‘Still Life with Fruit’ Constantin Daniel Stahi 1915 {{PD}}

Today’s image is a bowl of the most perfect pears you can imagine. Did you know that the ancient Greeks believed that the newly dead were offered pears, to console them and assuage their homesickness? Even when we believe that someone doesn’t need (or deserve) comfort or reassurance, we must understand that they do; each of us can offer comfort, even if only in the smallest way, to another. Be vigilant for that person to whom you can offer aid, understanding, or assistance–it’s almost a certainty that at first you may not see their need, or that you may resist–but judgment isn’t part of this–and know that there’s someone who is watching out for you, and who will offer you assistance, too.

'Still Life: Basket of Grapes, Walnuts, and Knife' Leon Bonvin 1863 {{PD-Art}}

‘Still Life: Basket of Grapes, Walnuts, and Knife’ Leon Bonvin 1863 {{PD-Art}}

Just after 8 AM PST of the 11th the Aries Moon opposes Ceres. Our Willfulness may sabotage our own authority; the ‘I Am’ feels alienated from Nature, those in charge, and/ or from those with whom negotiation is needed. It’s not a pretty picture, but it needn’t be a disaster: all we have to do is find the likeness to our own viewpoint in that opposing energy. As long as the Self can identify with its own need to feel powerful, in charge, or a part of the natural order, we can successfully find our way to understanding and compromise. 10 AM PST the Moon opposes Zeus. Now we may feel that our emotions or intuition are undermining our goals and ambitions. There may be some truth to this, and we should examine the feelings/ intuitions with care, for both the underlying perception (with feelings) and the legitimacy of the message (with intuitions, which may be wishful thinking, the mind, or fear in disguise). 2 PM PST the Moons squares Jupiter and quincunxes Saturn. The social scene is not very encouraging, and reality, in a word, bites. Maybe we’d do best to quit looking outside ourselves for validation. Fall back on knowledge, the support system, and those things that can be counted on, and re-group. 6 PM PST the Moon trines the Sun, offering a chance to co-ordinate actions and perceptions into a neat package. 8 PM PST the Moon sextiles Juno, linking us to our best empowerment options, if we’ll only be Self-responsible, and look.

Today’s image is a bottle of wine; you reach out, tilt the bottle so you can read the label, and see that it’s a label from your very own winery, and it playfully but succinctly describes some important aspect of who you are. What does it say? This is something, like the wine, that you would do well to share with others–it’s part of what makes you memorable.

Your ECLIPSE Weekend Sampler 6-8 December 2013: Need

On the current Saturn picture:

Saturn is in Scorpio, already digging up secrets, researching, and making big, permanent change, and he enjoys mutual reception with Pluto in Capricorn, whose mission at present is similar; time’s planet is also currently semi-sextile Zeus (ambitions and desire/ lust), trine Jupiter (excess, the social sphere, knowledge), and square Juno (status through the partner or position, personal empowerment and effectiveness), and by early March will be retrograding. So, the planet of stability, reality, and responsibility is being affected by some of the most passionate energies in life, and, are we surprised? This is applying a lot of influence (pressure sounds much too negative) on our judgment at this time.

It’s pointing us toward a massive need to feel strongly and deeply, to connect to others or the environment with passion, to immerse ourselves in the Water of Saturn and Jupiter so that feeling becomes the principal experience at this time. The danger of not noticing and addressing this compelling emotional influence on the reality picture at present is that we may become disoriented, swept away (or aside!) by the passions we find so involving, and could see fear, another Saturnian facet, arise and take over our perceptions as a result.

7 December our attention goes to gaining cooperation, to getting others on board with our aesthetics, to doing ‘it’ together, and can easily be perverted into passive-aggression or a belief that if that’s what we want, that’s what everybody wants. Mars is never happy in Libra, and this is no exception—considering his long (through late July 2014) residence there (due to retrograde) we are looking at some truly testing circumstances for Martial energies. I think we need to get into the habit of checking our Will and our viewpoint; the big danger is that we’ll push for, even fight for, what we think is the common desire, only to find we’ve been promoting only our own wants. Mars in Libra is a tricky tightrope to walk, but can be negotiated with balance, keeping the interests of the Self and others (the Aries/ Libra partnership) on a fair and even keel at all times.

