulate them, even as relationships, finances, or values are requiring us to make adjustments. Depending on how much your Self-image rests on being able to express yourself, you will in exact proportion find yourself frustrated and prone to lash out (or clam up). It’s not the time to deal with anything, simply because everything we encounter will feel as if it’s exerting pressure–and when we can’t even say ‘Ow!’ we’ll be feeling stymied, indeed.

Just a Little Lunar Essence for 26-27 September 2012: ‘The Magic Word is ‘Moderation”

‘Allegory of Modesty and Vanity’ or ‘The Conversion of the Magdalene’ Apparently, it’s your choice. By Bernardo Luini c1560 {{PD-Art}}

For today, the 26th of September:

Void begins at 8:35 PM PDT; the Moon enters Pisces at 10:24 PM PDT.

Right away the Moon joins with Neptune and trines Ceres. The aspect picture is one of unreliable emotional perceptions, misleading or distorted intuitions, creativity inspired by nature, or emotional reactions to the assertions of authorities or Mom. We may feel ‘drugged up’ without the actual drugs, zoned out, or overwhelmed by feeling or fog. There’s not much to be done, except to avoid commitment or contracts for the active window of this contact and perhaps to allow ourselves to enter a creative zone that accesses things we are often too connected to reality to observe or enjoy.

And for tomorrow, the 27th:

9 AM PDT the Moon conjuncts Chiron, sextiles Pluto, and semi-sextiles Uranus. We have the choice to wallow in hurts from the past, stew over revenge, and exhaust ourselves, or we can allow healing, try to change the world, and exhaust ourselves. Moderation is the magic word at this time.

To see it all in detail, order ECLIPSE! New issues arrive in your email every Thursday evening Pacific time (and here’s where I remind you that the Vesta book will be out soon, free to current subscribers!) It’s affordable and accurate–so if you come here often, you really should have it all–order now!

Oh! And this site is on the verge of hitting 700,000 views (over about 4 1/2 years)! I’ll be giving away a FREE copy of CHIRON, INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP, or JUNO, or an extra 3 Months on their paid subscription (the Winner can choose) to the first person who subscribes or renews their subscription today, the 26th, or tomorrow, the 27th (Pacific time). I’ll also add a FREE 2 Months to the subscription of anyone who subscribes or renews their subscription today, the 26th and tomorrow, the 27th. Thanks to everyone for visiting, and a special Thank You to subscribers for their loyal, consistent, and generous support!

Update: Well that was quick! Congrats to Nick S.! I’m still giving away 2 Free Months with each new sub or renewal–so don’t wait! xo jd

A Little Astro Essence + the Aquarius Full Moon: ‘A Quiet Inspiration’

For today:

Prior to 5 PM PDT the Moon trines Vesta, finds herself at the midpoint of Pluto-Chiron, and sextiles Uranus. This may be like a small bomb going off, with emotional expression of our principles creating a minor firestorm. This almost certainly takes the form of words spoken or thoughts shared, with the Moon in Aquarius and Vesta in Gemini, but abrupt action may follow that changes the landscape significantly, so take special care with what you say, and what you share (it’s a poem!)

And about that Full Moon:

The Aquarius Full Moon arrives at 8:28 PM Pacific time of August 1 at 10 Aquarius 15

Keeping our usual strict 2 degree orb for aspects made by the Full Moon as it melds with Earth, we see sextiles to Uranus and Pallas in Aries, and trines to Vesta and Jupiter in Gemini. So much flowing energy fixes the Aquarian Full Moon in a constructive atmosphere of originality, wisdom, ‘right’ values, and a positive place in the social order. We are being given the gift of understanding (an Aquarian strength) of how we fit in, how we should think of our place (Gemini) and what we should do (Aries). The Sabian gives us an image upon which to draw: ‘During a Silent Hour, a Man Receives a New Inspiration Which May Change His Life’ We are shown an image that we may at first assume applies to the individual during meditation, and his or her receipt of, in essence, a ‘new spirit’ that directs him or her down a new life path, and this would not be wrong–that indeed may be the case for many, stilling the mind and finding the answers within–but this may for others represent finding a literal quiet spot, and in this retreat, something is introduced into one’s sphere that has a life altering effect. You may not see a great deal of difference between the two, but we are noting the difference between an inner solution, and one that may quite literally drop into one’s lap.

There’s more where that came from! All the above is from the newsletter. Order ECLIPSE and get a (usually) weekly dose of articles, thought, commentary, and aspect and Lunar analysis. Go ahead, it’s only $5 per month! And many Thanks to those who have!

In case you missed it, I will not be posting on the blog 3-23 August–so if you want your daily fix, get the newsletter! All other services (private clients and sales/ subscriptions) will continue as usual. Yes, give me my fix!

