Makes the spiritual look almost romantic, doesn’t it? Don’t be confused–fertile influences are everywhere this week! Molteni 1838 /image by Artgate Fondazione Cariplo distributed under Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported via Wikimedia Commons

First, just a little something about your upcoming week, from ECLIPSE Weekly Aspect Digest:

I’d like to offer an unusual warning concerning the week ahead: if you’re looking to conceive a child, the time is ripe; if you do not want a child, make sure you take extra precautions, as the Universe is just a poppin’ with fertile energy of all kinds. If you’re in creative endeavors, this is also an excellent time for you–seminal work could be generated at this point, as can a wealth of inspirations that you may spend years after exploiting through your creative work. Even a late garden can flourish in the lee of the Full Moon, so honor all that grows–it will pay off tremendously.

Now, you can’t say I didn’t tell you what’s up! For Saturday we have this:

Vesta enters 29 degrees and we may feel a great deal of pressure around the things we dedicate our lives to, or around home or mate. A sorting out needs to happen, a re-evaluation, so that we are not putting our energy toward, or showing reverence for, outmoded ideas. The Moon’s contact to Neptune assists us with this, and allows us to be truly inspired in re-ordering our priorities.

And for Sunday, the 8th of July:

On the 8th of July Mars quincunxes Neptune, adding fuel and energy to the imagination/ creative fire, but part of what we’ll have to deal with is the need to modify our actions in order to see our vision realized. Don’t balk at having to make a few changes–you’re too close to quit now.

Get the full report, week after week, for $5 per month (or less, with a 6 month subscription!) If you’re here several times a week, then ECLIPSE is for you, with articles, info, and the complete forecast that uses Chiron, Sedna, Ceres, Vesta, Pallas, Juno, and Zeus and offers all major contacts/influences of the transiting Moon for the 7 day period. Support the blog, and get everything you need–order now!

And Subscribers, among various typos in this week’s ECLIPSE, the one on the “sh*t down” of Arafat’s kidneys might take the grammar police cake! My apologies for a truly unsavory mistake.

‘The Sacrifice to Vesta’ by Goya {{PD}}

We are accustomed to thinking of the body as a vehicle for the spirit; Vesta directs us to revere the spirit behind the flesh, the choice, the action. The goddess requires we consider both the physical body and those causes and beliefs to which we dedicate expenditure of the life energy as sacred, to be honored as a direct manifestation of, gift from, and conduit to the divine. The essence of Vesta can be embodied, but this must be accompanied by a dedication of spirit to something, a concept, cause, or form of Beingness, that is in some way larger than oneself. In the natal chart Vesta represents the connection between the physical and the divine, describing what we label ‘sacred’, and so tells us a great deal about how we see the Universe, and how we envision our role within it.

Above is an excerpt from my upcoming book on Vesta. All subscribers will receive a version of the book free; it will also be available on Dog & Sunflower Press.

Taurus Into Vesta: ‘Look Around and Appreciate’

Atmosphere and relationship, especially surroundings that are a material statement about our Taurean essence, will be emphasized with Vesta in Taurus. by Corot 1857 {{PD-Art}}

For the 30th of April, Vesta enters Taurus, making us more than usually aware of what’s precious to us materially, around the home, and what physical about the partner (looks, earnings, possessions, talents) we find admirable. This viewpoint should not be eschewed as lacking in spirituality; that quality is found in the person, not the trappings–and yet, what we’re surrounded with is no less worthy and spiritual in expression than anything else, since it is part of, even a statement about, our world. What surrounds us is, in essence, a manifestation of our spirituality–it’s now a time to celebrate the flower growing in the trash heap, so to speak, appreciate the animal appetites, or to notice the rot that may underlie the thing of beauty.

14 April 2010: New Moon in Aries

New Moon, New Moon in Aries, Part of Fortune, Sabian Symbols, Vesta

Galileo's Phases of the Moon 1616 {{PD}}

The 13th is prime Dark of the Moon–relax–we’re working up to the New Moon on April 14th at 5:28 AM PDT at 24 Aries 27. Sticking to our strict 2 degree rule in order to draw a precise picture of the influences of the New Moon, we are once again *sigh* left with nothing striking to work with (but frankly, in my opinion, that only signals a pure light from the Moon, with little else that might interfere). We can make a small exception, as a trine to Vesta at 21 Aries 51 draws attention and seems compelling, if only because a single aspect can make strong testimony in a sky that otherwise gives the meeting of Sun and Moon wide berth, leaving the energy as is.