Today’s image (8 December) is a jump rope, discarded, partially frozen in a puddle. At this coldest (or hottest, depending on your location) time of the year, we may be remarkably sedentary, hiding from the weather and disinclined to get the exercise we need. Make a conscious effort to get up and moving, no matter what it’s doing outside; inspiration lies in taking action (Mars headed toward quincunx with Neptune)

'Summer on the Dunes'NF Schiottz-Jensen 1913 {{PD-Art}}

‘Summer on the Dunes’ NF Schiottz-Jensen 1913 {{PD-Art}}

Noon Pacific the Capricorn Moon trines Sedna and conjuncts Venus. We can connect deeply with the Love concept, and so with those around us, through spirit and the intense connections we all share through life-death-life. This can make for a beautiful and co-operative environment and an exercise of genuine sympathies, though don’t expect much to be overt–this is the kind of connecting that’s wordless, in the ether, and may result more in an atmosphere than in action. 9 PM PST the Moon trines Mars; taking action, especially constructive action or moving to restrict or deny (Cappy Moon) is easy, but so is getting angry or impatient when impediments surface. Channel the energy consciously into things that take a lot of brio and push, for best results. Void begins at 9:33 PM PST; the Moon enters Aquarius at 10:54 PM PST.

Today’s image is an inflatable beach ball. It’s typical that we try to make every moment ‘count’–even our meditation has a purpose. How long has it been since you engaged in something with no point whatsoever? Consider purposely setting aside a time each day to just be, perhaps with an activity that serves nothing and no one, including yourself. You may be surprised at what finds its way into that gap, introduces itself, and changes your life.

The new ECLIPSE is out, with articles on what to expect during this last phase of Uranus-Pluto, a look at the chart and work of Pulitzer Prize winner Edith Wharton, we ask (by looking at the natal chart) whether Sylvia Browne was really psychic, and much more!

Today’s image is an individual swinging from a trapeze. The problem isn’t in swinging out into the air, or even in doing tricks or acrobatics–it’s in counting on others to catch us when we decide to ‘fly’. It’s just not the time to bet our own safety on the attentiveness or responsiveness of others. There’s nothing malicious here, it’s just that those we would like to include in our efforts or count on for their assistance are seriously distracted, busy, or unwilling to allot us what we need right now. Don’t despair–this will pass fairly quickly–in the meantime perfect your technique, your stamina, and your skills, so that when it is time to fly, you’ll be more than ready.

The Image is from the ECLIPSE Daily, sent directly to subscribers’ email–order here!

‘Devilish Wind’ Masasumi Mafu 1853 {{PD-Japan-old photo}}

Today’s image is the wind. I know! We can’t see that, we can only see its effects–and that’s really the point, there will be currents, unseen and intangible, that we can both be informed by and the effects of which we can use to our advantage–if only we can pause and accept that what we’re sensing is valid and should be acted upon. This calls on us to put aside mind chatter and distraction in order to ‘receive’ the info, and to trust ourselves–without that Self-acceptance we may get the information, but could be too cautious or conflicted to act on it.

Your Daily Image 12 September 2013: ‘A Pine Tree’

'The Great Pine' Cezanne 1892-1896 {{PD-Art}}

‘The Great Pine’ Cezanne 1892-1896 {{PD-Art}}

This is the Daily Image for the 12th, from the Daily Word email subscribers received early on the 11th Pacific time:

Today’s image is a pine tree. Trees, of course, don’t move around; they bend with the elements, shed their leaves or needles and grow new, offer shade and fruit and shelter to those who need it, are witness to what transpires but participate only as much as someone else’s actions determine. Though this is essentially the opposite of what my counsel might normally be, I recommend that we behave in the same steadfast, non-reactive, tranquil and solid manner as a tree when circumstances confront or challenge us; being even-tempered and inner-directed (not basing our own choices on what comes at us) will prove remarkably effective in dealing with matters today.

