‘The Boating Party’ or ‘Reunion of the Meurthe Boating Party’, by Émile Friant – {{PD}}

The Lunar Essence: With the Full Moon in Aries at 23 Aries 14 occurring at 9:23 PM Pacific daylight time, we see the threesome of Earth-Moon-Uranus in a less than one degree span opposed the Libra Sun, which is sesquiquadrate Neptune. The Full Moon itself of course forms a semi-square to Neptune, and is as stated conjoined Uranus and widely conjoined Ceres, the latter of which sits at 29 degrees of the Moon’s sign, adding stress through the actions of Nature or authorities. The Full Moon is also quincunx Juno, and makes a wide square to Vesta, which we should count as the swift-moving Moon races toward, rather than away from, aspect completion, with this square creating a T-square with the Sun/ Earth-Moon-Uranus axis (but even more closely aspecting Ceres, as both Vesta and Ceres sit at 29 degrees), adding even more stress. It’s notable, too, that this Sun is also parallel both Juno and Neptune, suggesting that just observing, just seeing (the light of the Sun) can empower and make the dream, whatever that may be for the individual, a very realistic possibility.

full-moon-in-aries-october-2016So what do we get from this Full Moon? Why stress, of course! But from what source? We reach a peak of involvement with, rejection of, rebellion from, or original and innovative cooperation with ‘the group’, and this brings us to a point of ‘energy crisis’ in terms of our own power and authority, our priorities and those things we honor, and with how closely the results align with what we imagine is ideal, as well as how we feel about this resulting real-world arrangement. It’s a point of radical enlightenment, as we see quite clearly the personal power situation and the role we can play in the larger scenario, and these are revealed within the microcosm of a single interactive situation; we assess this real-life situation, and see beyond it (into the Uranian future, if you will) to what larger role we can play, title we can claim, or area where we can accomplish.

There are both stresses that are not under our conscious control, such as Mother Nature, exerting herself through things like weather and our own biology, and stresses within areas where we have exerted ourselves, tried to gain empowerment or authority, tried to commit to those matters that are most important to us. The Vestal energies of dedication, commitment, and the sacred must resolve against those Ceres energies of power expression, authority, and knowing and controlling our ‘domain’, and this is done through Ceres’ own mechanism of negotiation, an internal discussion that happens within the individual psyche that is acted out in real-world arenas. We see what adjustments, compromises, and alterations are required for ‘the dream’ to become reality, with the light of the Full Moon showing us exactly where and how we are empowered to make it happen.

The Sabian for the Full Moon is, ‘Blown Inward By The Wind, The Curtains Of An Open Window Take The Shape Of A Cornucopia’. The FM event ‘opens a window’ that is either a time period of opportunity, or an ability to both see our goals clearly, and to know what the ‘fruits’ of our current direction will actually be, the latter allowing us to make needed adjustments to our actions and choices. The FM offers either feedback that illuminates our own effectiveness and true course, or the chance to make things happen, if we’ll only take the steps, or modify our path, a chance to affect things that didn’t exist until now.

'Butterflies', Wilhelm von Kaulbach, c1860 {{PD}}

‘Butterflies’, Wilhelm von Kaulbach, c1860 {{PD}}

We always look at the Sun for a Full Moon, as the source of the Full Moon’s light. ‘A Butterfly With A Third Wing On Its Left Side’ suggests nothing so much as fulfillment; that is, the result of what has incubated and emerged, now fully ready, developed, that holds all the promise invested in its preparation–and a third wing simply implies a resource, a kind of existential aid, akin to the Third Eye: there is something extra, unplanned but propitious, that offers information or assistance specifically useful to our goals. Lucky us, right?

