The gift of the New Moon in Taurus–okay, yeah, it might get a little weird! {{PD-Art}}

Here’s a little of what I had to say in the latest ECLIPSE Weekly about the New Moon in Taurus, occurring at 12:18 AM PDT of the 21st at 1 Taurus 35:

“The New Moon is a point of origin, and in Taurus we are focused on  the material, and on our security, and all that this implies: food, shelter, sex, and death may all figure in to this formula in countless guises. The aspects suggest that the NM will help us strike a bond with nature, that the NM’s light will birth our own most natural power position in the world, and that we will both act to make this felt and act to defend the revelations that come. We can create this in the form of a dream or ideal, if we can stay clear with the reality that already exists; too, with its position in Taurus, the NM will on its own create a new material power position for each of us, one that allows us to express the ‘I am’ in physical terms that manifest in a statement that quite literally has a material component.”

“On the 22nd Ceres perfects her quincunx to the North Node, Mercury conjuncts Uranus, and the Sun sextiles Neptune; these all carry on the theme of the New Moon concerning power, sudden revelation, and the ideals, but this time those ideals are not the sacred things in life, but the ones we dream of, and the creative power we command to make those dreams reality. Again, we’re seeing the idea of an extended impact of the New Moon, and further, we see that what happens is once again a combination of external events and our creative actions and responses to them.”

Friday the 13th jolts us with the Mars Direction (8:52 PM PDT)–will we feel it? Yes, the turnaround will be a little whiplash-y, where in some way we’ll feel a portion of our life is out-of-control. The most vital point, though, may be that the Warrior begins to move forward beforereaching an encore opposition to Neptune–and that could mean we’ll see some individuals busy trying to resurrect an already-dead dream, ideal, or fantasy. If you find this is you, take a step back, and understand that mourning is really what’s in order, as you are definitely meant to move on.

For the 14th we have this from ECLIPSE Weekly Aspect Digest, available by subscription:

Just before 6 AM PDT the (Aquarius) Moon hits the midpoint of the Chiron/ Pluto sextile, suggesting we may almost become ‘human barometers’ through our emotional reactions and experience. This can point out all the danger zones, and also indicate our power and skill possibilities–now be careful sorting between those two! On the heels of this (7 AM PDT) comes the Moon’s trine to Venus, offering an excellent mental (Air placements) atmosphere, and with the simultaneous perfection of the semi-sextile to Pluto, we see a stance that can get to the bottom of things while maintaining relationships and not harming financial arrangements.

And for the 15th, we have an aspect formula that says, in part, we could find empowerment opportunities by taking a unique approach, and may see authorities acting creatively (and that could mean deceptively!) but that the most distinct feeling we experience could be the sense that we’re working against a double dose of gravity, making it a chore to put one foot in front of the other! We can thank the Saturn/ Earth conjunction for that :/

For the 30th:

By 10 AM PDT the Cancer Moon opposes Pluto and both make a Cardinal Grand Cross with the Sun/ Earth axis. Some dark emotions, secrets, hidden matters, or things we’d rather not know come to the surface and nail us neatly to this config with a problem or two. How to resolve this, when everything seems so obvious and unsolvable? Time to come clean in this area–no two ways about it–this will allow an opening up with few repercussions–take the opportunity for a clean slate.

For the 31st:

By 2:30 PM PDT the Cancer Moon trines Mercury, both in Water, our Messenger sadly backward. This makes misunderstanding oh-so-easy, as we are prone to substitute our own emotional reactions for fact. It’s almost impossible to consciously navigate this–so use the intuition, if possible–feel the way through.

And for the 1st of April:

12:30 PM PDT the Leo Moon trines the North Node/ Juno conjunction. The emotions and intuitions are tuned in to our empowerment and our life direction, and though it may seem full steam ahead, we must consider that Merc is just on the verge of direction within days–and that our ideas about gaining personal power and making progress are probably good ones, but that we should hold back until Merc turns around to actually take a step forward.