‘Woman With A Parasol’ (Madame Monet and her son) Claude Monet 1875 {{PD-Art}}

What follows is the aspect and Lunar hour-by-hour forecasts for 15 August from ECLIPSE; subscribers to the Weekly got this last Thursday, while Daily Word subscribers got it, plus the Daily Word Image, in their email morning of the 14th Pacific time. Subscribe now and get this for every day, plus lock in the current rate!

15 August we may do a lot of weighing and measuring today, as the natural world faces off with the inner one, wisdom faces ambition and desire, the Underworld meets the Upper one (and this will have a personal form, wherein your darkness or hidden nature contacts your daily environment) and words make or break relationships, and could earn for us or cost us. Noting the contrasts among things as we sort through our day is what will give events and encounters meaning and texture; neither side of any equation holds a superior position, and keeping this in mind will make us both more thoughtful of the experience and more likely to make decisions that are true to who we are, rather than influenced by conditioning. (Ceres square Sedna and sesquiquadrate Pluto, Pallas square Zeus, Mercury semi-square Venus)

1 AM PDT of the 15th the Sagittarius Moon squares Neptune. We can be mislead, if we’re not entirely willing to see ‘what is’. 9:30 AM PDT the Moon sextiles Juno. Listen to the emotions at this point; they will lead us to empowerment. Noon the Moon makes the apex to a Finger of God with base of South Node and Jupiter. Expanding our ideas about the past, and perhaps learning something of history, personal or otherwise, leads to a sureness emotionally, and an intuitive knowing. 2 PM PDT the Moon trines Uranus and squares Chiron. We could cause hurt by our insistence on separateness, or by rebelling. Such reactions serve no purpose–don’t indulge. 4 PM PDT the Moon trines Mercury, sextiles Zeus, and quincunxes Pallas. If we want our plans to be a success, we must be willing to adjust or modify, according to what’s smart, and to match skills to what’s needed.

The image for today is the hand receiver on an old landline phone. This speaks to me of the South Node, and evokes not an old message, but an old means of delivering the message. Watch today for a familiar form of communication; think about what you came to see that as signifying in the past, and ask yourself how that particular means of sharing information affects the message now, with the idea in mind that the form itself carries its own meaning, apart from the overt message conveyed.

Have a great Thursday! New issue of ECLIPSE comes out tonight!

This is the word image for today, found only in the Daily Word:

Today’s image is two live electric wires, loose from their connections, fallen in a puddle. We receive a tremendous shock if we jump in to a situation without knowing or caring about the history that created it; lacking respect for what came before, or for the players involved, brings a particular kind of hubris to the forefront–and we pay for it with the shock of rejection or with the startling realization that there’s a back story much more relevant than we might suspect.

Just to let everyone know: subscription prices will be going up on October 1st; however, anyone subscribed before this date who remains continuously subscribed will receive the current rates for as long as they stay signed up. Don’t wait for a price hike–subscribe now!

Grand Sextile, The Daily Word image

'Fish House Door' John Peto 1905 {{PD-Art}}

‘Fish House Door’ John Peto 1905 {{PD-Art}}

Thought I’d share the word image for the day; these are now a part of the Daily Word service, which delivers the forecast, plus these word-pictures which act as touchstones and synchronicity markers, one day ahead to your email.

The image for today is a chemistry set; if you understand that many things when combined are explosive, many corrosive, and that still others combine to make a third entity with entirely new properties, then you have the essence of what can happen with the Grand Sextile–mix elements with attention, care, and at least some fore knowledge of what they might create. There is also what I might call a competing image (two came to me at once) that may fit some of you better than the chemistry set: a box–it is small, shallow, and you’ll notice it continues the theme of containers that the previous two day’s symbols established. This suggests we may be trying to contain things that needn’t be contained (the shallowness of the box, its unsuitability to hold much at all). Let go of too tight a hold on detail, or on too-specific restrictions–they’re not needed.