The AstroEssence: There are only a few other influences at play for the 15th, and these may have us spending the time leading up to the Full Moon with our attention in places other than those that will be illuminated with the Lunar culmination. One is the way we might be weighing methods of healing against our own wounds, judging physical as well as mental and emotional situations for how healthy they might be; it’s an attempt to concentrate on hurts, to deal with them, but perhaps not to totally embrace what we know to be the healthy option. We’re trying to justify holding on to our wounds. It’s our thinking that’s encouraging the problem: we are obsessed with the dark, with how we’ve been wronged, with how others hold power over us, and in continuing to nurse our hurts it’s taking a (Self) destructive turn. Fortunately, though, what we’ll actually choose to do will be done with an eye to building the future–it’s just that we may not see how much better the future could be, if we could forgive, heal, let go (Chiron sesq Hygeia, Mercury sq Pluto, Mars trine NN)

For those born with the Sun at 23 Libra: It’s all about taking what’s new, modern, original in your world and making the most of it. The sudden, the surprising, the heartfelt facilitates accomplishment, and the smart move is to embrace them. The only thing we can count on is change, right? Oh, and death and taxes. But, this coming year should be more than a little positive and profitable for you, Libra, just as long as you conquer that crisis in confidence, and realize you can’t rule unless you’re willing to claim your territory. Good luck, and Happy Birthday!

The AstroEssence: Saturday’s the day we’ve got it going on, and Sunday’s the day when we meet (and reassess) the results of all those Saturday choices. Initially we’ll be impulsive, spontaneously inspired, and hooked in to instincts; at the same time we’ll be immersed in a perverse inclination to de-value what’s smart, argue with what we’ve learned from the past, disbelieve what issues we’ve ignored or denied are telling us, and engage in hurtful communications, in one form or another. By Sunday we try to sort it out, and there are a few guidelines: the reality picture just won’t reflect your actual values, so don’t try to make them match, and don’t take your cue from what’s in front of you–what you honor should be your guide; you can’t rely on what others tell you, or what you yourself hear or think–so just don’t count on your mind as reliable–but, and it’s a big one, if you can align thinking with what is indisputably the wise choice or option, things can work out a-okay (Saturday: Vesta sesq SN, Uranus contra-parallel Juno, Venus sq Pallas, Mercury parallel Chiron and contra-parallel Ceres, Earth qnx Black Moon Lilith and nov Sedna; Sunday: Saturn sesq Vesta, Mercury sesq and parallel Pallas)

{{PD}}

{{PD}}

Saturday’s word image is a drake, a male mallard duck, with his iridescent green head and neck, black and white neck rings, soft gray body and brown vest. He’s a beauty, especially next to the more modestly colored female–but there’s a good reason for her camouflage (protecting her babies) and a good reason for his flash (to attract the ladies). Sometimes we don’t realize that the flash or modesty we see in others is just natural to them, and that they have good reasons for putting themselves forward, or hanging out in the shadows–try not to judge them for it.

For those born with the Sun at 16 Libra: This year it may feel as if you are sneaking up on your ambitions and desires–and really, this is the time to do all the preparation, positioning, and networking necessary to put you in just the right spot–because sometime in the year following your next birthday, you will be handed the chance to have, attain, or accomplish exactly what you’re aiming for–and your job now is to get ready. Good luck, Libra, and Happy Birthday!

Sunday’s word image is a Commodore 64. Yes, an antique! We may encounter things when they’re brand-spankin’ new, and not realize that as time passes they are not just no longer current, they are so outdated that they can’t interact with the current scene. Look around for something in your world that needs updating, in spite of it still doing the job–it’s not a bad thing to improve functions and effectiveness, and relegate something rather creaky to fond memory–and that goes for personalities, goals, skills, and relationships, too.

For those born with the Sun at 17 Libra: You are your ambitions and desires this year, Libra, and you let them show through the personality. This can be very very good, if you have a winning way about you and have done the necessary prep to meet your goals, or could come across more like a crazed Cookie Monster, if you simply go after what you want without giving it much forethought. You can see which of those is better, as in more effective, right? Good luck, Libra, and Happy Birthday!