The New Moon and Vesta trine each other, from Fire to Fire, and this suggests the gift of a spirited and determined energy that allows us to choose and to act (Aries) concerning those things that are most sacred to us, on the home life, and on all intimate communion (Vesta), and this done in a way that is most characteristic of the Soul (Leo). Since the New Moon is a time of beginnings, it follows that the energies we honor most should and will be put in motion at this time–choose according to the Will (Aries) and make choices that honor those things we wish to dedicate our lives to–it calls for nothing less than this.

The Sabian for the New Moon degree is ‘The Possibility for Man to Gain Experience at Two Levels of Being’ http://www.cafeastrology.com/sabiansymbols_degreemeanings.html There are other versions of this symbol, specifically ‘A Double Promise Reveals Its Inner and Outer Meanings’ but all speak of the duality of possibility that is presented with this New Moon energy, and this implies not just Self-generated choice, as noted with the Aries placement, but that the experiences initiated will contain multiple meanings, and that these will hold that sacred Vesta energy in the form of a covenant (the promise spoken of). The gift of the New Moon in Aries, then, is the gift of significance beyond the conscious choices of our Will, choices that will serve the sacred in ways we may not know at the time they’re made.

I wrote the body of this post, but had the strangest feeling–did I use the wrong Sabian, forget something, what? So I started to look around, and found this by Diane http://libraseekingbalance.com/archives/2646 that talks about double checking what you do. But I’ve got to admit, even after triple checking I feel like I’ve done something wrong. The only other thing I noticed in the chart may really be the heart of the feeling, though: the Part of Fortune for the New Moon chart is exactly semi-sextile the Sun-Moon conjunction, and this jogged something from a long-ago memory, a suggestion that the Part of Fortune in event charts in close aspect to something relevant signals meaning, a fatedness, something ‘special,’ somehow, to what will occur. Perhaps this adds weight to our New Moon choices, if we know they may ripple out into our future, and be even more important than we can imagine.

Finally! The promised quiz at ‘Been There, Done That’ http://askjulie.wordpress.com/2010/04/12/are-you-an-annie-or-a-jane-the-quiz/

Moon, My Daily Astrology Diary, Neptune, Vesta

Heavy work and social commitments will be keeping me from commenting in the Blogosphere as much as I’d like over the next week or so; I just popped in to make a few observations about today, and will try and get a full report out for tomorrow later this evening. Of course, it’s no biggie if you’ve got the March Forecast available in ECLIPSE http://dogandsunflower.wordpress.com/eclipse-in-depth-astrology-for-the-21st-century/ I’m at work on the Spring issue right now, and appreciate every sale– thanks for your support!

This beautiful photo is in the public domain, thanks to Fanghong-from Wikimedia Commons

Now, on to why you’re really here. The Libra Moon quincunxes the Sun and then conjuncts Zeus 1 PM-3PM today PST. This may light up something that makes us feel uncomfortable, and the answer for many will be either 1) putting ambition or Will-fulfillment efforts into high gear, or 2) aligning with those who are perceived to hold the power. Libra only encourages alliances, and when they seem to be the answer to our own emotional discomfort we may be too quick to throw our lot in with someone a little more Machievellian than we would normally hang out with–and that means this is an influence that could put us in over our heads with the wrong people more quickly than we might realize. For those who keep the power in their own hands, this will actually work out better, though here the caution is to avoid a one-note push forward that focuses too strongly on the Self; this can be avoided by monitoring the emotional reactions, as the Libra Moon will help keep consideration of others at the forefront of thought and response.

We’re well into tomorrow PST before the Moon makes overtures to any other body, so I’ll leave you with the aspect of the day: Vesta in Leo opposed Neptune in Aquarius. This can create an interesting stand-off for us, internally or externally, as the purest conception of what we find sacred in life (Vesta) is challenged to live up to the ideals present in real-life (Neptune); and of course there’s a lot of ego and pride behind upholding what we consider sacred (Leo), so that when we are presented with the contrast to the way the ideals have actually structured our existence (through the Higher Mind–Aquarius–as it directs Spirit) we may be disconcerted to find that there is a gap between what we purport to believe and the way we have created this in the life. It’s important that we align these two, for our own spiritual health; we have until December 15th, 2011 to do it–that’s when Vesta meets Neptune at 28 Aquarius, and the two need to blend perfectly, as dissonance will be felt in every cell.

And this is something http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35662192/ns/technology_and_science-space/?GT1=43001