Just before 5 AM PDT the Taurus Moon quincunxes Juno and sextiles Chiron. The emotions must adjust to the empowerment picture–we really have no choice. We do have a choice concerning our response, though, and we may feel hurt, believing we’ve been injured, or we may see it as a chance to heal something in our attitude concerning the power and position we have. We know which choice is the better one, don’t we?

9 AM Pacific the Moon completes the trine to Pluto, bringing any fierce feelings to a head. Duck.

Void begins at 10:19 AM PDT; the Moon enters Taurus at 2:44 PM PDT. First aspect is 5 PM PDT, a sextile to Neptune, making for the fanciful, the playful, and the strongly intuitive. Attitudes can be light, can be deeply feeling, or can flit into the deceptive or delusional. Don’t waste your time watching a movie or reading a book with this aspect; get together with others and make your own entertainment!

For Friday, the 16th:

3 PM PDT the Capricorn Moon squares Ceres; could indicate a conflict of female v. female, or very specifically, two mothers (or two spirits who have generated something unique and personal to themselves, and find themselves at odds). Issues of power, domain, and authority are parsed.

For Saturday, the 17th:

11:30 PM PDT the Aquarian Moon trines the South Node and creates a Finger of God with apex Mars and base of Moon/ Vesta. The past inspires us, perhaps even mesmerizes us, and may fuel the dedication of the emotional nature to our Highest Ideals, home, and/ or mate, which leads to successful (albeit muted, with the retro of Mars) action. This may not start out so great, in a nostalgic haze, but could end up making for a lovely interlude of communion and tenderness, where we are able to appreciate what gives us our emotional security in a rare and affecting way.

And for Sunday, the 18th:

11 AM PDT the Moon trines Zeus and squares Venus, suggesting that we’ll be given a chance to see just where fulfilling ambitions and wants will cost us. Or, dissonance in relationships or finances stirs us to get out there and work to make ambitions a reality. Or, following our desire nature (read ‘lust’) will put us into relationship conflict. Your choice.

For Friday the 9th:

7:30 PM PST the Libra Moon conjuncts Zeus, wedding the emotions to the ambitions and desires–a great pairing, in Libra, for pursuit of desires–just keep in mind that there’s at least one other, autonomous party involved, who has feelings and a viewpoint–with too much identification with the Moon/ Zeus combo, we could convince ourselves that those emotions and outlook are ‘alleged’, and too forcefully exert our Will.

For Saturday the 10th:

Void begins at 7:10 PM Pacific; the Moon enters Scorpio at 9:24 PM PST. 11 PM PST the Moon trines Neptune; the emotions are overwhelmed with a perceptual state that amounts to blindness, so thoroughly is the outside world, and thus new input, blocked. Immersed in feeling (and possibly intuition), we are moved– in our ‘blindness’ scenario it’s a flood of information through other sensory means–and what we are moved to is highly indicative of our ‘true’ feeling state–so take note.

And for Sunday the 11th:

One-ish we see the Scorpio Moon oppose Jupiter, and trine Pallas with Pluto at the midpoint. In our differences with society we find our own personal transformative wisdom. Know this is tailored to you; it won’t apply to others, their ‘wisdom’ may be quite unlike yours, and so not be recognizable to you at all. The other possibility is we seek to change our social relationship (probably hoping to lose ‘outsider’ status) by utilizing practical skills that can transform our position. Either response is useful.

It may be easy to forget this is Mercury, not Mars (especially with Mars still doing his retro thing), but the reality is we will be dealing not with our actual actions, but with what we think of our actions, the theories behind our choices, and the form of the ‘I am’ we are considering and then asserting through choice and activity. Our mental stance will be what matters, and here’s the thing: if we have significant disconnect between our thoughts and our actions, we will be in deep trouble. This retro period will make obvious, to others if not to us, where our thinking does not align with, support, or even connect to our real-life behaviors. Some are in for a rude awakening (the kind only aggressive Aries can give!) that could bring personal crises to a head (or at least give them form and a deadline in the future, likely at the Superior Conjunction of the Sun and Mercury after Merc is direct).