Fitz Henry Lane - 'Brace's Rock' 1864 {{PD}}

Fitz Henry Lane – ‘Brace’s Rock’ 1864 {{PD}}

Friday’s New Moon is here–

The AstroEssence for the 1st: Inspiration, a wider world view, and the promise of reward for creative expression, all combine to cause problems! Who’d uh thunk, right? But it’s our creative urge, our love of imagining, that can go awry, either inspiring the desire to pull away from established values and commitments, or leading us in the wrong direction by presenting illusion or deception as truth. Willingly facing what we’ve hidden or ignored, talking about hurt both inflicted and received, and understanding the benefits of sticking to realities (for if we are unclear about where we are, how do we get to where we want to go?) all help us deal with current influences successfully (Neptune sesq Vesta, Jupiter contra-parallel Chiron and nov Black Moon Lilith, Venus trine Neptune, Mercury opp Chiron)

Today’s word image is found in multiples, in things that are spherical. Not round; our image is three-dimensional, and that’s an important point, as dimensionality suggests depth to the meaning of the image. A sphere contains space, and if we consider this a kind of model of our world–what does your sphere contain? Each of us lives in a series of energy ‘bubbles’: our physical and etheric bodies, our intimate associations and pastimes, our wider purview, and our ‘reach’ out into the wider world. Are you satisfied with what your sphere contains? Overwhelmed? Feel it’s empty? Watch for actual spheres to clue you in via symbolism to messages about your own personal spheres, their state and meaning.

For those born with the Sun at 9 Libra: You may spend this coming year, through to your next birthday, weighing and adjusting your creative impetus so that you can afford it, benefit from it, and so that it doesn’t harm relationships. It’s a tippy balancing act that you are almost inevitably sure to feel will never find equilibrium–but that is exactly what you will one day wake up with, just under one year from now–and that will free you to apply your creativity with confidence and all the support you really need. Good luck, Libra, and Happy Birthday!

‘Still Life With Candy’ By Circle of Georg Flegel – 17th century {{PD}}

The AstroEssence for the 2nd: Brace yourself: our own actions and choices may inadvertently undermine our aims, surprises in both our own thinking and in communications from others are abundant, we’ll be acutely aware of the flaws in what we’re creating, hurt and healing are handed out like candy, and our only real power seems to center in the ability to dig up the past and all our complaints about it. Try as we might, the day will more or less end up a jumble; best not to fret (little that happens today will have any lasting impact), so taking everything with a grain of salt and a wait-and-see attitude is the preferred coping method (Chiron nov Ceres, Pluto sxt Black Moon Lilith, Mars semi-sq Juno, Mercury qnx Uranus, Sun qnx Neptune and contra-parallel Mercury)

Today’s word image is a clock. Aside from the obvious ‘time is passing’ shtick of which we all must be aware, we might consider the linearity of our perceptions of time–is everything happening at once? I tend to think so–or perhaps the way the concept of ‘the arrow of time’ explains our linear perceptions even as it supports a microscopic lack of linear flow: This seems a fairly good explanation, from Wikipedia: “Physical processes at the Microscopic level are believed to be either entirely or mostly time-symmetric: if the direction of time were to reverse, the theoretical statements that describe them would remain true. Yet at the macroscopic level it often appears that this is not the case: there is an obvious direction (or flow) of time.” Confused enough yet? As a symbol of time, I think the point of this image is twofold: awareness that we can only move in one direction, time-wise, so we’d better approach things with that in mind, and if there is a particular personal meaning to clocks and their use for you, you should consider that. Knowing that our perception of time is linear, but that it might not in the larger scheme play out that way at all, should broaden our understanding, even as it fosters respect for those elements of time (decay, aging) we can’t control.