Just a Little Something for Your Week (and Weekend) Ahead 6-12 July 2012: ‘A Fertile Time’

Makes the spiritual look almost romantic, doesn’t it? Don’t be confused–fertile influences are everywhere this week! Molteni 1838 /image by Artgate Fondazione Cariplo distributed under Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported via Wikimedia Commons

First, just a little something about your upcoming week, from ECLIPSE Weekly Aspect Digest:

I’d like to offer an unusual warning concerning the week ahead: if you’re looking to conceive a child, the time is ripe; if you do not want a child, make sure you take extra precautions, as the Universe is just a poppin’ with fertile energy of all kinds. If you’re in creative endeavors, this is also an excellent time for you–seminal work could be generated at this point, as can a wealth of inspirations that you may spend years after exploiting through your creative work. Even a late garden can flourish in the lee of the Full Moon, so honor all that grows–it will pay off tremendously.

Now, you can’t say I didn’t tell you what’s up! For Saturday we have this:

Vesta enters 29 degrees and we may feel a great deal of pressure around the things we dedicate our lives to, or around home or mate. A sorting out needs to happen, a re-evaluation, so that we are not putting our energy toward, or showing reverence for, outmoded ideas. The Moon’s contact to Neptune assists us with this, and allows us to be truly inspired in re-ordering our priorities.

And for Sunday, the 8th of July:

On the 8th of July Mars quincunxes Neptune, adding fuel and energy to the imagination/ creative fire, but part of what we’ll have to deal with is the need to modify our actions in order to see our vision realized. Don’t balk at having to make a few changes–you’re too close to quit now.

Get the full report, week after week, for $5 per month (or less, with a 6 month subscription!) If you’re here several times a week, then ECLIPSE is for you, with articles, info, and the complete forecast that uses Chiron, Sedna, Ceres, Vesta, Pallas, Juno, and Zeus and offers all major contacts/influences of the transiting Moon for the 7 day period. Support the blog, and get everything you need–order now!

And Subscribers, among various typos in this week’s ECLIPSE, the one on the “sh*t down” of Arafat’s kidneys might take the grammar police cake! My apologies for a truly unsavory mistake.

Your Weekend 13-15 April 2012: ‘Jolt, Human Barometers, and Gravity x2’

Vorobiev 1842 {{PD-Art}}

Friday the 13th jolts us with the Mars Direction (8:52 PM PDT)–will we feel it? Yes, the turnaround will be a little whiplash-y, where in some way we’ll feel a portion of our life is out-of-control. The most vital point, though, may be that the Warrior begins to move forward beforereaching an encore opposition to Neptune–and that could mean we’ll see some individuals busy trying to resurrect an already-dead dream, ideal, or fantasy. If you find this is you, take a step back, and understand that mourning is really what’s in order, as you are definitely meant to move on.

For the 14th we have this from ECLIPSE Weekly Aspect Digest, available by subscription:

Just before 6 AM PDT the (Aquarius) Moon hits the midpoint of the Chiron/ Pluto sextile, suggesting we may almost become ‘human barometers’ through our emotional reactions and experience. This can point out all the danger zones, and also indicate our power and skill possibilities–now be careful sorting between those two! On the heels of this (7 AM PDT) comes the Moon’s trine to Venus, offering an excellent mental (Air placements) atmosphere, and with the simultaneous perfection of the semi-sextile to Pluto, we see a stance that can get to the bottom of things while maintaining relationships and not harming financial arrangements.

And for the 15th, we have an aspect formula that says, in part, we could find empowerment opportunities by taking a unique approach, and may see authorities acting creatively (and that could mean deceptively!) but that the most distinct feeling we experience could be the sense that we’re working against a double dose of gravity, making it a chore to put one foot in front of the other! We can thank the Saturn/ Earth conjunction for that :/

For much more, please join us!

And it would be great if you could ‘Like’ our press page over on Facebook

Thank you, and have a wonderful weekend!

Just a Little Weekend AstroEssence for 16-18 March 2012: ‘Conflict, Communion, Choice’

A Communion Portrait by Bastien-Lepage 1875 {{PD-Art}}

For Friday, the 16th:

3 PM PDT the Capricorn Moon squares Ceres; could indicate a conflict of female v. female, or very specifically, two mothers (or two spirits who have generated something unique and personal to themselves, and find themselves at odds). Issues of power, domain, and authority are parsed.

For Saturday, the 17th:

11:30 PM PDT the Aquarian Moon trines the South Node and creates a Finger of God with apex Mars and base of Moon/ Vesta. The past inspires us, perhaps even mesmerizes us, and may fuel the dedication of the emotional nature to our Highest Ideals, home, and/ or mate, which leads to successful (albeit muted, with the retro of Mars) action. This may not start out so great, in a nostalgic haze, but could end up making for a lovely interlude of communion and tenderness, where we are able to appreciate what gives us our emotional security in a rare and affecting way.

And for Sunday, the 18th:

11 AM PDT the Moon trines Zeus and squares Venus, suggesting that we’ll be given a chance to see just where fulfilling ambitions and wants will cost us. Or, dissonance in relationships or finances stirs us to get out there and work to make ambitions a reality. Or, following our desire nature (read ‘lust’) will put us into relationship conflict. Your choice.

To see it all, receive the latest Weekly Aspect Digest, which includes the New Moon report (which will not be available on the blog), get ECLIPSE AstroJournal and EXTRAs! to your email, and access the Protected Page that features every Lunar aspect every day, please subscribe!