For Saturday 3 March:

Just before 8 AM Pacific time, the Cancer Moon sextiles the Mars/ Earth conjunction and so of course trines the Sun. Luna in Cancer loves the Pisces Sun energy, and generously lights the way for today via the emotions and intuitions, telling us exactly what steps to take (as Mars himself is not capable at this point, while retro).

By 9:30 AM PST the Moon squares Zeus; what happened to all that sunshine-y, go get ‘um energy? It got hung up on the ambition picture, on going after what we want, rather than just enjoying the day and everyone in it. Sometimes a non-ambitious approach is a better vehicle to get you where you want to go, as the response to the sunny, open disposition will certainly be more positive than the one to the person who comes in with clipboard in hand, handing out copies of their personal agenda.

And for Sunday the 4th:

By 11:30 AM PST the Moon forms a T-square with Saturn opposed Venus, laying out all our emotional issues surrounding want v. need, have v. have not, and indulgence v. restriction–and what issues they are. Expect some surprising things to come to light, both about ourselves and others, concerning beliefs on having, on plenty, and (for many) the deeply ingrained moral implications of these. Many of these beliefs are things we are not conscious of, but they are things that guide many of our decisions from their place deep in the unconscious cave. It’s a chance to discover a little more about who we are, and to modify that to a belief system we find more appropriate (or more flattering! It’s Venus, after all!)

For Saturday 25 February:

10 AM Pacific time the Aries Moon conjuncts Venus. Since Venus is uneasy in Aries to begin with, the Moon comes along and aggressively probes our feelings on relationships and finances, and these are likely two areas where of late we’ve been (uncomfortably) putting ourselves first, lately. The thing is, we shouldn’t feel badly about seeing to our own needs at this time; with so many bodies in the sign of the ram right now (Uranus, Ceres, Moon, Venus) we are called to emphasize our own expression and power needs in all situations. Venus, Ceres, and the Moon can all muster their own specific ‘voices of guilt’ when we become susceptible: Venus’ is the one we experience after a bout of jealousy or envy, Ceres’ belongs to the internalized mother who chides us for any number of (probably) irrelevant or outmoded behaviors, and the Moon just urges us to be hang-dog in general! Just be aware that this is the astro ‘season’ for us to put the focus on ourselves, guilt-free (and I blame that Pisces Sun, too, shining a light on altruism as if it’s the only game in town!) Vesta comes along to join this group in Aries at 11:04 AM Pacific time, adding to the imperative to think of ourselves first at this time–so do it without shame :)

And for Sunday 26 February

4 AM PST the Moon opposes Saturn, either divorcing us from feelings of guilt and repression, or showing us just how far our feeling nature is from the corresponding reality. An aspect of freedom, disorientation, and the heavy memory-reminder-burden of things like reality, gravity, and everything that has a say over us. Void begins (and either frees us from caring or from feeling we must do something about these Saturnian things) at 4:53 AM PST; the Moon enters Taurus at 6:30 AM PST, immediately sextiling Neptune. Confusion or delusion over the material situation is the result, and a drained feeling likely all-around. Not a great kick-off for the bull. Vesta sits at the Moon/ Neptune midpoint, and this adds an important point: that our confusion or delusion is seated in a feeling that something sacred has been violated. Knowing that we may think and act from a sense of indignation may give us some perspective: we can’t hope to ‘feel clearly’ coming from a prejudiced state of mind!

Void begins at 1:23 AM PST; Moon enters Aquarius at 2:28 AM PST. We pay attention (though normally we wouldn’t) to the sassy semi-sextile of Luna to the brand spankin’ new conjunction of the Sun and Neptune, and it probably gives the feeling state a shiny (and possibly confusing) aura–what do we feel? It seems like it should be obvious, but it’s just not. Could hook the emotions to a delusion or fantasy, if we’re not careful.

8:30 PM PST and the Moon sextiles Ceres and trines the South Node. One way or another we come upon that power we were seeking earlier, and we do it by calling on something in our past, probably something we heard or were told at some previous time (Gemini).