For those born with the Sun at 10 Libra: What’s hidden, ignored, denied, or that makes you angry may act as the secret engine behind your choices, movements, and commitments this coming year. Though everyone else needn’t know this, it’s important you stay aware of that smoldering anger and righteousness–otherwise it could take over and end up alienating those you love and care for–and certainly, that will set you back a long way in attaining your goals. You have the creative chops and the resources to implement ideals and dreams–so staying awake to what propels you is the only thing to remember. Good luck, Libra, and Happy Birthday!

Have a great weekend!

Emile Claus 1903 {{PD}}

Secrets revealed, realities dealt with, accommodations made, results, well, reaped–that’s what this weekend (and that first week day) holds. Proportions to the mix will vary for each individual, of course, but the overall ingredient list remains the same. On Saturday the 24th we see a clear path to ambition fulfillment, and we gain materially, within the reality picture, when we acknowledge matters we’ve heretofore (just have to use that word once!) ignored, been in denial of, or been enraged by. If you’re stuck, not moving forward, it’s likely because you’re either fixed on material assets and benefits in the here and now only, or because you are in your own way protesting what you see as the imperfection of the world. In that latter case, just get over yourself. You seeing the world as it is actually requires your permission, and yet the world doesn’t need your acceptance to be what it is. You see who needs to bend, in this instance, yes? (Juno parallel Zeus, Venus parallel Black Moon Lilith and nov Saturn, Earth parallel Chiron–which means the Sun is contra-parallel)

Sunday the 25th brings a test of Self-discipline disguised as a temptation to rebel. We may wangle with power elements or authorities because, whether we realize it consciously or not, we have the sense they’re trying to, for wont of a better phrase, ‘take our stuff’. Tune in today to the abundant and constant state of the Universe–that’s the only reliable antidote for paranoia or unreasoned erraticism. Today again, pathways to expanding our reach, our knowledge, and our world are plentiful and clear, you just have to contain yourself long enough to take them (Uranus sq Vesta, Jupiter qnx and contra-parallel Ceres, Mars semi-sq BML, Sun conjoined Jupiter and qnx Ceres)

'The Red Curtain' - Helen Hyde 1907 {{PD}}

‘The Red Curtain’ – Helen Hyde 1907 {{PD}}

By Monday the 26th we may sense a shroud lifting–nothing drastic, more like a transparent curtain gently moved aside, or the shift one feels when someone who has judged and condemned us no longer bothers. Overly dramatic, right? There are two reasons for our perceptions playing out like that: we currently feel powerless, and we seem to be looking into all the dark corners, our attention drawn to what we’ve, up ’til now, been able to avoid looking at. One is an illusion fostered by the other; the reality is, if we look at and acknowledge the denied and ignored, we see how powerful we really are (Venus opp Ceres, Sun nov BML, Pluto direct)

The word images for the weekend are: a vinyl record=these have made a hipster-comeback, though in some circles, they never went out of style. This symbol suggests drawing a distinction between appreciation that is inherent to our nature, and appreciation that is essentially following fashion. As you know, fashions come and go–what’s important are the things that speak to our Souls; a street performer continues to perform in the rain=when is persistence a good idea, and when is it fruitless? We have to accept that we can’t always know ahead of time–which is why it’s so important that our actions and choices arise from an inner motivation; a beat-up but stylish pair of pointy-toed, very high heeled boots=something that makes you feel fun, sexy, frisky is getting a little worn–re-think approaches, attitudes, accoutrements, and assumptions–it may be time for something fresh.

For those born with the Sun at 2 Libra: you are optimistic almost to the point of bursting–but it’s going to take some changes in your attitudes toward those in authority, and toward your own grasp of and use of power, before you will hit that achievement and accolade ‘sweet spot’. Keep in mind that this is a good time to explore empowerment and expression options, but that you might want to hold back, just a tad, before completely committing; that way you can sample an array of possibilities, and make the best choice for you. Good luck, Libra, and Happy Birthday!

For those born with the Sun at 3 Libra: opportunity meets you and your talents this year, Libra–and so does the potential for going overboard big-time. You may spend the coming year, through to your next birthday, consumed with trying to find the right balance between excess and exuberance, knowledge and faith, optimism and realistic expectations. It won’t be easy, but it will be fortuitous; expect to gain, one way or another. Good luck, and Happy Birthday!

For those born with the Sun at 4 Libra: you are moving forward at about the briskest pace of which you are capable–and it may be time for you to slow down a bit, and take a careful inventory of what you’re responsible for, what power you hold, what you must negotiate for, and what situations and circumstances feel most natural to you, going forward. If you want to do the wise thing, the smart thing, you’ll measure opportunities and social situations with care–it’s here you’re most likely to slip up, or lose your sense of practicality. Good luck, Libra, and Happy Birthday!

Jacobello Alberegno - 'The Harvest of the World' c1350 {{PD}}

Jacobello Alberegno – ‘The Harvest of the World’ c1350 {{PD}}

The AstroEssence: That title is based mostly on a sextile Pluto will make to Juno on the 19th that will likely permeate the entire weekend; it may act as backdrop, or motivator, as it moves toward perfection, imbuing everything with an ambitious undercurrent of gaining power, and a readiness to push for changes that enhance that accumulation of influence. We may be ruthless in our drive to be heard or for our impact to be felt, and typically that would generate all kinds of problems, including some complicated web-weaving, but this time . . . what we’ve got going for us are these things 1) imagination and creative energy out the wazoo, 2) smart thinking that respects our values and relationships, and makes the most of our assets and talents, 3) our actions and choices are spontaneous and naturally lead to our empowerment, 4) and our instincts, especially those that inform healing, are spot on. Cautions come in the form of an inclination to misunderstand health matters, whether these are literal health issues or mental, emotional, or figurative ones, and in a warning to avoid rebelliousness, as being contrary just to be contrary may arise in relationships when we fundamentally misinterpret who the other person is, or what they owe us. Too, watch out for those who might intend to deceive; though they may feel they have a perfectly good reason for doing so, we need to cleave unto the Truth, or at least reality as it actually exists.

This weekend’s word image is things that are black and white. High contrast suggests a binary system, one that breaks the world into stark components, if not outright opposites. This might be about bringing our attention to matters where we see things in black and white, not allowing for (or even acknowledging) a middle ground. Consideration for all the shades of gray (and for these being just as legitimate as any extreme) might be in order–or, we may find ourselves called to something more formal (the colors evoke a tux, after all!), or it could be a call to get back to basics.

I loved what Tracy had to say about yesterday’s Lunar eclipse–

For those born with the Sun at 25 Virgo: it may seem this year, through to your next birthday, as if there’s nothing pushing you through life; it may be a matter of drifting, at least in terms of conscious motivation. What compels you remains below consciousness, hidden, possibly not fully formed–and that can be very frustrating. If you’ve wanted to strike out on your own, blaze a trail, or otherwise launch an effort highly dependent on your own efforts, now’s the time. Not much will hold you back–and while you’re working in that direction, things will come together just as they should. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

For the Sun at 26 Virgo: your instincts are strong and responsive this year, informing everything, if you’ll allow it. Be very careful, though, that ‘blind spot’ material doesn’t control choices (that is, that you don’t assert you know something that you don’t), or masquerade as natural instincts or intuitive knowledge. A clear view of the reality picture, and a focus on Self-nurturing (rather than looking to others for emotional comfort) may be the recipe that allows you to gain, produce, or advance. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

And for the Sun at 27 Virgo: you’re headed toward true emotional integration this year, simply by being and pursuing what you will. It’s inevitable that the emotional perceptions and intelligence will grow–and you can apply them in any way you like, though I can give you a hint: your power comes from Nature. More than for most people, what you make of this Solar cycle will be purely up to you. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec 'Carmen Gaudin Red-Headed Woman in a White Blouse' 1885 {{PD}}

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec ‘Carmen Gaudin Red-Headed Woman in a White Blouse’ 1885 {{PD}}

The AstroEssence: Empowerment, the true ability to affect one’s environment and one’s options, comes today from two things: accessing what worked or brought balance in the past, and a willingness to dive into what we’ve been ignoring or denying, in order to confront what’s dark, or what would change us, if it could. The thing is, though it’s both admirable and tempting to go head-long at issues, it might not be the wisest thing to do. Somehow using our current position to attack things we actually do need to address will cause us to both gain and lose in unanticipated ways. As long as we’re clear on that, we can go forward, forewarned that drawing on the past, and on power accumulated there, brings a mixed bag of results. Ideas are our friends–they are brewing for the Inferior Conjunction tomorrow, where they will plant a seed or two–but action based on these thoughts, which may take defiant or anti-establishment lines, is to be avoided, at least for now (Juno conj Black Moon Lilith and trine the SN, Pallas contra-parallel Juno and trine Hygeia, Mars sesq Ceres, Venus parallel Juno, square Pluto, and contra-parallel Pallas)

Today’s word image is the color white. What does that color mean to you? Purity, blankness, cold, sterility, freshness, options or choice (as in an unwritten-on piece of paper or an untouched canvas), or do you see it with an artistic eye, representing all colors? What comes to mind tells you what’s ‘coloring’ your current viewpoint ‘lens’.

For those born with the Sun at 19 Virgo: it’s a time for action–is there really any question about that?–but hesitation may arise from perceptions that implementing what you want, your Will, or taking that leadership position will seriously sidetrack current life direction, the very momentum of which you’ve worked so hard to create. What’s a Virgo to do? Think on it, sleep on it, mull it, whatever ‘it’ is that you want to do–by the time you again feel confident and ready to move forward, half of what you’re now considering will have resolved on its own, and the other half will be ripe for your touch. It’s all a matter of choice–making the right one could take a little time. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

Enjoy your Sunday!

The AstroEssence: One reason I don’t usually single out aspects, especially ‘heavy’ ones (between slow-moving outer planets) is that they don’t happen in a vacuum; the tendency to read things separately is what makes for discordant or contradictory readings, though admittedly, it is the way to learn about contact effects. It’s not that there aren’t often opposing forces and flows in play, it’s more like without a whole picture orientation, we can’t really see how that aspect may be buffeted and shaped by the other aspects in effect–and that’s not even taking into account the way it may or may not affect the individual landscape through the natal chart.

So, we see the final perfection of the Saturn-Neptune square today, with this suggesting, in the most general terms, a culmination, ending, completion, materialization, manifestation, or boundary (though we can’t discount the possibility that Saturn in this instance simply means ‘time’, the passage of which has reached a particular point of conflict with the Neptunian factor) with a fantasy, creative idea or impulse, a deception, an illusion, a dream, or of an ideal, reached through a clash, conflict, or the advent of a contrast or pressure point that brings the problem nature of the thing into full view.

The thing is that today’s square may be a repeat of already addressed situations or problems, or may be yet another version of these energies in conflict, and so may not be recognized for what it is. Too, we may believe we know what to look for, though it often takes some hindsight to spot the actual (as in this case) impediment (Saturn) causing hesitation or denying access to the dream or ideal (Neptune); that is, we may think in the moment we know what’s stopping us, but be blind to the true cause (Neptune obscuring Saturn). This is in part an effect of that singling-out tendency: though it makes things fall into neat categories, it does not show us the full picture.

What’s the full picture for today, then? It involves thought processes that must adjust to what’s actually wise, rather than just to what we perceive as smart–and that takes a willingness to step out of the crowd, to let go of the belief that we know, and to refuse to dwell in hurt of any kind. It also asks us to see that acknowledging all parts of our life, especially those we have lately ignored or denied, is the healthiest thing we can do, as is acknowledging any anger we carry, particularly over any disrespect we feel we’ve suffered–and this last point, disrespect, must be recognized as something of a code word with some people–be sure you’ve actually been disrespected (not treated as an equal, and a human being) before you mistakenly use this word to characterize a difference of opinion, asked-for advice, or a warning, when it turns out to be other than you want to hear (Hygeia parallel Black Moon Lilith, Saturn sq Neptune, Mercury qnx Pallas, contra-parallel Jupiter, and opp Chiron)

Today’s word image is Versailles. This could mean a lot of things, though those that stand out to me are the place as a symbol of a pinnacle of Self-indulgence as a lifestyle, and that it has a hall of mirrors–so is today’s image about (over) indulgence, or about taking a look at ourselves? Your choice.

For those born with the Sun at 18 Virgo: you may take action this year, Virgo, because of what you learn or know; this may spring out of priorities and commitments, but will be propelled by emotions, and the feeling nature will reach out periodically and re-shape the direction you’re headed. You may come across as too head-strong, too impulsive, and too much out for your own good and goals–but if you don’t do ‘it’ for yourself, who will? No guilt, no hesitation–and anybody who tries to take you there may need to step aside, at least temporarily. Good luck, and Happy Birthday!

The AstroEssence for the 4th: the social sphere may be the scene of psychic, spiritual, or emotional injury, or it may offer healing through presenting you with salient facts–in either case, tender areas may appear to the individual larger or more more public than they actually are, and it may feel as if our attention goes too much toward what won’t work. Apply your most unique skills to problems, difficulties, and all creative efforts today, and keep your eye on the future–both can effectively guide in-the-moment choices and help you avoid wasting your energy by looking in the wrong direction (Jupiter parallel Chiron, Sun conjoined and parallel NN–the marker of a recent eclipse, btw–and Sun contra-parallel Zeus)

Today’s word image is sunshine after a cloudburst. Timing is so important; sometimes waiting is the best thing we can do.

For those born with the Sun at 12 Virgo: you’ve attended to neglected issues, addressed your anger, righted as many wrongs as you personally could; now what, with this new Solar year? You have your eye firmly on the future–so what may suffer is the present. In spite of having everything squared away, you may come to realize that the present, unlike the past or future, needs constant attention. To make the most of this year, through to your next birthday, you should listen to others, and be open to collaborative projects; let go of any lingering residual anger; and measure where you put your energy by asking yourself, ‘Is this sacred, and so something I want to have in my life?’ and ‘Is this something I want to honor, by giving it my energy?’ Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

I once again have some limited availability for consulting services–please see here for the particulars. Thanks!

The AstroEssence for the 3rd: We may find ourselves in the midst of multiple tug-of-wars (or is it tugs-of-war?), with our own sensibilities seemingly coming down on BOTH sides of the conflict. Ambitions echo the past, dreams lead our efforts toward empowering ourselves, and relationships seem to present the most vexing challenges, as we reject the social sphere, those in authority, and our peers! What’s left? Our inspirations are real; hold tight to these and let them guide you. Know that what draws our attention contains the needed wisdom or shows us the ‘smart move’; and accept that choices and actions are going to feel as if they violate our standards, though inspection later should reassure us that they did no such thing (SN parallel Zeus, Neptune trine Juno, Mars qnx Vesta, Venus contra-parallel Jupiter, Chiron, and Ceres, and qnx Ceres, Sun parallel Pallas and sxt Black Moon Lilith)

Today’s word image is a crow. Crows, we’ve recently discovered, are very very smart birds. They recognize individual humans, and will even share knowledge of what kind of human that is (source of food, mean to birds, etc). In what non-verbal way have you received knowledge lately from the group, and what knowledge was it? Were you conscious of it, or did you just soak it in? How did you use that knowledge, and if you’re just becoming conscious of it now, how will you use it in future?

For those born with the Sun at 11 Virgo: pure and inspired creativity, especially that which is drawn from past experiences, is yours this year, as long as you do one thing: confront every issue you have avoided, denied, or that has enraged you. You can’t keep your upsets to yourself any longer, nor can you expect to create success if you continue to refuse to deal with issues. It’s that simple, and that complicated, all at once. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

For those born with the Sun at 12 Virgo: I can offer you only three things, but if you use/ understand them, you will have all you need to make your year a success. 1) who you are shapes your fate, nothing, and no one, else; 2) relating to others emotionally will build the bridges you need; and, 3) don’t hesitate to look into the abyss, to deal with what you’d rather not, and to express your rage/ outrage when it is warranted. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

Your Weekend 27-28 August 2016 A Lot of Love, A Lot of Power

The AstroEssence: This weekend the emphasis is on our own strength, and finding a balance of expression between the highly personal (instinct, idiosyncrasy, hurt, relationships) and the wider world (the social sphere, what’s wise, our ability to have an impact). Both sides of the equation must reach a state that allows optimum expansion of reach that still protects (that is, allows unique ‘statements’ by) the individual, and also guards the integrity of the core purpose, identity, and intents. The idea is to maximize our expression, while still remaining, in whatever way this applies, ‘safe’. Not a time to take risks, as our sense of what’s smart will conflict with our instincts, causing (quite naturally) confusion; but we can connect cleanly with opportunities for gain (especially in the House of the natal chart that holds the Venus-Jupiter conjunction in Virgo, and those Houses ruled by Venus), and we can gain a solid sense of who we are at our best (in our ‘ideal’ form), of our most valuable skills, as well as where our true power, territory, and influence lie. The ideas and way of thinking about ourselves that we set now will last (and so affect everything going forward) for some time to come–and so set us up for success (if we focus on our value and abilities) or disappointment (if we think too much about what we don’t have, or see ourselves as victims) (Saturday: Pallas sq Sedna, Chiron sesq Juno, Venus conj and parallel Jupiter, Sun trine Ceres/ Sunday: Hygeia conj Zeus, Neptune contra-p Pallas, Venus p Ceres and Chiron, conj Merc and nov Juno, Merc stations pre-retro on the 30th)

The word image for the weekend is an expensive Tartan picnic blanket, spread out on the summer grass. This is in essence a pleasant ‘stage’ upon which to have a picnic–but, in the image, there is no luncheon displayed, nor do we see picnic participants, at least not yet. Where in your life is the stage set for a celebration of the current ‘weather’, of what you have (a celebration of abundance), or of whom you’re with? Do you put off enjoying what is, waiting for things to be ‘perfect’? Or is it that you fail to see (and so enjoy) the small celebrations available every day, over the many little things we’re lucky enough to have and enjoy? Do you need to take time off, to relax, with no particular agenda or goals, for a while? Consider the phrase, ‘It’s no picnic’–and then resolve, in one form or another, to have one.

For those born with the Sun at 5 Virgo: this year, through to your next birthday, is likely to be filled with contests of power and authority; not only will you spar and negotiate with those who hold power in your world, you’ll also begin accruing significant power through these interactions, in effect joining the ranks of the establishment and declaring dominion over your own special territory and ‘subjects’. You are, at this time, destined to establish yourself, especially in areas of Love and Money, and the approach you embrace at this time will set the tone for the entire year, and may reverberate for some time after that–so choose your ideas, words, and communications with special care. Expect to gain, to reap the reward (or at least, the result) of opportunities taken in the past, and know that what comes to you now is completely deserved. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!

For those born with the Sun at 6 Virgo: focus is on empowerment (making your presence and Will felt), on status, and on partnership, and the kind and amount of cooperation you’re getting, and this extends through to your next birthday, Virgo. You may be measuring power situations and your own effectiveness with a very personal set of standards, and everything that happens, much more than usually, will feel like it’s happening in big bold life-size experiences that are only happening to you. Because of this, you may temporarily lose both perspective and a sense of compassion toward others–but this Self-focus is necessary in order to prepare you to enter a creative heyday, and realization of one or more ideals or dreams, in the near future. Good luck, Virgo, and Happy Birthday!
